“Mmmmm…. This is the best kon~” Life was good for Katina. The space fox had been sent here by the emperor of the Galactic Fox Empire himself to ensure that the newly encountered humans will be proper allies for the Empire. It was supposed to be an assignment, yes, but it really was a vacation. Katina was an admiral for the Imperial Fox Navy, a well decorated one at that too, and with the war going on she had been very busy on the front, so it was about time she got some R&R, and Earth was the perfect place to do it. Earth was a neutral zone, so there was no danger of attack here, and Katina trusted her subordinates to handle the battlefield in her absence. Besides, the food here was exquisite~ She stretched out and leaned back against her cushion like tails, picking up a strand of grapes from a nearby bowl. They held a unique flavour that the admiral, or any other space fox for that matter, had never tasted before. Using them as ammo would be such a waste, maybe she could take some back to her estate when this was over. Oh and some of these… soy beans too. Tofu on Earth was made differently it seemed, but Katina certainly wasn’t complaining. The texture of the skin… the soft insi… “It’s almost time Milady, the humans will be here soon kon.” Katina shot a glance at Captain Kimi. “Tch… fine, fine. I’ll be out shortly kon.” The young captain really should pick her timing better, but since she WAS the one who made first contact Katina decided to cut her some slack. Ah well… she still had a job to do after all. At least she can get back to her vacationing after the human recruits were off planet. Katina slipped off her throne-like seat and made her way to the main lobby of the small complex they were using as their embassy with Kimi in tow. For the past few days she had spread word that the GFE were looking for volunteers, and now it was time to see the results. Kimi had said she had found a few prospective candidates during first contact, so the admiral was expecting a decent turnout today. All they had to do was wait~ Edited by Sophia Antistita, Feb 12 2014, 10:00 AM.

A messy-haired boy already stood in the center of the... What the heck was this place anyway? He was fairly certain that this building wasn't the "Galactic Fox Empire Embassy on Earth", or whatever it was this circus called itself, yesterday. In fact, he was fairly certain that but a night ago, this place had been nothing more than empty space. Xie closed his eyes, his brows furrowing slightly. Already, the premature signs of wrinkles were beginning to settle, due to that constant action. Well, in any case, here he was now, standing in the center of the embassy lobby, with an expression that would make anyone think that a dog had just dirtied his shoe. His arms were crossed, pulling slightly at the fabric of his school blazer. His black shoes also tapped the floor lightly, giving a melodic and methodical indication of his temperament. Which, if it wasn't obvious, wasn't very pleased. Upon hearing footsteps, the alchemist opened his eyes. "Took long enough," the boy remarked coldly. A quick glance to the clock, however, would reveal that they were just on time. Not that it mattered to a person like Xie however; he had been standing in the lobby for close to five minutes. The boy could be surprisingly punctual, it seemed. Or perhaps he just disliked wasting time. And seeing the two representatives of the GFE, Xie could already tell that they wouldn't get along. Particularly that black-haired one; sloth seemed to radiate off her like her tails. "Xie Yuqing," the boy introduced himself quickly. Uncrossing his arms, the boy inspected his fingers, as if they held more interest than the two individuals before him. However, despite his overt attention being drawn by his gloved hand, the boy's senses never left the two. "I heard you were looking for volunteers?" |

Runelle had been allowed to take her power armor to the 'war'. She giggled, considering their definition of war seemed to essentially be a glorified food fight. Truth be told, the armor actually took quite a bit of skill to use. One had to have learned advanced magipathy to even begin to wear the armor as anything other than mere bulky platemail armor. They then had to learn to coordinate their magipathy and movements to compliment one another. In exchange for this, however, they received physical abilities that exceeded most humans. Too bad that wearing the armor everywhere was too much of a hastle. Still, she believed it to be for the best to wear it to the embassy. She had to admit, the imperial embassy was established incredibly quickly; even the ancient Geisinans wouldn't have been able to construct it so quickly, as much as she hate to admit it. Seeing the admiral, she approached her, keeping respective distance, and curtsied "A pleasure to meet you, ma'am." she told her "I am Runelle Aeisona, Lin'Seruki of House Geisina of the former Geisinan Empire. I must admit, I haven't worked with another empire for ages." she let out a hardy 'ohohohohoho!' at the end. The truth was, of course, that there was a good chance, at minimum, that Geisina hadn't been around since before the Space Foxes even had space flight. Geisina had been, after all, a precursor civilization. |

