“And just what do you think you’re doing?” A group of students, clearly of demonic descent, found the… not so intimidating figure of Sophia looming over them. They had been huddled together smoking some cigarettes behind the school building when the Valkyrie showed up, and were none too pleased about being interrupted. “Haa? Just catching some smokes, ain’t nothing wrong with that.” Sophia furled her eyebrows, clearly displeased. “Nothing wrong with it? You do realize it’s against the law, let alone school rules.” One of the demonfolk stood and walked over to Sophia, easily dwarfing her with his height. “Do I look like I give a damn? What are you going to do about it huh?” “As the student council vice president, I’m turning you all in for breaking the rules. Come quietly and there will be no trouble.” The other students rose to their feet and moved to back up their friend. “Just cause you’re the student council vice president don’t mean you get to act so high and mighty.” He moved to grab Sophia by the shoulder while his friends surrounded her. “What if w…UGH!!” He never got to finish his sentence as Sophia’s foot slammed into his gut. His friends howled in outrage and threw themselves at the Valkyrie, who moved like lightning and dispatched them with ease. These were mere punks against a trained warrior, and soon all but one lay on the ground groaning in pain. The last delinquent took one look at his fallen comrades and decided to run for it, but didn’t make it far before a pebble smacked him in the back of the knee, sending him sprawling into the dirt. Before he could get back on his feet and continue his escape Sophia had already placed a food on his back and kneeled down with a sneer. “Pathetic cowards, the lot of you.” She grabbed his head and twisted it sideways so he was looking dead into her eyes, the red one seemingly glowing ominously. “Your kind likes to talk big don’t you? Where’s that bravado now?” |

"I like to talk big when I can" a voice came from the corner of the school building, where Heleth mastema was standing, sitting on a wall. The demon girl was toying with an insanely long ponytail held together by various colored rings placed through it. She had her usual smirk stamped on her face "But I usually do so when I have the upper hand" The short girl hopped down and approached the valkyrie "Very well done Sophia!" she complimented her "A tad too violent, maybe but they didn't leave you much of a choice." She approached the moaning students with a somewhat cheery gait. "Your fault" she said to them "Smoking is not allowed. You'll all be reported!" Now, with both hands behind her, like an innocent child, Heleth's eyes briefly studied Sophia, and a clear look of surprise appeared on her face "Woah! What happened to your face!? What's with that red eye and that strand of white hair?" |

“Hmph, I’ve never heard of you complaining about excessive violence before Heleth Mastema.” Sophia pressed down with her feet once more causing the demonic boy to cry out before dragging him to his feet and roughly pushed him away. “Consider yourselves lucky. Now get out of here you scum, or do you want another lesson?” The delinquents didn’t need another warning, and soon Sophia was left alone with Heleth. The red-skinned girl still gave the Valkyrie a bad vibe, despite them being on the student council together. Maybe it was the adrenaline from the little scuffle, but with every glance at Heleth she grew increasingly irritated. “Just a side effect of some magic, what’s it to you?” Sophia practically glared at Heleth, almost challenging her to say more. “What about yourself? That hair of yours is extremely impractical, don’t you have a more constructive way to use your powers?” |

