Ethan felt as though he should rearrange his list of blockade based fears. Previously, doors were just at number 12, but after several experiences he decided it was good to move the ranking up to number 3. However, it really didn't matter where he moved it, it wouldn't let him knock on Hiro Tsukasa's office door. 'Ugh, I've been standing here for an hour! Enough of this, my friend is in immediate need of help! I can't just do nothing!' So, with great effort, the boy raised his hand to knock against the door. He curled his fist so it would knock well against the door. Then he ran down the hallway to avoid knocking the door. It would take him about another hour before he would actually knock. |

As Ethan struggled on knocking at Hiro Tsukasa's office door, he would notice over the hour several times students passing by giving him rather curious gazes. These likely only served to add more tension to the scene. Little sound came from within the office itself, though it was the time that the teacher held office hours so there could be no doubt he was within. Finally, upon knocking, Ethan would hear a small rumble as if something had crashed down. Seconds later the door to Hiro's office opened and the Spellcaster himself with dark circles under his eyes greeted the student with an uninterested gaze. "Yeah?" he questioned with no concerns for formality at all. Beyond him, a mound of paperclips were piled in the center of the teacher's desk; crumpled as if some massive design had just toppled. "Come in," Hiro added as he stepped back and held the door open and addressed the messy nature of his desk, "It's been a slow day, ahah..." |

Ethan wasn't sure what to make of the crashing sound he heard. On the one hand, it could just be a toppled tower of books, but it could potentially be an unspeakable horror of madness and carnage. Furthermore, the curious gazes that were resting on him did not help alleviate his fears or anxieties one bit. He was practically on a hair-line trigger for running away at this point. "Yeah?" An exhausted-looking man answered the door. 'Well, too late to run I guess.' Ethan glanced behind the man, taking a peek at a rather large silvery pile of clips. 'On the bright side, I don't see anything threatening.' "Come in, it's been a slow day, ahah..." Ethan nodded his head and quickly walked in, hoping to block out the thoughts about being gazed at curiously. He had a mission today; he had to get help. He had no idea what Hiro Tsukasa could do, but all the rumors and the fact that he is an established Demonology couldn't hurt the chances of aid being given. All he had to do was overcome his natural tendency of being quiet. 'I can do this. I can do this. I can do this!' The boy opened his mouth...and absolutely no sound came out. Frowning, the boy quickly switched to plan B. 'Or I can just give him this note.' Ethan quickly pulled out a prepared note he had in his pocket and gave it to the older man. [Hello, my name is Ethan S. Jones. I used to attend your Supernatural Studies classes when you taught it. I was wondering if I could ask for your assistance regarding a certain matter. One that involves a possession of some kind.] |

"Um," Hiro spoke with a bit of confusion as the boy opened his mouth but failed to talk while following this act up with passing a note, "Let's see..." His eyes darted back and forth across the written message taking it in quickly while trying to piece together what was going on. If a student came to him then usually it was a problem that was Magical in nature. It mentioned possession. Yet, why the note? Had he been cursed with silence somehow? It seemed cliche, like something ripped from the scene of a video game. Still, weirder things had happened. "Alright, Ethan," Hiro continued giving a reassuring nod, "I'll be glad to do what I can. But we'll definitely need to communicate clearer if I'm going to get anything done. Is there a reason you can't talk?" He supposed they could continue the mute-note passing game. However, it would be a long day tackling a possession issue with such an odd form of communication. "Oh," he added suddenly as if realizing something he'd forgotten, "Here, just in case you really have no means of making a sound." Rushing over to his desk and brushing the pile of paperclips aside, the Mage drew forth a notepad and a pen. Smiling, he held forth both for Ethan to take. If he really couldn't speak somehow, then they were going to need a lot of paper. But just what exactly had happened? Edited by Hiro_Tsukasa, Apr 15 2014, 11:55 PM.

