ZEHAHAHA!!
The sound of the door opening could barely be heard over the quiet chatting and the bustle of the high-end jewellery store that was today's target. The Ascetic let her counterpart walk in first, following close behind as the sounds of the outside world faded out when the door closed.

Aurum Mundum was the name of the shop. And for these two competitors, it was a fitting place to meet. The world they each sought to create was worth its weight in gold. Hashing out answers to ideals, finetuning wishes, all those could be done here. Nieves had not expected Naja to accompany her, but she would speak as was expected.

"If you wish to begin, I will listen." The Ascetic said simply, gesturing for her fellow King to start. "What was it that you wished to ask?"

This moment may have been a first in this competition. Perhaps none of the others had deigned to contact each other outside of the context of the Chamber, where they spoke only to answer the trials laid out for them. This could be their chance to start working together. The World of Hope did not have to be mutually exclusive with her counterpart's ideals, after all.

That said, Naja was the most mysterious one of the four. Abilio Ferro wanted freedom, and Lady Saigyouji wanted peace. So what was it that the blue-eyed woman desired?

The tall woman's crystal clear eyes studied the place they were in. Gold and precious stones.
World of Gold. Why would someone pick words of a dead language to glorify a shop was not among Naja's questions.

Recent events tormented her. Why did she join that game? Her motives didn't change, her goal was still there. Too bad she began stacking a pile of doubts in her brain.
Naja waved her hair, taking a second to reorder her thoughts.
That game was out of hand. She realized that. She was nothing but a stupid pawn that played a game, blinded by her own self.
They were used, all four of them. Maybe the one that was in her spot at the beginning understood that, and disappeared for that very same reason.

With each victory in that game the 'winner' was bound to lose something. A part that defined their very own selves.

A price to pay, food for some entity that could grant them their wish. Unless that wish wasn't going to hinder that entity, probably.

The ghostly woman clearly lost something, part of her sanity as well. Naja saw her desperation.

"Wisdom...courage...and now, chaos..." she said "I think we're up for a losing game"
her right hand rested on a glass window, her eyes on the gewels below it.
"We're like fishes, and our wish is the worm on the hook. There will be no wish for us at the end of this road. I feel we're going to be tricked and left with no prize."

She took a deep breath.

"We should stop this game. It's the only way we have a chance to really fulfill our wishes."

ZEHAHAHA!!
Nieves just smiled in her usual fashion, calm and confident as ever. Taking in Naja's words, she had but one response ready for her counterpart.

"You may be right." The Ascetic pressed her palms together. "But in the end, we may be only allowed to proceed rather than halt our progress."

Her gaze wandered to the customers, some of who were starting to pay attention to their conversation. It didn't matter. They wouldn't understand the two's ideals. And nor did she expect them to. This was too crucial of a moment to explain to outsiders.

"Both of us could try to fulfill our ideals independent of this competition. But now that we have bound ourselves in this mystical rite, there may be a trump card that will stop us from quitting. Should that turn out to be the case, I would continue to participate. If that is the only way to survive so that we may keep on striving for our ideal worlds, so be it."

Nieves had absolute faith in her methods. So then, she would not find it hard at all to switch between them. If success was a guarantee through any path, what would help her alleviate the world's suffering first? The wish, of course. But if there was no wish to be had, she would make use of her other options. A bargain made in bad faith would not bind her, that was her resolution. Besides, she had no loyalty to the King, and her ethics could not allow her to bend her knee in true submission.

"I will find a way. And you will find yours. But if the proper time comes and this contest is indeed a legitimate one, we will have to proceed." Her bright green eyes bored into Naja's. "Tell me, what is the path you walk? What awaits us after your wish?"

"A new world order. A place where humans will no longer threaten the world they live in with their selfishness. Humans need guidance, they can't fend for themselves without selfdestructing. I want to grant that guidance and I need all the wisdom and courage I can muster"

The white dressed woman stepped away from the case, raising her right hand briefly before crossing her arms.

"We have to try and stop this game, trump card or not. We'll certainly lose in the end. We'd lose if some of you wins. We'd lose even if I win. Whoever we're gifting wisdom, courage and chaos won't really grant our wish. If we don't want to lose, we have to end this game."

