In the days following their encounter with Alexia, Seth, Lucid, and Shirena would have more or less normal daily lives. But about a week after, they would receive a mysterious letter from an unknown sender that read:
Those that heeded the letter and journeyed to the warehouse at the appointed time would find it devoid of life, or so it seemed until a hooded woman stepped out of the shadows and into the moonlight. “I bid you welcome, young ones, you have made a wise choice in coming here tonight.”

Honestly from the letter alone? Anyone normal with a sane mind has EVERY SINGLE REASON to NOT go to the appointed place. There is no telling that the writer of the letter could be trusted, and then there's the fact that they were apparently being watched? Look, it's common sense to stay away from this kind of thing for your own good. Don't listen to people you don't know, you've never seen or heard, stay away from them, mom would always remind you. Seth knows that and he stomped and kicked all teachings from old times to the curb and went anyway. And thus he was at one of the many collection of warehouses at the abandoned warehouse lot, his blue knit cap fitted snugly on his head while wearing his jacket instead of his usual black butler suit. The young man took one look at the letter in his hand, glanced around and after determining he was at the right place, tore the paper apart and threw the shreds over his shoulder. It's annoying enough that he had to see two other names in the letter, and possibly them being besides him too. "It's just one thing after another, can't they just leave us alone..." He said with a scoff, just in time for a hooded man... woman...? To make his appearance from the darkness. Part of him actually expected the letter to be the real deal. I mean who else would actually know about Alexia and them having met her a week earlier? Another part of him however, was dubious at someone else who actually knew about Alexia, speaking as though they knew her from four hundred years ago. Which begs the question, "Are you another four hundred years old hag like she is?" Very important question. |

Turning misery into meaningfulness!

"How confusing, a letter from a random person, saying I'm in danger, with a mysterious agenda, saying an acquaintance was a dangerous being, and meeting in a warehouse, where I'll probably be assassinated." Shirena said, with a look at the letter. "What's not to love!" He said, with a grin. Of course, he came to the warehouse, wearing semi-casual clothing. "Hellooooo~!" He yelled out, before seeing Seth and the hooded woman... He waved. "Hi!" He said, cheerfully. He seemed quite cheerful, despite the tension, and the admittedly shady dealings before him. "Nice to see you again, Seth." He said, with a grin. "I assume you got a letter too?" He said, waving his letter in his hand. "I didn't know if I needed an invitation, so I brought it, just in case." He said, with a sheepish grin. "I didn't need it, did I?" |

"DA DA DADA DAAAAA DADA DA DA DA DAAAA~" Lucid came in, humming along to a song only she could hear as she circled around. Only after a while did she notice Seth and Shirena, and waved to them. "Oh hey, you showed up early." She laughed, then tilted her head as she saw the stranger dressed in robes. Huuuuh. That looked oddly familiar. Like... "Black flower?" No, wait. That's not it. She had no clue what the woman was. "I have no clue who you are, and I'm pretty sure I won't care after the mystery is solved!" Honesty was her sole virtue, others would say. "So, what do you have to tell us? Is Alexia actually some kind of horrible spirit container jammed full of the stuff people call evil or something?" It was only her first guess because she had lunch with one of those every Thursday. Edited by Flambe, Apr 26 2014, 12:44 PM.

