The Middleman (stubborn, yet relaxed)
"Con...confess your sins? REALLY?" Shad suddenly yelled after standing completely still and silent for several minutes, the shock of seeing those weird-looking robes brought him back several years just recalling who these strangers may be. "It is you who should confess your sins, you filthy, murderous mage killers! On your clothing and hands is the blood of countless innocent people with just a twinge of magic that you butchered simply to 'purify' the human race! So many of my neighbors you beheaded in the name of God, to bleed them dry and ravage their corpses as they screamed for mercy. I don't know how you got this far, Inquisition Slayers, but your punishment...." He tossed his hands toward suddenly, as if attempting to throw something fast that may not be there, "is NIGH!"

"Target: 2 Tungsten Cubes. Enlargement. Original size:.25" W, .25" H, .25" L. Change to 20' W, 20' H, 20' L." He whispered under his breath as he unleashed two powerful beams of size-altering chaos magic (OOC: as chaos grows and shrinks randomly, at least to Shad's knowledge) in the air, 'engulfing' the tiny metal specks that were just above the font, immediately causing them to grow rapidly in size and weight to slam down hard and fast upon it with destruction force, and possibly crush anyone below the font like grapes, as the cubes were lined up on each other to increase the shockwave impact and destructive force as a result.

For better or for worse, Abe's taunting actually worked pretty well. "Wh- STOP CALLING IT A GAME!!" A bit too well actually, because she actually did turn to aim the bullet hell at the Skytree instead, having momentarily forgotten about Godzilla. She stopped herself before getting to fire a full volley at them however, remembering the rule she was supposed to abide with and cursing it under her breath.

It was then that she noticed, in her moment of idleness Godzilla didn't at all take the chance to take a swipe at her. Instead it was taking a swipe at something... someone else instead WHY THE HELL ARE THEY CLIMBING THAT THING?! "Oh you accursed children...!" Who in their right minds thought that climbing up a freaking skyscraper-sized atomic dinosaur a good idea?! The ancient spirit cursed inwardly yet again, leaving behind the giant ethereal fan to continue its assault as she let herself be engulfed in another wave of butterflies, before completely disappearing-

-and reappearing right before Shirena, grabbing him by the collar (somehow) and tugging him off the monster's body with a surprising amount of strength and quickly flew back towards safety. "Are you stupid or something?! Don't act like this is a game, you could have died!"

...Kind of ironic in hindsight, seeing as she's already dead and all...

~

Even with his rare burst of fury and Sophia's assistance, his body would continue to disappoint him, the Ordinary Magician feeling far too weak and defeated to even rise up to his feet. "Keh... s-shut up..." Even with Shisi making him so. For a good and perhaps a bit of a touching reason, as he was then handed the mini-Hakkero.

...He didn't have the heart or even the motivation to explain the mechanic of this little magical contraption. As much power as this tiny device could hold, there's little to no chance that it would have enough charge left to even make some flimsy sparks after the earlier light show... Even then, what could it really do against a monstrous atomic lizard if it can't even hurt a man in a power armor...?

At the corner of his eyes, something happened that made his heart skip a beat.

"NO- SOPHIE!!" Even as he yelled out in alarm he would have been too far away and too slow to prevent it, Abe had unceremoniously, literally kicked the Valkyrie off the building. In complete disregard of his own safety and health, completely forgetting everything else happening around him, the Ordinary Magician sprung to his feet and rushed forth to the edge of the building, gritting his teeth through the pain as he forced his body to even move, and leaped off after her.

What in the name of hell is he doing... He thought to himself as he caught up to the girl, quick to snatch her in his arms... yet still plummeting down to the ground. He just threw his own life away... for another that he can't even save. He really hates this feeling of weakness... the cold mad wind rushing past him like a tunnel with his fate waiting at the end and he couldn't even control it...

He needs power...

If only he has the power...!

