“Young man, I daresay you don’t know what’s at stake here.” Selene sighed in exasperation at Izumi’s behaviour. “Sophia is being possessed by a warrior goddess by the name of Sanngriðr, whose very name literally means very violent and very cruel. If this problem isn’t addressed properly, the best case scenario is that she loses every shred of her individuality and even her soul. Worst case scenario she becomes a raging Avatar of Violence that will kill indiscriminately. Is that what you want?”

“Selene! That’s enough!”

Sophia’s voice rang out, anger apparent in her expression and voice. Those faded however, and she leaned back against her pillow. “I… I didn’t think it was this serious. I just thought that I’d been using my powers too much…” Selene began to say something, but stopped herself before revealing what. It went unnoticed by Sophia however, who continued speaking. “Selene’s right, I need to go back, it’s for everyone’s sake. A week should be enough to make the proper arrangements like Yuzuki said, though this is a bit sudden…”

“I’m sorry it had to be this way Sophie, but we don’t have much choice. Honestly even I don’t know what the procedure entails so I can’t give you any details.” Selene paused, pondering something. “We normally won’t allow outsiders… but I think I can arrange for you come with her if you’re so insistent. I can’t guarantee your safety though.”

Upon hearing this Sophia shot up in alarm. “Wait, I thought it’s just a flight to Iceland, it should be safe, right?”

“Bluntly speaking travelling with you is dangerous as is. We’ve prepared counter measures, but when dealing with the power of the Æsir there are no guarantees. Besides, we may encounter some… hostiles along the way.”

“…Hostiles?”

“… We got word that certain demonic hosts are rallying their forces. It might be a coincidence, but I don’t believe in such things. In any case the trip probably will be a dangerous one, so I wouldn’t take this lightly when making your decision.”

He wasn't expecting to get scolded back by Selene in return, and considering him he's too easy to convince and quickly backed down like a whimpering dog with his tail between its legs. Hiding behind the closest person he could use as a hiding place. "Y-you didn't have to yell..." She was far from yelling but it sounded like she was to him anyway.

Of course he said that, but it's still quite hard for him to accept that she's going to have to leave in just a week, for god knows how long... It wasn't like he couldn't understand the reason, but... but it just felt like a completely different world to him. Like something that came out of a comic book or movies or or... something. Sure, he himself is a mage, but he never really had to personally deal with this kind of... dangerous, life-threatening situation before... Not much anyway, but still.

Then there's the very brief sign of relief when Selene said they would be allowed to accompany her to Iceland. Until she mentioned it... apparently wouldn't be safe. For a moment he was going to ask what's so dangerous about going on a plane to go to Iceland. And then she mentioned demons.

He couldn't help but recall the memories back at the river, and paled slightly. "...C-can I ask something...?" He called out timidly to Selene, or Sophia, or anyone really who could answer him. "...What does... demons... w-what do they have against her...?"

Heleth's hair jerked slightly when Izumi dived in hiding behind her, having the girl frown in irritation.

"Hrrmph" she growled as she took a step aside to expose the scared mage to the 'scary' eye contact with that other valkyrie.
Because they were valkyries, weren't they?

So the spirit of a valkyrie with bloodlust issues just possessed another one. It was just as simple as it sounded. Demons could possess other creatures so it made sense.

They just had to go to Iceland and eradicate the spirit of 'Sangria' out of the vice president. That was probably a pleasant thing to see. A way for Heleth to have give that ancient valkyrie some sort of payback.
That selene also gained some points in Heleth's eyes, as she allowed them to accompany Sophia. Very, very good.

Then she mentioned demons gathering forces. Not so good.
"Tch" she whispered "Stupid mazikin..."

Curses! It really seemed too easy, but now something felt odd. Just like Selene, Heleth had doubts it was just a coincidence.
"When do we leave?" she said in a somewhat flat tone.

Normally, Ethan would be far too scared about this to even consider joining. However, his friend was in danger, and he would have no right to call her his friend if he didn't try to help. As much as he didn't like it, he was going.

"Miss Selene, may I ask about more information about our destination. If we are to leave for it, I would prefer knowing as much about it as I can."

Information is power after all, and power can very well help save their lives.

“… I can’t say for sure, it’s always hard to figure out what the demonfolk are thinking.” The way Selene said that with just a touch of hesitation implied that she knew more than she was letting on. “Our Order hunts demons so it’s only natural that they have a grudge against us, and…” Another pause, another moment’s hesitation. “People with Sophia’s ability isn’t exactly commonplace, so it would definitely be a blow to us if we were to lose her.” The young woman grimaced, as if thinking about the potential consequences of losing Sophia.

