Normally the forest surrounding Hyakuji was a tranquil if not dangerous place, and such was the case this day as well, or rather it would be if it weren’t for the primal roar that cut through the afternoon air. Wild animals were commonplace in the forest so such a sound might not be all that strange, in fact one could probably easily identify it as the sound of a bear. What wasn’t normal was the loud crash that followed, and the cloud of dust that kicked up from where the sound was coming from. Should one investigate the scene, they would find that there indeed was a bear… slumped against a tree that had been broken clean in two. A moment later a flash of movement could be seen and Alexia appeared next to the fallen bear with both Sariel and Rakanoth beside her, looking ready to kill. The winged girl knelt down next to the bear as her tail slithered up from behind her. The tip of Alexia’s tail grew larger and larger until it was as large as her torso and a primal growl could be heard. Suddenly it split open to reveal a set of jagged teeth which sank deep into the bear’s flesh. The bear let out a roar of pain and struggled against Alexia, but ultimately it was in vain. Its cry grew weaker as its body began to wither and shrink, soon leaving nothing but a desecrated corpse covered by fur. Alexia sighed as her tail retracted and assumed its normal size. The bear was dead, but Rakanoth and Sariel didn’t lower their guard as Alexia stood, a little taller than she did before. Sariel surveyed the surroundings a bit as she sensed something, then suddenly called out. “...What is it you seek, Seth Ryouga?” Edited by Sophia Antistita, May 2 2014, 01:33 PM.

... "You know, that is really not helping the image some people have on you," A certain Seth Ryouga said in mild exasperation as he dragged himself out of his little moment of surprise. After scratching his head, he tossed out a box wrapped in cloth to the girl with the living wings. "Here," Which, if she caught and opened it... unless of the two overprotective guardians decided it was a bomb and breaks it apart, she would find that it was a lunch box. Rice, roasted eel, pickled ginger, eggs, some octopus hot dogs, and a few nori strips. With a pair of spoon and fork if she doesn't know how to use a chopstick, which is also included the lunch box. "I'm not sure how you could get food if you're scared of going out. I don't think convenience store accepts money from four hundred years ago either," Speaking of convenience store, doesn't it look like Seth just bought a bento from there and repackaged it in his own lunch box to make it look like he made it himself...? |

If Seth’s remarks on how her image will be affected had any impact on Alexia, she didn’t show it. She did react when he threw the bundle at her though, or rather Rakanoth did. With a bit of growl the hooded skull snatched it out of the air and carefully opened it as Sariel shielded Alexia with a wall of ice. When they saw what it was an expression of mild surprise appeared on Sariel’s pale features and she pulled the shield back. “A meal? Your gesture is appreciated Seth Ryouga.” “Only if he didn’t poison it or something.” Rakanoth sneered and made to throw the bento away, but Alexia stopped him by placing a hand on his arm. “S…sorry about Rakanoth Seth… Thank you for the meal.” ot was odd that she would just accept a meal like this, especially considering how reserved she normally is. But if her two guardians were allowing her to eat it, it must mean they had a way to know it was safe somehow, right? In either case the winged girl sat down at the base of a nearby tree and began eating, looking genuinely happy as she did. By the time she had finished she had a satisfied smile on her face and she bowed to Seth in thanks. “T…thank you Seth, it had been a while since I last had a real meal. I usually get by off the berries and other fruits I find in the forest, Rakanoth said it wasn’t enough and…” She glanced at the dead bear and quickly looked away. “Well… made me go h…hunting…” She seemed distressed as she said this, and Sariel quickly cradled the girl’s head with her arms, glaring at Rakanoth as she did. “And I said we shouldn’t force Alexia to do something like that, but you wouldn’t listen, would you Rakanoth?” “Silence Sariel! How are we supposed to sustain ourselves on such meagre ‘food’? You know it wasn’t enough!” |

