To My Dear Arcadians,

I'm sorry, but after thinking it over I have decided that I need to be the one to settle this. I wasn't a fan of the bait and switch ploy last time nor how things went down in the end. In any case, we know our target's location now. I'll be taking the Vampire Killer for real this time and finishing matters on my own. You need not involve yourself further.

"Why am I not surprised?" Yamato scoffed as he tossed the paper down onto the console before him. The Control Room was a frenzy as operators moved about coordinating information and scrambling to get a handle on the situation. The call had already gone out. All available Fire Division members were to report in immediately for a crisis level incident. With little to do but wait, Yamato Hotsuin could not help but reflect back on the incident that led to this sudden turn of events.

It was during the last mission...

====

With a sudden stop, Hiro Tsukasa paused in the small clearing he had fled to. Arcadia was in hot pursuit and though many objected to his reasoning, Yamato's plan to flush Hiro into a nearby clearing had gone through. However, it was easy to have doubts about the plan. The location seemed to serve no tactical advantage. Bathed in the moonlight peeking through the opening in the treetops, Hiro let out a calmed sigh before turning to face his pursuers.

"Then I guess there's no more running is there~" he teased with a shrug of his shoulders. However, what happened next came as a surprise to all but those who had been in on it. With a sudden flash of bright light the open clearing began to be encircled with blue flames just as Arcadia's Leader dove to the side out of the circle. It seemed to be a field for entrapment, but it had avoided Hiro. Yet, that wasn't so surprising. What was more shocking happened to be the fact that the circle had caught something.

Posted Image

Flashing for a moment as bolts of energy crackled around the form, a woman appeared being dragged down from the air and into the center of the circle. It was the same witch the group had encountered several times before in their clashes with the Ordo Dracul. Time and again she served as an easy escape for its members. It was clear her utility was too strong a card in the Order's hand and thus a special gambit had been suggested by Yamato to lure out and trap the witch before she proved a further nuisance to Arcadia's efforts.

"Man," Hiro sighed as he rubbed the back of his head, "I feel really bad about deceiving everyone on this..."

"A small price to pay," Yamato reassured him emerging from nearby, his body glowing with the same phantom-like blue aura as the circle of flames, "But now we have their ace as well as a source of information. It was easy enough to manipulate the Dragon's Veins within Hyakuji to focus in on a point of our choosing. I had a hunch she was keeping tabs on our movements waiting for an opportune moment to make a play for the whip. Setting up this trap was almost too easy."

"I suppose so," Hiro laughed before stretching slowly satisfied the ruse was over, "Well, let's capture her properly and detain her within the base."

"Why?" Yamato questioned with a sinister air about his voice, "So she can just escape again later? I have complete control over this field; I will get the answers we seek. Witch, tell us where your Masters hide!" Ignoring Hiro's order, Yamato stepped within the circle confident that with so much energy redirected to the area there was no one present that could intrude.

"I'll tell you nothing," Actrise mused with a playful laugh, "Even I am expendable towards the resurrection of our great Dark Lord..."

"That's easy to say," Yamato smirked, "We'll see how you feel after I hold you to it!" With a snap of his fingers, the circle'd field exploded into pale blue flames. The Witch known as Actrise cried out in stark pain as she was literally placed within an endless inferno; her skin immediately boiling creating a rather gruesome scene for all onlookers. Yet, through it all Yamato remained unharmed with his wild eyes focused on his prey.

"Stop!" Hiro called out in a commanding tone that he rarely used, "What the hell do you think you're doing!?" Arcadia's Leader flew into action trying every spell available to pierce the field Yamato had created and somehow stop the torture that was unfolding before everyone. However, the Mage already knew it was futile. The Dragon Stream: also known as the ability to manipulate leylines (known in Japan as veins of the dragon) was a powerful ability. Having channeled so much force into one area to spring the kind of trap they had planned meant that it would require some feat on the cosmic level to somehow counter what had been put into motion.

