APPEARANCE
Posted Image
The first two things someone would notice about Saori would be her size and her hair. She possesses a rather long hairstyle, the golden hue of hair reaching down to an area just below her waist. Depending on who she might have met or if someone had helped her that day, it might be well-brushed or a bit messy, most of the time leaning on the latter. Her eyes share the same color as her hair too, and she often walks around with an almost expressionless stare on her face, shifting it whenever she reacts by smiling, frowning or just tilting her head in confusion. As for her body in general, the girl is really thin and short, possessing little to no fat on her body which almost drives her down to being underweight. Couple this with her height, and one could easily suspect her to be about ten years of age. This is all because of her bad eating habits, as she eats when she desires it the most, often neglecting those needs until they become urgent. As for her style in clothing, anything goes for her. She prefers wearing baggy types though, but something like a dress or a skirt and shirt combo is nothing bad either. Often times, one can see dirt on her sleeves, the girl carelessly wiping her face or nose on it without any care for how it might look. On her right sleeve, she usually hangs the stand-by form of her magical device, in the shape of a purple amaryllis.

POWERS & ABILITIES

An Alchemist's Tongue
Saori is an extremely talented alchemist, having expressed her magical powers naturally from a very young age. The first form this was expressed through was her ability to taste things. Not like sour or sweet flavors, but rather, taste a material to gain information about it. Of course, she can't lick a human or anything organic to get information about it. Things like a watch or a phone or something as broad as a wall or a support pillar. She can lick those and both sense what substance it is made of and if it's durable. If she really focuses, she can perhaps find a weak spot to them, such as an easy area to break through or smash open, given a person with the ability to do so would be present. Of course, there are limitations to this ability. She can't lick anything harmful, like a warm piece of metal or something coated in a poisonous substance. She's not immune to those kinds of things. She also can't identify anything alien or brand new, such as a new piece of metal from another planet or something ancient and rediscovered. She can't label it and as such, she doesn't know what to use it for regarding her crafts.

The Tome of the Purple Amaryllis

Posted Image

The Tome of the Purple Amaryllis is a magical device that Saori possesses that acts as the main key for her to utilize her magic. Usually kept in a small form, a keychain with the appearance of a purple amaryllis, the real shape of it is a large book with purple covers and a golden cross imprinted on each side. Upon focus, it turns into its real form, as the young girl would hold it in front of her. Unlike your traditional book where you have to search pages to gain information about something, this acts as a medium. The pages flip on their own and the information is stored automatically as Saori desires, turning item into both a library and a controller for her alchemist abilities. It's pretty much a mental link between the girl and the book, as it simply acts as a medium and not a notepad. Listed below are the powers granted by the tome, given it's a medium for Saori's magical capabilities.

The Tome's Library
The Library is what most people would suspect upon hearing it. It's a collection of information regarding Alchemy and Crafting, specifically aimed at the kind of crafts Saori use on a daily basis. By holding the book with their hands and focusing their mind, the user can flip through the information in it and find what they seek by connecting their mind to it. Luckily for Saori, tons of information have already been entered into the device, all of it originating from the previous owners. This information covers all the basics of what Saori can do and tons of recipes she can utilize with the other abilities The Tome grants her. It also possesses the ability to store information related to Saori's powers. For instance, she can design a detailed figurine made of wood inside her mind, complete with a facial expression and unique hairstyle, and then enter it into the book. Whenever she desires, she can focus in on her figurine and create it when she has the proper materials nearby, the pages flipping automatically while doing so. Other than recipes, it also possesses the basic information on how to extract certain substances from scrap and merge them together, the ability to repair an item given she has the same material around to do so, and even use two or more substances to create a more detailed object. However, due to the absence of an owner during the last hundred years, the book possesses no information on things like electronics, firearms or bombs. As such, if Saori wanted to add it, she would have to learn about it through studies and practice, which would be very difficult considering her personality.