...Heh. Honestly Seth couldn't help but give a snort of amusement seeing the little antic between the two living wings. They're almost like the couple who are always bickering at each other while still having the common interest of taking care of their child at heart. "You guys are surprisingly adorable," He said with a small smile and a sigh as he settled to sit down against a tree. "Isn't it nice, even after four hundred years you still have those two at your side," Literally and metaphorically too. What's funnier is he knows exactly what it feels like. Of course that can't be the whole reason he's wandered around the whole day, ending up into the forest to look for Alexia and finding her just slaughtered a bear, could it? "Actually, good thing you two are here as well," He somewhat nonchalantly, digging a finger into his ears. But it was clear that his words contained a purpose. "What would you say if I say there actually is someone out there who claimed to know you from four hundred years ago?" Odd, wasn't he the one who kept insisting she just toss away any hope of meeting any of her friends since... well, four hundred years, anyone would've died in that time frame. |

“Yeah… I owe them a lot… everything in fact.” Alexia smiled sheepishly from Sariel’s arms. “I honestly don’t know what I’d do without them.” If it weren’t for the fact that Rakanoth and Sariel were literally a part of Alexia, they could have been easily mistaken as a proper loving family. The winged girl’s ears perked when Seth spoke up once more, as did her guardians. Upon hearing what the young man had to say Alexia practically beamed with delight. “Really? Did you really find someone? I didn’t think it was possible since it was so long ago, but…” Sariel stopped the girl with a hand on her shoulder, clearly not as excited as Alexia was. “And who might that be? As I recall you’re the one who told Alexia that it was impossible for anyone from our time to be alive now, so why the change of heart?” Hearing this, the smile fell off Alexia’s features, and she looked at Seth worriedly. Naïve as she was, she knew enough to realize that what Sariel said held true and that she shouldn’t jump to conclusions. |

"...Well, not exactly from your time," He said after a moment of afterthought, scratching his cheek meekly figuring he probably should have worded his sentence better. "But no, you're right. I haven't changed my stance. Though this is still a bit unbelievable to me either," It was then he took out... his phone from his pocket. He flipped it open, fiddled around with it a little bit before tossing it to Alexia. "Just last night I met that person. Or rather, she called us to meet her. It's a recording of all our conversation, just thought you'd be interested in hearing what she says about you," As Alexia, or either one of her two guardians caught it, which considering their probable lack of technological savviness, they would find the little device seemed to be talking. It was, in fact, the entire recording of all the conversation that happened between him, Shirena, Lucid and the odd hooded woman (he forgot her name if she ever mentioned it) that night at the warehouse. Seth stayed quiet during the whole recording playback, up until the point when the Seth in the recording yelled out "NO ONE. NEEDS TO DIE. ...And that is final," The phone fell silent. Seth made no attempt to have the phone returned to him, but just sat there lazily staring at the leafy canopy, waiting for her response. |

A deathly silence followed after the last line of Seth’s recording and all traces of joy vanished from Alexia’s features. The girl lowered her head and buried it in her arms as Sariel did her best to comfort her and Rakanoth growled dangerously. “… Even after four hundred years the Asahi no Tsuya are still hunting us…” “Hmph. If they want a fight they’ll get one, if the only way to keep them away is to kill them all, then so be it!” “Thank you for warning us Seth Ryouga, but I’m afraid I don’t see a peaceful resolution to this. If they attack us we WILL defend ourselves, and we are more than capable of doing so.” The pale woman gestured at the fallen bear as if to prove her point and at the same time Alexia whimpered as if recalling some terrible memories. “And what of you, human?” Rakanoth suddenly called out while pointing a bony finger at Seth. “You said you would defend the weak, and I daresay that it’s those foolish cultists. Does this mean you will be siding with them?” |

"Cha, hardly," A scoff. Though a small one, and nothing more than just a bit of annoyance. "I told you before, I told that strange lady and I'll repeat it again. I have absolutely zero interest in siding with anyone. I have my own business to do and my own interest to keep. Four hundred years old grudge and squabble doesn't interest me, in fact I think it's dumb, and whoever is involved in it is dumb," Not that telling anyone that is going to change anyone's mind if they've managed to keep the mindset for four hundred years. Not sure if he realized he just called the three right next to him dumb as well. Though even if he does it doesn't seem like he would care. Of course, he's not just going to be done right then and there, is he. "Like I said, I do have my own interest though," He said simply, just pointing at the phone. "How about if I have the full story from your side instead?" |

