One does not simply eat one packet of mee goreng
It was such a regular day at the park, slightly cold as the season is transitioning from winter to spring, nevertheless comfortable enough for people who wishes to have a little fresh air to take walks under the sun. Yet among the many people who are simply enjoying their weekend lounging about doing nothing at the park...

"THE WORLD IS IN DANGER!!!"

...There is one person in particular that stood out like a really, REALLY sore thumb. Overall his appearance would have been fine if it wasn't for that oddly pointed stereotypical wizard hat on his head, the fact that he's actually standing on a broom that's also floating in the air way above people's head, and that he's got a megaphone with him. If someone has a megaphone, clearly they are using it to get a message out to the people, which he is apparently doing now. "Guys, listen to me, I'm not kidding!" He spoke up with a sense of urgency through the megaphone, making sure to aim it at every person's ears he could get his eyes on. "There's like... like three chicks and a dude guy! Okay, one ghost lady, two chicks and one dude guy, they're like... they're doing this... this contest or something for a thingamajig, and they're gonna like, rule the world and stuff!"

...It was... actually hard to tell if he was being serious or not. It's not exactly easy to take someone who looks too much like a stereotypical witch of the old ages seriously, especially when he just came out of nowhere this morning and had started yelling into other people's ears the whole time about this warning thing.

In the meantime, "Are you done yet...? I wanna go back to sleep..." A certain someone in a green Chinese garb who was apparently in cohort with the Ordinary Magician whined lazily just underneath the flying Ordinary Magician. Shun the local teacher and Dragon Youkai of Hyakuji High was also there. Just this morning he was randomly approached by the Ordinary Magician, but before he could really say anything he had already been dragged to the park and was tasked to hold a really large sign with the words "CHAOS INCOMING!" written on it in bright gold paint while Izumi makes his, well... sermon. Needless to say Shun is already tired and he's now lying on the ground trying to sleep with the sign next to him like a hug pillow.

"What- hey come on, you can't sleep yet!" Izumi wasn't particularly pleased at Shun's lack of commitment as he leaped down to Shun, making sure he stays awake by grabbing him by his shirt and shaking him violently. "Look, for once I really am not just fooling around, we seriously need to get people to realize danger is coming!" ...As ridiculous and silly he looked and sounded, the expression on his face was that of genuine fear and worry. And it wasn't an expression that he of all people would wear so willy nilly. "I really saw them...! They were in a cave... and it was taking sacrifices to revive itself..."

Darien, as usual, tiredly wandered the park. He was planning to go back to that coffee shop if he could just remember where it was. It was definitely in this park somewhere. Of course as he walked he heard a cry about the world being in danger. His gut feeling was that it was a crazy person. The world would be fine.

The voice seemed pretty sure though. He looked toward the magician. A magician? Maybe he should... Darien ducked away. Moments later the unrelated existence of Tuxedo Mask emerged in the park. He couldn't remember anything so maybe he should just talk to the magic girl... witch... boy dressed as a witch.

"So tell me magician, what do you suggest we do about these people and ghost?" The masked man asked a simple question.

This was quite the turn in his evening, but hopefully one that would show benefit. What had been no more than a walk in the day that was turned into some sort of zone that had been chosen to alert them of their impending doom? Dangers awaiting them in the future, wasn't that something people in Hyakuji had became use to? The bystanders made him think so; especially with easy flowing questions coming from other people.. he wasn't new to it himself.. just every time something arose, it amazed him. When Tasuke heard the young man ask his question, he couldn't help but follow up with one of his own.

It had been brewing within his mind as soon as the moment hit in the seemingly male witches explanation revealing the detail of a competition in the works. Now, if anyone knew Tasuke, they'd know that was something you wanted to keep him far away from. Waiting for the other man to finish, he began, curiosity present in a groggy voice, it was as if the situation made him dreary; maybe agitated?

Posted Image

He asked this as if the hyperactive witch had said nothing about the fact that someone would be making an attempt to rule the World or anything, but in reality, he had no worry of such blasphemy. If anything, Tasuke would trap the World financially and then take it over socially piece by piece; what foolish beings would try and challenge that? It meant nothing, and on top of all that being said he could inevitably solve it through involving himself in this contest, no?