The Tome's Magical Circles

Posted Image

Saori's circles, looking more like a triangle because of its shape, are bright and purple shapes she conjures up in order to use her magical skills. Two are formed every time she uses them, one set under her body on the floor in a very small size and a slightly larger one in front of her which changes size depending on what item Saori is going to strip down or create, the maximum size being around 5 feet from the top to the bottom. The two circles also spin, thus coining the term Magical Circles. What she can do with the large one is simple. Any item or items that she has identified can be stripped down into their base form, being merged together into a liquid state and then reformed into a solid one, usually in the form of balls. She can also take these balls or scrap or any other kind of substance and turn into something new from one of the recipes in her book. This all ranges from clothes, figures, knives, baseball bats, jars, bags or anything she can think of that wouldn't have a complex design (such as a gun or a catapult) or rely on chemicals and accurate wiring (bombs and electronics). This is because either the book or her brain has to know the exact details on how to make these sort of things. She can repair things of that nature on a surface level though. The shell on a broken phone or a minor detail that broke off. She can also repair things in general, like weapons and armor or minor items that break around her, given she has the materials needed to do so.

PERSONALITY
Yagami Saori has no skills worth mentioning besides her talents in the art of Alchemy. Her logic, her social skills and her survival skills are little to none, and being in a conversation with her is rather difficult if you lack the patience for it. She operates within her own set of logic, ignoring social customs and striking up odd questions and statements that come to mind, without giving them much thought as if to what they mean. Easy to misunderstand and easy to get annoyed at. It's not just her words that work that way. Her actions, such as poking, patting, licking and pushing someone can all work at complete random, all based on impulses.

Another important thing to say about her is her lack of understanding to certain concepts or things that are common to someone with a normal upbringing. Concepts such as caring for others or herself, love, hatred, relationships or anything complicated at all. Not just concepts, but topics in general for that matter, like politics or why the weather works the way it does.

Saori has little interests and things she likes and dislikes, being pretty open about everything she encounters and finds during the day. She takes a little interest in them though, don't get me wrong. She's always curious about things she doesn't understand or are just completely new to her. So if something appears, like an event at an open arcade or maybe an eat-off at a local restaurant, she'll participate if she's curious enough about it. Why? Why not! It's there, so she might as well do it. As for her fears, it's hard to explain. She dislikes darker settings in general, and if she's caught in a room with little to no light, she'll panic, even going as far as to scream. Some types of animals cause fear too, but this is all determined on both size and appearance. Compare two different breed of dogs. Both of them are large, but one might look a bit friendlier than the other one.

Her survival skills, as mentioned, are little to none. She knows how to eat, but not properly. She chews with her mouth open and often makes a mess, wiping it on her jacket at times and acting as if dirt doesn't matter to her. She often lives on junk food, buying it at a store or a restaurant, and only eats when she feels hungry enough for it, meaning she often goes for a full day before she decides to eat during the evening or night. Showering and bathing is also simple, simply pouring warm water on her with soap without any care for her skin or hair, often leaving it unbrushed. Her hygiene isn't awful though, and she never stinks. She just doesn't go that extra mile to care, which is apparent when you take a look at her hair or messy clothing.

HISTORY
Yagami Saori is a descendant of a powerful magician from the medieval eras. The Ancestor was known as Yuri Eberwein, an alchemist-type sorceress with the ability to transform items into new ones and level the battle field with powerful spells. She could turn the very ground in front of her into a powerful weapon, being able to supply her small group of fighters at all time. She could even conjure up magic circles to send powerful shards flying at her opponent. With another circle, she could make cold water boil, sending the steaming liquid at her foes. She even possessed the ability to repair broken items and buildings. This was all thanks to her magical device, a book she had invented that acted as the medium for all her powers. The Tome of the Purple Amaryllis. This book was bound to her and anyone that shared her blood along with the necessary mana and talent to use these abilities. After her fighting subsided and she grew older, she passed the tome on to one of her children, allowing them to practice the same art she once did in her youth. The book itself possessed the ability to share and record information with its user, so the book itself could be passed through generations.