Despite what one might think from the usual understanding of human science fiction, Tyzal really had nothing against the notion of an interstellar Empire. Well, nothing inherently against them, at least. A centralised power structure could be beneficial in all sorts of ways, ensuring common law and order without quite so many of the hassles of bureaucracy. Considering his own homeworld was a form of dictatorship, it made sense to him. There was however, an issue in the way an Empire might go about expanding its territories, and he supposed that was why he was here today. Not only were these foxes attempting war on another sentient species for some reason that remained unknown to him, but now they sought to involve the people of Earth in their conflict. It was bad enough as it was, but it might not simply stop there... But, this was why he was involved. Flipping down his strangely colored glasses unto his face, Tyzal then pulled from his bag a long, blue trenchcoat, and in one quick flurry, threw it upon himself. Buttoning it up around his upper torso, and with clean white trousers above the most impeccable shoes... He would enter the building looking less like Subaru Hoshikawa, and more like a whole new figure! ...With the same build, hairstyle, and voice, and one could be pretty sure this was the look he'd used with the other embassy just down the street. Yet clearly the glasses being actively worn and the trenchcoat would hide his identity. Yes. "I am Tyzal Mererin, the arbiter for this conflict." And once again, he stepped inside a building used by alien power, and folded his arms in an assertion of the facts. "I will ensure that both sides abide by their promise to ensure that Earth's citizens do not come to harm, and are safely returned to their homes on completion of conflicts. Am I clear?" He might have had a script somewhere regarding what he was meant to say and do in these circumstances, but one thing that certainly wasn't on the script... "...R-Runelle?! Isn't it improper for a supposed sponsor to so clearly choose a side?!" Was finding a former coworker looking decked out as could be for the conflict ahead. It shattered almost all of Tyzal's effort to seem cool and in control, and it was in realising this fact that he scrambled to fold his arms again, artificially huffing up his chest as he did so. |

Emilio V. Huertas was also in the line of fresh new recruits waiting to help the Foxes in their war against the bunnies. He wasn't a fan of war in any way and since both sides here didn't exactly kill each other, he didn't have to worry about any moral decline along the way, but he would stay sure to keep himself in check just in case. His decision to join this group over the bunnies was pretty simple in his own mind. The bunnies basically treated them like prisoners even though it was one of their own kind who took them to her clan, while the foxes although captured him too were much friendlier to him than he expected. He also felt like staying on this side because of the fox girl Tina who accompanied him last time. Since death defying stunts like those in space are bound to build some sort of camaraderie between the people involved. He really didn't want to shoot or get shot down by her if she was on the enemy's side either so his choice was easy. When he arrived he was rather confused. Aside from Xie Yuqing, the other two gave him and off sense of technological superiority to him. He was a country boy and grew up in a small town for most of his life so he knew when people were well-versed in something techno just by looking at them. He did not however know what it was or why it was important, it just gave him an odd vibe. Although the boy did seem familiar, but he was having a hard time remembering from where exactly. Actually to be fair, everyone looked smarter than him, and he was intentionally ignoring all the odd details of the people around him but he wasn't going to let that bum him down. He was a cheerful guy who would seek peace the minute the treaty first showed up as long as it was a reasonable deal. ''Emilio V. Huertas, happy to help out whenever I'm needed.'' His voice was cheerful, but relaxed at the same time. It didn't seem like a drag at all what was happening. |