From up above something else was rocketing down towards him- an old-looking besom broom with a charred bristle end and a somewhat rickety handle came down to meet its owner as fast as its magical wooden body could get! Upon getting close and the Ordinary Magician taking notice of it, he immediately reached out and snatched the broom from the air, thereby taking control of it, pulled the broom towards him and clambered onto it before swerving out of the fall into a graceful loop in the air like he would always do!

Of course, he paused a bit to catch his breath, it was a pretty tense moment there. As well as making sure the Valkyrie was actually safe. "...Uhm, hey..." He said, with a somewhat awkward grin and momentarily oblivious to the flailing Godzilla behind him. "Not too shabby for a lame magician eh...?"

Sophia didn’t expect to be pushed off the building like that, but was actually in no real danger seeing how her wings were still active. What she wasn’t expecting, however, was for Izumi to dive after her. The girl twisted around and held her arms out, ready to catch the Ordinary Magician, but instead in a sudden flash of movement she found herself in Izumi’s arms. “I…Izumi… T…thanks…” The sudden closeness to the young man made her blush a deep red, even momentarily forgetting that she had wings. Fortunately he hadn’t grabbed her by the wings or things would have ended up quite differently.

A mighty roar from Godzilla put an end to their little moment and Sophia pushed herself away from Izumi to start flying on her own. “I don’t think we can stop that thing, but maybe we can pacify it somehow.” She pulled Izumi away while backing up herself, putting some distance between them and the monster. “He’s not part of something Abe conjured, so something must be drawing its attention… maybe Abe himself seeing how Godzilla is going straight for him.” Her eyes flared dangerously as she looked up towards the window she had fallen from. “I’m going to beat some sense into that man, he owes me one for pushing me off like that.”

The Valkyrie shot up past the broken window, appearing as a blur of motion for a split second to the people within, and stopped when she was about three more floors up. Once there she found Abe, still near the window, and dived straight at him with spear pointed at his chest!

------------------------At the gathering of worshippers…------------------------

It really was surprising that Eva missed the baptismal font the first time around, but now it stood before her, clear as day. She had no desires to speak of, so the unknown device lay bare to her mechanical eyes. It looked like she could interface with it using the various plugs, but if it was something that could generate illusions on this scale there was no telling what kind of effects it could have on the gynoid. It wasn’t a risk she was willing to take, so Eva chose the next best course of action.

Before she could start shooting at the device however, someone else had acted first. At first it seemed that he was throwing some pieces of metal at the font, but then Eva detected some sort of energy build up coming from the young man who had thrown it. Her knowledge of the supernatural was limited, but she managed to hear him mention the dimensions and immediately shot the metal specks out of the way of Shad's beams with her pistol. "Unnecessary civilian casualties are unacceptable." Bit odd coming from her, considering how she wounded several civilians in her experiment earlier, but her cold stare at Shad showed that she was completely serious.

“There is no time for negotiations Misora, we cannot allow this chaos to spread any further. Step away from the device. Now.” As if to emphasize her point, the gynoid raised her assault rifle and pointed it at the device. She didn’t give the worshippers any time to stop her before emptying a whole clip into it, hopefully by now they had run off when she opened fire the first time around. It probably was a little excessive, but they couldn’t be too careful with it. Let’s just hope the surrounding priests won’t react too badly to her actions. Though frankly Eva couldn’t care less if they did, she had a job to do.

Turning misery into meaningfulness!
Shirena spent the next estimate of 6 seconds holding on for dear life. At the first swing of his body, the cable was long gone, and he realized he wasn't going to be on this giant lizard for much longer...though not for the reason he had expected. A person, he didn't know her name, appeared behind him, and pulled him off the beast, with a tone of annoyance and worry. Needless to say, he panicked for all of 1 second, before being flown to safety, struggling fruitlessly the whole was down.

Shirena growled at her. Game? What made it look like he thought this was a game? "I'm trying to take that beast down!" He said, with a sigh. "This isn't a game, lives are at stack, damn it!" He said to the seemingly ethereal being. "Either way....thanks, I guess." He said reluctantly. "Probably wouldn't have been able to hold on much longer..." He said, looking away, in a very tsundere-esque fashion.