Ah. Well, that still wasn't incompatible with her beliefs. Nieves just smiled at that, rather amused by the notion. Perhaps Naja wasn't as ordinary as she seemed. Still, her counterpart was concerned about the notion of being fooled. With that, the Ascetic put her hands to her sides.

"Long, long ago, I was undergoing a pilgrimage when I came across a very isolated village in the Kunlun Mountains." She spoke calmly, as if this story was important. "They had a rite of passage for their children, one I need not recount. But for those who succeeded in their trial, a celebration was held where they were served the meat of a freshly slaughtered lamb. The greater the victory, the more meat they were given."

Her eyes wandered to the outside, where there were innocents walking about.

"This is our rite of passage. Our struggles, our competition, this is all necessary for the final result. Bloodshed and conflict is unavoidable, if we are to enact rapid change in this world." Nieves pressed her hands together once more as she looked back to Naja. "We have been acquiring answers from the students all this time. But if we were to fight them, I would not know how things would turn out."

Her little smile indicated that she was thinking about it.

"I think I will get them even more involved. After all, the greater the victory, the greater the reward. Or maybe they will put a stop to our contest?" She chuckled, staring knowingly at Naja. "This trial will teach us one thing, at the very least. Are we the ones who are seated at the table, or are we the fresh lamb meat that will be served to the King?"

"I'm no one's lamb."

Those were the words the tall woman spoke. So that was it. Nieves wanted to continue, despite agreeing with her that she may have been right.
It obviously made things more difficult.
The woman before her decided to try and see with her eyes if the wish was granted. On the contrary, she didn't want to take that risk. From Naja's point of view, they were all tricked.

Naja let her hands down.
"Strive for your ideal then, may your path allow you to win your rite of passage. We were opponents already, and it seems that for the moment our position hasn't changed. I'm taking my leave now, I have to pass my rite."

Attacking Nieves to prove her point would just hinder her as well. Not to mention both the other kings would be left free to carry on their plans freely.

She had to come out with a working plan. Something that could put a real stop that series of events before it could be too late.
With a calm exterior walk, Naja's mind was desperately pondering about what to do.
The tall, black haired woman headed for the exit of the shop.

Naja's story continues in "Χάος" episode

"Take care, Naja. It will not be us, but rather the Gentleman you will have to be wary of."

Nieves waited until Naja had left before smiling at the others in the store. It seemed like some of them had started paying attention to what the two Kings had been talking about. That was fine.

"I would advise you to hit the silent alarm right now. I will be taking your wares now."

And as a motivator, she lightly stomped down on the ground. With that heavy impact, the floor of the store was cratered. The displays shook and fell as the main floor of the store caved in around the point where the Ascetic had struck, while the people closest to her were blasted away by the force. The sound of the bomb-like attack would reach for blocks around, no doubt.

"Ten seconds before I start getting serious. Please be quick about it." She said pleasantly.

In a minute or so, the response would be overwhelming. Well, then again, so was her strength. She would see how it would turn out, very soon.

"Maybe today will be the day they kill me."

She smiled at the thought. Maybe. It didn't quite matter, did it? She had died once. Having a more permanent demise would be fine. This world was so beautiful, and so was its people. They would find their way to a brilliant future, whether she was there to see it or not. Bless them all, even those who would strike her down.

But, until that time....

"Come. I await your arrival, defenders of Hyakuji."

Amidst the small gathering of people within the store, a slim, red haired girl stood calmly amidst the cloud of dust now wafting about. Having stopped by to examine the wears earlier, a hint of annoyance marred her otherwise calm expression as she faced Nieves.

Then.... with careful poise and formal words...

Logan was having a good day, he had successfully sold upwards of 10 million yen worth of diamonds so far. It was odd but there had seemed to be an especially large amount of high value diamonds today. Taking commission he had earned 50,000 yen for himself today, that was more than enough to put towards his own gemology business.

He shook his head and smiled, and walked into the back room again, and pulled a medium sized diamond out of his backlog package. He pulled out his loupe and began inspection the diamond, scribbling notes into the inspection sheet.

After a few minutes he finished the inspection, and walked back into a complicated scene. A loud resounding boom knocked him off his feet, after he recovered he looked at the source of the chaos. It seemed that they were being stuck up.