Ryou walked over to Kimi and Katina, a small grin on his face. He hadn't even needed directions to find the place, the smell of kitsune had been enough to guide him. After so many years of complaining about Tsuki, Hikaru, and the nine-tails, who would have thought he would actually miss the scent of others of his kind. It was almost enough to make him homesick. Almost. The young fox walked up to the two of them, his grin fading as he saw Katina's appearance, his eyes moving over her tails. Unless he was very much mistaken, he counted nine. He watched her carefully, suddenly on guard. The sight of those nine tails was almost enough to make him want to turn around and leave before he got into trouble, but he'd already agreed to join. He didn't know if things were different on other planets, but he certainly wasn't going to risk pissing off a second Kyuubi. Youkai lifespan or not, he was already pushing his luck. Against his better judgment, he stepped forward, walking past Xie, Tyzal, Runelle and Emilio as he faced the two women. As he did, the illusion covering him began to fade away, revealing the red ears on top of his head and his single red tail, and also revealing his claws and fangs. He stopped a respectful distance away, turning towards the two of them. He spoke to Kimi, because he'd already spoken to her, and because he didn't trust himself to not say something stupid to Katina, instead acknowledging her with a quick bow before turning away. "Well, I'm here," he said. "I'm called Ryou, and I'm a kitsune of this world." A young, brash, impulsive kitsune of this world who was in serious hot water with his elders--but he certainly wasn't going to tell them that. |

“You heard correctly youngling, so if you’re volunteering stick around kon.” Katina shot a look of displeasure at Xie. The admiral did not tolerate such attitude from her men, so his cold tone easily irritated her. But, they were Earthlings and didn’t know who she was or the respect she commanded, so she convinced herself that they will learn respect later. At least the next applicant was more courteous, and Katina returned the gesture. “A pleasure to meet you too Lin’Seruki Aeisona.” Being from an imperial family herself the fox woman addressed Runelle using her title. She even held a bit of respect for the Geisinan, if only because they were both imperials. “I trust we’ll get along just fine kon~” Then there was Emilio, the young man who had joined Kimi during their boarding attempt. Katina easily caught onto his cheerful attitude and gave him a smile and a pat on the shoulder. “So the young one has felt the thrill of the hunt and wants more kon~? I welcome you back with open arms, from what Kimi told me you’re quite a capable fighter kon.” She made to address Tyzal, but something in the air caught her attention and she grinned widely when she recognized the scent. “Oh my… what do we have here kon~?” Katina purred softly as she watched Ryou revealed his true form, showing just a hint of surprise. “When Kimi told me that there would be one of us joining I didn’t expect someone as cute as this~” The way he turned away so quickly only served to entice Katina more, seeing how she misinterpreted it as shyness. The nine-tailed admiral strolled over and circled Ryou a bit as if sizing him up, and, from her increasingly louder purrs, liked what she saw. Only when Kimi cleared her throat did she stop and return her attention to Tyzal. “Yes, yes, I understand your concern for your people arbiter. But trust me when I say they will be kept safe kon.”She waved a hand dismissively, seemingly more annoyed at being interrupted. “Besides, I’m sure you’ll do your part.” With a bit of a huff Katina returned to Kimi’s side and adopted a formal militaristic tone. “My name is Katina di Sangro, Admiral of the Galactic Foxian Empire and your commander in chief for the duration of your tour of duty kon.” She looked at the people gathered before her. “You may be special volunteers, but you’re still soldiers of the Empire and will be treated as such kon. I expect you to follow orders, whether they’re from me or my subordinates. Is that understood kon?” “First order of business. State your abilities and we will get you equipped for combat kon.” Kimi dutifully took out a tablet device and made ready to take notes on the volunteer’s powers while Katina nodded at Emilio. “Private Huertas, proceed to through the door behind me kon. We already have your abilities logged so you’ll be issued a combat suit immediately.” Should Emilio comply, he would find a familiar face waiting for him on the other side. “Ah Emilio, good to see you again kon.” Tina stood in the room surrounded by various pods labeled “tofu materia”. “Let’s get you suited up kon, it’ll be quite different from last time, but there’s nothing to worry about.” The fox girl stood Emilio in front of one of the tofu pods and pressed a button, causing the tofu inside cascaded over the aeromancer. She pressed a few more buttons and the soft material quickly shaped itself into a form fitting combat/space suit, complete with a removable helmet and visor. “Looking good there kon. You’ll be able to use your abilities freely with the suit equipped, and it’ll protect you from those pesky bunnies kon.” |

