The mall was bustling with travel people going from shop to shop trying to buy stuff and just generally hang out around the mall. Dawn was among the masses walking through them. She had decided that she needed some time off from all the chaotic events that had been going on with her being pulled into them. Hopefully the trip wouldn't end up resulting in everything going to hell.

Walking through the masses and occasionally nudging someone out of the way so she could move past. Even though everything was seeming normal so far Dawn wasn't to happy with the large amount of people.

Eventually she burst away from the group to find an unoccupied piece of wall to lean against. "Finally, I though I'd never end up getting away from them." Dawn sighed as she straightened up and stretched. From her current position she looked around the areas trying to see which shops she would be interested in.

Dawn began to walk forward picking a few shops she would be interested in, she got into the middle of the crowd again and began to walk towards her destination. Her feet got caught on something and she tripped to the ground. The bags of clothes she had falling to the ground. She rubbed her head as she stood back up and looked around, the people weren't even stopping to help her. They even did worse then that and begun to walk over the clothing on the ground.

Suddenly barking sounds filled the air, audible to Dawn even with the crowds of people around her. Several people in the crowd turned towards the sound, and their eyes widened in surprise, or in some cases, fear. The barking got louder, even hostile, and the crowd soon fled, leaving Dawn alone on the ground with her clothes… and three Great Danes. Except they weren’t normal dogs, or even real ones per-say, no, these canines are clearly robotic. One of them approached Dawn while the other two chased off any stragglers.

“Some people these days… I swear they’re more barbaric than animals.”

Yes the dog just talked, in a sophisticated feminine voice too. The dog picked up a few of Dawn’s clothes with her teeth, somehow managing to not damage them further, and dropped them on the girl’s lap while the other two dogs returned. One of them trotted up to the two and nudged the dog that had helped Dawn with is nose. “I don’t think we should stay too long Esther, it looked like we caused quite the commotion.”

“Yes, yes Jake, calm down, we’ll be on our way soon.” Esther looked at Dawn and tilted her head. “Are you alright young lady? I don’t detect any injuries, but it’s best to make sure.”

Dawn turned her head towards the sound of the barking and the surrounding crowd beginning to leave. She tilted her head inquisitively as she saw three large robotic dogs walking towards her. Whilst it wasn't really that extraordinary considering what one could find in Hyakuji it was still strange enough to warrant a bit of a quizzical look.

"Huh?" Dawn stated still questioningly even after the dog robot had grabbed the clothing around the ground and put it in her lap. Two of the dogs began to have a conversation, this was becoming a bit more unusual then she was expecting it to be. On the positive side however at least the robots appeared to be helping her clean up her shopping. There was also the fact that robot dogs were pretty cool to begin with.

"Oh?" Her head met with the robot's face. "Yes I'm quite alright thank you." Dawn chuckled covering her mouth with her hand. "It was just a trip, nothing serious thankfully." She gathered the clothes that were sitting in her lap and placed them back into the bag.

"Thank you, for the help. I'm sorry about the trouble." She said as she looked back towards the robot, her eyes were a bit weary about them simply because this was normally how most of the chaotic events began. Something strange snowballing out of control.

“That’s good then, though I’m afraid we ended up causing more trouble than we solved…” Sure enough several security guards were coming towards them with their nightsticks at the ready. Esther shook her head in a disapproving manner. “If they had done their jobs in the first place it wouldn’t have come to this. Brogan!” The last dog, upon hearing his name, perked his ears. “Go distract them while we make our escape, we’ll meet you back at the lab.”

Brogan didn’t seem too happy about that, and his ears drooped in response. “Why do I have to be the one who does it? Why not Jake?”

Esther growled while Jake looked away, secretly glad that he didn’t have to deal with this. “Because YOU didn’t want to help with the shopping earlier, so you have to pull your weight around here somehow.”

“Fine, but I’m telling Maria when I get back!” With that Brogan ran towards the guards… and started to play a game of reverse keep away with their nightsticks.

“… Everything’s a game to that boy. At least he’s doing his job.” Esther nodded at Jake before turning to Dawn. “We still have some shopping to do if you want to accompany us, the crowds can be quite bad at this hour.”

When the guards started walking towards the group of dogs and herself Dawn stood up and got ready to explain the situation. However she didn't end up having to do that simply because one of the dogs was dispatched to distract them. Dawn curiously looked towards the remaining dogs. They invited her to go shopping with them.

Dawn raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Oh, of course." Dawn smiled as she spoke, this would probably end up making her life all the more easier. She picked up the bags that now held her clothing yet again and gestured for the dogs to lead the way. "That would make it much easier." It definitely would especially considering she barely escaped the crowd earlier.

