The sound of a rough and dirtied wheel grinding against the ground hummed beneath the boy's feet, as an all too tranquil wind blew into his face. It had been a fair amount of time since they had arrived at the supposed park; however, with anything but action and fights. It just looked like a park. With a fountain. And some trees. Maybe a rock or two. Whatever that was in this park seemed to be cursed with an eternal affliction of "boring". Letting the momentum and force of his skateboard glide him through the small path of the park, Youhei stared lazily onto his surroundings with little anticipation. "Ugh...I still want to check out the town you know," The boy's schedule of familiarizing himself with thwarted, with what he thought would be an exciting quest. "This guy is really taking his time, huh?" He swerved on the hind of his skateboard at a leisurely pace. "At this rate, I'll never level up..." To be honest, despite not being a violent person, he wasn't exactly the most serene either. As he said that, the boy looked upwards into the sky, the silhouette of a certain magician along the sun's horizon. "Yo," Youhei approached the converging team casually, raising a hand lazily in recognition. As Izumi descended upon them with even less energy than him, he knew even he could come up with nothing. And needless to say, Fox-boy's frowning and furrowed brows already told him the whole story. Honestly, these guys were pretty simple. Well, not like he wasn't. With a weary eye staring back at Ryou, he shook his head slowly, with a hint of disapproval. "Unless this guy is a tree or rock, I don't think he's here yet," The boy flipped his skateboard from the bottom of his feet and then into the air for a brief moment, before catching it by the side. Leaning on one foot, Youhei shrugged towards them both, giving them a fully dubious and questionable look. "Maybe he got bored and just went home," With a sigh, Youhei sat down on the ground cross-legged in a thud, a bit of dust flying up as he did so. "So much for this..." With a small pout, he let his back fall onto the ground, resting as he stretched out his limbs in all directions. |

Izumi was definitely not going to spot what they were looking for all the way up in the sky. Placed on the side of the fountain was a familiar looking letter. Needless to say, it was the very same letter that was left at the restaurant. Ryou would find that strangely neither of the letters had any scent whatsoever to pick up on. No scent of a person, at any rate, so the group would have to rely on their sight to actually find the letter. Whoever picked the letter up would realise it was heavier than the last. Inside the letter was the familiar calling card with a B written on with a letter, along with three smaller envelopes.
If the Bracers were to look at the three other letters, they would find that each letter had one of their names on.

Ryou picked up the letter as he saw it, testing its weight. Was it just his imagination, or did it seem to be...heavier? He raised it to his nose again, inhaling deeply, but just as before, there was no scent. The letter smelled like the place it had been left in, but as far as he could tell, it had just appeared there. It looked like the phantom thief had had that covered as well. In spite of himself, the kitsune was impressed. He'd have to learn the thief's secrets With a frown, Ryou extended one clawed finger, running his claw along the edge of the letter and opening up the envelope. He read the first card, then shook the envelope out into his hands, picking up the three smaller ones. He thought about reading them all, but at the moment the clues were the only link they had to the thief. If he was watching somehow and saw them breaking the rules of his game, nothing would stop him from calling the whole thing off. So instead, he picked out the letter addressed to him, handing Izumi and Youhei their own. The key you seek is located in the present made past, At the feet of giants who once ruled the world. The feet of giants. Present made past. The steps at the shrine? He searched his mind, trying to think up something that matched better, but he couldn't think of anything. He knew that the shrine steps were sometimes called the Giant Steps. It was as good enough a place as any. A look at the others told him that they had all had different clues, which meant that they would have to split up. His frown deepened as he glanced at Youhei. He was supposed to be watching him, but he supposed it couldn't be helped. "I guess we should split up," he said. "Let's meet back here when we finish." If the others agreed, Ryou would be off towards the shrine. |