If Seth’s little insult fazed the woman at all she didn’t show it at all, or rather the hood hid all facial expression so there was no way to tell what she was thinking. “Alas I did not have the honour of fighting that witch myself. No, my knowledge of Alexia stems from records passed down to me from my ancestors.” "While your analogy is rather crude, Ms. Talleyrand, it isn't that far from the truth. I suppose a bit of a history lesson is needed for you to understand what’s going on." The woman stepped up to the three Hyakujians and began pacing around them. "When the Christians first arrived in the mid-16th century, they were generally well received. Trouble didn’t start until the 1580’s when the Christians grew bolder and put our way of life at risk, even threatening us with invasion. It was during this time that we, the Asahi no Tsuya, was formed to take a stand against them, and thanks to our efforts the civil unrest was kept to a minimum.” She stopped pacing and looked up at the serenity that was the night sky. “Unfortunately the peace didn’t last, and we discovered that a terrible plague had struck a village near a Catholic mission early in the 1600’s. Official reports stated that it was natural causes to prevent a panic, but we knew otherwise. The victims of this ‘plague’ were drained of their life force and left as an empty husk, there was no natural plague that could do this.” When she turned back to the Hyakujians, her hood lifted slightly to reveal eyes filled with fury and hatred. “We investigated the mission, and discovered that they had been working on some sort of living weapon, one called Alexia. But it was too late and the cowards had already fled. It took a lot of effort, but we finally tracked them down to the village that used to stand where Hyakuji stands now, and found that they had taken refuge in the church here. We struck as soon as we were able, and in 1619 we wiped them off the face of the earth.” Laughing softly she walked back into the warehouse and stood with her back to the students. “But we never found Alexia. Our intelligence wasn’t wrong, the villagers had seen a girl matching her description at the church. We could only conclude that the Christians sealed her away somewhere to hide her from us, but we never gave up. The months passed, years, then decades, whole generations passed and there was still no sign of that witch. The shogunate eventually dismissed the threat and made peace with the westerners, but we never forgot. We lost most of our power over all these years, but we’ve always kept a vigilant eye on the city to see if Alexia would turn up again… and four hundred years later, she did.” |

"...So let me get this straight," The young man said with a grunt and scratched his head, as the hooded person finished his... her(?) story. "You actually had a four hundred years old grudge against a girl whom you're pretty sure haven't done anything, but absolutely suspect her to be an evil and dangerous living weapon made by Christians. From four hundred years ago," Okay. It was hard enough to keep himself from yelling at the two in anger for being WAY too jolly for a situation that would make ANYONE normal tense to their bone marrow. And now he found out... he came all the way to the abandoned warehouse lot... at NINE IN THE EVENING... just so he could hear a grudge story from FOUR HUNDRED YEARS AGO?! They are lucky he still haven't blown his top off yet, managing to barely keep his temper in check with controlled, deep breathing. It helps that he's closing his eyes and rubbing his forehead, because he doesn't know if he could stand looking at anyone for tonight. "...Alright. Alright, I believe you," Mainly because there's no reason to deny anything anyway, it's not like any one of the three knew any better of either this odd hooded person or Alexia anyway. Heck, for all they know, she MIGHT actually be a dangerous living weapon just waiting to be set off! "...Now are you actually done here? Or do you actually have more reason for calling us here than just telling us a bedtime story," "Also, who are you exactly anyway?" |

"Oh, so this is the part where you pay me to kill her, right? I usually get long-winded explanations from my customers about why they want other people dead, as if it absolves them of guilt or something. You know, X killed my son or Y stole my life savings. So Z, go and shoot them to death. That sort of stuff, really." Lucid said cheerfully, waving her hand about as if she was explaining something silly. "I got no problems with it. Just 1 yen is enough. You'll feel much better, knowing you had me kill a little girl for less than pocket change. Of course, you'll rationalize it as disposing of a weapon, but I guess not everybody can own up to what they do." Unfortunately, what would've been sarcasm and scorn coming from another person was deadly earnestness from Lucid. "1 yen to kill Alexia, the secret weapon of the Christians. I won't raise my hand for free, not for you." She didn't care if anybody noted the particular emphasis in her wording or not. |

Shirena looked....a fair bit more surprised than the others. It didn't last, however. "I see..." He said, pulling his thoughts together for a time. "So I assume you intend to kill an innocent girl for possibly being an experiment for a bunch of religious nutjobs." He said, with a piercing tone. "She really didn't seem as bad as you made her sound, either. Hell, she seemed quite pleasant." He looked away, kinda taking in his surroundings. "You know, you could've sent us an email explaining the whole thing. Would've made things much less creepy for us, much safer for you. Not that its a threat." He said, with a smile. "She doesn't seem as dangerous as you lead her to be. Not like I'm gonna be stricken with Apathy Syndrome if I stay around her for too long." He said, with a sigh. "So that's that. Hope you understand where I'm coming from when I say...I'm a tad more trusting in her than you." He said. Edited by bmsman816, Apr 28 2014, 07:09 AM.

