Now this is an odd place for him to be around, especially at this time of the night. He was about three floors lower and twelve rooms further than where he usually would have been in his Room 413 at Yuki Dormitory. Or to actually just say it, he's on the girl's only floor of the dormitory, at room numbered 123.

It also happened to be the room of a certain Valkyrie he knew.

While it should be common knowledge that he often visits the first room on the third level (which incidentally is also a girl's only floor) because his partner stays there, it's a bit rare to find him loitering around the place that is actually out of bounds for the male-kind at this time of the night. Even more so when it's not at Room 301. The fact that he's actually wearing a jacket and a knit cap instead of his usual suit and going hatless should also be a source of much suspicion.

Even though it's probably just him changing his fashion sense.

...It's still odd for him to be here at this time, standing in front of Room 123's door, waiting and seemingly contemplating something for a moment before giving a sigh, and gave a couple of knocks.

He didn't just break the door like he usually would too.

Then again it is nighttime after all. It should be an unspoken law that everything should be quiet.

It took a moment for the door to open, but when it did…

“Mnnn… yes?”

A sleepy looking Sophia stepped out, rubbing her eyes and dressed in PJs. Upon seeing who it was however, her eyes lit up a bit in curiosity and she gave the young man a small smile. “I never thought I’d see you knocking on my door, let alone at this hour.”

She stepped out into the hallway and closed the door behind her, not wanting to disturb her sleeping roommate. “What can I do for you? Last time I saw you was when we had that little dance lesson after you finished your cleaning duty.” A thought occurred to her and she stuck her tongue out a bit teasingly. “Did that lesson spark your interest in dancing or something?”

Well she'd better be ready to bite her tongue though, since he wasted no time whacking her on the head with a well-placed chop. "You're being stupid," He said with blankly completely unimpressed.

...It was also very rude to call someone out at night and then the first thing you do is hit them and call them stupid.

Well, never mind that, he probably wouldn't change that attitude of him for a long while so might as well just go along with it. "You would do better to cover yourself up more when greeting people," He said pointedly at her... not really much appropriate appearance for the public. Though at least he managed to get himself not to stare too much before drawing his eyes back up to her eyes. "Or actually, get out from that PJ,"

...Wait what? "...I mean get changed, dammit," He added hastily, mentally cursing his brain for the odd word choices, crossing his arms and clicking his tongue irritatedly. ...Anyway! "And make it quick. You're going with me on a walk,"

It was perhaps one of the few really odd requests that he would make. Probably not even a request, his word choices kind of didn't give her any other options. Not that she can't deny if she doesn't want to of course.

“You’re the one knocking so late at night.” Sophia responded with a little pout. “If I got dressed first you’d be out here waiting for at least… What?” The girl could only stare incredulously at Seth with a light blush creeping onto her cheeks as he told her to… Oh. Okay, that makes more sense. “Sheesh… You had me worried for a moment there… Alright, give me a minute.”

She returned to her room and started looking for some clothes to wear. It was kind of hard doing this in the dark, but she managed to put on some jeans and a sweater. Come to think of it he never said what they were going to be doing aside from going for a walk, which came off as somewhat strange. But Sophia trusted he had his reasons, besides he seemed rather serious…

A moment later she joined Seth in the hallway again. “I’m ready now, care to tell me where we’re going or what it is that you wanted to talk about? Even if you wanted to talk to me in private it didn’t have to be this late you know?”

"It just came up now," The young man curtly replied to the girl, having been leaning against the wall besides the doorway waiting for her. The moment she was out he turned away and immediately walked off without another word of explanation, at just enough speed for the Valkyrie to catch up. In fact he wouldn't even bother saying or replying to anything until they're actually out of the school and walking down the cold empty street of the city, made light only by the street lamps.

...So pushy, what's up with him...?

It was a cloudy night, and the new moon was barely visible through the clumps of cloud.

“What just came up n… Hey wait, Seth!” Sophia ran after the young man with a bit of a huff. Seriously… first he comes knocking on her door in the middle of the night and now he’s just walking away without even answering her question? Okay MAYBE it wasn’t the best idea to be talking in the middle of the hallway after hours, and there’s also the fact that guys aren’t really supposed to be on the girls’ floor of the dorms, but he could at least say something.

… Fine, guess not. The silence was really irritating, they had been walking for quite some time already and still not a word from the young man. Truth to be told she was also feeling a bit nervous with the whole atmosphere caused by the darkness. Finally she stopped under a street lamp and called out to Seth. “We’re pretty far from campus now, so would you please tell me what’s going on?”

Well finally one of them said something, though from the look of surprise on his face as he turned around, he wasn't at all expecting the girl to speak. There was a moment's pause, before he gave a sigh.

He's actually standing quite a bit away from her, seeing as he pretty much just marched on without even waiting. "I heard that Kirisame kid went on a date with you. Is that right?" He asked, his tone neutral as though he's just asking for confirmation. Though a bit difficult to see his expression since he's out of the light, but considering it's him she probably won't be able to tell anyway.

Though how did he know... "He wouldn't shut up about it,"

Oh. Right, their rooms are right next to each other, aren't they? "He sounded like he had a lot of fun,"

“Eh? Well… yeah, we did go to the amusement park together.” Once again she was a bit hesitant in using the word “date” for various reasons. But seeing how it was Seth she was talking to, she was more curious about why he would be asking about that. Sophia knew that Izumi probably would have been going on about it, but she never thought of Seth as the type who would be curious about something like this.

