“You’re going to what?” Sophia cried out in disbelief. Was Xie really proposing what she thinks he is proposing? “I admit, your offer would probably get Evray’s attention, but just how do you intend on going through with it? In case you didn’t notice, Lorelei is gone! Destroyed!”

She sighed and leaned against a wall. “Even if you had a way to bring her back, do you really think it’s worth it? You must know what she was doing to him right? I know I said I’d give you my full support but this… this can’t be the only way. Too much has been sacrificed.” She glanced over to Adour, out of the two young men here he was the only one who knew first hand what had happened. While she wasn't counting on, or even expecting, him to back her up, it would be helpful...

Sophia's sudden cry silenced Xie; the Alchemist not uttering a single word as she expressed herself. However, there was no semblance of surprise upon Xie's face as Sophia continued. That blank stare, as if it was mere formality that stopped him from interjecting. Or patronisation.

"But you've forgotten; 'things don't break in this world'!" Adour remarked slyly.

Posted Image"I'm aware of that thing's nature," Xie replied sternly as Sophia concluded. Slowly, the Alchemists lowered the case, snapping it shut. "And had been ever since I've laid eyes on it. Adour's findings only verified my suspicion." He shrugged nonchalantly.

"As for what I think; I think its stupid, idiotic, inane, retarded, ridiculous, troublesome, problematic, etcetera," the Alchemist sighed. "But what I think is unimportant." Truly, his own thoughts on the parasite was irrelevant. What matters is the weight it has on Evray.
Posted ImageCatching Sophia's glance, Adour frowned.

"I'll be frank with you, Sophia. I don't care." The blonde man then shrugged.

"What "Monsieur" Evray wants to do is none of my business. If he wants to die for the thing, let him! That is his choice, no one is forcing him. It is his freedom."

It wasn’t that she didn’t understand what they were saying, Evray had the right to choose what he wanted, but he was choosing death. Is that what he really wanted? As much as she didn’t want it to be true, it was. He told her directly that he was perfectly willing to let Lorelei kill him, because she pretended to care.

Sophia shuddered at what kind of life Evray must be living for him to be willing to go so far for a parasite that was using him. Personally she didn’t have much contact with him, but Evray had come across as a decent person at the very least, certainly more than enough to have a few friends that cared about him for real.

She sighed and bit her lip. “You still didn’t answer me. How do you intend on bringing her back?” Knowing how it would be done would open new opportunities for her… including sabotage. She hasn’t decided what she would do yet, but it never hurt to keep her options open. Letting Evray die never sat well with her, so actively helping him die is much worse. “And what would I need to do?”

Posted Image"For now, nothing,"Xie stated matter of factly. Reaching into his pocket, the boy fished out his phone, presenting it to Sophia. An older model, was a big, clunky, and antiquated thing, with a hinge denoting it as a flip.

"I'll send you a date. Until then, there's is only a few things you need to do." He motioned for Sophia to take the device.

"First, don't die. Second, after today, do not go to the hospital. Third, after today, do not attempt to contact Evray Estus. Fourth, stay connected via that phone. And lastly," Xie paused here, putting emphasis on his following words.

"Do not say anything that had happened to any authority or jurisdiction. Do you find these conditions to be acceptable?"

Posted Image"As for how..." Xie gave a pointed look at Adour.

"I refuse to discuss specifics while he is here."
Posted ImageThe man in question laughed.

"It seems Sophia isn't the only one afraid of a dagger in their back." Placing his hands behind his head, the young man nodded, before taking a step back. "Fine then, I wouldn't want to overstay my welcome," Adour remarked, before reaching into his sleeve, pulling out a card.

"My part's done anyways. Tootles, worms."

Turning to Xie, the hooded man gave one more look.

"I can't wait to see just how you will pull this off! Dies irae approaches!" WInking, Adour lifted the card.

"Fenet!"

And, like that, the mysterious stranger vanished, leaving only the Alchemist with Sophia
Posted ImageXie's face visibly relaxed as Adour left, as if a weight has been lifted off his shoulder. Letting out a sigh, the Chinese boy muttered some incoherencies under his breath, though if Sophia paid attention, she would probably deduce it to be a colorful string of varied courses.

After some time, Xie returned his attention to the Valkyrie.

"How important is it for you to know?" his emotion and tone were more natural now. And that meaning, the boy's annoyance was as discrete as a elephant in a hospital zone. But, at least that was more normal, at least for Xie.

After Xie listed his conditions Sophia stayed quiet for a moment, thinking it over. “That’s seems simple enough, you have my co-operation.” For now. That last bit went unsaid, for obvious reasons. She nodded in agreement with the young man and shot a glare at Adour. “With someone like you there’s no such thing as being overly cautious. No hard feelings.”

The sarcasm was so thick you could cut it with a knife.

After the blonde man left the Valkyrie relaxed visibly, even if she didn’t know Xie all that well it was infinitely better than being with Adour. It seemed that the alchemist shared that sentiment, so at least they have that in common. His question, however, gave her pause. “How important is it that I know?” The answer to that should be straight forward, right? “Very.” There was no need to say anything more.

Posted Image"Tch. Fine then," Xie almost spat. Despite all sense, some part of him had hoped that Sophia would just go along with whatever he had planned, regardless of what it actually entailed. Then again, if things always went how Xie would prefer it, Sophia wouldn't be here right now. Or much of the world, for that matter.

"Since you're so insistent, I'll enlighten you," Xie spoke. The girl seemed adamant in her position, and seeing how she was the only one to return from that place without waking, her assistance would be a noteworthy asset.
Posted Image"But not now, and not here. Some place where that mage can't eavesdrop," Xie muttered quietly, glancing wearily to the television set a small distance away. The program had not changed at all.

After a moment of silent contemplation, Xie turned back to Sophia.

"At the café then. Even he wouldn't screw around there." After all, Hiro Tsukasa was the most (in)famous magus in the city. Xie nodded, finding the arrangements acceptable.

"Now, if you're done, go away. I still have one more problem to deal with," the Alchemist snapped, before brushing past Sophia. Quick steps echoed as Xie made his way to the door, not even stopping before his hand reached out and opened the door.

"Recommendation; make a list of everything you want to know when you come. I won't have time waiting for you to think of questions." With that statement, Xie sighed, letting out a breath. His tone seemed tired, and a bit strained. But, he shouldn't be thinking that. No, despite all that had happened, he should count this as a blessing. After all, this ws just one more step; perhaps it was fate that it had develop like this.

Xie cringed slightly, as he moved past the doorframe. An alchemist, using such an excuse as "fate". Unheard of.

The boy closed the door behind him. If Sophia cared to, she would be able to hear voices on the other side. Or, rather, one voice, with the tone hinting it to be Xie's. But she was probably too tired for that.

This was enough, wasn't it?

Maybe she should go home... For now, she's deserved that much, at least.