ZEHAHAHA!!
Kell didn't even have any words for Abe. Goddamn, he seriously wanted to earn himself a death sentence, huh? She just turned and shouted out the window, clearly pissed at this turn of events.

"Saigyouji, you crazy bitch! You win this time!" It was pretty clear why the ghostly noble had let them see the proceedings. Fucking played them like a fiddle, she did. But there wasn't much of a choice here. Abe had to go first. But how could Kell pull it off? One on one, she was bound to get a trouncing from somebody as armoured as him.

Well, shit. Looks like she had to work with the others, after all. With a sour look, she crouched down low. When the time came to strike, she'd go and f-

And then Sophia rose up, stabbing at Abe like an avenging angel. Well, good deal there. It wasn't going to be some hopelessly dumb fight after all.

That didn't mean she was going to get in close, though. Right now, a two on one would not stop the man from punting her out the window. And unlike Sophia, there wasn't some guy to break her fall.

"Kell, don't chuck him off! That's just unnecessary and cruel!" Cariot clung onto her friend's back, but Kell paid no heed. Abe was going to cause some global shift that'd make this look like a sunday picnic. No way she was going to show mercy to him. The pink blob had a different opinion of this situation, though.

Even though her friend wasn't going to leap in, she would. Floating over like a lazy bullet, Cariot waited until she was right in front of Abe's face before she manifested.

"Sorry, but I have to do this!" The pink blob apologized profusely as she blocked his line of sight.

----

"Heeeeeeelp"

Too bad Saigyouji didn't see John, who was on the opposite side of Godzilla. He still held on to its leg for dear life.

“Besides kicking people out of windows I am still interested in what this game is” He, the first one here, stepped out from his pillar to reveal himself to Abe. He was still playing ignorant, while in actuality he was on alert, dozens of eyes, hidden in the shadows, watched the scene unfold from several angles. From three different views he say the ancient spirit unleash her burst against his current position. His view allowed him to keep himself and his haemonculi out of danger. He sidestepped a neon colored energy bullet without ever having looked at it himself.

Six eyes saw Shisi jump out the window. He considered someone to help, she was an ally in Metro after all, but by the time his mind had decided ‘maybe’ he was already several stories down.

Ten eyes watched Kell’s body shiver with rage. He stood a bit behind her himself but the focus of her rage seemed to have denied him of any recognition. Cariot, to this point unknown by Lenny, popped out of thin air, hoping to provide defense to Kell.

Lenny, surrounded by all this activity, a monster to his back and a king to his front, stood where he was. Should he help Kell? He wasn’t sure. Should he turn cloak and help the scientist? Still not sure. He had a great number of mutated beasts armed with fangs, venom, and malice. And yet, he waited, he observed. He was a patient hunter, a competent one, but he still didn’t know who his quarry was.

"Wait, was that..." Lavender SWORE she'd recognize that voice and those words. "Shad, NO!" the aeromancer shouted as the realized just what the size mage was planning on doing. Smashing the device was one thing; but getting innocent civilians caught in the crossfire was another! The aeromancer was getting ready to summon up a massive pulse of compressed air to blow everyone out of the way of a pair of falling 4000+ ton cubes when the gynoid acted first, knocking the two tiny blocks of tungsten away with a pair of well-placed gun shots before they could crush their targets underneath.

"I don't think they're going to like this..." Misora tried to protest as Eva raised her assault rifle, but didn't need any further prompting beyond the sight of a raised weapon to scurry out of the way and find her way back to Lavender's side, only to find that the survival studies teacher wasn't too pleased with the turn of events.

"Are you out of your goddamn mind Shad!? There could be actual human beings over there!" Lavender exclaimed, visibly appalled at the size mage's lack of anything resembling rules of engagement, not to mention a callous disregard for human casualties. Lost in the heat of her emotions, the aeromancer responded to Shad's actions by delivering a backhand across the size mage's face, hitting Shad so hard (should the blow connect) that he would feel that he kissed a freight train. "If we were military, I'd have you court-martialed," she huffed, her fury spent.

