"I suppose nostalgia does have that effect on people." she conceded But she knew better than that. The way Seth expressed himself had told her more about it than his own words did. One did not need to be a mind reader in order to learn what people thought. Merely observant, and able to lead a conversation in a way that you could control the likely outcomes. Such was the preferred technique of interrogators in the real world for a reason. It was also certainly a lot easier than using enchantments to read into their head, and far less detectable. Then, tilting her head slightly, the young woman said something unexpectedly absurd "Would you mind if I saw it myself?" she asked him |

"...Heh?" It does sound a bit absurd, yes. It took a moment of him blinking at her in silence before realizing he wasn't mishearing anything. "...What do you mean 'see for yourself'...?" |

"I mean exactly what I said." she told him plainly The expression on her face seemed to question him, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world and he was slow on the uptake. How could you ever miss it, it asked him. "Not here of course, but perhaps somewhere more private once we've had dinner. Call it idle curiousity on my part, but it's easier to help someone get over trouble with more detail on the background isn't it?" She gave him a playful grin before continuing "Well, it's your choice, I wont force it upon you if you don't want the help, but you had a troublesome expression on your face." |

"...Exactly what you-" What does that even supposed to mean? Wait, private? After dinner- hold on, is he getting roped into her schemes again? I mean, ...what's with that odd- "One shio ramen and one hokkyoku ramen, up!" He actually jumped in his seat when Old Man Sakakihara literally just announced his presence without warning. At least he didn't knock the bowls off the old man's hand, that would've been a disaster. "...Kuh... Okay, look," He said to resume their conversation the moment the old man was out of earshot. "I'll spare you asking what you actually have in mind, but why does it have to... be in 'private'...?" ...It really would've been much easier if he straight up asked for the first thing. Why was he feeling so tense about that little uncertainty that stopped him from straight up asking her... |

"Because it isn't the sort of thing you should be doing in public, obviously." she looked at him bleakly Nothing more needed to be said. Sweeping her hair back and away from her face, Misae picked up the spoon and instead began dealing with the meal in earnest. With care and consideration, she delicately sampled the broth, giving it the bulk of her attention as she seemed to examine it in detail. Whatever Seth's other concerns were, they could wait until afterward. |

What is this thing you want to do that shouldn't be done in public anyway?! Told you he should've just asked that in the first place. And now it doesn't look like he'll get, or even allowed a second chance. Kuh... what did she mean anyway, 'see it for herself'? What is she even hoping to see anyway, nostalgia? Piano? Her? Why does it have to be in private and can't be here and- ... ...N-nah, can't... can't be, that's a silly thought... In the three seconds it took him to rake his brains for what shouldn't be done in public, he couldn't actually find much except for a certain few... activities... ...Crap now he's thinking too much about it. And it was a while until he caught himself staring at her too, dammit, pull yourself together, she's odd anyway, there's no way she could've suggested what he's thinking, that's just absurd! In a desperate attempt to get his mind off the young woman in front of him he immediately started downing much of the content in his bowl. Much to his regret. His inside kind of burns and hurts now. |

"Do remember to pace yourself, lest you regret it." she reminded him She didn't waste much time talking. One thing about ramen was, made properly, it should be consumed before the noodles got overly soggy with the broth. There was an old saying - People wait for ramen, but ramen does not wait for people. Fairly springy and elastic when fresh, it was properly eaten quickly, but at a controlled, methodical pace to fully enjoy the flavour along with the mix of broth and topings. Slurp up the noodles, take a bite out of the toppings, have a spoon of the broth every few alternations, and repeat until the noodles and topping were consumed. The remainder of the broth could be dealt with afterward at leisure. In all, it took about 5 minutes, and the girl in red neatly set down the bowl and utensils before her. "otsukaresama desu." |

...Seriously? He kind of lost his appetite after the first bite... Unfortunately the idea of leaving a whole bowl unfinished was not exactly a good one, so he kind of had to force it down no matter how much it pains his internals. Or he's just a chronic masochist to spicy food. So polite... After he finished his bowl (accompanied by glasses after glasses of water), the young man wasted no time calling the Old Man to make the appropriate payment while completely forgetting that she had offered to pay for it earlier. In fact he probably had all thoughts about their conversation earlier driven out of his mind by the spicy ramen. "Well, let's go back, it's getting too late..." |

Misae checked her pocketwatch. "It's actually pretty early in the evening." she said aloud, before returning it to it's place. They hadn't been out for too long. Even though they'd left the school a little later than normal, getting here hadn't taken very long either. They'd had dinner perhaps an hour late, and then another hour to get back. The night was still young, but what the Briton considered 'early' might have not been the same as a local resident's. Though, she knew, that wasn't the real issue. It was obvious he wasn't entirely comfortable here. "Well, I suppose if you want to go now, that's fine. Though, pick up your money, I offered to pay for it, and I don't back out on my word. Then..." she added, with a faint, almost cruel smile "Perhaps we can work on satisfying your own curiousity about what I meant." Edited by Katyusha, Mar 24 2014, 01:05 AM.

Whatever she was talking about, it took him a moment to figure it out, blinking cluelessly before remembering her earlier request to see... it for herself. Whatever it was. That apparently shouldn't be done in public. And she still refuses to say it. ...YOU MEAN SHE WAS BEING VAGUE ON PURPOSE?! If it wasn't clear before, she really said it outright now, and knowing it really infuriated him. "...Argh, dammit! Do what you want!" The young man groaned in exasperation, and without another word got up from his seat and took off out of the ramen store. ...He left his money behind. |

"Patience is a virtue you know." she reminded him ![]() "Besides, it was obvious what you were thinking. Your face telegraphs everything you think. It's actually rather cute." She suppressed a laugh. Everyone needed a hobby afterall. Hers simply happened to be teasing people. For the observant, the wealth of information you could get from their reactions was a lot more than one would get simply by asking. Besides, sometimes, it was also really funny. "Now then, go get your change and we can return to the dorms." And that was that. |