As much as he did not want to admit it, Hiro had a point. Theoretically Ethan could constantly pour out notes throughout the conversation, but that would still take far too much time, no matter how fast he could write. If it was for something regarding himself, he could excuse the time delay, but he couldn't take a chance with someone else on the line. 'Ok...just need to speak. Just need to speak. Mr. Tsukasa is probably, most likely, not someone who will use my voice in a way harmful to me. So I just need to speak. ...But what if he has enemies lurking around that will jump at the chance to do that to him and to anyone around him. No, no, I have to speak. I have to speak. But my voice can be stolen, or used in some arcane ritual that might harm myself. Well what's the point of even having my voice if all I am going to do is write notes all the time? So that nothing bad happens to me. Something bad is already happening to someone else. I can't delay. I need to speak. I need to speak. I need to speak.' "I...I can speak. I just... don't like to is all." His voice was still a bit too quiet, but it was at least better than nothing. "Sir...can you please help my friend?" |

"Alright," Hiro nodded happily, "Now we're getting somewhere." It seemed the boy could talk. This was good. It would save a lot of time if they could just communicate directly. It seemed he just happened to be extremely shy. Not that big of a deal really. Still, he couldn't help but wonder how someone seemingly so passive could be wrapped up in some issue regarding a possession. "You said it had to be with a possession, right?" Hiro repeated confirming things, "And you said friend so it's not a direct problem. Can you tell me a little about your friend and the problem? The more details the better I'll be able to zero in on what we'll need to do next." While the matter may be a possession, that still left a pretty broad spectrum of what might actually be the problem. Still, it was a field Hiro had some expertise in. He had dealt with such issues in the past, and even been possessed himself unfortunately, so Ethan had definitely selected the right person to go to about the issue. Even if his role at the school had shifted into a more focused subject, there could be no doubt he was a first rank consultant on most matters of the supernatural. |

Ethan nodded his head and prepared himself for what was about to come. After all, the boy barely spoke before, speaking in detail about someone else would be out of the question before today. He had to convey everything as precisely and as accurately as he could. "Her name is Sophia Antistita and she..." Ethan stopped, realization dawning on him. He didn't really know much about Sophia. Some minor details about her childhood would be pretty much it. However, he shook his head, shaking out his useless thoughts, being friends is secondary to helping another person. "...She's a friend of mine. She has...I suppose what you can call Valkyrie based powers, but for specifics onthatyouwouldhavetoaskher." Ethan paused for a moment, gathering his breath. He really wasn't used to talking at all. "Recently, when I was talking to her, I believe I somehow found myself in her mind. I do not know how I got there, though I think it might be something to do with me, again, I don't know. Anyways, when I did I found myself in the middle of a memory of her slaughtering demons." Another breath, this time for a different reason. "She...it...whatever it was, walked up to me. We started to talk. She introduced herself as Valkyrie. She...she has a rather strong...prejudice against demons. She said her bond with Sophia was "intimate," though I don't know what she meant by that. It also mentioned a being named Nótt, but that's all I got before I was pulled out of Sophia's mind." Cold sweat started to break out across Ethan's skin, surprising him. The memory was, in retrospect, rather terrifying. Previously, he had only replayed the memory purely in a clinical manner, trying his best to dissect any information about it as best as he could. "When I had gone back to the real world, I started to ask Sophia as much as I could without raising possible attention. From what I can gather, her hair and eye color had started to change because of some spell, Valkyrie Evigilantem, some kind of prayer magic." He took a moment to recall what she had said about the spell. "Using her words, Valkyrie Evigilantem is one of two certain kind of spells she mastered back home. She offers her body to a war goddess in exchange for the goddess's prowess in combat. She says the possession is temporary, but extensive use of this power taxes her." Ethan searched his mind, but found nothing else of use. It was all he can give reliably, and he had to hope that it was enough. "Sir...can you help my friend?" |

