Beware The Penguin Emperor
|
(You don't have to post here if you on't want to, it's just a meet and greet and kind of get to know what's up for our charas) At the outskirts of the city of Hyakuji, there was a man, red haired and with adult traces in his face, in all likelihood, a man in his late twenties or early thirties. He was carrying an elegant brown suit, perhaps having removed it because of the heat. A brand name Hermes, showed itself on the inside pocket, his white shirt and brown tied accentuated his elegant look, contrasting deeply with the events that would take place soon after. The man was walking towards a building. The building was notable, not for being much taller or wider than most buildings, but because it was the only urban structure in sight for what amounted to at least 2 miles. Large red columns stretched to form a crystal dome within, if one was to look closely, it would be possible to see that a large capsule with a green tint stood on top. Both, the columns and the crystal dome converged towards beige cement sides, although from a distance they seemed to be formed out of completely straight lines, walking in its general direction would reveal that the base of the building scaled diagonally towards the center, and it stretched only slightly further than the columns did, indents on some of the walls revealed what could be rooms. In spite of its gaudy exterior, what laid inside would only be visible to those who entered. The man walked towards an innocent wall, rather than the front door. Noticing that no one seemed to be around just yet, he pushed it sideways, and it moved as a door would, leading him to a dark room. “You think it’ll stand” “With their aid, it will” He spoke with a voice that remained hidden from sight. Afterwards, he slid towards the main lobby from a staff only door, his steps remained soundless throughout the process , even if his heartbeat accelerated at the thought of the event. Timing themselves with his arrival, two large men dressed in black opened the doors of the lobby, “It is time” Soon enough, the contestants would arrive; they would be informed of their teams, and the rules with the aid of, something, a large rectangle covered by a black tarp, extending from side to side in the center of the main lobby. The Middleman (stubborn, yet relaxed)

"Ah, the feeling of a fresh, new tournament. And one without that pesky number of powers limit that I so despise." Shad grinned ear-to-ear with gleaming fangs, making his way over to the rather odd-looking building over in the outskirts of Hyakuji. As always, he was carrying his rather bulky backpack with most of his equipment and items for his attacks without much strain, enjoying the fresh air that this area exhibited and absorbing mana from the floor as well. Still, he wondered why he was selected for this sort of thing given into account his track record with teams were less than satisfactory given his so-called 'allies' often made him the punching bag for the enemy. That, and his actions often were fearful for most who observe his size-altering magic in action. 'I wonder if we'll get to use weapons for this sort of tournament.' He thought as he walked over to the front door, hoping that it wasn't locked since he should be on time to enter the oddly-built facility. |

A team battle tourney was a completely new thing to Hugh. But ever since he had been let out of that big mostly-empty room the faculty used to keep him in, Hugh had been on a seemingly single-minded mission to experience everything he could. He accepted the challenge to fight alongside and against other (presumably) students at the same time that he applied to become a member of the Bracer Guild. Between that, the fighting tournament, fighting a Mecha Zebra, and meeting a fox girl, Hugh was well on his way to experiencing everything life had to offer. That is, the high end of life where all the weird stuff happened. To Hugh, at least, weird and fun were basically the same thing. Unlike the young man he saw ahead of him, Hugh carried nothing with him except the clothes on his back, which amounted to the lower half of the school uniform and a tank top one of the faculty gave to him to cover up with. And the moment Hugh caught sight of the young man, he spend up his walk to the extravagant-looking building. As could be said about a lot of things regarding Hugh, he didn't know his own team mates besides their names, not even their appearances or power sets. Not that it really mattered to him anyway. To Hugh, the mystery meant that anyone could possibly be his team mate and the only way to find that out was to talk everyone he came across. That even included the young man entering the door way. Hugh reached out and put a hand on his shoulder. "Hey! Hey! Hey! What's your name? What's in the bag? Ready for fun? I like fun! Tournament will be fun!" |

Perhaps unlike most, Shisi enjoyed walks. Even long ones, that took him far into the wilderness. The fact that Hyakuji had a forest surrounding its campus greatly delighted the undead. However, on the other hand, he also disliked wasting time to go on meaningless walks. Going meandering for the sake of meandering was both foolish and pointless. However, this day's walk was far from pointless. As fate would have it, the tournament that Shisi has signed up for sometime ago was to be held on the outskirts of town. Not only did that provided the man with a destination, the distance also meant that Shisi would have a chance to partake in another one of his hobbies. Reading. And thus, the kyonshi walked beside the road, his eyes heavily gorging into the book before him. However, his face was furrowed; unlike his usual preferences, Shisi had picked up a relatively modern piece for this walk. It entails a future empire, after quelling a revolt from its imperial colonies, had instated a tournament in which adolescent combatants fought for the entertainment and appeasement of the masses. Of course, such a system was doomed to fail, and eventually the people revolt. "This is what they call modern literature, it seems," Shisi muttered, keeping his thoughts to himself. In any case, his reverie will have to be brought to a close, as a rather large complex came into view above the edge of the pages. It was rather grandiose and exuberant, but Shisi was no architect. It wasn't his place to judge how eccentric a building was. As he approached the front doors, another figure came into view, probably one of the contestants that had been hooked into this trial of mettle. Shisi stopped, a short distance behind Shad. And a shark. One second passed. Two seconds passed. A moment... Shisi raised a brow. Was the boy just going to stand there? Outside? Maybe he was distracted by the shark? There was a shark... Another moment... Guess the building wasn't the only eccentric thing here. Growing tired of standing idly in the sun, Shisi walked past the motionless boy and the energetic shark. Tucking his book under his arm, the undead nonchalantly opened the doors and stepped into the main lobby. "Greetings," Shisi announced, to whoever might be listening inside. Spying a red-haired man standing farther into the lobby, the boy stopped and bowed forty five degrees. "This own is here to participate in the tournament," he announced his intentions, before straightening up again. "This is the place, yes?" |