He'd find out soon.

"If they're strong enough to make claims such as taking over the World, why hold things such as contest anyways?.."He finished, a snicker in his speech as he showed his distaste for the clashing personalities to those he didn't know..

yet.

After the whole getting their souls taken hostage by a psychopathic ghost lady, Kaito had wandered the park thinking about the conversation he had heard. He carried his giant gourd on his back since he feared something bad might happen like the earlier incident. They were supposed to spread the word about the conversation they had? Right like anyone would believe them about a bunch of people competing for a wish and the challenge that ensued would involve Chaos.

"There's like... like three chicks and a dude guy! Okay, one ghost lady, two chicks and one dude guy, they're like... they're doing this... this contest or something for a thingamajig, and they're gonna like, rule the world and stuff!"

Perhaps he spoke to soon. A little ways away he saw some guy yelling about something he couldnt really quite understand from where he was. He decided to see what he was so stirred up about, just to humor him.

"I really saw them...! They were in a cave... and it was taking sacrifices to revive itself..."

"Wait....Im sorry, my soul recently returned to my body, so I dont think i heard you right. Did you say something about a group of people in some contest to try and resurrect something?...How do you know about this? Where did you hear about it and from who?!"

The real question was who was this guy....also why was Shun-sensei here holding a sign? Shouldnt he be sleeping on at a bus station or a bench somewhere?

“Izumiiiiiiiii!! What do you think you’re doing up there?!” A voice familiar to the Ordinary magician could be heard below him. Looking down he would see a frustrated looking Sophie shouting up at him with her hand s cupped around her mouth. She could tell by his expression that he was seriously scared by what he saw, but shouting like this was just going to cause a panic. “Come down here before you cause more of a scene!”

As she waited for him the Valkyrie caught sight of the napping Shun and closed her eyes, shaking her head. It was just like him to be sleeping like this even when danger’s approaching, either that of he didn’t take Izumi seriously at all. Whatever the case she opened her red eye to look at Izumi when he responded to the three people now gathered before the mage. “Now what is this about? Necromancers?”

"Someone is crying of the end of days," a black haired man remark, breaking forth into the circle that had formed around the frantic magician. Well, it would seem Izumi had succeeded in what he had set out to do, if he was trying to grab attention. Shisi's eyes went from floating witch-boy, to the red-haired youkai on the ground. Or, perhaps more specifically, the sign that he was holding.

Chaos incoming.

Well, that wasn't too far from the stereotypical "The end is nigh!".

Wordlessly, Shisi plunged his hands into his pocket, the sounds of shifting paper could be heard. Then, after moments of struggle, the pale boy fished out a crumpled thousand yen note, before promptly handing it to the man brandishing the sign..

Well, what else would you do? Two guys dressed in odd clothes, carrying signs, sleeping in the park and heralding the destruction of the world as we know it. Obviously, they were homeless. Or street performers. Though, Shisi wasn't all too sure would street performers sleep on the streets. But in any case, he wasn't above a little bit of passion. Its not like he needed to put bread on the table anyways.

Turning to Izumi in the sky, Shisi nodded, saying "Please, continue the story." It would seem that the witch's spiel of ghosts, sacrifices and resurrection had caught the interest of this corpse. But, unlike the rest of the crowd assembled, Shisi wasn't very serious of what Izumi had to say.

However, perhaps, a bit ironically, he was also the most interested.

"Eh? What is all of this disorderly commotion?" John arrived on the scene, dressed a little too warmly for the weather as he squished his way to the front. Ah, there were two friendly faces he recognized. He immediately turned to Sophia, moving to hold her hands if she let him.

"Sophia, my dear friend, are you recovering well? For all of my cheer in the immediate aftermath, I could not find myself sleeping all that well without knowing if you were okay. That dreadful incident in the nightmare realm must have been terribly painful!"