“I see we have a misunderstanding here my dear boy.” The woman smirked slightly at Seth’s words. “We know she’s the one responsible for that tragedy four hundred years ago, there were documents left to us by our ancestors. And while we certainly do hold a grudge against her, our primary motive is to prevent it from happening again.” She shook her head sadly. “I understand that it’s difficult for you to trust us so suddenly like this, but can you say you truly know Alexia? Can you say with absolute certainty that she is as innocent as you say she is, and that she’s not just hiding her true nature until she recovers her strength from being in stasis for so long?” Her words were directed at all three students, but targeted Shirena in particular. The boy seemed to be more of the naïve trusting type, so it’s not all that surprising that he would trust a shy girl over a shady looking hooded woman. “I’ve asked you here tonight in hopes of recruiting you to our group. We won’t lie, our goal is the elimination of Alexia before she can harm any more people. I’m not asking you to kill her, I have no intentions of making students into killers. All I’m asking for is your cooperation, such as providing us with any information you have that might help us in our task or spreading awareness to prevent more victims, anything will be greatly appreciated.” Her eyes fell upon Lucid, the oddly light-hearted way the girl was taking this was not something she had anticipated. “Of course if you want an active part in our mission you’re more than welcome to do so. If you want to eliminate her for us we will gladly pay you for your troubles.” The apparent sarcasm in Lucid’s words weren’t lost on the hooded woman, but she took it in stride with the confidence of someone who was in complete control of the situation. “Let me assure you that if you choose not to help us that is perfectly fine, we will not hold it against you. In that case all I ask of you is to not approach Alexia anymore for your own safety. Now…” She held out her hand to the three students in a gesture of trust and friendship. “Will you aid us in protecting our city?” |

"No." That was all he had to say....well, maybe not ALL he had to say. "I don't know much about her, true, and she does seem to be shadyas well, but...I refuse to employ myself to helping with the murder of someone that you may be bluffing about." He said, with a small growl. He was naive, and overly trusting, perhaps, but he knew where he drew his lines. "I have things I need to find out here too, and I intend on at least finding out the full story. If you're right, and she needs to die, if only for a greater cause, then I'll allow you to do so." He began walking away, before stopping, looking back at the woman. "If you have anything left to say, may want to tell me now. I'm losing patience, and if you get in my way, or harm my friends, I will put a stop to your actions." |

"Kaching~! Offer accepted and sealed. As stated before, the contract's to kill Alexia, secret weapon of the Christians. And that is where you come in, super detective Seth!" Lucid laughed, playing with her twintails as she pranced about. Oh, this would be a fun, fun game. "Soooo, we've heard what the lady has to say. She wants me to shoot Alexia real good. But, I'm an executioner. It's not fun to get things wrong, because that takes time away from doing stuff I like." She waved her arms about. "Here is the deal. You have doubts about the case, huuuh? So work on it. I have a backlog of contracts, anyways. So you have a few days to clear Alexia's name. If you can prove she's innocent, that she's not the secret weapon of the Christians, it means that the contract was in error." Her big empty smile couldn't be more disconcerting than it was already. "Your fists alone aren't enough this time. No matter how much you punch, you won't be able to beat those lingering doubts of her guilt~! So, use your brain, Seth. You're the only one with the skills and the motivation to try and save her, hahah~" |