“Yes he looked really happy at the end of the day, even though there was a little… incident.” A small smile appeared on her lips as memories of that day came back to her. “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy myself either, it was the first time I had so much fun in a while.” The girl paused as if pondering something. It couldn’t be that Seth’s… Nah, this was Seth they were talking about, it can’t be. Then why did he want to talk about this? She tried to get a good look at his face, but couldn't get a read on what he was thinking. "Why so curious?"

He didn't answer. At least, not immediately. The ambient lighting that partially illuminated his face showed him nodding in understanding. "I see. ...He's never usually that happy before, you know," The more perceptive one would realize this to be quite the surprising revelation besides the fact that he was curious enough to care about the Valkyrie's personal affair. You wouldn't really think of him to be the kind to give much of a damn to a next door neighbor but... apparently he does?

"Another question," ...Wait, that's it? Doesn't he have more to ask about those two, if he's really that curious- "I heard from tomato girl that a bunch of delinquents were beaten up by the vice president of the student council. Immediately afterwards another student was harmed by her,"

...Oh boy.

So… Izumi’s never that happy? While she was definitely glad that she was able to change that, it worried Sophia that such a happy moment was rare in the Ordinary Magician’s life. Considering how he’s almost always confident and teasing and whatnot, she thought that he led a happier life. It probably has to do with his family, what she saw at Tokyo was saddening to say the least…

Of course, there were more important things in Seth’s mind it seemed, and the young man’s words made the Valkyrie tense up. It didn’t take a mastermind to figure out who the tomato girl was, and she inwardly cursed the demon. “Yes that was me, what of it?” There wasn’t a single hint of remorse for her actions against the delinquents that day and she looked dead in Seth’s eyes. “I caught them breaking school rules and confronted them about it. They didn’t take too kindly to it, so I taught them a lesson, simple as that.” A moment’s hesitation, then she spoke up again. “The other student was… regrettable. He had done nothing wrong until he lied about what he was; all I did was reveal his true self.”

Yet again, a lack of any immediate answer, let alone one that would explain his out-of-place inquiries. "His true self, was it..." The young man said nothing more about it, simply crossing his arms and seemingly pondering, tapping his foot on the ground.

Was it really, indeed...

"Another question," He repeated, with the same placid, neutral tone as he had used before. This time however, the Valkyrie should be able to guess what he as on his mind. "I heard the vice president of the student council was seen partaking in unsightly activities at the local club," He said, the same factual intonation was maintained throughout his sentence. Which was odd if he was supposed to be asking a question. "Not only that, she was also involved in a fight,"

His constant third-person pronoun usage is kind of unnerving...

“Hmph, the only thing unsightly about that incident was the fact that those dealers weren’t caught sooner.” Sophia’s reply was cold and unforgiving, and her stance was a guarded one, even if it didn't show any open hostility. “The police obviously wasn’t doing their job, so I did what was necessary to bring them to justice.”

She narrowed her eyes a bit as her patience wore thin. “I’ll ask you again, why are you asking these things?” He didn’t ask her anything per-say, they actually sounded more like accusations, but that was beside the case. “Do you have complaints about my actions like Heleth did? I’ll tell you what I told her: If you want to report me, fine. But if you want to take me in you’ll have to make me to go with you.”

There was something in her words that, for the second time, caught him in surprise. He stared at her, blinking for a moment, then... "...Pffffft- HAHAHAHAHAAAHAHA!!!"

The young man all of a sudden burst out in a hearty amused laugh that rang painfully across the dark and quiet street. "Did you hear that Seth?! She said that 'J' word, she's doing this for justice she said!!" It was as though what she said had been nothing more than a hilarity to the young man(...?), actually doubling over and running out of breath from just laughing his lungs out. "Wh-... what, is she... ahaha...! Is she thinking she's... a hero of justice or something? Hahah!!"

"Alright- that... that's enough," And then he stopped laughing, almost too abruptly to be a typical change of attitude. Whatever that was, it sounded as though he had became two completely different person in that tiny period of time...

Seth took a deep breath as though recovering for the air in his lungs, straightening up with his hands on his hip. His expression was back to the impassive look after it was... clearly far more entertained and amused than he should be.

To say the sudden outburst of laughter was nerving was an understatement, and Sophia took a step back in alarm. “What… what was that?” The Valkyrie searched Seth’s eyes for any sign of whatever or whoever it was that had brought about the sudden change. “That wasn’t you, was it Seth? You’re more collected than that. Or is the idea of justice that big of a joke to you?”

Suddenly she seemed to relax, folding her arms as she tapped her chin in curiosity. “No, that shouldn’t be right. I don’t pretend to know you very well, but I’m willing to bet that’s not the case. Then could it be…?” Sophia’s lips curled into a small smile and a gentle glow seemed to emanate from her eyes. “Perhaps you and I have something in common…”

FLASH!!!

A great eruption of bright white light roared out blindingly from him without a warning, very momentarily turning the street from nighttime to daylight-!

CRACK!!!

Following the flash of light was the sensation of something tearing past her, narrowly missing her head, before the sound of a cringing crash came behind her. If she turned around, she would find impaled into the street and quivering violently from the force of the impact, a katana. "STOP FOOLING AROUND!!!"

The young man yelled out, and this time it wasn't in the very uncharacteristically excited tone as it was before. It was a cold, steely frown and lacking any sense of amusement. "He wasn't joking," He said, referring to none other than the other existence within himself. "And I'm not either. What the hell is wrong with you?"