"Alright, now if they start coming at us then you may fire at will," Lavender continued, powers and weapons ready in case the robed cultists and armored angels would respond to the destruction of their "holy icon" with violent reprisals, though where possible, the aeromancer would seek to use nonlethal means to subdue her attackers, rather than lethal force, though all of that would be heavily dependent on the assessed threat, whereupon she would determine the proper level of proportionate response.

"You really don't know? Geez..." Abilio turned, somewhat amused and surprised as Lenny revealed his lack of awareness of the game being played out here.
"Contest to decide the fate of the world. Important stuff, really, me and three others competing to win the favour of some being in order to make it all happen. Would've thought people might want to get the word out..." With a seeming glint in an eye hidden by the faceplate of the helmet, Abilio turned back again, just in time to greet the coming Sophia as she thrust forward with her spear.

"Or did you think I wasn't serious?!" Abe grabbed the spear himself, and with the enhanced strength provided by the armoured suit he wore, attempted to toss both it and Sophia aside towards the wall behind him. There was a momentary pause as he turned, finding some circuitry around the chest to be exposed now, before he gazed at the weapon that the valkyrie had wielded.
"...Whatever that thing is, its sharp... I'll just have to- bwah!" The effort to sound serious was all rather undermined, when a sudden pink blob of a girl appeared in front of his face without much good reason.

"Out of the way!" And after only a few moment's hesitation, he tried to grab at her and toss the girl aside as well, that strength quite likely to come in handy...

"W-What the hell was he talking about?! Who ARE you people?!" The various worshipers rather hastily hit the deck, or otherwise ran like hell after Shad had yelled at them, before suddenly there was energy beams and gun shots. The angels moved to 'defend', as it were, but as they move to strike down the others, they quickly proved as immaterial as one would suspect. And then the matter was merely reinforced as they began to spark and fizzle, their images fading away entirely. The clothes on the back of the worshipers similarly left visible reality shortly after, revealing them as nothing more than typical people who, thanks to whatever the 'font' had been doing, got to play at something different.

...Though, hardly a baptismal font, as that image faded too. The background scenery wasn't quite gone yet, and there seemed to be some sparks of life in it still, but the strange device that Abe had placed was revealed for all to see. It sparked and crackled, but still retained some functions - evidently just shooting it in relatively close spots hadn't been enough to entirely bring it offline.

Look at his little dance
This was his chance! Spike charged along the top of the great beast's shoulder and leapt into his decisive attack. hyak-too! He spit in the beast's face, though that almost surely went unnoticed. His pride couldn't let him not take the opportunity to spit in Godzilla's face. Of course that wasn't his decisive attack. Spike lashed out with the full force of his fist and aimed a strike dead at Godzilla's eye.

It was almost a shame what happened next. Spike took a tumble. This really was the obvious result of everything going on around him. He was on top of a rampaging monster. He had intended to grab on after throwing his punch but that sort of thing needed more luck than he had left today. And so he fell. As Spike fell he thought, a truly rare occurrence.

It was a shame he had no idea what was really going on here. It had slipped his mind entirely why he had been launching this attack, but as he fell he remembered. His target hadn't been this. He'd been aiming for the cause of the strange barrier. This was a freakish situation where this guy was a distraction from his target. Spike gritted his teeth, still in free fall.

"Hmmm-yipe!?!" Shad turtle-shelled his head ducking inward his robes the second he noticed the backhand flying towards him, allowing the strike to avoid hitting his face but at the same time smashing his rather huge pointed hat off of his head and sending it flying. "My-MY HAT!!!! The sunlight, it burns! Well, not literally, but it's so bright!" He cursed, bringing his head back up and feeling his now-exposed head that felt slightly warm to the touch. No doubt the hat was super-important to him, but then he noticed the one who sent it flying.

