Lenny was surprised by Ricard's desire to move to action. Lenny had supposed most people would only want to deal with the symptoms, the beasts that appear every now and then. Either Ricard was wise, or glory seeking, since he desired to strike at the heart of the issue. Lenny believed Ricard could do it, he seemed a decent enough fighter and had the magic that was all too necessary for dealing with some of the more troublesome beasts. But the mention of honor put Lenny off, he sounded too much like a night. Maybe it was glory motivating him, and while Lenny was content to let him have his quest he didn’t want the knight errant to mess up his hunting grounds. Lenny considered the inner parts of Hyakuji woods his. That’s where his haemonculi lived and where he personally hunted and researched the beasts of the deep wood. A brave soul with a sword could mess with that. He followed the logic to its logical conclusion in his head and he didn’t like the end result. “No, no trouble. Beyond the twisting paths of the forest walking you in circles, and the dens of dark things that best be left alone . . . and the sleeping circles where dreaming gods sleep . . . and the fairy dens where spirits play tricks on men . . . and the fact you might accidently get yourself cursed; you should be fine with that blade of yours” He stated with a bit of a sarcastic tone that sounded concerned and lacked that deep biting that such a reassurance should carry. He blew things out of proportion of course, but the scrolls he had found in the alchemists’ lab a time ago had given him the knowledge to know that most of those things did exist. “The only thing I suggest, is that you take me along if you ever decide to investigate. I mean field research is really the best. And this daemon robbed me of the satisfaction of studying its remain. I’ll be your guide, I and my beasts know this forest well, we can keep you out of harm on your quest” He needed to come along, the chance to research was too tempting and the threat of an errant in the woods was too great. |

"You do make a reasonable argument." Ricard stated as he glanced towards the boy, he seemed to be pretty adamant on him not going alone. Frankly speaking Ricard could use all the help he could get but the more he thought about it the more he wasn't sure if he trusted the person in front of him. Unfortunately he did make a good point about the dangers in Hyakuji's forest, he could use the help if he was going to inevitable get to the bottom of this. "Well, who am I to dismiss a willing and knowledgeable guide." Ricard smiled towards the boy. At the very least this allowed Ricard to keep his eyes on the boy as well as whatever was causing all the creatures to enter Hyakuji. Ricard glanced towards the setting sun, it would be an extremely stupid thing to go there right now. He'd have to face a very powerful opponent and doing that in the dark was a very bad idea. "I'd suggest we leave this for now though, lest we end up fighting whatever managed to scare that creature in the darkness." He waited for the boy's answer, surely the boy in front of him would see the tactical advantage in being able to see his opponent. |

As Ricard agreed to the advice Lenny was inwardly relieved, he thought he may have laid it on a little too thick. But it was good, Lenny could keep him away from all the dangerous things and all the things he really shouldn’t see, if he ever decided to head back into the woods. “Thank you, if it comes to it I’ll find a path” he replied to the compliment. “And I’m sure your skill at arms will prove invaluable should push come to shove” He seemed sincere. Lenny had become more than aware that his minions had an disadvantage when it came to magical creatures and elementals, Ricard would be reasonably capable of filling that gap. As Ricard noted the falling sun Lenny turned and placed his hand on what approximated his haemonculi’s nose and stared into its eyes for a moment before the beast itself turned to move back into the woods. The quick footsteps of the other haemonculi would follow suit. “If this is what’s out during the day I don’t really want to see what’s hunting during the night” he said, agreeing to Ricard. He suddenly looked as if he remembered something. He reached into his pocket a scrabbled down something on a piece of paper from his pocket using a pen from inside his jacket. He handed it to Ricard, it was his phone number. “It’ll be difficult to find me any other way” Lenny was interested in Ricard. He seemed oddly moved to action, willing to strike at the roots of things. In addition he was a fellow phylactery user, something that naturally attracted Lenny to him, after all that sword of his was somewhat mystical, if Lenny could find a way to replicate the soul binding he could begin imbuing his own phylacteries with magic as well. “Hopefully our paths will cross again in a situation without strife” |

Ricard took the piece of paper with the boy's phone number on it. "I hope so as well." Ricard returned the farewell with equal respect. "When I plan to seek whatever is behind this I'll contact you." He wasn't sure what to make of the boy, the creatures he had with him were surely not normal but they hadn't done anything wrong yet. There was no reason for him to do anything against them or the boy himself as of yet. Granted though that could change in next to no time at all but as of the current point in time there was no reason to attack them. The oncoming darkness of night reminded him that he would have to start leaving soon. "Once again, I thank you for the assistance against the creature." He bowed politely before he began to walk off. The situations of the day had gotten his mind running, was he walking into something much bigger then him. Even if he was he did have a duty to try and stop whatever was causing the creatures that could very well hurt innocents to wonder into the town. |