"Hmm? Oh, hello, sir." Shad didn't even blink awkwardly as he turned partially towards the sharkman, given into account he was used to such unusual body alterations being from a city that specializes in it. "I am Shad Hornswell, a extremely destructive 'pyromancer', and what's inside the backpack is a very powerful set of 'explosive' weaponry. And I suppose it will be fun, depending on how it works and if we survive the first round." He said casually, deciding not to reveal his true powers to the sharkman as he knew that such a tactic may make his opponent flinch just a little bit. "Would you like a free 100 yen coin to remember this epic day?" He offered Hugh a peculiar coin from his pocket, a normal, ordinary non-lethal coin without even a trace of magic in it. Then noted that another person walked right past him and through the door rather rudely after staring at them both for a few minutes. "Huh...I thought the door opened at a set time. Odd." |

TASUKE CHUI Tasuke had arrived alas, getting out his personal drivers car before examining the building. Well, it was quite the sight to say the least. He began to follow a series of hand gestures at the back of his headbands knot; he didn't want something he actually cherished falling from his head, after all. It was a Warp God Headband, but not just any. It was preserved throughout generations of those who practice the art, very few families still have them do to various obstacles in keeping them. It was time for the tournament that he had be training ever so specially for; why is this you may ask? He couldn't give an idea if someone begged him, he was neigh clueless of what was his sponsors excitement about him actually signing up for this Competition. He did not inform him of who the man was, or give literally any sort of info for him to at least feel comfortable approaching the odd building with. Well, that was something he'd grown quite fond of when it came to his sponsor. When it stood for things you hate and love, that quality of Mr.Gin happened to win the gold medal. Whatever, he could just as easily find out himself. As he entered the building and joined the other contestants in the main lobby his eyes began to scan around for the blood haired man who had thrown these shenanigans together. Don't get him wrong, everyone knew Tasuke was all for competition. He just wanted a 'few things' answered before his hand was actually raised in sport there.. he was afraid that was something too grand a request by the looks of the guest. Among the conversing competitors, the only interesting person he'd noticed was Kobushi.. well, he shouldn't have been surprised to see him there at the end of the day.. hopefully he would be able to find out a little more about Seinaru's malicious and dark aura without getting sidetracked. He couldn't help but stress a little internally at the realization the man was not in the main room.. sure, it wasn't a mannerism to greet his guests of honor or anything. Not like most hosts didn't do the same thing, right? ![]() He thought to himself before his view decided to fixate on something it was ignoring through its search; an oddly placed covered object in the center of the lobby. What was this? Perhaps this was what his sponsor decided to hide from him, whatever could be under the black sheet could be resourceful for Mr.Gin. It wouldn't be the first time he'd been thrown into competition for something that ended up with him on the lesser end, but fret he could not. Gin had been working with their family for years, he wouldn't steer the young blonde entirely wrong.. "I guess we'll find out what that is whenever you decide to show face.." Tasuke mumbled under his breath before closing distance between himself and the covered object a tad. His eyes bore into the black cloth, the other guests would begin to think he had X-ray vision with such a persistent stare.. Patience.. KOBUSHI SEINARU ![]() It really was an interestingly designed building, at least to Kobushi. In honesty he was a little taken with the location; it wasn't incredibly far off from civilization or something serious, but it was a little odd that the building wasn't near any others, wasn't it? Well, maybe the host cared about being a disturbance to the public? Of course, that would be the guess to trump all others he'd come up with for the moment. After his stare down with his seemingly immobile contestant (the walls), he entered and was in the main lobby. When he entered, he didn't see anyone he really knew to well; Tasuke hadn't came in until after him, so his attention wouldn't be caught by the entrance of the young Martial Artist. Well, he had been training his technique with the manipulation of his curse in preparation for this.. even the demon within him spoke the night before hand, giving his opinion on what strategies to prepare.. It'd been awhile since he'd spoke with himself.. "I wonder who else is participating?.. huh." He thought aloud, but quietly enough to where he'd assume no one could have heard him. It would appear that more than a few of the contestants were already quite situated and just awaiting information. Moreover, that information would probably explained the covered box in the center of the room.. The day would be interesting. Edited by Kobushi Seinaru, Mar 13 2014, 03:42 PM.