“That is for the best then. We have no wish to drag bystanders into our feud. Honestly we have no wish to fight either, Alexia hates it, but we have no choice in the matter.” This was coming from a girl who had just killed a bear, but it was for sustenance and she DID hate it, so perhaps it was justifiable. Both guardians looked at each other hesitantly when Seth asked for their side of the story. Usually it was Alexia who decided whether or not to tell such things, but with the girl otherwise indisposed, it was up to them this time. “…You have given us no reason to mistrust you, so I suppose there’s no reason not to tell you. But unfortunately there is not much to tell.” “We were created as a symbol of unity, proof that the worlds of Heaven, mortals, and Hell can co-exist. Naturally our… creators were met with heavy criticism, so we were also their guardians… weapons if you will. Did we kill? Yes. But our actions were strictly defensive, we never attacked innocents.” Was she telling the truth? There was no way to tell for certain. But she did admit that she and Rakanoth, and in turn, Alexia, were weapons… |

Hum. That really was a short story he had to admit. Though he suppose whatever blanks in the story had already been filled by the odd lady from that night. It's common notion to want to believe one side of the story and dismiss the other, but in this case they're both complimenting each other like a puzzle. A janky one, sure, but the pieces fit nonetheless. Otherwise, it hardly changed the fact that it was a story from four hundred years ago. and whatever stories and testimony from way back would already have their credibility rot away and not apply to the current time at all. "Well, if that's your stance..." The only thing that matters is the present, and presently, "Then stop fighting back," He said lightly, getting back up to his feet, patting the dirt away from his bum before stowing his hands into his pocket, signifying how he's really taking the matter at hand. "I honestly don't like you guys being branded as a weapon, or even a 'symbol of unity' or whatever. You're a human, I'm sure you've had your own life before being experimented on," He said, pointing to Alexia. "Same goes for you two as well, a demon from hell and an angel from heaven. Whatever the others call you, the only thing that matters is what you three call yourselves. Guardians to Alexia, sure why not, if you guys are happy with it. If you're happy with being called weapons then be my guest, though clearly you're not happy with it, so... stop that?" The young man gave a shrug, clearly not bothering with whatever their responses would be. The only reason he really said so much in the first place however, "I just don't like people who says one thing then turns back on their words," He added as he turned away from them, raising a hand and pointing a finger up to the sky above. "Those who speak must always be able to prove them with actions! Lower your weapon, drop your guard, prove that you wish for nothing more than peaceful coexistence with each other!" The young man lowered his hand, putting them back into his pocket. He then said with a grin, though not bothering to look back. "It's all your choice though. Of course you can fight back if you want to, but do you really want to keep up the cycle of hatred by killing them just because it's 'necessary'?" His words had a tone of finality in it. Sure enough, the young man seem to have nothing else to say about the subject matter, leaves crunching under his feet as he started walking away. "If you need anything at all, I hope you know how to use a phone. I'll call the phone later so you know which number to call. ...Oh, also," He stopped for a moment, glancing back behind his shoulder, once again with the grumpy face. "Don't forget to return that lunch box. I don't have enough lunch boxes for one more person to cook for every day," |

“Are you mad!? Do you honestly think that by laying down our arms they will just let us go?” Rakanoth howled with indignation. “The only thing that will happen if we did that is a dagger in our back, and I’ll be damned if I let that happen!” The hooded skull leaned towards Seth with a clenched fist. “We are already doing them a favour by not hunting them down ourselves. We even go as far as to seclude ourselves from society, is that not enough?” Sariel nodded in agreement. “We have every intention of backing off and living a normal life, but not if it means leaving ourselves defenseless against those cultists.” At this point Alexia lifted her head and peeked at Seth from Sariel’s arms. “But… He does have a point… If we kill any more of their people they’re just going to keep sending more…” She was still sniffling a bit, but had calmed down enough to speak. “And even if we wipe out the entire organization, they have family too… and they’re bound to hate us. It’ll never end… There’s too many of them…” Both her guardians turned to stare at her as if she had gone mad. “I…I have no intention of dying! Don’t misunderstand you two! I just think that maybe we can talk this out… It’s been four hundred years after all…” Rakanoth and Sariel clearly didn’t share her sentiment however, but they didn’t speak up about it. “Thank you Seth… I do hope that you’re right. And umm… thank you for the meal and this… phone…? I think we can figure it out, so don’t worry!” The girl was smiling a little broader as she watched Seth leave. Maybe there was hope after all… |