Runelle giggled when Tyzal freaked out. She would have supposed that "Not at all. The families who could have initiated these contests usually had active stakes, even when using proxies." Runelle reported "Plus, you do realize my motivation is my own amusement, do you not? Do you still have board games on your homeworld? It is not improper for the owner of a board game to participate in it themselves, is it not? Rest assured that I am not expecting either myself or the Galactic Fox Empire to gain any advantages past my abilities as a participation." Bending the rules and politicking would be reserved for the Witch's Senate, where she'd show everyone the superiority of House Aeisona. "Understood with obedience and clarity, admiral." she told the admiral, when told that she would take orders. She had expected she would take commands; after all, she recognized this was an admirality. It was a characteristic she knew about the Geisinan military, and it was their equivalent of 'sir yes sir'. When she believed it was her turn, she stepped forward with a salute "Your admirality, for sake of completion, most of my spells rely on non-elemental magic. While not directly relevant, the fact my spells consist of a magicaly generated sword and a sphere of magic that can be thrown, I do have a level of experience with short-range and long-range combat." she started. "Additionally, I have learned through study a variant of technopathy that is prurient to magical devices, should either civilization utilize them. The armor on me at the present is crysteel-based Aeisona Class Power Armor, which is self-repairing, and grants me strength, speed, and agility equal to two and a half times normal human parameters. Finally, it should be noted that I am composed of solidified magic rather than matter, though I still have psychological dependencies corresponding to typical human intake needs." She believed that a more through explanation of her abilities would be the most tactically useful. Edited by Tzauri, Mar 1 2014, 10:50 PM.

''Yes ma'am!'' Emilio complied with respect and courtesy to his now commanding officer's order and headed to the door behind her. He took a final glance over to the other participants before resuming onward. To his surprise, he was greeted by the person who motivated him to join in the first place ''The pleasure's all mine, Tina. Glad to see you're doing great.'' It was rather nice when there was one person on the group you already knew. It was pretty obvious from his tone of voice too since it was far more relaxed and his body language showed it too as his shoulders loosened. Of course, he acted proper enough, they weren't exact friends yet, but he was at least hoping for that outcome at least. He also followed Tina's instructions as she listed them. He wasn't exactly sure as to what the 'tofu materia' even was, but it was tofu, no way it could be deadly. What he didn't expect was all the tofu basically splashing itself all over him as if it almost exploded. After an awkward second or so Tina began molding the tofu to become part of an all familiar suit. Well, at least it was done and over with. That reminded him ''So Tina. Will I be teaming up with you again on our next mission? Oh wait, where the hell's my tact? Have you been doing well since you arrived on Earth? Seen any interesting sights?'' As a foreigner himself to Japan, he wanted to know if Tina herself had seen any of the closeby locales or eaten any of the food this place had to offer. He was sure she'd probably like the fish-shaped takoyaki from some of the stalls near the shrine during the spring festival. If she still hadn't Emilio only thought it courteous that after he helped end this war, he would show her around. |

Xie's eyes shot up from his hand as the vixen replied. The boy snapped his fingers deftly, raising a queer eyebrow as the fox called him a "youngling". Sure, he wasn't that long-lived, but to make assumptions based on something as unreliable as age was just petty. Sadly, Xie was also a petty individual. . "I intend to, crone." So petty. In any case, as the other fox-person introduced herself, Xie let out a short breath. So, he'll have to be taking orders after all; and here he thought the position of foreign volunteer would allow him some leeway in the chain of command. Not to mention, Xie had no idea what to refer to these individuals as, aside from fox-people or GFE personnel. Well, no matter, if this is what it took to get into space, Xie could contend with it. Seeing Runelle go full out militaristic, a scoff echoed from Xie's general direction. ... this guy wouldn't belong in any sort of organized outfit. "Begrudgingly," Xie confirmed when Katina asked whether or not they would follow orders. Despite agreeing, it was plenty clear that Xie still intended to be as difficult as possible. When it came his time to state his capabilities, Xie crossed his arm, giving himself but a moment to string his thoughts. "I'm an expert in alchemy, and learned in almost all forms of conventional magecraft. Additionally, each of my hand is capable of discharging a bolt of plasma, capable of puncturing wood and melting flesh." It wasn't a particularly flowery explanation, it would serve to give Katina the relevant information she needed. Though, Xie had neglected to mention his hand's other ability, but that would probably have next to no significance in a space battle based upon technology. "In short, I break things and shoot lightning." Yep, that sums it up quite nicely. |

