Hyakuji 2.0 Template

Character Name: Matthew Hazeman
Gender: Male
Age: 121 (Appears roughly 18 or so)
Height: 6'8"
Weight: 195 lbs.
Description or Image of Character Appearance: Matt is a big guy. He outright towers over most people, and has a rather broad physique to match. However, despite the fact that he is indeed stronger than just about any normal person, he doesn't really have a lot of muscle definition or tone. His height isn't the only thing that makes him stand out, though. Matt's got very light blonde hair. In fact, it's almost white when you catch it in the right light. He generally doesn't bother with really styling it, instead choosing to simply let it do as it will. The one eye that Matt still has is a bright, vivid green in color, and always seems to have a slight spark of amusement within it.

In addition, Matt has a lot of scars. There's the remains of the burn that took his eye on the left side, claw scars on his face from one of his brawls with an animal-form Homunculus, a small nick on his throat from a particularly violent barfight, a trail of tentacle marks on his upper right arm, and a large bitemark on his left forearm. The most obvious scar of them all though is his missing eye. There's literally nothing in his left eye socket. Thankfully, he keeps it covered with a green silk eyepatch most of the time, sparing people from looking at it. The last thing significant about Matt's appearance is the symbol that's formed on his chest, a pair of overlapping teardrops that mark all Homunculi created by the same branch of alchemy that created the Kakugane.

Matthew Hazeman

Occupation: Student
Grade Level: 2nd year
Powers/ Abilities:

  • Regeneration - As with all Homunculi, Matt possesses regenerative capabilities. However, his are woefully deficient when compared to others of his kind, due to the subtle flaws in the process he used to change himself. Normal, non-alchemic wounds heal over the course of 2 to 10 minutes (depending on severity), as opposed to the near-instantaneous healing factor of other Homunculi, and he can't heal the wounds inflicted by Kakugane at all.
  • Immortality - Matt hasn't physically aged a day since his transformation into a Homunculus, and never will. In addition, he's outright immune to virtually all diseases, and toxins/poisons won't kill him (though ill effects are definitely going to arise regardless).
  • Enhanced Physicality - Matt's better than virtually every normal human in strength and speed. He can crack concrete with a couple of forceful hits, and averages out at roughly 20 mph when running. However, he still falls behind non-flawed Homunculi on this front.
  • Martial Arts Training - Matt lost a good chunk of his training in martial arts after his battle with Lady Sevensins. Well, it wasn't so much lost as it was made extremely fuzzy after being buried underneath castle ruins for 103 years. However, after some R&R at Hyakuji, Matt's starting to get back into his training routines, and some of the knowledge is beginning to come back to him. At the present moment, all he currently remembers with any degree of certainty is Jiujutsu, though he is fairly proficient in it himself, and he has his increased strength and speed as a homunculus to augment it as well.

Equipment You Have:

  • Hip Flask - Yes, Matt does carry a hip flask around with him at every available opportunity. Even if his transformation into a Homunculus has made it exceedingly difficult for him to get drunk, he still likes the pleasant burn of alcohol (up to and including pure 100% alcohol.)
  • Liquid Courage: One Use Item. A collection of The Beast's blood. When consumed, grants the user an indomitable will, that cannot be shaken for the entire topic.

Residency Request: Yoshima

Schedule:
Homeroom Teacher: Lavender
1)History
2)Science
3)Cooking

Personality Description: Matt doesn't quite have the personality that most people would expect from what is essentially a century-old monster. He really does seem to be a rather nice, congenial guy. The reason for this is because he actually is a nice congenial guy. He's quick to make jokes, and doesn't really seem to not get along with most people. Beyond this though is his own ego, his desire to be better than others, to enjoy lording over other people. Making jokes at other's expense is simply one way that he can get away with it, one that presents no danger or rebuttal in most cases.

Of course, there are some slight issues arising from just how out of touch he is with the modern world. For one, he finds the lack of religious influence in life now quite frankly astounding. In addition, he's confused by "simple" things that modern people take for granted, like cars or the internet. In fact, just about the only thing he seems to understand in the modern world is the more advanced biological developments that have become widely understood, but that's only because he had a headstart on them thanks to his alchemic research. So it's really not uncommon for him to not get standard cultural references, or even some historical events (Like the fact that there's been two world wars in the time he was buried, or that America is now a superpower.)

Personal History: Matt was born in 1889 in Ireland to an extremely poor family. It was a miserable time, with Matt being forced to work in a factory in Dublin to help support his family. Even then, it wasn't enough, and eventually his parents were forced to give him to an orphanage when he was just 6.

And that's when his life took a radical change. A group of Homunculi had been using the orphanage as a long-standing source of both sustenance and potential Familiars. Matt caught the eye of Lady Sevensins, one of the most powerful members of the group, when he accidentally beat one of the other orphans to death while trying to stop a group of them from stealing food from him. The Lady saw potential in him, and convinced the rest of the group that he would be a valuable asset if they took him in and gave him a proper training. So they took him in, training him in a wide variety of weapons and fighting styles, slowly working to train him as a potent Familiar.

The years rolled by, with Matt proving himself as every bit the valuable asset that the Lady said he could be. Roughly 6 years into his time as a Familiar, the Homunculi decided that he was finally trustworthy and competent enough to equip with a Kakugane and send against their foes, whether they were other Homunculi or the occasional Alchemist Warrior. It was the boy's first real taste of power, though he knew that it paled in comparison to that of his masters, it was still exhilarating. It was that moment that finally settled for him that being a servant wasn't enough. He wanted to call his own shots, to chart his own course. And so, after four more years of piecing together information, of using his execution operations to clandestinely gather alchemic research on the process of becoming a homunculus, of preparing his embryo, he broke away from the group he was a Familiar to.

To say that his attempt ended horrifically would be an understatement. Lady Sevensins personally hunted him down and beat him to a bloody pulp, burning out his eye with her own Buso Renkin. The only thing that saved him was the fact that their battle collapsed the abandoned castle he had adopted has his hiding place on top of him and the embryo. He's not entirely sure what happened after that. All that he knows is that his embryo somehow got to him, even though it wasn't fully completed. He knows that he spent a long time asleep and unaware underneath the rubble. And he knows that the world has changed quite a bit. So he had to find a place to readjust, one without many Homunculi or Alchemist Warriors. With a great deal of help from some independent Animal Homunculi, he's managed to find the perfect spot, in the strange country of Japan. A school filled with all sorts of uniquely empowered individuals. A place called Hyakuji...

Thank you for your profile!

I have looked over it, and there are just a couple of issues with the powers.

For Regeneration, if you intend to use the regeneration for battle, then I would recommend changing the time constraints from minutes to posts. If not, then given how long the regeneration actually takes, I will let the minutes thing pass.

For Immortality, while I will accept that poisons and toxins won't kill him, I am going to say that having a hard time affecting him at all would count as a separate power since a lot of toxins and poisons aren't used for killing, and it would fall under a poison/toxin immunity power rather than immortality.

Finally, for the physical powers, since you have both strength and speed under one power, the boosts are going to have to be toned down to match that. I am going to say that a punch that can easily crack concrete is going too far as the strength aspect is concerned and will need to be toned down.

Once all edits have been made, please post a reply to this topic.
Thank you!

Alright, the minor edits have been made. The regen will not be fast enough to work in combat, for the record.