He might have been made of jelly, but his expression of concern was rather accurate to that of his previously ordinary self. Anybody who faced their worst fears would need time to recover, no matter how strong they were! And now, another incident that seemed related to the odd contest was popping up?

Surely, that meant he had to check up on her! It would be heartless of him to leave a good friend of his alone after such an experience.

...Okay hold on, one question and one person at a time! "Nononono, not necromancers, no! ...Actually I dunno if one of them might be one..." He had a bit of a second thought as he dropped the now snoozing Shun, contemplating Sophia's assumption... when one by one people started coming up to him? Oh wow, it's working, he's actually attracting people! Even better, "...Wait, you were one of- Then you can be my witness!" He said cheerfully, delighted to have found someone sitting in the same boat as he does, leaping forward and immediately shaking Kaito's hand.

Right, now for the more important part. "Okay okay... gather around, I'll explain... somehow..." Even though he already did, albeit pretty badly so some might probably not even get it. Though now he's got someone else who might probably be able to help him, I dunno...? "Erm... O-okay, lemme... lemme start from the top..." ...This is actually proving to be much harder than he thought...

"So to start... out there somewhere, there's this... some kind of sealed Entity of a sort..." He began his explanation as best he could, his face scrunching up trying to remember every single bit of little details he had seen and heard from that... desert world and that cave. "This... this Entity... it's apparently super powerful. Like... he can grant a wish to... to someone, just one person though! Just one person... he can grant one wish, to one person, with enough power to change the whole world as we all know it..."

"But it's not just for anyone apparently! All he did was... I dunno, he only picked four people out of everyone else in this world... There was um. There was a... a ghost lady..." He actually faltered slightly when mentioning that, but he gave a swallow and trudged on. "And... and another two lady, they're well and alive... A-and a guy, who... who apparently lost his wife and kids..."

"Okay, now... I dunno what kind of requirements that... Entity had for picking those four over anyone else, but that doesn't matter now! They all... all four of them have this... okay, they want to make a wish to change the world to fit their ultimate ideals. I dunno what the two living ladies wanted, I don't think they said anything... but... but the ghost lady... she said she wanted, a... peaceful and harmonious... world...? Gah, I dunno..." He shook his head to get the mental image of the desert out of his mind yet again, before continuing, "And the guy... well, his is pretty straightforward, he wanted to make a wish so that the whole world lives in complete Anarchy..."

The Ordinary Magician couldn't help but shiver at the thought of such a world. "But anyway! They want the wish to change the world! Or rule them, I dunno... And the Entity can only grant the wish to one person! ...S-so, they... they kinda have to like, I dunno... sacrifice a part of themselves to the Entity to resurrect him...? And it wasn't just any kind of sacrifice either, I think... Crap, it wasn't money or blood or... anything materialistic... That Entity takes sacrifices like... if I remember right... their 'Wisdom'...? 'Courage'? ...Look, I don't know everything! Don't ask me how they work, I'm not one of them, dammit!"

Frustration was getting to him as he angrily grabbed the big pointed hat he was wearing and started biting and chewing into it, yelling out in a muffled voice as well. This brings him to his next point however. "...That Entity asked for 'Wisdom' and 'Courage' as sacrifice... now it's asking for... 'Chaos'...? What the heck is that supposed to mean anyway..." Well, obviously he knows what chaos freaking means in definition, but... how do you sacrifice 'chaos'...?

Okay... he's got the important stuff out, he's calming down a bit, finally... "...I know about this because that ghost lady... she kind of caught me and a bunch of us and stole our souls. ...It should be on the news, shouldn't it, 'everyone at some street in the city all passed out and went into a coma' or something? That was her doing," The Ordinary Magician's eyes lingered for a moment on Kaito. "Aaaand she tried to sacrifice us too so that that Entity pays more attention to her. ...She then chickened out though in the end..." Thank god for that I guess...?