"I'd be more assured if you didn't seem intent on keeping one of them." Reclaiming some of his control via a deadpan remark at the Admiral's expense, Tyzal otherwise remained silent as she went through what was likely the regular sort of drumroll for the naval officer. Indeed, even for him, there just seemed to be some uncanny parallels to what he had previously done with the bunnies, and it did leave him wondering somewhat... "Long story short, she doesn't technically need the suit, but best to provide one so her own thoughts don't cause her trouble." And again he couldn't help but quip, this time with regards to Runelle explaining her... peculiar situation. Tyzal vaguely understood, having a similar state when in his... other form, but his was the result of technology and another alien race's peculiar traits, and not magic as it was with the Geisinian. "I have a... similar, set up. Indeed, I don't believe I'll have need of your armour, unless you intend for this to be a particularly prolonged engagement. My abilities would replace it whilst active, but they do have something of a time limit." Though certainly not part of the deliberate design, Tyzal did note to make sure he accounted for it. ...Though, he wasn't sure he'd be wanting to wear a suit that just exposed so much skin like that... "In addition, how do you exactly plan to reach your battlefield? You fixed your ship since landing here?" The question would also hopefully shine a light on the general capabilities of this Empire, compared to its counterpart... |

Ryou tensed as Katina started circling him, standing up a little straighter. He hoped he didn't look too obviously intimidated by her, but at the same time, he hoped he also looked like he was willing to show her the proper respect. Still, he found himself a little overwhelmed. A nine-tails was inspecting him. A nine-tails was... Wait...was she actually flirting with him? A flush spread over his cheeks as she started purring. This could end very badly. Very badly indeed. It wasn't that Ryou was shy, or that his experience with youkai females of his own kind was limited to Tsuki, who was something of a mother figure, and Katina was pretty. Really pretty. And powerful. He was a kitsune, so it couldn't be that he was awkward around girls. No, not at all. He coughed into his hand to cover up a sigh of relief as Katina walked away, taking a deep breath to steady himself and straightening up. He could do this. He just had to keep his composure and avoid offending her. All while she was flirting with him. No problem, right? Inari, what had he gotten himself into? He cleared his throat as Katina asked him about his abilities. That, at least, was a question he could answer without making a fool of himself. Not thathe ever made a fool of himself, of course. "I can shapeshift, as you've seen," he said. "It...uh...doesn't last very long. And, um, I can use foxfire. To a certain extent. I also have claws, which I can use if I need to, although since we'll be in space, those probably won't be useful, and I--." So much for not making a fool out of himself. He immediately closed his mouth, cutting off his babbling in mid-sentence. What was wrong with him? He was usually more confident than this. It was Katina, wasn't it? "--That's all." he said. |

“Looks like we have an interesting set of abilities… good, good.” Katina nodded in approval as each volunteer described their unique powers to the two space foxes. “ We’ll get started right away then. Kimi, send the data over to Tina kon. The rest of you, follow me.” She gave a casual glance back at Tyzal as she beckoned the squad. “You too arbiter, it’s easier to show you than to answer your question kon.” Meanwhile in the equipment room, Tina gave Emilio a small smile as her ears stood up straight. “It’s quite alright kon. I’ve been busy since we crash-landed here I’m afraid. Most of my time has been devoted to setting up our little base here, either that or running errands for Admiral di Sangro kon. You know, I wo…” The sound of the door leading to the lobby sliding open cut Tina’s words short as the fox girl stood at attention and gave Katina a sharp salute. “Admiral di Sangro ma’am!” “At ease sergeant. Is everything ready kon?” Tina quickly looked over a nearby console that had been blinking since her conversation with Emilio. “Affirmative kon. Captain Kimi’s data has been received and we’re ready to begin ma’am.” “Good, proceed.” One by one Tina guided the volunteers through the same process of tofu-suit construction the same way she did with Emilio. Starting with Xie, the alchemist got a fairly standard suit with retractable gloves that allowed his hands easy access to his abilities. Runelle was a bit tricky, seeing how the tofu materia had to interface with the Geisinan’s power armour. In the end the tofu materia added an extra light-weight layer of plating and a life-support system for space use. As for Ryou… “Allow me~” Katina took over when it came to shaping the youkai’s suit, taking extra care with shaping it to fit his needs. “You’d be surprised at how useful claws can be in space kon. Not our natural claws perhaps, but…” She took Ryou’s hand in hers and pressed down on his palm, causing the fingers of his glove to sharpen into dangerous looking claws. “You’ll find that these will serve just fine~” The space fox admiral stepped away and returned her attention to the others of their little group. “I trust that each of you will use your powers to the best of your capabilities, however there is one thing that I must remind you. You cannot inflict fatal wounds on our enemies kon.” A look of displeasure crossed her face as she said this. “Personally I wouldn’t mind some roasted bunnies for dinner, but thanks to some treaty we signed long ago that is out of the question.” She pointedly looked at Xie as she said this, flesh-melting plasma sounded very dangerous indeed. “Follow me and I’ll take you to the hangar kon.” Katina went on to lead everyone through another door and into the hangar. Only the space foxes knew how they were able to build this in the short amount of time they had, let alone the trio of sleek but rather small ships docked there. “Sergeant Tina will take you to our fleet in one of these ships, there you will be issued weapons and briefed on your first assignment.” Before Tyzal could raise any issues with the presence of a foxian fleet the admiral shot him a look. “Don’t worry arbiter. The fleet is in another sector far away from Earth kon. Now if there are any questions this is your last chance before we ship you off-world, so speak up!” |