Hiro nodded slowly and listened carefully at Ethan's hushed tone as he began to explain the exact nature of the situation. He was surprised at first that the friend in concern happened to be Sophia. He wasn't sure why, but Hiro had expected it to be a student he was not familiar with. Sophia, he knew all too well. It would be unknown to all aside those involved, but she was certainly a valuable member of Arcadia's Fire Division. "I see," Hiro began after Ethan finished his story, "Let me pose a question to you first. If this possession is something she willingly invokes, how are you sure this is something she needs help with or wants to be rid of?" Hiro was all too familiar with such situations. In the realm of Magic, great power usually tended to come at a great cost. It was usually a matter of how much the magus was willing to give up or let go on in regards to their own faith and humanity, to obtain the end results they might seek. "Did she ask for help with it?" Hiro added thoughtfully. He wouldn't be above helping out if the process was directly harmful. However, unless he was missing something in Ethan's words it didn't sound like something that might cause permanent harm to the girl. |

As much a Ethan hated to admit it, but Hiro had a point. From what Ethan could tell, the nature of the Valkyrie and Sophia's powers were linked, to get rid of one would possibly endanger the other, and knowing the strange frequency that Sophia has been attacked by demons, getting rid of the Valkyrie might be fairly dangerous. "To be honest, I do not know about any of that. I do not know how she herself feels about it, or if she knows it exists at all. She never even mentioned it, so naturally she never asked for help." However, that didn't mean he trusted it being in Sophia's head. Countless examples of just how bad this could turn out. "But, I don't trust it. I guess this might be my personal opinion, but I think it just might be dangerous. Not outright dangerous, but something more like...a bad influence I guess." A bad influence? Ethan didn't feel like this was the best comparison. He wanted to say that it was like having the devil living in a person's head, but that seemed far too extreme. Again, he didn't know much about the Valkyrie or its relationship with Sophia. Though, he could probably raise another point of concern. "It has an...intolerance towards demons. I do not know where its hatred comes from, but from what I saw I cannot imagine it being satisfied by anything less than completely wiping out them entirely. And, this is just my opinion mind you, but I can't imagine it taking much else in consideration, such as collateral damage." Ethan frowned, wondering if he was placing too much of his own thoughts into this. "Though...that is my own opinion. It may very well be that it would be aware of things more than destruction of demons. At the very least, I would like to have another discussion of it before anything happens...a peaceful one, without threats of cutting my head off." |

"Then it seems for the time being we possess a lack of information to go on," Hiro sighed after Ethan finished explaining his position, "When I still taught Supernatural Studies, one of the things I always tried to make clear was that when dealing with the supernatural in any form... the most powerful tool you have is knowledge. I think we need more research before taking action." Of course, this was a lie to some degree. Sophia was a member of Arcadia. Hiro had reviewed her potential and seen her in combat as well as this entity. If anything, it was a valuable asset to Arcadia. The organization itself held demons in its rank and so far there had been no incidents. Still, all this was confidential and would do little to reassure the boy. "I suggest doing more research first," Hiro concluded, "I'd be glad to help in whatever form you want. But I definitely don't think any action should be taken until we have a grasp of the situation, what this thing is and what it wants." "I know it's probably not the answer you want," Hiro let out a soft sigh, "But we can't go into something like this half-cocked. There's always the chance of making things worse, of course..." |

Ethan couldn't say he was exactly thrilled by the turn of events. Naturally he wasn't expecting some solution on a silver platter, but something more than this would have been a bit more wanted. Regardless, his teacher did have a point, knowledge is everything, especially in magical related matters. "Thank you for the advice sir." Ethan bowed his head and stood up. "Excuse me, I need to go to the library." He slowly moved towards the door, thinking of where exactly he needed to look. In retrospect, he really should have read it when he had the chance. |

"Not a problem at all," Hiro replied in a friendly tone as he gave a farewell wave, "And keep me posted on things. If you turn up something that requires action then I will definitely give you all the support I can." The Mage watched as the boy made his way to the office door and exited. Alone once more, Hiro let out a tired sigh. It seemed something complicated was always going on. It was true that Sophia's powers had been a boon to Arcadia. But what if there was some danger involved? It was a bridge that would have to be crossed when the time came. Still, Hiro couldn't help but feel some concern for Ethan. He knew what his situation was like all too well. And, unfortunately, once you started diving in to research and deal with such dark matters, it was rare to be able to return to the life you once had. He could only hope that this entire situation would turn out to be harmless... |