"...Why the hell should I?" Cold. Apathetic. Uncaring. Surprisingly enough, it was actually directed at Lucid instead of the hooded woman. "This. Is exactly why I hate detectives. And why I quit being one," The young man... wasn't even sure what he could say in response, really, other than just rubbing his forehead in irritation. Three sides to this little meeting, one has a four freaking hundred years old grudge, one is a naive brat, and another is apparently a mad for-hire killer telling him to investigate something from four hundred years ago. ...This is not good for his health. Doubts, trickery, guilt, all these he had to deal with being a detective, having to separate between what's right and what's wrong, between truth and lies, all the while having to actually bear the responsibility of shedding everything to light? "...Let me tell you guys some things," He finally continued with a growl, after a long hard pause. "All I want, is some nice little time of peace and quiet. I would have been in my room, sleeping, had you guys not called me here," There was another pause, but a much shorter one this time before he spoke again. "I don't care about that girl," He said to Lucid. "I don't care about this city," He continued to the hooded woman. "I don't care what you guys want to do, as long as it does not involve me, and I can just. Walk out. Never to see you guys ever again," "However," Of course, there's always the buts. "Unlike you, I actually value life," His words had a noticeable hiss and venom in it, threatening any of them to make whatever mad justification for expendable lives, which he would most certainly not bother to hear even a single word of. "I. Am the strongest. The strong protects the weak. If I see anyone strong who does the opposite to the weak, whether it be the girl. You. Or you. Or even you," He pointed to each Lucid, the hooded person, Shirena, and Alexia from afar. "I will personally be the one to stop you," |

Lucid tilted her head, confusion on her face. Huh? That was a weird response. But she supposed that it was true, given how cheeky he was about it. So she shrugged. "Oh, okay." She smiled widely again. "So you really don't care if Alexia could be bad, huuuh? A rough-edged saint walks the Earth!" Lucid had no personal conception of good and evil, but she did read a book or two about what others thought about morality. And it turned out to be a really complicated subject, so she decided to pare it down for this situation. Protecting others equals good. But good people usually didn't go the extra mile to protect bad people. Therefore, protecting bad people while being good means extra good by the standards of society. Such was Lucid's careless illogic. "But you know, if you lose sight of people, you'll regret it. I see people as people, and they remain people even when I play. When strong and weak are the only way you can see them, you won't be able to protect a single thing with your fists. Weak can kill weak, strong can kill strong. You can't protect the weak from each other when your eyes are looking in the wrong direction." She paused. "Wait, does that make sense? I think it does. Does it?" She looked around, then shrugged again. "Also, Hiro wasn't in that tournament. So while your point still stands, it's totally not cool to call yourself the strongest, liar pants Seth. I watched the DVD. I know what I'm talking about." |

“You still don’t get it, do you Mr. Ryouga?” The woman withdrew her hand and glared at Seth. “Alexia is far from weak. She has the power to wipe out an entire village in a matter of minutes, and has already done so. If anything she’ll start hunting us once she regains her power, and she won’t stop there. How many need to die before you understand what she really is?” “If you want proof of her crimes I have them in the form of documents from four hundred years ago.” She reached into her clothes and produced a stack of papers for the three students, each describing in gruesome detail how the villagers were killed and even included some sketches of the desecrated bodies. The second half of the stack included descriptions of the killer based on survivor testimonies and sketches based on said descriptions. There was no mistaking it, the girl in the drawings bear a striking resemblance to Alexia. “If you want to do your own research, be my guest. Just be wary of how long you take, the longer you wait to take action the more victims there will be.” She sighed, genuinely disappointed that two of the three students weren’t willing to aid them. “Like I said if you choose not to cooperate with us we won’t hold it against you. However…” A dangerous edge crept into the woman’s voice. “If you choose to help Alexia, I’m afraid we won’t be able to turn a blind eye.” The edge vanished as soon as the woman finished speaking however, and she took out three cards, tossing one at each of the students. Should they look at it they would see it’s a fairly plain card with the words “Asahi no Tsuya” and a phone number written on it. “That card contains my contact information. Should you two change your mind, or if you have went ahead and eliminated Alexia,” She nodded at Lucid. “Please contact me.” Edited by Sophia Antistita, Apr 29 2014, 06:47 AM.

"NO ONE. NEEDS TO DIE," Well, he finally snapped, both to the hooded woman and Lucid. It was one thing to keep pressuring him with guilt, and then he got to hear an argument about morality, which is honestly the last thing he really wants to hear at this time of the night. "And that is final," He refused to say another word as he turned and began walking away. Honestly, if they couldn't get his message with that one single outburst, then he has no reason to keep talking to them any more. Or if they're insistent on being stubborn. As much as he said he wouldn't, doesn't this mean he has to go and see that girl again...? Dammit. His job is such a pain. Moral of the story, Seth hates philosophy and ethics class. |