Logan shrugged and looked at the woman in the middle of the store. "Listen, I'd really appreciate it if you left." Logan said, his mood ruined.

"I just want to come back here again and work for money, is that so much to ask?"

He gestured around the store with his crystal arm ."I mean come on, there are so many better places to rob, hell I could even tell you where"

"OH GOD KILL IT WITH FIRE!" "That reaction is how I KNOW I did a good job!"
As precedent had established, Ian Vaner actually made money on the side by producing pearls and selling them to the most prominent jewelry store. His pearls were of low quality due to the speed with which he formed them, but better than most synthetics, with an average retail value of about 2,000 yen each. Given he could make about 10 in a batch every other week, usually with one or two in an unusual shape to fit a particular niche idea some affiliated jeweler inevitably had at the prospect of made-to-order pearl, it was a salary that equated to 10,000 yen weekly, or at the current exchange rate, about 98 USD. Considering Ian led a very anti-material lifestyle and seldom spent his money, and that he didn't exactly have to work very hard at the pearls, this was perfectly okay with him.

Now, the reason it had become well-known was because it had been targeted for a comically unsuccessful robbery in the past. It hadn't been a robbery so much as a volunteer SWAT team of nearby residents spontaneously forming to annihilate the fool in question. The store had released security camera footage of the event, which was funny enough, but some wiseguy had taken the silent security footage and played Yakety Sax over it, and things had gone viral from there, netting the store an impressive degree of free publicity.

Waiting in a (very short) line to get Logan's attention, Ian having a very regular bi-weekly schedule, a small plastic bag of his pearls in hand, he was absolutely delighted to see/hear/feel the explosive tremor. Tossing the bag of pearls on the counter (or what was left of it), Ian practically skipped over to Nieves, skin boiling with mutation already.

His reaction was...not what a bystander may have expected. Spines of denticles, shark-skin toothy scales along his skin, burst through his flesh, albeit without cutting, more just growing. His fingers elongated into thick, steely claws of spider silk, his shirt ripping off his body in tatters (itself made of far weaker protein fibers) as his muscle mass increased to herculean size. His stomach opened into a gaping maw, revealing nothing but condensed, stored fat and nutrient deposits within rather than any digestive organs. Completing the ensemble was a leathery, vein-webbed cape extending out of his neck, which was of all things actually a secondary lung system that carried out oxygen transfer.

For Iangamesh, it is MORPHING TIME!

"Mine! MINE! MINE! Yesyesyesyesyes!" Utter glee at the prospect of mayhem and violence, fighting someone strong enough to do THAT with a stomp while not "serious", had ensued instantly, stark contrast with the more deadpan reactions of the other two. "I rise to your challenge!"

Well, she'd made a very clear statement of threat!

And Ian was being a tricksy pricksy. Yes, he wanted to gleefully indulge in a battle with an immensely strong opponent, and he honestly didn't care much for collateral damage or civilians. What he had up his sleeve however was a trick he knew beforehand to pull against those with exceptional strength, which Nieves had very blatantly demonstrated.

He weakened his body's structural integrity as he lunged. His connective tissues and bones softened severely, in fact, only held together with enough coherency to allow the pouncing motion itself. Internally, he grew silk-enhanced needles that could bundle together quickly into larger spikes, but added no structural cohesion to Ian's body as he'd grown them perpendicular to his motion towards Nieves. He'd very deliberately called attention to himself, even, and played the role of mindless berserker.

The concept at work was that any sort of strike would sink right into, likely right through Ian's body. And that would be a powerful, quick advantage for him, able to chomp down and attempt to dismember/mutilate the limb. Technically, he could also outright try to engulf Nieves and eat her. However, he very doubted that possibility, as if she had the kind of force she'd demonstrated before, she'd easily be able to tear her arm out from him. What he was preying on was the surprise factor buying him time to pierce into her arm with the prepared silk-reinforced protein needles/spikes while he attacked with his claws (arms re-stabilizing in the process) in immediate melee range. The ideal outcome was a crippled limb, free surprise slashes at Nieves's face and neck, and overall ending the fight right as it started.