Heleth's smile disappeared briefly, as she registered the irritated tone of the girl directed on her. Just a side effect of some magic. The not-smiling Heleth took note of that, and the following comment about her hair as well. "My hair is extremely practical, especially when kept this long" she stated with a tone of vague superiority, as her ponytail began moving by itself above her right shoulder, slowly crawling like a snake around her arm, and dividing itself into three independant strands. "It's like having additional limbs" she observed, closing her eyes "Readily available for any purpose. Anyway..." Her hair grouped itself in a single strand again, returning an apparently inanimate ponytail behind her back. "...I'm all for an adequate retribution. And they really deserved it." Heleth's eyes opened to study the vice president a little, before putting out a friendly and somewhat comprehensive smile "I think you needed additional excuses to keep abusing them like you did, really!" Well, the two would be alone, if a certain individual wasn't present as well. Though, not immediately, so in that case, yes, the two could be said to be alone. As it were, not another soul was upon the ground. But, three floor up, on the edge of the rooftop that oversaw the backside of the school, dull brown-grey eyes looked past the tips of pages onto the that had occurred below. In between the pale fingers, the words The Prince was emblazoned, the title of an infamous mirror of princes by Niccolo Machiavelli. Unsurprisingly, this edition was translated, from its original language of Italian. A soft sound of paper echoed, as Shisi snapped the book shut. So, this was the governing body of the state of this school. Well, perhaps this narrative was using overtly formal jargon, but the essential ideas were more or less present. But that was how the archaic kyonshi saw it. He recognized one of them, but the green-haired one was a fresh face. Surprising, Shisi had not expected Sophia to be one of such a fiery nature. Though, then again, she had struck Izumi a number of times during their campaign in Tokyo. But this was different, abnormal. Pushing himself off the ground, the boy pulled slightly at the chain-linked fence. Something wasn't right. Shisi could feel it, almost subconsciously, an air of hostility emanating from below. A hot wing blowing. Hell, those guys didn't even deserved that. They had no chance against a seasoned fighter, trained especially to hunt their kind. Shisi's grip tightened upon the chain, causing it to rattle slightly. Something about this whole scenario was sending him on edge, a sensation that the numbed corpse rarely experienced. A prelude to conflict. "This one disagrees," a voice called from above. "One should not brandish one's ability so callously, Sophia." Shisi had finally spoke out, his voice going through the holes in the chain-link. If either of the girl's looked up, they would be able to spot him easily enough. "Was that really necessary?" he continued, referring to the beating a moment prior. "It would seem you two are student council. If so, your actions affect and portray not only yourselves but the entirety of the council, and the school." The undead might've seem like a preacher, but that was just in his nature. Though his tone neither outright supported or condemned Sophia's actions, his voice held an innate disapproval. In Shisi's eyes, Sophia had overstepped her authority as council member, and it was only right for him to call her out on it, as Heleth obviously wasn't going to. |

The voice from above surprised Sophia, though not as much as the… feeling its owner gave her. Looking up she recognized Shisi from their encounter in the Tokyo mess, but oddly enough she didn’t get the same feeling back then, probably because of all the chaos at the time. “And what would you have me do? Let them off with a warning?” The Valkyrie called out, speaking to both Heleth and Shisi. “Or perhaps I should have let them attack me? That will definitely teach them a lesson.” There was no mistaking the stern sarcasm in her voice, nor was it easy to miss the wrath practically emanating from her. “No, their kind only understands force, so I taught them using force. I don’t care if it’s excessive, the student council can’t afford to show weakness to those that break the rules, or to anyone for that matter.” That last bit was directed at Shisi, but also served as a reminder of sorts to Heleth. “Come what may, it is our duty to keep the students in line. If you have a problem with that..." Her eyes seemed to glow once more. "You’re welcome to take it up with me.” |

Heleth turned her head above. A student, one she didn't know declared his disagreement. About what? About her comment on abusing people who ask for it? Maybe it was a bit too veiled, but she just criticized Sophia's actions: from her point of view they did deserve a beating, as they tried to treaten Sophia after breaking the rules, but it began to go overboard when she hit the fleeing one with the rock. Her eyes also didn't miss her hitting and pushing the downed demon with no additional reason. You need to have valid reasons to justify to hurt someone, and there were none. Oh well, who cared if a random passerby didn't get what she meant? She cared. It was a matter of reputation, just like he underlined as well. "Thats exactly why I told her it wasn't nee..." Sophia's words covered hers as she replied to the man above as well. Albeit finding herself in partial agreement, Sophia's voice had a sarcastic tone that was impossible to not notice. When did she became so arrogant? Also, the valkyrie never really made a secret the fact that she didn't like demons, but that was the second insult to her kind in her presence. "Hey..." she muttered as the valkyrie kept speaking and suddenly changed voice as she threatened the student above. Changing voice!? Did she really heard another voice coming from Sophia's mouth? She tilted her head in surprise, her ponytail giving a single, barely visible jerk when she saw her eyes glow briefly. An alarm ringed in the red demon's head as she took a step back. "What do you think you're doing, threatening a student like that!?" she said, with a note of surprise impossible to hide. That was scary, undeniably scary, but her duty as a member of the student council forced her to say that. |