"Do you often end up having trouble shopping?" Dawn inquired towards the dogs. "I can't imagine it would be easy." She continued speaking, she imagined how hard it would be to shop if she was a robotic dog. There were limitless amounts of problems beginning with actually carrying the items and ending with being chased around by the security guards. She was quite curious about how the robotic dogs fared well in the situation.

“One would think it’s difficult, but we generally just go to stores that have been introduced to our creator, Maria. That way they know who we are and are usually kind enough to help us pick out and bag our purchases.” Esther took the lead while Jake trotted along by Dawn’s side. “Though it turns out she’s just too lazy to go shopping on her own, so she just has us do it for her. You’d think a teacher would be more responsible than that… but not Maria. And there’s also the content of the shopping list she gave us… Jake, what did she want us to buy this time?”

“Fourteen packets of ramen, complete DVD sets of “Full Metal Panic!”, including “Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu” and “Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid”, “Code Geass” and “Code Geass R2”, and one additional series that we are supposed to surprise her with.”

If robot dogs could sigh Esther definitely would be sighing right now. “There you have it. I know she has more free time now, but at this rate she’s going to end up becoming a shut-in.” She lifted her head in a huffing motion and glanced over at Dawn as she walked. “Well, orders are orders, we’ll get her what she wants. How about you young lady? What else did you need to buy?”

Dawn listened quietly as the robots began to talk. She giggled a little bit at the shopping list for their creator. It sounded like she was a bit of a shut in, Dawn didn't voice this opinion though lest she offend her current companions. They kindly went out of their way to help her so offending their creator would not be a wise idea at all.

"Me?" Dawn said as she pointed at herself. "I don't really know, I was just shopping around for whatever I thought was interesting." Dawn gave a small smile, normally she was pretty blunt with her shopping, she'd get in, get what she wanted and get out but today she decided to just go crazy. It was a pretty bad day to do that unfortunately, however Dawn couldn't predict the future so the outcome couldn't really be avoided.

Something that the dogs had said prior came back to Dawn's mind. "Does your creator teach at the high school?" She hadn't remembered seeing the dogs around the school, this peaked her interest. She wondered what subject their creator would teach, chances are it was probably science but it didn't hurt to ask to keep the conversation going.

“Maybe you’ll find something while you’re with us then.” Jake barked with a hint of laughter in his voice. “Not many can say they’ve gone shopping with dogs before!” The trio continued walking, passing all sorts of stores, though none of them seemed to interest the dogs and they walked right by them without a second glance. “If you see something that interests you let us know. We’re in no rush to buy those DVDs.”

Esther was the one who spoke up when Dawn inquired about their creator. “Yes, her name is Maria Anning, she teaches Science at Hyakuji High. Maybe you’ve heard of her.” The robotic canine scoffed, or at least did the gesture. “Though saying ‘teach’ is being rather generous, considering how irresponsible she can be. She accidentally set loose a squad of robots on her students during her first class.”

"Not many can say that indeed." Dawn chuckled to herself as she thought that this situation had turned into a good kind of weird instead of the usual, which was everything blowing up around them kind of weird. It was nice that even though it turned into a strange situation Dawn didn't exactly have to worry about bad things happening for now.

"Oh, I have heard of her." Dawn said as she raised a finger to her chin as if trying to remember what she had heard of her. "A few people in the dorms were talking about that whole situation, kind of makes me wish I chose science as a lesson, it sounds fun." Dawn smiled, while she ended up choosing some pretty fun classes herself she always heard of some truly crazy things happening in the science classes. She felt like she missed out a bit but she was alright with her class list.

"Come to think of it I've never heard how that situation resolved itself." Dawn asked inquisitively, she had heard most of the story but never how they managed to stop the robots. "Surely it would be hard to stop a squad of robots." Dawn wondered out loud as she tried to think of a way that she could stop one. Chances are she'd just pummel it with magic until it stopped moving, beyond that however Dawn didn't really have much in the way of tactics.

“Fortunately the students were more competent and the rampaging robots were subjugated before they could cause much damage. The non-defective robots were a big help too.” She said damage, but it was just a few scorch marks on tables and chairs and a bunch of broken miniature robots, so all in all it’s nothing too unusual for Hyakuji. “It’s really a shame, Maria is quite brilliant when it comes to robotics and artificial intelligence, but she’s getting lazy.”

Esther kept walking as Jake ran off to look at a Takoyaki stall, giving the owner quite a scare. Fortunately the former barked at him before the stall owner could call security and Jake came back to the group whining slightly. “But Estherrrrr they look so good!”

“We’re not here to cause trouble Jake, besides you don’t even have any taste buds. I swear sometimes I feel like I was made to babysit you and Brogan, probably Maria too.”

“Well Maria did program you to be the most responsible one out of us all.” Jake commented offhandedly before realizing that he probably said something he shouldn’t have. “I mean umm… uhhh… What would we do without big sister Esther?”