Hiro's voice became hoarse with chanting as he moved from spell to spell each one equally ineffective at accomplishing anything; though little of of his words could be heard over the banshee-like wailing of the individual being slowly cremated alive for all to see. Nearby, Makoto turned away from the scene unable to watch any further.

Posted Image

"Yamato," Makoto spoke softly to herself, "Why?" Unlike the rest of Arcadia, she had worked with Yamato in the past. He was known for his harsh decisions and unyielding judgement on things. This was what made him so successful. However, she knew it was true that at times this same way of thinking came across almost too cruel. Makoto was a warrior. She had steeled her heart against any mercy for those she faced in combat. However, even this was a bit too much to bare.

It was a frightening sanity crushing scene. However, when things came to a stop. The thing that remained crumpled into a small heap of impossible pain muttered out a single sentence: a location.

With a nod, Yamato snapped his fingers and after another burst of flames the Witch was relieved of her suffering forever.

====

Yamato shook his head slowly. There was no doubt in his mind that his method had been in the right. It was because of Hiro's own weak-willed tactics that Arcadia continually ran aground various problems in their struggles. And as if only to prove the matter, now a tantrum over leadership ideals had sparked a much more dire scenario. Certainly, others had felt the same as Hiro over the situation. However, with his current course of actions, Arcadia's Leader was not only playing into the hands of the Ordo Dracul but jeopardizing their entire mission of defending the Vampire Killer.

Fire Division would be there soon. Arcadia's Interim Leader wanted nothing to do with explaining Hiro's actions, so at his sudden order one of the Control Room Operators put up the message across every screen that filled the room. Everyone could read their leader's sentiments in his own words directly.

With little more to do at this point than wait, Yamato put his hands behind his back and stood at attention while he passed the time for another gathering of Arcadia.

Having already been in the downtown region, or at least, above it, Lucy was swift to respond to the call. Tapping her ear-piece twice in confirmation of the message, the green-brown haired teen banked through the sky as her Jet Engined Striker unit, modelled after the F86 Sabre from the Korean War, decelerated to slower speeds. Protected from the elements by her magic, the Witch spotted an open parkway that was clear and long enough for her to land in without much problem.

Flipping over as she approached the ground, Lucy used the thrust from the two Magical Engines inside the protective plane-like parts to come to a stop. Dismissing the Jet Striker back to hammerspace storage, the teen walked the short distance to Hiro's bookshop, and the pocket dimension holding the Arcadia Mansion. Heading into the shop after a quick check to make sure she was presentable, Lucy summoned her Arcadia Uniform as she walked into the hidden dimensional pocket holding the organisation's headquarters. Modelled after her uniform from her home dimension and time, the teen's well-endowed, yet toned body was clad in a blouse and red jacket with Liberion's symbol on the shoulder, atop a black leotard, though she had recently tweaked the design a bit to add a skirt for when she wasn't using one of her striker units.

Upon reaching the control room, Lucy stood at attention, though withholding the salute.

"Lucy M. Chulainn, reporting in, sir!"

Transitioning from attention to at ease, she stood with feet a shoulder's width apart and arms behind her back, ready to receive the mission briefing and her orders.

Urgh. Crisis. That never meant anything good. Damon had heard about the utter mess that had happened on the last mission, both grateful and agitated about missing it. On the one hand, he would have done something to try and avoid such a disturbing ending. On the other, going against a leader? Well, as sick as it was to think, he'd have prooobably been mind wiped and kicked out. These new Primes, they didn't have any history with how this branch worked.

Damon warped in from the shadows, his normal garb quickly being replaced with his Arcadian Uniform. No Hiro in sight, just...a message on a monitor. "...Oh you have to be kidding me..." Damon sighed out. This was THE last thing they needed right now, especially after the last mission's shenanigans, and especially if it was confronting the enemies, who wanted Hiro, on his own, with the only instrument that could stop them.

When the HELL would people learn not to run off on their own!?