"Oh, hello, Miss Lavender. No, I am not out of my mind, though I wonder if you had lost yours by attempting to kill me given my neck is fragile. Are you referring to them?" Shad pointed at the robed figures who began to glitch out, and turned into regular civilians. "Weird...I was under the impression they were mage hunting mercenaries that were a threat to all of Hyakuji. After all, there is a rule that my kind follows that says that if a Inquisition Assassin with multiple angels appears, it is best to defeat them quickly before they attack and destroy your soul. It's sort of a thing the Magic Council set up around 700 years ago and hasn't changed since then, as disobeying the rule means getting thrown into a black hole. Now I feel kind of stupid attacking normal people that were cloaked as my worst enemy." He explained calmly to Lavender, knowing that she probably didn't care and would try to beat up on him even more.

"Now then, I suggest all of you leave immediately so I can target this font thing directly." He said to the regular humans who hit the deck and didn't run away, fishing out a new tungsten cube and prepared to toss it underhand for it to precisely land on the font. "Seeing that bullets seemed to change them back to normal, one cube at maximum weight should cause whatever weird illusions it is casting to dispel. Unless of course, you have something just as strong to completely destroy it, Miss Lavender."

"To think we came this close to killing innocent civilians..." Misora remarked as the illusion appeared to falter as Eva damaged the device, causing the group to see the cultists as who they truly are - while the attacking angels merely vanished into thin air, merely a product of the civilians' imagination, made "real" by what seemed to be some sort of hi-tech virtual reality projector, or as a Trekkie might put it, a holodeck.

"No thanks to him," Lavender interjected under her breath as Shad insisted that he was completely sane, whilst questioning the aeromancer's own sanity due to what he perceived as a "murder attempt". "Save your ammo for later, Shad. I'll be putting this thing out of commission," Lavender remarked as the winds picked up intensity around her - and with a dull boom the aeromancer darted towards the 'font' in speed blur and a wake trail of faint lavender wisps, and if one could see the world in slow motion the aeromancer cocked back her right fist, a miniature cyclone of compressed air surrounding her hand before explosively releasing it upon delivering a right straight to the device, creating a concussive blast akin to that of an explosive breaching charge, another far louder explosion resounding in the wake of the earlier dull boom.

"Going down!" Lavender declared as she smashed the device with her signature cyclone punch, creating a focused explosion at the point of impact aimed to destroy or at least completely disable the device in a single blow.

"Then you had better stop calling it 'awesome'!" The ancient spirit gave one last bark of irritation at Shirena, completely disregarding his show of gratitude before tossing him onto a nearby rooftop just to get him out of the way, before reverting her attention back to the Godzilla. It was actually a bit annoying despite her earlier confidence. He is actually quite proud of how much firepower she is capable of dishing out, perhaps even more so than anyone else here combined if she were to say it. But it was apparent that even that is clearly not enough to take down a skyscraper sized monster.

Curses, that throws direct combat against it completely out of the window.

What the hell are they supposed to do against that thing, anyone has any idea...?

...God damn, nevermind that now, how many of them are actually going to be so stupidly suicidal?! Especially one of them literally just tried to punch the monster right in its eye! It was arguable that it's a good thing he's not clinging onto the beast anymore, but now he's actually free falling which is also not a good thing. "Curses...!" Instead of personally rescuing the spiky haired young man she settled with materializing a particularly large ethereal butterfly right underneath Spike to break his fall. He can also ride it around if he wanted to, even though she probably didn't intend for it to be used that way.

In the meantime, accompanying Spike's punch would be a flying broom powered kick to the Godzilla's eye by the Ordinary Magician Kirisame Izumi himself! Though despite the foolhardy action he's not as crass as to spit in its face and instead withdrew back to safe distance as quickly as possible. "We need to get him away from this place first, is that possible?!" He yelled out to those still around while trying to stay away from anything the skyscraper sized monster would do in retaliation.

Sophia cursed as Abe tossed her aside, though was able to barely keep herself from slamming into the wall by flapping her wings to counter the momentum. “I know you’re serious in keeping to your own selfish desires, no matter the cost to anyone else!” That armour of his proved to be troublesome, and so did the strength it gave him.

