Of course they were incorrect. He reflected on this thought as he pulled himself out of another mud mire on that hot day. The sun was burning holes in his skin and here he was stuck out in a mire, where a glade should be according to the elemancer’s map. That lying fuck. Oh course he didn’t get that map, he’s honest to his order, but he’s an asshole. Hopefully the little bitch didn’t snitch on me. He heard a slurping, muddy burp as his Phylactery’s long tentacles pulled him from the mud. He was already planning his pay-back as he strode on the back of the creature’s back, the sun scorching him from above. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It wouldn’t be obvious or immediate, the events related here happened one and a half months after the Cryptozoologist, Lenny, was duped. Lella would not most likely notice it but wherever he went there would always be a group of bird’s. These avians, of course, were of Lenny’s creation, genetic copies of a pigeon he had caught on the rooftops one morning long ago. It’s clones were now Lenny’s eyes and ears into Lella’s life, his haunts, his routes. He was there, a bird on a bus stop, watching Lella kiss his grandparents as the sun passed over the terminal. He of course knew that was going to happen, he had been on the bannister behind Lella when he had called for the white brass trumpet, an artifact from his grandma. He had even seen his tears drying when he got out of the taxi. And he would be there, in the stands when Lella first played that in front of the band. In short Lenny was watching. To Lenny this wasn’t really obsessive, it was passive. Lenny’s mind link with his Phylactery let him spread his senses into six other beings. Each mind shard was equal in focus and skill. Lella’s routes were memorized by a single part of Lenny’s whole, but the whole knew what to do when Lella finally indicated his intention to travel into the woods. And so as he turned that corner, rounded that tree and path he would see Lenny there on one knee, inspecting a large, tiger like Hunter haemonculi as two other haemonculi, winged, oily skinned gargoyles waited in the tree above. “Oh look, it’s the sun mage” the tiger haemonculi turned its massive, toothy head towards the blond, its eyes dull and lifeless. “I haven’t seen you for a fair while yet, since the maps and all. Has the place been treating you well, any troubles with the woods?” He sounded cordial enough. A quartet of birds, the same that had tracked Lella for the intervening time, landed near the unctuous tree ghouls. Edited by Some Sketchy Guy, Apr 8 2014, 12:42 AM.

He pocketed his phone he was staring at and looked up. There was always something fishy about those birds he'd been seeing for the past month or so. Lella wasn't always the brightest or the quickest but he was one susceptible to suspicion. The whole previous month was filled with band practice and grandparents visiting. It was not one of his duties to keep birds in check. True to his nature he had gone back to the elemancer castle to talk with others about his predicament. He had a vague sense of responsibility for his fellow elemancers. It was a secret he had to keep safe, so he was assured of doing the right thing, but that he also had to accept the inevitable fact that Larry would seek him out for vengeance. In his room at night he placed sentries outside his door. Small orbs of light that illuminated his room a bit, luckily for him he had no roommates. If anyone entered the room the bulbs would immediately dissipate and Lella would wake up. It was a restless month and a half for him but he had managed it. Then, he had found something he could use to his advantage. He had found a book on homunculi. It was perfect and his grandparents had helped him plan the whole thing! Lella would be safe. Now that he was here he was a bit speechless though. He had turned the corner, just as Larry had planned, had seen. His thoughts about being safe had vanished and he knew his every move had been watched and planned out. It was frustrating to say the least but maybe he could activate his safeguard. He knew a little more about this type of beast, probably not as much as their actual creator of course. Lella's brow was obviously covered in sweat. His purple gloved hands were clenched together in fear. If he had the strength to he would have straightened out his dull red 'GAP' shirt and plaid skinny jeans that had obvious signs that he had been traveling through the forest. It was by chance he had made it here anyway. A force that had seemed to whisper to him, to say that his destiny was in the forest. It might just very well be his death. But no, no that could not do at all. When Lenny spoke the photomancer rolled his eyes. Of course he knew what was going on here. It was a long enough time to realize that the maps had been a fake. There was no question to it at all. "Get on with the pleasantries Lenny. Yeah I fooled you, but for the better good of the world. I can't believe you thought I would trust you after on day." He crossed his arms and stood in a defensive stance. He was trusting this feeling of safety he had erected for himself. He might have to try using something he had only been practicing at the tower. |