Along the way, the Eberwein name would change again and again, as the book seemingly traveled through time from one mage to another. No one possessed the talent Yuri had though, so the book was mostly used as either a basic tool for alchemy or a legend, due to some lacking the mana or talent needed to activate it. The last user of the tome lived about a hundred years ago, and since then, it ended up in the Yagami family's hands. Unable to be activated by them. All they saw was a small flower pendant, the shape of an amaryllis in a beautiful purple hue, now passed on as a beautiful heirloom, rather than a magical device. That all changed once Saori got her hands on it.

Saori was an odd girl. She was born with a personality disorder that caused her to behave in a rather awkward manner. She enjoyed tasting things for instance, for no other reason than to taste it. Be it food, drinks, the table or a cellphone, her tongue would poke against it at complete random. This is how she discovered her ability to identify things. By poking her tongue up, she knew what it was made of. She could even sense if something was weak, as demonstrated when she managed to snap a bamboo sword in half because of its faulty design.

From an early age, she had to move out of her parents' house and in with her aunt. Her mother and father were actually in a fight with each other, and it got to the point where Saori was in danger because of it. They loved their daughter, sure. But her behavior, coupled with the pair's own issues, left them both frustrated and angry with each other. None of them knew how to take care of the girl and her weird habits and their reactions kept making things worse, Saori curling up into a small ball and hiding away whenever they came over to visit her.

Although, living with her aunt was not a bad thing either. The female owned a large manor on the countryside where the girl permanently moved in. She found it to be an interesting place, as all of the family's history and belongings had been collected within those four walls. One of these items were a small and beautiful flower, crafted out of metal in a purple hue. Once Saori got her hands on the flower, it let out a strange glow. The area underneath her got a strange marking that spun around. The flower itself would float up, towards the girl as she stepped back in surprise. The circle on the floor followed her, as the flower itself changed shape. It became a book, a bit large compared to the 8 year old Saori, but nevertheless, it pushed itself into her chest. The girl wrapped her arms around it and the tome's basic information would pour into her head, things like how to control it, her own powers, her mana, her talent and the name of it. All of the basics. Nothing was said about the previous owners, not even Yuri Eberwein.

The next few years in Saori's life were completely dedicated to her newly found talent. She tried things out, like making a sword out of stone or changing the shape of an everyday item. Every day was pretty much centered around it, and her aunt didn't know how to handle it. She left her alone, of course, that was the only thing she could do, feeding the girl and helping her with the things she can't do from time to time. But those efforts seemed wasted. She couldn't connect to Saori, and that was probably what the parents felt too. Unlike them though, the aunt was much more relaxed in her reactions, and that's why Saori never feared her.

At the age of 11, another major event would occur in Saori's life. Her mother and father died, ending up in a car crash due to the father keeping his eyes off the road. While it sounds horrible, losing your parents at the age of 11, the young girl didn't display many emotions to it. By this point, her feelings towards her parents were all related to fear. She never thought about them much before and she had less reason to do so now. The aunt was shocked at this, but at the same time, who can blame her? A young girl being unfazed by her parents' death, showing little to no emotion about it as she selfishly continued her new talent? It made her a bit disgusted, and as a result, even she would try to separate herself from Saori.

As such, when the girl reached the age of 14, the Aunt sent her off to a school she read about online. A place where she could practice her beloved skills alone, because that's all she ever did. Stay alone. She was never given a chance to express herself, because no one wanted to approach her at this point. That year, Yagami Saori started as a first-year student at Hyakuji High. She moved into one of the dorms, living in a room by herself, and moved about in her own routine, mixing school and her random impulses in with her magical training. Perhaps she'd make some friends, if she only knew how.