But... does that really change the situation they're in though...? "...I..." As much as he wanted to give a proper answer to Darien's question, he... really couldn't. The Ordinary Magician himself was panicky, at loss on what is going on, and now he's told by the ghost lady that the other three would be making their moves... "...Keep an eye out for any odd happenings...?" It was the only thing he could really muster saying with a straight face. Or at least, as straight as his nervousness could let him. "I-I don't know... I've got no idea what they're doing, when they're doing and how..."

"This mystery thing is obviously going to twist the wish of the person even after they do all sorts of horrible things to get to make it at all." Putting aside these four mystery people who were going through all of this the entity was obviously just going to cause problems no matter who won.

"So I'm going to ask again, what do you suggest we do about it?" That was the real point of this. Either they could do something, in which case he was more than willing to play the hero or the villain or whatever they needed to do, or they couldn't and talking about it was a waste of time.

“Ah… John, good to see you too. I’m doing much better, thanks for your concern.” Sophia gave the boy a small smile, but looked away. It ashamed her, but she had succumbed to the insidious attacks of the nightmare world and had been out of action for the incident. While she was strong physically, the Valkyrie was still vulnerable to psychological attacks, so the nightmare realm was the perfect weapon against her.

She pushed the thoughts out of her mind and returned her attention to Izumi’s explanation. It didn’t take her long to put two and two together and figure out that the man from the maid café was most likely the same man part of this contest, and she had been caught up in the ‘courage’ phase. Now that she thought about it, he disappeared pretty quickly, and with the book of nightmares too. Maybe that was his offering?

Whatever the case, Sophia certainly didn’t like the idea of this ‘chaos’ phase. If the courage phase involved people losing their souls, she didn’t want to imagine what chaos would bring. “Calm down Izumi. Where is this cave? I’m not saying we should attack it outright, but if anything we should keep a watch on it.”

"'Chaos'...?" Shisi repeated, as the witch's tale began to trail off. As the blonde bit the edges of the cap, the kyonshi's mind began to wander. Magical entity, contests, resurrections and sacrifices. And a wish. It seems this was more than just some teller's tale. In the short days Shisi had been here, it had become apparent that Hyakuji was a hotspot for such... events.

As Izumi continued, words such as "Wisdom" and "Courage" fell upon his ears. Shisi knew what those were; esteemed virtues. But what of "Chaos"? That seemed completely unrelated to what the two prior sacrifices. But, asking for chaos...

"How cowardly," Shisi remarked to no one in particular. What would such a thing want with chaos, though? And how would these fore... players, act in order to obtain that essence? The thought was at least unsettling. Chaos, philosophically, can be equated to a perfect freedom; the property of being able to act with a complete disregard for consequences. And, in Shisi's mind, that was a fool's world. If one face the effects of one's actions, then one was never worthy to have acted to begin with.

"No one person should be able to steer the course of a world." That simply is not right. In a world with over seven billion individuals, that was much too selfish a burden for one person to bear, regardless of who they were. Shisi wasn't even worried about any twisted malice from the entity; it wasn't even about that anymore.

"Especially someone who would sacrifice others so callously." Though Izumi had said that this... "ghost lady", in the end, didn't offered up lives, it still stands that she had considered the option. And if someone was willing to sacrifice others for this game, then that meant that the other three would probably play by similar stakes.

To Shisi, that was just wrong.

Hearing Darien's reply to Izumi, the kyonshi nodded. He was, more or less, of the same opinion as the sharply dressed boy. Debating about philosophy, though a good way to pass time, wasn't the best course of action at the given moment.

"Ugh dont remind me of that. You know what it feels like just being a soul? Its not all that great to be honest. Plus being offered as a sacrafice didnt exactly help it." said Kaito bitterly.

He still resented Saigyougi for stealing their souls in the first place. Though at least she released their souls, which i guess didnt make her all that bad. Still that wasnt the problem anymore. The problem now was the Chaos that may or may not ensue.

"Its hard to tell what the challenge may mean. Chaos come in many different forms. I guess it all really depends on the person. Luckily for us one of them ismt participating in the contest any longer. So thats one less person causing chaos..hopefully."

He couldnt exactly be sure that Saigyougi would follow through on what she said. All he could do for now was just to spread the word of the chaos that is to come.