"Tch...." Shad grunted at the sight of Yamato, upon teleporting in from a rousing game of cards with himself. Needless to say, he cheated constantly in every game he played, yet still lost everything he owned to himself. There was a lesson somewhere, but Shad couldn't figure it out either way as the alarm in his head buzzed angrily, forcing him to reach into his hat to pull out the small automated clock and tossed it out the dorm window to the bushes below.

Either way, it felt like months since the last mission that a certain Intern Leader screwed up instead of allowing Shad to simply use his soul weapon to make her lose all control and make her unable to leave. Shad forgave Hiro afterwards, but that blunderheaded commander aka Yamato nearly caused him to break out his true nature by poisoning the leylines. Which came with the unfortunate side effect of creating the Wooden Clapper hands side-power that he vastly disliked, not to mention the immense feeling of being killed over and over again since he was in direct contact to the leylines. So in other words, he disliked Yamato for nearly killing him with that stupid Dragon Stream move.

"Huh....I'm guessing Hiro-sensei isn't in Japan then. Which is a pity because I think one of those Ordo Dracul guys tried to destroy the train to take me out, and another tried to mess up my field trip in Iraq. Obviously they thought fighting me to get the location of the base and the whip would be easy." Shad muttered reading the screen, completely unaware that the 4Kings weren't afflicated with the vampire organization. "Why the heck does he want to give up the whip so bad now? Did something happen?"

Next to join the assembled members of Arcadia was Sophia clad in her Arcadian armour and spear in hand. Upon being notified of the Crisis level incident the Valkyrie rushed over to the control room, a certain… eagerness evident on her features. Their last encounter with a leading member of the Ordo Dracul showed exactly what kind of creatures they were up against, and Sophia for one was more than willing to fight the forces of the undead.

“Sophia Antistita, reporting.” A sharp salute accompanied her announcement as she looked at the message Hiro left them, narrowing her eyes slightly at his rather rash decision. Strong as he might be he can’t just storm into a Vampire lair on his own, let alone the place where their Lord is hiding. It was bound to be guarded by a legion of the fiends, if not more. “… I take it we’re to give Hiro-sensei back-up as he storms the fortress?”

So he's off playing the hero again by himself... and unlike last time, this is for real?

Heh...

"AS MANLY AS THAT IS HE SHOULDN'T BE HOGGING ALL THE FUN TO HIMSELF DAMMIT!!!" The young man Seth Ryouga, or rather, the sentient Metavirus in him groaned out his displeasure for all the wrong reasons, which may or may not attract disapproving looks from the rest of his coworkers...

"Will you quit that already, you've been saying that ten times now since we got here!" ...Including the very same person the Metavirus had been possessing, which would make him look very odd considering Seth apparently seemed to argue with himself in the eyes of everyone else... Not that he seemed to care too much about it though.

Nevertheless, as Seth forced himself to take back his seat in the briefing room while ignoring the Metavirus' endless ranting in his head, he couldn't help but feel like the situation actually came as a bit of a relief. In all honesty, and V agrees with him as well, he would have preferred this straight out, no lies and trickery outcome over the last one. More so than just the fact that he dislikes being lied to.

...Besides if people would just remember what happened last time... Seth's mind went back to Yamato, one of the Primes and acting as Arcadia's temporary leader in Hiro's absence, gritting his teeth as he remembered the cold, cruel expression as he mercilessly burned down the witch he managed to caught in their last mission, all for one small information. True, it's vital and if it wasn't for that they probably wouldn't have been able to get this far into their operation. But...

Damn... that's just way too cruel...

Harsh decisions and unyielding judgement...

...Would he do the same to his fellow allies as well if they are jeopardizing his plans...?

Worst of all, Seth could very much understand his methods...

"Lavender Smith reporting," The familiar lilac-haired aeromancer remarked as she entered the control station, currently dressed in a woodland camouflage BDU and matching combat trousers and black combat boots, with her hair tied up in a high ponytail and her sidearm kept in a holster on a belt around her waist. The aeromancer would be joined not long after by Selene, the pumpkin-haired girl already having activated her Arcadian garb, entering the scene with her summoned Valkyrie by her side.