Well, though literate, Shisi was far from the most clever or quick-witted tool in the shack. Sarcasm and implicit meaning was, more or less, lost upon him. But, what wasn't lost, was the tone and language Sophia used; not just in her diction and words, but also in her expression and body. As the Valkyrie's voice changed in a threat, Shisi's eyes widened slightly in surprise. And then narrowing once again. The young man kept silent as even Heleth turned to parley with her fellow council member. Unlike what he had thought previously, it would seem that Sophia's behavior towards delinquents weren't typical of the council. And it definitively wasn't typical of the Valkyrie either. "Restraint is not weakness. Dominance is not strength." Letting go of the fence, Shisi said "This isn't about the student council, then." Bending down, the boy placed the book gingerly upon the floor, careful so as not to fold the pages. "It seems that it has nothing to do with the school either." Then, the undead began backtracking his steps, dropping out of view under the rim of the roof. It was quickly followed by fervid steps. The chains of the fence rattled, as a shadow crashed into it. Then, with dexterous strength, Shisi climbed over the mesh, before dropping down upon a thin ledge opposite. "This is something personal, it is." Taking a step into the air, the kyonshi dropped, landing nonchalantly beside Heleth with a soft thud. Reaching up, the pale man gripped his opposite shoulder with a hand, before using the tension to crack his neck audibly. "You're threatening me, yes?" Releasing his hand, Shisi turned, so that he was perpendicular to Sophia's visage. "If so, you forget your place," the undead remarked backhandedly. However, one of more composed comprehension would find that Shisi meant it not as an insult, but as a guiding warning. The kyonshi widened the distance between his legs, his left hand between his torso and Sophia's direction, whilst drawing in his right. "You forget who you are." |

“Threatening? Since when did defending one’s beliefs become threatening someone Heleth?” Sophia kept her eyes on Shisi as she addressed Heleth’s accusations. The red-skinned demon was really getting on her nerves, but since she backed off the Valkyrie would let it slide for now. Besides, the surprised tone with just a touch of fear was extremely satisfying for her. … Satisfying? Why would she be… No time to give it further thought seeing how Shisi leapt off the building and landed next to Heleth. At this distance the feeling she got earlier was unmistakable. “You’re not human, are you? No… I can sense it, you reek of death. Unless you just got back from killing someone you must be undead.” Seeing the undead boy taking up an unknown stance the Valkyrie readied herself for another fight. “And what do you know of me hmm? We only met once, so don’t pretend to know me you monstrosity. I wasn’t threatening you before, but I am now. If you want a fight you better be prepared to suffer the consequences.” |

Heleth took a deep breath, as she stepped between the two. This was escalating quickly! The situation was going out of control for reasons she was barely grasping. Clearly Sophia had something wrong. "Calm down, both of you!" she said, extending her arms toward both. Her ponytail did pretty much the same, separating into two and acting like two additional limbs. The rings around her hair slided inward as the strands separated themselves. Her armlets tingled together. Just why was Sophia looking for a battle with that student? Ok, the simple answer was easy: she was a valkyrie and that boy apparently was an undead of some sort. The swearing racist known as Kell flashed in her head for an instant as she moved between the two. Heleth knew Sophia was something of an 'old school' valkyrie. They did share a lot of time through the Netherworld recently, so she had lots of occasions to understand she had the 'Demon ~ Undead ~ Bad' approximation printed somewhere in her head. Apparently she was in the mood to consider the approximation an equal that day. "Stop threatening him! Vice president, what do you want to achieve? Your expulsion from the student council?" She turned her head toward the undead. "You too! Don't do anything rash, or I'll report you too as well! Show some tolerance to taunts!" Edited by Sota, Mar 23 2014, 05:49 PM.