"One less person causing chaos~?"

The voice would be familiar to those who happened to meet up at the cafe. Needless to say, it probably wouldn't be a voice that any of them probably particularly wanted to hear, especially since she was one of the few that did manage to escape having her soul offered. Kues approached the small gathering, and seemed to have heard most of what they have been talking about.

"Shouting in the middle of a park that the world is in danger~? Who would have thought that Saigyouji would actually take my advice~☆"

While Saigyouji would probably have been able to remember clearly what Kues had advised Saigyouji, the others probably wouldn't. After all, the others at the meeting didn't know Kues whereas Saigyouji already knew what kind of person she was.

Kues was a little disappointed to see that Saigyouji hadn't made an appearance yet. It wasn't really the group Kues wanted to meet, but Saigyouji. After all, there was no fun irritating someone when you couldn't see their reaction.

"Sooo, what do you plan to do to stop this chaos~?"

There was actually a deeper meaning in Kues's question, however that would have been left to those who were answering to figure out what Kues actually meant.

"If you ever need somebody to talk to, I will do what I can." John said soberly. The amount of restraint he was displaying was uncommon, but he was addressing a friend in need right now. "Feel free to do so, Sophia. What sort of fellow would I be if I disparaged somebody who needed it, much less a dear friend of mine?"

With that, his attention was pulled back to the long-winded explanation that proved to be quite intriguing. A particular contestant pulled out, so there was only Abe and the other two mystery opponents to deal with. So then, what to do?

"It seems to me that we must anticipate the appearance of the remaining Kings. They seem to be magnets for our particular brand of trouble, so getting them to stop before they bring even more disturbances to our town!"

Until their competition ended, they would keep popping up to cause mayhem. Why not stop them sooner than later to restore some semblance of peace?

Well, okay Darien (still not knowing his name though) is probably more than right if they're trying to be genre savvy. But it's clearly more than obvious that something fishy is going on here, and at the rate it's going they probably wouldn't even have the chance to worry about what would happen after this whole challenge is finished.

And... look, it's really frustrating to have so much knowledge about something, but at the same time having absolutely nothing of what's needed at the moment. They know what's going on, they know who's in it, they know what's gonna happen, but... what are they supposed to do about it and how...? "I really don't know... especially not the cave, I really don't..."

"Still indecisive? Che, how cowardly,"

"...Who are you calling a coward-!"

Posted Image

He takes it back, he's a coward.

It was not the face the Ordinary Magician would have the delight of seeing at all. The moment he realized who the voice belonged too he immediately yelped and scurried off to hide behind Sophie.

"To think that I actually chose you as a worthy sacrifice, I suppose I was mistaken?" The woman whom had just appeared, seemingly out of nowhere said with an unmistakably regal tone. Not one of arrogance, but it definitely gave off the vibe of someone of a much higher social status than the rest. She was even dressed the part, clad in an ornate pink kimono that would make more sense to be worn by a royalty of olden times. It wasn't just that, to those with the ability, they would even be able to sense... an incredibly strong presence of spiritual energy coming from her. She's... hardly alive, yet her... presence is incredibly powerful... and ethereal, rather than physical.

"Ah, I see there are quite a number of unfamiliar faces here," She said as she turned to everyone and completely ignoring the presence of Kaito and Izumi. "My name is Saigyouji of the Afterlife. I assume all of you have heard of the full story, and yes, I am one of the participant of this... 'game'," She said with a bow to all of them. Not a deep one, but one that at the very least shows respect. "And, Miss Bernkastel-Kues?" She added, momentarily turning to Kues with a small smile. Oddly enough, she didn't call her a Witch like she usually would. "I'm afraid you will be disappointed, because it is true I won't be doing anything for this trial,"

She gave a chuckle, hidden only behind the folding fan in her hand. "In any case, should you not be doing something now? I believe one of the participants, Nieves, is already beginning to take action,"

As she said that, everyone at the park would be able to hear something... a tad bit worrisome. The faint ringing of what could easily be recognized as police siren...
