Erm... okay, that is actually a pretty dark sounding story there, is it really for real? I mean, sure, he's the one with the historical knowledge of what's happened back then in 1916, and he's the one who was really wary of retelling what happened back then to Alexia. Even then however, it's actually still a bit hard for him to really accept that there's someone who bore witness to what had happened back then. I mean, it's only just today did he met Alexia after all. Who's to say she couldn't be though? "Then you probably should already have an idea on what happened to them," Izumi's heart skipped a beat at Seth's words, seeing as he had completely forgotten about his presence while Alexia was busy retelling her story. "It's pretty obvious after all. Normal humans aren't supposed to live past sixty to eighty years, let alone four hundred years," Everyone knows that, you don't have to point it out so matter-of-factly like it's none of your business! "While there is possibly no way at all for anyone to find out about the missing truth of the past..." ...No way, he's really going to say it? Doesn't he care about what it's going to do to her?! "...It should be safe to assume that they were all-" SMACK!!! ... The young man blinked in surprise, staring blankly at the Ordinary Magician next to him holding the besom broom in his hand like a bat. "You hit me," From the bland tone apparently he wasn't so much surprised or even angry as much as he was just stating a fact. That simple statement however, was enough to rile the Ordinary Magician even more than he already is, "Oh why don't you just shut up you apathetic bastard!!!" getting uncharacteristically angry and raising his voice, at Seth of all people. Even as the young man opened his mouth as though he was going to say something, Izumi had already cut him off. "No, I don't wanna hear another word from you!" It was very unlike the Ordinary Magician to stand up to someone, to the point of being the first one to resort to physical force. "You keep acting all tough and mighty, but you really don't give a damn about other people's feelings! What do you know about her situation, I bet it's all fine for you since you've never lost anyone important in your life before, haven't you?!" His words were getting increasingly harsh, letting his anger get the better of him and spewing out mockery faster than his mind would usually be able to take them back. Knowing his usual inclination towards peace and being passive in general, what could have driven him to be so protective towards Alexia? "Why don't you tell me what it's like to suddenly find out everyone you've known and loved were brutally murdered just because of some stupid discrimination?!" ...Ah... Seth only stared at the horrified look on Izumi's face with a shrug. "You're too easy to bait," He said simply, before turning around and walking away from the trio. "You there, Rakanoth was it? Be his witness, I assume you were there too four hundred years ago," |

“Don’t take me lightly boy.” Rakanoth hissed at Seth, curling a fist at the young man. “Even if you’re Sophia’s friend you clearly the manipulative sort! I won’t let you corr…” “Silence Rakanoth!” A powerful aura burst from Alexia, causing Rakanoth to pull back. “H…He’s right. I should have known this whole time, I knew they were all dead…” The aura receded and the winged girl collapsed onto her knees, feeling the full weight of reality crashing down on her. Sophia walked up between Seth and Izumi to prevent any further incident between the young men. It was really rare to see the Ordinary Mage explode like this, but Seth did cross the line… Seriously, baiting Izumi to reveal the hard truth so he wouldn’t have to do it himself? “Seth… that was…” “Sophia, Seth, Izumi.” The Valkyrie turned to see the woman in Alexia’s wing pointing at them with a hand that seemed to have turned into a deadly icicle. In the meantime Rakanoth had taken the task of comforting Alexia. “You have to leave. Now. Alexia is under enough stress, she can’t handle this all at once.” |

"No need to tell me that," The young man said with a sigh in reply to the white lady, clearly showing little to no sign of stopping from walking away himself. ...Is that it? He really has nothing else to say about what he did, just... break a girl's heart and walk away, not even a frown or or, a grimace or... or anything to at least show the least bit of guilt in it...? "Where are you going...?" The Ordinary Magician muttered darkly, glaring at the young man walking away so casually. "Hey, don't just walk away, answer me-!" He would soon find himself regretting his decision trying to stop Seth as all of a sudden the young man lashed out and grabbed the Ordinary Magician by his collar. With a yelp he was tugged in, before getting his head painfully smashed with Seth's own in a headbutt! "You're right boy, I don't understand a thing about losing loved ones," The young man said with an angry, dangerous growl, almost predatory, the Ordinary Magician whimpered under Seth's much more imposing aura. "What I do understand however, is how much I HATE, having truths being hidden from those who deserves it," "I used to work under, and as a detective, you know," He added, his growls actually getting less pronounced. "I've dealt with a lot of truths, many of them are not pleasant or pretty. I would rather have someone learn the cold, hard terrible truth and become stronger from it and getting closure, rather than keeping them in the dark and leaving them to crawl around being a slave to their own unresolved past," He finished by shoving the Ordinary Magician away with such force that he fell onto the ground. Then again, it's not like he really had that much strength to fight back anyway. "Let this be a lesson to you too," He added, addressing his words to Izumi and Sophia in general. "Don't ever do things half-heartedly. Take a stand, walk forward and don't ever back down even if you are wrong. Indecisiveness is worse than a wrong decision, and I hate indecisive people," As he said that, he turned and resumed walking away without even another glance back, leaving Izumi, Sophia and Alexia to their own devices. |

Despite the harshness of Seth’s words, Sophia knew he was right. Acceptance was the only way for people to move on with their lives, mourning them or dwelling on the past won’t bring the dead back. Frankly she should be the one who understands that the best. The Valkyrie kneeled down next to the fallen Izumi as Seth took his leave, inspecting his forehead and healing any wounds that she found. She never said a word though, and the only indication to what she was thinking was the heavy look on her features. A moment later she stood up and helped Izumi up with her, looking at Alexia and her guardians. “Very well, I live in the Yuki dorms if you need me for anything. I think I can arrange a room for Alexia there if you want.” The white woman shook her head. “No. She can’t handle being around so many people right now. We’ll stay in the surrounding forests, a soothing atmosphere will be good for her.” “The forest isn’t exactly safe you know…” Upon hearing this Rakanoth looked up and glared at Sophia. “Do we look like weaklings? Need I remind you that it was Sariel and I who saved you during our first meeting?” Sophia scowled, something inside her stirring at Rakanoth’s words. “… As you wish. Come on Izumi, let’s go.” The Valkyrie turned to leave and gestured for Izumi to follow her, leaving Alexia quietly sobbing with Rakanoth and Sariel watching over her. |

For once, he had been completely silenced. There was nothing else he could really say, be it out of anger towards Seth, or to thank Sophia for her small assistance, or even an attempt of trying to reassure Alexia. His spirit was... overwhelmed. Never before had he gotten himself yelled at so terribly like that, not since... Faint images of a man and a woman appeared before him, both looking livid, both raising their voices at him... ...Why is he remembering them now...? They're already gone, aren't they...? Whatever happened to them, he wondered... ...But he hated them... Is he happy not knowing whatever happened to them...? Is he just... as Seth put it, 'a slave to his own past' as well...? Izumi took one small uncertain glance back at the sobbing Alexia before letting himself be guided away by Sophia without another word. His head hurts... |