The boy narrowed his eyes, as the Valkyrie deduced his disposition. "This one assures you he is human," Shisi remarked dryly. Sophia would find no source of sadistic pleasure in his measured reply. Though, despite his mild reply, a perceptive individual would see that Sophia's remark struck an odd chord within the kyonshi. "No more than you are. But also no less." That would be all the boy would speak on that matter. It was hard to tell if the undead boy was angry or not; whether his words were laced with insults and hostility, or just roundabout and philosophical. Though, regardless, Shisi didn't relinquish his stance. "This one has no intention of fighting," Shisi replied to Heleth, despite seemingly having every intention to do so. If that was supposed to be his attempt at a lie, the kyonshi could safely be considered an idiot. Or just an horrid liar. But, Shisi wasn't lying. No, the word "fight" had different implications to him. "This one only seeks to understand," he spoke softly. "However, the deepest form understanding only come from conflict. It is only then, can one see how wrong one is." It might be hard for the green-haired council member to grasp the meaning behind Shisi's philosophy and words, but it could, more or less, be summed as... "Sadly, some only understand through force." The undead had twisted Sophia's words against her. Breifly, Shisi interrupted hi stance, before bowing slightly towards the waste. However, the action would seem patronizing instead of courteous. "If you wish to spar," Shisi spoke, beckoning with his left hand, before returning to his prior stance. "Feel free to come." Depending on how familiar Sophia was with Chinese martial arts, she would be able to tell that Shisi's stance was a alleviated and off-centered six-four. However, she didn't need to be familiar with martial arts to see that the stance, with its higher orientation and slightly backed center of gravity, was defensive in nature. Additionally, Shisi's hands were also open, with fingers outstretched. "If not, apologize. Not to the one before you, or those demons you punished. But to the badge, designation and name you bear, both this school's and your own. Apologize to your friend here. For your actions had dishonored them all." Though the undead's own reasons for doing this was rather cryptic, it was obvious that things couldn't just turn around now. The undead has just posed an ultimatum to the Valkyrie. There needed to be a resolution to this lit tinder of conflict. Though it was possible to end this without conflict, doing so would require Sophia to admit her fault. |

Sophia gave no resistance to Heleth’s move to step between them, but nor did she really acknowledge the demonkin or her hair. The Valkyrie’s quarrel was with Shisi, and his denial of his nature didn’t do anything to dissuade her. Normally someone who looks human enough would be able to hide their demonic or undead nature from Sophia, but somehow she was now strangely attuned to them. “The deepest form understanding only come from conflict you say?” She echoed his words, almost mockingly, but at the same time a strange coolness had entered her voice. “Or perhaps you should say ‘You do not truly know someone until you fight them’. Long has it been since I heard this saying. It’s Chinese, is it not? It would seem they haven’t changed their ways after all these years.” She closed her eyes for a moment, and when she reopened them both of them were as red as the setting sun. “I do value honour though, and so I will admit I’ve erred. But before that… there is one thing I would like to test. If you really are human this will not be an issue.” Without waiting for a response Sophia raised a glowing hand at Shisi. “Lux Curationum!” A pillar of white light would engulf Shisi. Heleth would recognize it as the same healing spell Sophia had used to heal her wounded leg when they went to the Netherworld, and indeed it was a healing spell. Healing to those that are alive that is. Against an undead however… that may not be the case. |

'Understanding only comes from conflict?' What a stupid excuse to cause troubles! And a perfect choice of words to provoke someone too! Just like he legitimated their imminent scuffle! Stupid moron! He then followed with a veiled insult, a statement that pretty much invited Sophia to attack, and a demand for excuses. Heleth's eyes moved on Sophia, as she began to answer. It obiously wasn't a good sign to see that now both of her eyes were red. Yet...they looked like the very same eyes she gained when she called on her full powered valkyrie form. Then, in a gesture that had Heleth's mouth open in surprise, the girl decided to test an healing spell on the boy she declared an undead. The red demon girl didn't really know if the boy really was an undead, but a similar action was worth of a Mazikin. If he really was an undead, she fundamentally attacked him. All she could do was turn and watch. |