Selene shook her head slightly at the sight of Yamato, having to steel herself to be able to just maintain eye contact with the acting Prime - the corporate heiress had left the control station the moment she saw on-screen how he'd callously executed the witch from the Ordo Dracul. Just what kind of a person were they answering to? "Just what is Tsukasa-sensei thinking, running ahead like that?" the corporate heiress wondered - as if things weren't already bad enough as they were!

"Tell me our plan is to provide Tsukasa-san with backup," Lavender remarked, hoping they'd be able to act fast before Hiro got himself into any serious trouble; even as the Sorceror Supreme, the aeromancer was somewhat skeptical that even Hiro could hope to take on the entirety of Ordo Dracul's forces on his own, especially if it meant confronting that magus from before who seemed to have the ability to copy spells.

"The situation is more dire than it seems," Fumi's dry tone added in as she entered from the west access door that leads to the massive library Arcadia's Mansion is home to, "Walpurgis Night. It has many connotations and legends attached to it. For our purposes, it's seen as a time that is prime for occult activities and rituals. We had been preparing a report on it, because it seemed like one of the likely times the Order might make their move. However, since we had seen little activity out of the enemy for some time now it was written off. While we cannot reason out the particular, for their ritual to succeed they would need to have gathered all the users that contain the Power of Dominance. Now, our great Leader had turned a dead scenario live."

Posted Image

"In his stead," Yamato began with a tone of displeasure, "I'm ordering Fire Division to move out. We have their location: Dracula's Castle I suppose. Since it's come to this, you'll have two objectives. The primary objective is to secure Hiro Tsukasa and the Vampire Killer. The secondary, or once the primary has been achieved its replacement, is to eliminate all members present of the Ordo Dracul. I'll be sending Makoto to assist. The rest of us will coordinate and provide information from here." It was a harsh sentiment. Granted, Arcadia had been privy to such battles before. However, Hiro had always framed their actions as just stopping the enemy; if it came to killing then so be it. Yamato, on the other hand, was far more direct about the matter.

Posted Image

"Yes, Sir," Makoto acknowledged from the back of the room as she stretched slowly in preparation for the coming battle.

Posted Image

"Roger," a familiar AI's voice rang throughout the chamber, "I'll be registering this as a new Mission."

Mission: Ordo Dracul Showdown
Objective #1: Secure Hiro Tsukasa & the Vampire Killer.
Objective #2: Eliminate all Ordo Dracul members.

"Since this seems to be Arcadia's usual style to fly in last minute and handle things despite how incompetent it sounds," Fumi commented with her usual high and mighty air about things, "I'm sure you'll do fine. However, we have observed a few things about the combat area. The castle seems to be giving off temporal signatures. Its layout inside might vary drastically from how it appears outside. It's the same as our pocket dimension here. You might need or want to split up to cover more ground. You'll just have to use your judgement once you're on site."

"Then," Yamato concluded crossing his arms, "Unless there are any last minute questions, we'll get you a portal opened and be on our way. I know this isn't my intended role, but we're just going to have to make do. Regardless of faults, your track record speaks volumes on your ability for success against any odds. I expect all of you to return to us and won't settle for anything less." It seemed like he was complimenting Fire Division and even asking them not to die during the mission. However, even sentiments such as this came filtered through Yamato's rather unique way about things.

Flicking her eyes across the note on the screen, Lucy felt her lip curl into a frown slightly... It was rather irresponsible of Hiro to just decide to do things so cavalier, though at the same time, from all she had read of the man, it was entirely within his character to run off half-cocked.

Patience is a virtue that our gracious leader needs to understand... But at the same time, it produces results... So is it really a bad thing...?

Nodding politely to each of the other members who entered, well, except for Shad, given how the boy hadn't made a good impression on the time-and-dimensionally-displaced Witch, Lucy returned her attention to the briefing as it commenced.