The downside to this strategy? Ian was gambling all or nothing, as he often did. His sheer ability to survive was immense due to his biological powers, and he was very hard to kill even at his weakest, but if this completely failed and Nieves was able to counter his attack without leaving herself vulnerable, that was it on the spot. The worst case scenario would be Nieves having the physical durability to match her force, any sort of armor that would repel his blades. If that were the case, Ian would have a hole punched through him, already having expent a huge amount of his biomass to pull off all this and prepare it. He did not think he was putting his life on the line, but there was always the chance being this reckless and underestimating someone could have deadly consequences.

Biomass: (Base 200 - Denticles(-10) - Claws+Silk(-15*2=-30) - Cape (-20) - Musclemass(-30) - Structural Weakening(-20) - Internal Blades+Silk(-20*2=40) - Metabolism (-2)) = 48.

---------------------

Meanwhile, in a nearby all-purpose grocery store, Yuzuki was resupplying her ever-present basket of food, though also intending to return to her dorm with supplies her garden couldn't provide. The blasting sound erupting struck her cold, she feared another bombing had been carried out. Slamming down the yen for her goods, she included extra to (almost, her math was off due to diverted focus) pay for 4 first aid kits, including some adhesive gauze wrap, antiseptic rubbing alcohol, splints, casts, Aspirin, numbing gel, and some over-the-counter painkillers.

This took roughly a 40 seconds total, Yuzuki's athleticism serving her well, along with a familiarity with the store. ((Anything after this point will be happening parallel to the next round of posts.))

Noting what she was doing, the store's employees, trained for emergency given this was Hyakuji, spoke over the intercom that remaining calm was the best course of action, and that people should proceed to safety as possible, recommending shelter in the grocery's storage area due to ample structural protection, emergency exits, food, and significant amounts of packaging, ventilation systems, and transportation machinery acting as shrapnel guards in the event of a secondary explosion. Multiple people called the Hyakuji emergency services, which was soon very informed, from multiple perspectives in the area, not only those present in the stores, of what had just happened.

Yuzuki ventured out, but was not alone. One didn't need to be a named PC or NPC to be a hero, and not necessarily with powers of some kind either. People knew there was danger, but more importantly? They knew there were lives at stake, and were willing to risk their own if it meant doing the right thing. Yuzuki was not even the leader of the small group, nor were they clustered together, though due to her location she was bringing the most medical supplies, though one man form a sporting goods store, evidently the manager, was hauling a pair of tent tarps and poles under his arms, supplying a makeshift stretcher.

2 minutes had passed since the blast, and they were approaching the jewelry store. They were starting to be visible from the broken windows, but were not going to arrive for a bit longer.

Hyakuji as a city had seen a lot, been through a lot, and people never ceased to persevere through it. The nameless band, Yuzuki quickening her pace to get near the forward-center of the loose, slowly-condensing group so she could raise stone walls from the ground to act as barriers if needed as well as maximize her passive benefits. They felt calm. Hopeful, and inspired. Her Bond of Unity passive blessing technically should have been having much greater effect due to their united resolve in numbers, but for the sake of balance was having only an emotional impact, focusing and sharpening them to their task, her Aura of Serenity also keeping them very calm in spite of the tense moment.

(Although BoU doesn't actually trigger its effects on non-characters, but I figure just the emotional boost is acceptable given context.)

"Sheesh, there's never a dull moment in this city, is there?"

Randy Suzuki said with an amused sigh, adjusting his sunglasses as he tilted the joysticks in the cockpit piloting his vehicle forward.

Arriving alongside the little band of Yuzuki is probably not some... thing to be expected. Shouldn't be surprising though, considering this is Hyakuji after all, but...

To think that something like THAT would actually be deployed?!

A giant of a blue steel construct slowly marched forward, practically towering over twice, three times over everyone in the area. Each and every one of its heavy steps rumbled the street, leaving behind noticeable footmarks probably won't be appreciated by any drivers after this. "Oh yeah, Ojouchan," A voice of a man came from the steel construct after the blaring siren had been turned off. "Nice of you to be helping out, but if things go south you and your friends better get away, alright?"

Of course, hopefully it won't turn out that way. It's probably not good if he gets this prototype damaged in its first ever field test.

BOOM!!!

"This is the Hyakuji Police Department, put your weapons down and hands in the air!" The speaker boomed loudly just as the mecha rocked the entrance to the jewelry shop with its large and imposing appearance.