Fortunately unexpected help came in the form of a… pink blob? She didn’t question it though, and pushed off the wall to take another stab at Abe using the pink blob to mask her charge. Her earlier attack had caused some damage to his armour, so if she can land a proper hit here… As Abe threw the blob girl aside he would find her face replaced by the visage of a snarling Valkyrie, a mere few metres away and closing rapidly!

---------------------Eva and her group---------------------

Eva had no idea what Shad was talking about, and frankly didn’t care enough to understand either. What she did care about was that he was going to crush the font with his tungsten cube at maximum weight… meaning he was going to expand it as much as he can. Depending on just how much that is, the collateral damage could be immense. She was about to speak up against his decision, but Lavender beat her to the punch… literally.

The gynoid watched as the aeromancer pulled back her fist in preparation to strike the device. Normally this wasn’t anything impressive, but once again the build-up of energy signalled that this was something much more dangerous and Eva stepped back while shouting to the civilians. “Back away from the font if you value your safety.” … Okay maybe not exactly shouting, but hopefully they’ll get the message. She did hope that Lavender’s attack will be enough though, should it prove necessary she would follow it up with a grenade or two, or even a few superhuman punches of her own.

Shisi watched as Izumi then busted out the window, diving after the Valkyrie Abilio had unceremoniously booted. However, the undead showed no sign of worry, or any intention to follow. After all, they could both fly...

Returning back to his feet, Shisi crossed his arms, tucking the blade between them as the newcomer and the resurfaced Sophia both engaged the powered man. And that was all. Shisi had no intention of participating, especially considering the odds. Sophia had already inflicted damage to Abilio's suit, though she was tossed effortlessly afterwards. But still, Shisi made no sign to move, merely observing from the sidelines. Maybe Lenny & Co should do something.

Though, if one paid attention, they would discover a small yellow slip of paper about the boy's wrist.
"Great! Another fanatic!" Xie sputtered, as he pushed himself off the floor. Like any other sane individual, the Alchemist had immediately made himself unavailable as two giant cubes and a stream of bullets soared into the crowd. It was a wonder that the only casualty was the keyboard upon the former font. However, despite being riddled with bullets, the altar still seemed functional.

"Fucking idiots!" Xie spat to himself, obviously referring to the gentleman who had found it a great idea to drop giant pillars into a crowd of people. Or more importantly, onto him. And that buffoon actually expected his long winded reasoning to excuse him from almost crushing him!

"No! You're not pulling off another stunt like that!" Xie added his own voice to the barrage of protests. And it was then that Lavender decided to blow the font with her own super powered fists. Xie threw his hands up into the air in resignation.

"Fuck it." This scenario was getting to be much more troublesome than what he had first thought; the very students from the school was proving to be much more of a hassle than the assembled "zealots". Maybe he should go investigate the strewn about citizens, checking for any injuries or fatalities... Wait a minute, he wasn't that type of guy. Screw it. Crossing his arms, Xie watched as Lavender went to punch the machine. Honestly, if the thing could survive this, it would truly be a spectacle.

"Set."

Kell started running forward as soon as Cariot got her rubbery body tossed. The pink blob hit the floor, unable to hold her grip against the superior mechanically enhanced strength that Abe possessed. It couldn't hurt her, but she did skid facefirst across the concrete towards the running luchadora.

"Uwawawa~ Do it, Kell!"

Cariot looked up, then folded backwards as her friend jumped on her. Making a sound much like that of a squeaky toy being stepped on, the pink blob was used as a trampoline to launch Kell at Abe. With her sticky wooden hand outstretched, the luchadora flew above the King. As she approached, she reached out to try and grasp the top of his helmet. If she managed it, she'd try and open a lotus flower to try and tear his head apart.

If she messed up... Well, at least Sophie's spear would only demolish her wooden hand. That and she'd slam facefirst into a concrete wall. She hadn't thought that far, apparently.