The robotic canine in question shot a look at Jake and made the sighing motion. “So she made me so she could be even lazier, why am I not surprised?”

Dawn nodded her head as she listened to the robotic dog, it sounded like the situation ended up well which is always good. If the school got horribly damaged by every class that went out of control there wouldn't even be a school to begin with. It was good that there were students capable of handling themselves.

When one of the robotic dogs came back Dawn raised her eyebrow before quickly running back to the stall and buying some of the food from the stall. She bought it back for the dog. "Here you go." She held it out to the dog to allow it to take it from her hand, it was the least that she could do considering they had helped her out when she fell over. After all she had plenty of money left over to work with, one of the perks for not needing a lot of things really.

"Isn't that the general nature of humans though?" Dawn smiled as she responded to the dog who was annoyed at her creator's laziness. "Trying to find ways to make hard tasks easier." This was of course still missing the point that their creator really should be doing this stuff herself. "If it's worth anything I think you are doing a great job." Dawn commented kindly, they seemed to really work hard for their master despite how lazy she apparently was. That was worthy of praise in itself.

“Oooooo thanks miss!” Jake lapped up the takoyaki with his tongue which… would feel surprisingly life like to Dawn’s hand. Looks like Maria put extra effort in to make that happen, as well as the ability to eat. One would think robot dogs wouldn’t need to eat, but don’t tell that to Jake who looked really happy with his treat.

Esther, on the other hand, looked mildly annoyed instead. “Thank you miss, but ultimately it’s a bit of a waste.” Practical as ever isn’t she? Well it comes with being the responsible one out of them all. “Strictly speaking we CAN eat, but it’s only useful as a backup power source. And seeing how neither of us are low on power…”

“Oh come on Esther, don’t be such a spoilsport! Why can’t we indulge ourselves once in a while? They were really good!”

“For the last time Jake, you don’t even have taste buds. You only think it tastes good because of the chemical composition of the takoyaki is appealing to humans.” Esther’s comments left Jake grumbling something about her about being a “stick in the mud know it all”, to which she nipped his ear in retaliation. Jake yelped and darted behind Dawn to hide from Esther while whimpering slightly. “I’m telling Maria that you’re bullying us Esther!”

Dawn smiled as the one known as Jake took the takoyaki, she was happy to give him that. It was a bit weird that his tongue felt surprisingly lifelike but Dawn just ignored it, it was probably due to their creator's personal taste about robots. It seemed like incredible effort would've had to be put into it but if their creator wanted them to have life like tongues its was their her own choice.

"There isn't harm in indulging even if it turns out to be a waste." Dawn said as she smiled. She didn't exactly care that much about how efficient it all was, at the end of the day it felt nice to indulge in something even if it wasn't the most effective thing to do.

When the dog named Jake ran behind her Dawn chuckled. "Is every trip this crazy?" She questioned out loud. It was a wonder that the dogs could actually get anything done with their conflicting personalities. The dogs were quite fun to hang around though and Dawn's day drastically brightened due to the trip. She silently thanked the dogs for making her day more fun. Prior to this it was shaping up to be a rather bad time.

“Now that you mention it, it really is a wonder how we get anything done. Then again it’s rare that we run into extraordinary circumstances like today, so maybe that had something to do with it.”

“What she means is, we never get treated by nice young ladies such as you miss!” Jake brushed up against Dawn’s legs and nuzzled them happily before Esther nipped his ear again and he backed off.

“Well, yes that’s what I meant, but you didn’t have be so blunt about it Jake.” Esther looked away in an almost bashful manner before chiding Jake again. “And don’t do that to a lady! I swear you have no sense of shame…”

Jake’s ears drooped but he didn’t leave the girl’s side as they walked along. This continued until they came across a video store. “Let’s see… You two wait out here please, I’ll be done shortly.” With that she went inside the store while Jake sat next to Dawn obediently, looking around with all the curiosity of a child at play. “Come to think of it we never got your name miss! Can’t believe we forgot about that, so sorry!”

"Ah, my name is Dawn. My apologies, I forgot to introduce myself." Dawn said as she bowed towards the canine, they were certainly a lively bunch. Dawn had to wonder what their creator was like in comparison to these dogs. Then again from the sounds of it she already had a pretty good idea of what she was a like.

"Bit of a silly name really." She smiled, she always liked her name because it was something that was an often occurring event and it had symbolism. Unfortunately the symbolism became warped along with her childhood, Dawn frowned as she thought about it. It seemed like that life wasn't exactly planning on leaving her alone either which made it even more disturbing.

"Unfortunately you are named what you are." Dawn gave a weak smile, normally she would put more effort into having a more believable smile but at the current point in time she couldn't really even muster the effort. She wondered how the whole situation was going to end. Would it end with her freedom? Or her becoming a trophy again.