”Well at least you’re smart enough to see the troubles in front of you” Lenny said, the cut to the chase was nice, Lenny had never been very good at playing casual and dangerous, he wasn’t much of a person for mixed messages. As for Lella’s appraisal, it was accurate. He was in a deep deal of trouble, mostly because Lenny had planned for this. Lenny, in terms of his powers, was very different from many other students at Hyakuji in how his danger level could fluctuate. Lenny could be entirely defenseless one day and have an army behind him three days later, he just needed to know when to be battle ready and when not too. The only limit on the quantity of his haemonculi was the time it took to make them and the time it took for them to rot. Lenny had leveraged this to his advantage, at this moment there were around twenty five haemonculi in a response radius plus one Phylactery. Only five of them were active at the moment, the tiger, the unctuous gargoyles that were currently in a tree behind Lella after a quick flap of the wings, and the two spiky Mk. II Utility haemonculi on his shoulders. The inactive ones were tucked away out of sight, but could be activated by Lenny’s mental abilities at a moment’s notice. “I didn’t really expect you to trust me, but I didn’t expect you to betray me either. The question is what happens now, and it looks like you expect a fight” he said a bit disparagingly. He thought little of Lella’s abilities as a fighter, though Lenny obviously wasn’t going to take a step closer. Lenny felt safe behind his spiny backed Hunter haemonculi, which barred its needle teeth towards Lella. |

Lella had to take a moment to actually scan the area around them. Luckily they were out here mid-day so there was plenty of sunlight that he was absorbing. What also made him lucky was the fact that he so rarely used even half of his power. Making orbs and glowing like a light bulb were easy for him after years of practice. His biggest issue was if he could actually pull out from his training in secret at the club, to using it. The creatures all around him gave him an odd feeling of fear. Fear isn't something that was wired into Lella. In fact as a child he would often be found in the nurses room or the hospital because of his reckless endangerment of his life. This poor boy knew what fear was but he just chose to run straight into it. Just like he knew today would come, just like he knew he'd be sent to Hyakuji, just like he knew what he was doing now. Link wouldn't frown. So I won't either. Besides, I've got a trick up my sleeve...I hope. he thought to himself as he pocketed his hands and smirked. Yeah the beasts and baddies were outnumbering him, but he was quick and agile and very much a like a girl. That was to be his tool if this ended up in a fight. He just had to locate this thing called a phylactery and knock the opponent out. From what he'd gathered (though it wasn't much because reading is just too boring) that should give him time to save his skin. "Doesn't trust usually end in betrayal? It's more of something that gets tested over the years and eventually leads to a life long friendship. I don't see this happening here though, if you are looking for a fight as well? Did you want to, beat some sense into me?" he stepped a bit closer to Lenny. The creatures around were stirring something up inside of Lella and it was very akin to fear and distress. "Did you want me to actually give up any maps I have of the area? I don't want anything to be honest. Just a friend who can help me belong to a family." He stared right at Lenny with bravery in his eyes. He just hoped it was worth it. |

As Lella stepped forward Lenny stepped back, his Hunter haemonculi staying as a barrier between them. His two Dart haemonculi stayed above, their dark hued, oily skin shimmering in the sun. It was a moment of indecision, the sun shone down through the trees. His Phylactery was hidden deeper in the woods, ready to strike if need be. “Look it, I just wanted a deal, a business transaction, a handoff, simple. And look it, you betrayed me so you have to pay in some way. I’d just suggest giving up, you’re outmaneuvered and out engineered, these things surrounding you are far better suited for fighting, you’ll only harm yourself” It was a plead to reason. Lenny was the kind to fight for punishment, he had to make sure that if he was wronged, no one would wrong him again. The two Dart haemonculi took to wing a stayed above him. |