An odd looking girl walked down the middle of the street dodging car as she went, talking on the phone absent mindedly.

"-and then i was like 'Kadf'asierov ajiojaiulvbjlaiuer' and his head exploded...*splat sound on the other end*....hello? Are you still there? Hello? Hellooooo-oof!"the phone connection cut off as she ran into a giant robot. Her eyes sparkled. "A GIANT ROBOT?!?!?! THIS IS JUST LIKE EVANGEL***!!! Wait is this a robbery?" She pondered her options. She could walk away. She could stand and watch. Or, like any girl with special powers, she could save the day......her choice was, regrettably, obvious.

Seeing her chance to fight bad guys like a magical girl (who wouldn't want such an opportunity) she posed as she spoke next. "Evil doers! Tremble in fear of the legendary.....umm...hmmm....Ok I don't have a cool name but," she stretched out her arm to the side and the air screamed as reality was torn apart and she reached between realities and drew her umbrella, "if you don't surrender, I'll destroy you."

The situation definitely seemed unusual, that much Ricard could definitely say. It seemed like the person standing in the middle of the cracked floor hadn't even tried to flee at all. He wasn't sure what to make of this, however it would probably be for the best if he stayed around to make sure that nothing horrible ended up happening.

"Not exactly a effective robbery." Ricard voiced his curiosity, he felt like there was definitely more to it then just a normal robbery. After all the person had reasonable time to get out of the area before anyone could catch her yet there she was standing there, almost waiting. It sent chills down Ricard's spine. The whole situation didn't add up at all.

Readying himself he focused on the stranger, he wouldn't draw his weapon just yet but he was preparing himself to react to whatever could end up happening, he doubted that she was just going to voluntarily give herself up. He smirked, this seemed like it would be an interesting situation regardless of how it ended up occurring.

Ice Cream...there was nothing better than ice cream, except for a 20 scoop cone of ice cream. The cashier didn't want to do it at first, but there wasn't a set limit on extra scoops! As Bocky exited the shop all he had to do was carefully make his way to the park where he could eat his cone in piece. As he set out, not even having moved 3 feet, a quake shook the area! It really wasn't all that strong, but it was just strong enough to make him drop his cone. He tried to catch it, but it was too late, there lied his cone, in the middle of the street, a sad pile of ice cream that would never be eaten now.
He dropped to his knees in mourning for his ice cream...after a few moments he turned his head up and a fire was blazing in his eyes, he wouldn't let his ice cream go unavenged! He was going to kick the butt of whoever caused him to drop his cone, and he had a good idea of where to start looking!
Bocky finally arrived at the epicenter of the mess and saw who was responsible for the horrible incident...it was Nieves! Last time they fought she had thoroughly kicked his butt, but now...he had a reason to fight.
He took out what seemed to be a coin and flipped it, suddenly it lengthened into a staff, and landed in Bocky's hand. He gripped it tightly with both his hands and raised it up above his head. He let his staff stretch into an unbelievable long length, with his staff long enough to actually make contact with Nieves, he brought it down with all his might!

"Why, yes. This is a robbery, miss." Nieves had just enough time to make that comment before everything went haywire. While the crystal armed student spoke up, she sensed something rushing at her from behind. The Ascetic reached out with one hand, not even looking as she pressed her hand against Ian's body.

Hmm. A very soft person was the first one attacking her. Given the population of this town, it had to have been an act of bravery or a tactic. Very well then. Seeing as how this warrior had taken initiative, she would allow that to be the tone for the upcoming fight. With a gentle movement, she stepped aside and diverted Ian so that he would fall onto Logan.

Sparing no time to talk, the Ascetic continued on by redirecting the staff as well, her efficient movements brushing it aside so that Bocky's attack would then come down on Ricard. She then slid over to one of the frightened workers who had collected some jewellery, grabbing the bag of stolen goods and raising it up to the people involved.

"Do not try to stop me." She said softly, her voice carrying outside as she continued to address them with that peculiar manner of speaking. "If you insist, you will not appreciate the consequences."

Of course, that would do absolutely nothing to dissuade them. In fact, it would motivate them to try harder. That was fine, though. She simply began walking towards the exit, practically daring them to attack with her casual strides. Such was her new method of fighting.