“As for our destination… It’s the Holy Valkyrian Headquarters. There really isn’t much to say about it, except that it’s essentially a self-sustaining castle town like you’d see in the middle ages. Of course, it’s Iceland so it’s pretty much cold year round, so you guys better pack warm clothes. Once we get there we should be in the clear, but getting there is the hard part.” It was a pretty vague answer, and it didn’t seem like Selene was too inclined to reveal all the details either. She did say outsiders generally weren’t allowed after all. “We will be leaving in about a week’s time. I’ll notify Sophia of the exact date and time later, and she can pass the message onto you. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to make the proper arrangements for you. I hope Mistress Þrúðr doesn’t mind…”

The young woman saluted to Sophia before taking her leave. There was something about the way she spoke that made it seem like she was talking in numbers and statistics as opposed to actual people. It unnerved Sophia, who until now had thought of Selene as a co-worker and a friend. But the Valkyrie understood something. This was, potentially at least, war, and in wars letting emotions get the best of you can result in severe consequences, so it was best to leave personal feelings behind.

Sophia had a bit of a grim expression as she got up off the bed. Heleth’s healing had done wonders, and there was only a bit of a dull ache where she had been stabbed. “The nurses are going to flip when I ask them to leave early haha…” She chuckled darkly before turning to her friends. “… Thank you for coming with me you guys. I’ve never met Mistress Þrúðr, only heard of her in lessons, so I’m really nervous. And there’s the whole journey too…” She bit her lower lip worriedly, but soon relaxed and smiled. “But if you’re with me I feel more at ease, so... Thank you.”

...Huh.

As much as he had been throwing a tantrum and ending up getting yelled at, it was only now did the whole fact really hit him.

...She's really actually going to go? Like... away from here?

...For all people know about him being a constant traveler (especially with his flying broom and portal doors), you wouldn't have expected him to be worried about someone just taking a flight trip to another country. No, he's actually never considered his everyday trip around on his broom or through his doors to be... like, going anywhere much, because he would always be able to find his way back no matter what.

There's... there's no such promise in this for Sophia though. Even if they go with her, would... she ever come back the same, if at all... after all this?

"...I-I need to go..." The Ordinary Magician said with cracked voice, sidestepping everyone as he made his way towards the door. "If we're... if we're going then we need to pack... y-yeah, I'm just packing. Yeah..."

The young man only gave a very momentary glance back over his shoulder, a look of worry and sadness at Sophia, before immediately making himself scarce.

Heleth's gaze darkened as she listened to Selene's words. The valkyrie was lying, and was bad at that. She deliberately lied on the demons intentions.
Refraining from stating anything, the demon just crossed her arms.
The pathetic excuse about demons having a grudge on valkyries caused her to close her eyes and barely contain a reaction.
She kept listening though. Iceland, a self sufficient castle...and the fact that they were going to leave in a week time.
"A week" she whispered. A sharp, irritated whisper. It was clear she didn't appreciate such a long waiting time. Wasn't that something important? Did they really care about Sophia? Humans were cold and distant at times, and usualy with people they care nothing about. Just like demons.

After Sophia thanked them and Izumi finished speaking, Heleth stopped to take a long look at the girl inside the bed. Her dual layered eyes stared at her own hair, still on Sophia's body, and moved on the pendant on her neck.
Selene didn't say anything about a demon healing an holy valkyrie though. As soon as her eyes made contact with the blue ones of Sophia, lots of questions sparked into her head.
"She hid us something." she stated.

Ethan did his best to take it all in, their destination, their goal, the comments from the rest, all of it. Thankfully, it wasn't much; sadly, it wasn't much. There was so much that they didn't know, and Heleth's little comment about Selene hiding something did not comfort him in the slightest. They needed to prepare as best as they can.

"We will be there for you," Ethan reassured her.

The boy turned to speak to the red skinned girl, "She might be hiding something, but we cannot be sure. We must not jump to conclusions. Regardless, we need to prepare. Going into this without preparation is foolish."

The boy started to go over the things he needed to pack and do before leaving.

"...we need to prepare a lot."

It was with a heavy heart that Sophia watched Izumi leave, but she didn’t stop him. There must have been a lot going through his mind, so he probably wanted to be alone for now. She’d pay him a visit after though, as well as the others, but for now she had a lot to do as well.

Turning to her remaining friends, the Valkyrie put on a bit of a forced smile. “Even if Selene was hiding something I’m sure she wouldn’t put us in danger unnecessarily. If anything I think she’s just worried about how she was going to convince Knightmaster Sigrún to let more people on board.” She laughed softly, trying to convince herself of her own words. To say she wasn’t worried about Selene’s behaviour would be a lie, but she trusted her friend.

“I… I need to make my own preparations too, but I’ll let you know as soon as Selene tells me where we’re meeting.” Sophia walked to the door, stopping just before exiting. “… Thank you everyone. Really.”