"Quite," Shisi nodded, as Sophia reiterated him. "Japanese isn't my mother tongue, yes?" Now that it was brought up, the kyonshi did have a curious pattern of speech. In fact,if it wasn't for his dull eyes and flat tone, it would've seemed comedic instead of foreboding. Upon the remark of the Chinese being conservative, Shisi replied "It isn't. This one is just old-fashioned." Once Sophia admitted her fault, whether it was sincere or not, the undead released his composure. Slowly, he brought his arms down, shuffling his feet back to together. The pants of his uniform were now dusted, and scratch marks adorned his shoes, but Shisi didn't seem to be one that particularly cared for his appearance. "At least you still see reason," Shisi "complimented". However, unlike some other sarcastic snarkers, the notion of sarcasm is foreign to the undead. His statement was meant to be sincere, despite everything suggesting otherwise. Sophia had admitted her fault, and no senseless violence would need to come forth. As it was pointless to teach one who refuses to be taught, it is also pointless to beat one that has been beaten. Metaphorically, of course. After all, Shisi had no wish to Sophia, but merely for her to accept there was error in her actions. However, in thinking that the ordeal was over, the kyonshi left down his guard. "What? You-!" A bright light engulfed him, swallowing up his vision. And as quickly as it came, the light left, leaving a standing undead behind. For a few moments, it would seem that nothing had happened. Nothing had changed. Aside from looking like a dear in the midst of headlights, Shisi hadn't moved a single muscle or uttered a sound. Then, without warning, the kyonshi fell forward, falling to his knee. The force caused Shisi's head to snap forward, facing the ground. The boy's cheeks bulged unnaturally. Realizing what was happening, he reflexively cupped a hand over his mouth. But it was no use. Driblets of dark, murky liquid cascaded forth, spilling over the boy's hand and onto the ground. A pool of black liquid, as dark as calligraphic ink, began to form about his knees. "Cheap! Tricks!" Shisi was able to shout through the spasm that wrought him. Lacking the human need to breath, the kyonshi was in no danger of choking and therefore could not reflexively gag. But, whatever, that Valkyrie had done, it would be obvious to all that Shisi's body wasn't taking it well. A moment later, as the splurge began to die down, he brought up a hand, wiping the last remnants of black ink from corners of his mouth. He stared at the black streak distastefully, before flinging what he could onto the ground. His white shirt was now similarly streaked with the unknown filling. "What... had you hoped to accomplish with that?!" Shisi asked, an edge now within his voice. Clumsily, the kyonshi returned to his feat, slightly misshapen and disoriented. But, despite the state the undead was in, he was still able to stand. And he had enough will to meet eyes with Sophia, despite his condition. A moment past, as the undead silently regarded the holy woman. "Are you satisfied now? Does this look right to you?" It seemed that they were still at an impasse. |

Shisi’s reaction to Sophia’s spell was more than she expected, and more than enough to make her point. “That was a healing spell, one beneficial to all but the foulest creatures.” She lowered her hand and sneered at him. “ Don’t try to hide what you are undead scum. There is nothing right about what you are; you are an insult to life itself. By all rights I should purify you right now and free whatever’s left of your soul. I won't deny that it'd give me a certain satisfaction too.” The Valkyrie stood there, watching him, for a moment as if she was actually considering it. Her hand twitched slightly and it looked as if she was going to attack again, but stopped herself and turned away. “But you’re still a student here and it would technically be murder, even if you’re already dead. Besides, I’ve already made my point. Leave, now. Of course…” She tilted her head just enough to look back with one eye. “You’re welcome to try your luck.” |