Capture and recovery, then Search and Destroy? Hmmm... Seems straight-forward, but there's nothing about collateral damage... I should ask about that...

Raising her hand, the green-brown-haired girl asked the question running across her mind.

"Sir, I have a question; What is the limit for Collateral Damage? Of my weapons, one is a magic-based Tank Cannon, while the other is a magic-based counterpart of a Fifty-calibre Browning Machine gun. Neither are particularly suited to minimal-collateral situations..."

A fair point, given that the teen's two weapons were created from magic and took the form of the M3 Browning, a varient model of the "Ma Deuce" M2HB Browning, of the F86 Sabre, and the M3A1 90mm Cannon of the M48 Patton tank. While the rounds and shells were non-elemental magic, neither weapon was particularly "Subtle", though the Browning would be better in corridors as well as the open field because of the weight of fire.

"Poenari Castle, huh? I've been there once on a trip with my teacher, not exactly the best place to set up shop given it's on a cliff face hundreds of feet overlooking a big canyon, surrounded by miles of forest inhibited by huge wolves. Not to mention that long 1,480 staircase leading up to it. Lots of friendly gypsies though, listened to a lot of neat stories about the place." Shad grinned slightly that the techs finally were able to locate the Ordo Dracul HQ, even though that place was falling apart by old age, landslides and underround tremors. Still, 'I suppose' could very well mean Yamato wasn't sure at all. Hopefully the mental uplink communications will be still available in that other dimension.

"Actually, I have one.Although it's unlikely we're going to have to kill every member given the fact most of them are still human (*meaning Miss Lavender can cut off their air supply temporaily to knock them out and arrest them) , and have information on creating any further rituals on summoning Dracula, I have to ask if there is a plan or strategy to battle Death, given he is the main threat who could give us trouble since he's a wild card with no clear motive as to why he would assist this organization." He asked Fumi, hoping she would have a idea as to how to fight a literal shinigami as death can't be defeated. At the same time he sent a mental message for Excalibur to meet him by the teleporter, as he would need the holy sword for such a mission, as well as a mental request to Kaldia to see if she was interested in taking part in vampire slaying.

"Don't jump to conclusions here."

Damon spoke up, staying mostly silent up until now. "Unless you've been there in the last 20 days, much less the last 20 seconds, we've no idea how they've made their base. Temporal signatures...they could have anything if time's acting up. And if time's screwed up, space wouldn't be too surprising too. We're running in blind to a scenario where anything could happen. Literally anything."

"The same goes for our enemies. In case you've forgotten, most of us are human, too. They're as dangerous as we can be." Wait, did Damon just imply- "That's not to say we shouldn't keep them alive. I'm going in with restraint on the mind, but again, we only have so much knowledge on what they can do right now. For all I know, sunlight won't do anything when we get there." Okay, no. He was still his stupid pacifist self. He was just pointing out that nothing was simple here.

Tch...still, such a dangerous situation. Hiro was smarter than this, why was he rushing in alone? There had to be something more to this game.

"Regardless...orders understood. Will follow to the best of my ability."

The chances of him killing someone was slim to none. That was well known info. And he had proven in the past, he could take down one of the members of Ordo Dracul without deadly force. Would it work this time? He thought so...but like he said, this situation was dangerous.

...No matter what, though, they would be sure to have the sun rise tomorrow

This was perfect.

Sophia had been expecting that they would be confined to the sidelines while Hiro did his thing, but instead they were to actively hunt down the Ordo Dracul members. And not just hunt, exterminate. All of them. The Valkyrie could feel something within her stirring in excitement, something she more than welcomed. Finally those monsters will get what’s coming to them…

“Collateral damage be damned.” Sophia answered Lucy with a cold laugh. “We’re attacking a vampire stronghold, not some farming village. Even if there are any humans there they’re most likely enthralled by the Ordo Dracul. We would be doing them a favour by freeing them from their curse.” The Valkyrie’s crimson eyes flared brightly. There was no mistaking her stance on the matter: All of the Ordo Dracul needed to die, and any who would aid them would join them in that fate. “Shall we get going then? There’s no point in guessing what they have when we can just go in and see. Besides… They’re not going to kill themselves.”