"Oh, fucking god. No." The first strings of word that escaped Xie's mouth as he followed the two space foxes into the equipment room weren't exactly the prettiest or most worthy of first impressions. Inside was Emilio, one of the students that Xie could actually recognize. And some other space-fox. A mild curiosity arose upon the genealogy and sexual distribution of these people, but was then quickly subverted what happened next. Though the opportunity to see first hand the depths of space and alien technology was too irresistible to refuse, whatever the Alchemist had seen was enough to immediately turn his thoughts upon their heads. Food stuffs armor. And not just that, it was tofu. At least mochi was more or less odorless. Tofu, on the other hand, can be quite flavorful. In all honesty, the alchemist would rather be drenched in guts and blood than food. And, after having experienced both, he stood by that claim. As the sentient tofu began wrapping around him, Xie fought the urge to use his alchemy and rip the slimy soy food off of himself. Well, at least they left an opening for his hands. God, how he hated suits. It made him look like some kind of conscripted brute. What Katina said next dumbfounded Xie though. No killing shots. No fatalities. "What the heck?" How was a war supposed to be fought with no coincidence... Though Xie, despite what others may think, wasn't a ruthless murderer. In fact, the young man hadn't even been in a non-supervised scuffle before. Thus, Katina's pointed glance was very uncalled for. Maybe. Perhaps. "Don't look at me like that, I'm not a maniac." It didn't took a genius to figure out what Katina was implying. You know what, he wasn't even going to bother anymore. Space, yes, that beautiful and majestic place beyond the grips of the Earth's atmosphere. The alchemist will focus his thoughts on that. "Wait!" Xie suddenly broke out of his stupor, as Katina finished out her orientation. "Far away? How far is that?! Can we still be able to see our planet? Our moon?" If it was too far from their globe, the boy's purpose here would be validly mute. And, judging from the boy's line of questioning, might've been non too ambitious, at least compared to his usual antics. In fact, a number of countries had already achieved this feat, nearly a century ago. |

It took a bit of ingenuity, but they managed to cover her with tofu-based armor, and paired it with her own Geisinan Crysteel armor. They even manage to do it without adding much weight to boot! She giggled at Xie's protests; they were quite humorous. "I suppose that perhaps any tactical briefing would be during the fight. As Archmage Caviti L'kars once said: a battle fought without tactics is a battle one has no right to win." She thought for a moment, and blushed slightly "I confess it sounded far more eloquent in my native tongue." She supposed that being eloquent with her old nations sayings, no matter how poetic they were, was difficult when you had the pendant equivalent of a universal translator on you. "But regardless, it would do to at least know the layout of the area." she told her. Given that she was from a militant empire, she'd been given some tactical training as part of her education. She couldn't be called an expert on it by any means; even a low ranking commissioned officer, and probably many NCOs, had more training an experience than her. Still, it helped to ask. |