It really unnerved him how only one person in this room was insistent on avoiding complete extermination.

The young man grunted, not really bothering to say anything though glancing warily at Lucy, Shad and Sophia, before his eyes lingered momentarily at Damon. ...Truth be told, he actually forgot what this big ritual is supposed to be for, but he only had to assume from the dark backside of his head that it's something that really warranted Yamato to issue the absolute order of total extermination of all the members of Ordo Dracul.

It really unnerved him.

"...Just one question," He said simply, raising his hand as he looked at Yamato. "Is there really no more compromise for the second objective?"

He kind of wish there is.

"They will get what is coming for them, but let us not be too hasty, considering how we're pretty much tackling them on their home ground without any intel," Lavender remarked; as the old saying went, "what you don't know can hurt you", and as far as an enemy like the Ordo Dracul was concerned, what they didn't know about this group can hurt them real bad! "But Sophia's got a point - it's not too much of a stretch to assume that everyone else we encounter in there would want us dead, and will most likely try their damned best to see that happen."

"I wish I could share your positivity, but I wouldn't bank on taking any of those Ordo Dracul guys alive... they don't look like the sort who'd allow themselves to lose - admittedly we don't know much about them but from what little we do know these guys would probably happily give up their lives in order to take ours," Selene interjected at Shad's proposal of being able to take the Ordo Dracul members alive. While this would be potentially the first time the corporate heiress would get involved on the front lines against them, the secondhand accounts she'd gathered from her fellow operatives suggested that the Ordo Dracul's dedication was nothing short of fanatical, as evidenced by how the witch barely gave up any useful information even as Yamato burned her alive.

"When in doubt, go by the standard rules of engagement - use a level of force that is proportionate to the threat posed - better them than us, it's all I have to say about that. If we go by the assumption that everything we meet there is an enemy, I'd say collateral damage isn't an issue, provided that we don't endanger ourselves or Tsukasa-san and the Vampire Killer," the aeromancer remarked, stating the team's rules of engagement. "So, that being said, shall we move out then?" Lavender asked as she activated her Arcadian field uniform, her woodland BDU being replaced with a fitted sleeveless black top with matching combat trousers and boots with a black longcoat with white accents going over the ensemble.

"As long as you all return and have completed the objectives I don't really care what condition their little castle is in," Yamato scoffed at the question as well as the rising of several voices discontent with his orders, "You should trust in what Lavender Smith has to say. While by rank, I may hold a higher position... I would be a fool to ignore the level of skill and direct experience she holds. I can't force anyone's actions, but just remember that your life is on the line here. And much more is riding on top of that. I'm sure our enemies won't be showing you any courtesies."

"Very well then," Fumi sighed as she pressed several buttons on a nearby console prompting one of Arcadia's magic portals to open already linked as close to their destination as was possible amid the spacial disturbances in the area. The swirling vortex would be dumping Fire Division into a literal battlefield. There was no way to know exactly what dangers awaiting them other than what info they had on the Ordo Dracul to this point. A band of fanatics devoted to the revival of their Master.

"Let's go," Makoto spoke with grim determination as she began to advance towards the portal. Without a doubt, Makoto was possibly the easiest to relate to of Yamato's companions. While she was clearly on her own level in skill, despite her position she seemed to act as just another of those within Fire Division. She was leading the charge not as part of some sense of rank, but out of duty alone.

There was mistrust flowing in the air. Anyone with just a bit of perception could pick up on it. It seemed that many within Arcadia could no longer see eye to eye so clearly. However, there were no open paths to go but forward. The clock had begun ticking and once more a supernatural crisis on a catastrophic scale needed to be stopped. This was the curse each Arcadian had to bare: throwing themselves into situations with impossible odds.

And what a horrible night it was to have a curse...