Youhei suddenly jumped upwards from the ground, shooting up in anticipation as Ryou grasped the small mysterious envelope. Then, he started to sniff it. "Oi, Ryou," the boy gave him a curious look, pointing a weak finger towards the letter and then to him. "Does it really smell that good?" For a moment, he was actually tempted to do so as well - until he saw the famous frown of the fox-boy, which usually meant he was either deep in thought, or something was amiss. Either way, Youhei found that face to be pretty amusing to stare at. Then, as Ryou retrieved himself from reading the larger of the letter, several other letters fell into a small pile onto his open palm - a total of three. Instinctively, he snatched the one with his name on it, of course.
"Another step ahead," Youhei's smile only grew and grew as he read his respective letter. "So, this turned into some kind of game, huh?" Needless to say, he was totally the one to love these kinds of things. But... For Youhei, there seemed to be only one problem. A problem that even he couldn't simply brave through. I don't know where anything is... A cloud of depression floated over his head, completely raining on his parade. Even if the riddle was easy, the issue was actually finding the place. He took a peek at both Izumi and Ryou from his letter suspiciously, before breaking out in a cheesy smile. "So...." The boy inched closer to Izumi in particular. He seemed far more amiable than that guy over there. Besides, Ryou looked grumpy, and was already set on his way with a scary looking air in his eyes. "What kind of riddle did you get?" He couldn't escape his own curiosity, even though the letter specifically told them not to. However, considering the unknown consequences for doing so, the boy was sure to receive anything but an answer. "Well, better get started," Youhei folded his letter and shoved it into his pockets, and then stretching out his arms into the sky. One look at Ryou told him that he already knew where his target was. And needless to say, Izumi wouldn't have any problem at all with his flying broom. That left only...him. He couldn't and wouldn't finish out of the last of them though. Again, he felt that scrutinizing gaze of the fox-boy, which the boy returned with a shake of the head. "Whoever's last is gonna buy dinner for the rest of us!" Youhei declared his challenge to the other two guys, before flipping his skateboard onto the ground, resting a flat sole on it's body as he stood. Now that the stakes were established, there was only one more thing to do. "Mission start!" |

...Well if he had been looking around at ground-level he probably would've found the letters first before the other two! Dammit fox boy, getting all of the recognition, the Ordinary Magician huffed mentally to himself as he snatched the letter off the fox boy's hand. Right, what's actually in here... The key you seek can be found on the hill of the Gods, Within the bell that rings for the Gods. ...Oh come on, a clue from a Phantom Thief can't be this obvious can it?! But isn't it supposed to just be a eat-and-dash guy and not an actual renown Phantom Thief...? ...Still, what other place could this clue really lead to other than the shrine? He could think of no other place that could be related to gods other than that shrine. ...Well maybe there's that abandoned church, but... there's no working bell there, are there...? ...Actually he's now doubting himself... crap. "...Er. I think I'll just... follow you though..." The Ordinary Magician said tentatively as he let the broom hover close to the kitsune, since he himself was being unsure on where to actually go. |

The group would be left to their own devices, with no further clues to be found in the park. They would all only realise whether or not their answers were right or wrong once they set off for where they believed their key to be found. [I would have assumed everyone already arrived at their location, but I have no idea where Youhei went, so if everyone could post themselves arriving at their location, and picking a place to look, I will post whether or not they were right. Also, no need to make a separate topic, just post here to keep it easy for me to keep track of.] Edited by Mayu Akabane, Feb 16 2014, 03:00 AM.

Location: Giant Step, Hyakuji Shrine Ryou arrived at the foot of the shrine steps, his hands in his pockets as he craned his neck to take in the whole view. It would be a large and painstaking area to search, but Ryou hoped that the thief had been a little literal with his clue. He'd said that the key was at the foot of giants that once ruled the world. So if anything, a good place to start would be at the foot of the steps. With that in mind, Ryou carefully combed the lower steps of the shrine, looking for any clues. He didn't intend to let anything slip through his fingers this time. |

Location: Somewhere in Hyakuji. "Ah, thanks!" The voice of a certain vigor filled youth replied in gratitude, a hand waving as the boy and unidentified old man parted ways. It had been a fair amount of time as they were all left to their own devices, and part of him now regretted making that challenge, even if just slightly. "Those two aren't bad though," Youhei tilted his head upwards, not even needing to see the path of his direction. The image of the Bracer Guild, Ryou and Izumi surfaced in his mind. "What do these "Bracer" guys do anyways?" He totally didn't pay attention to the description. A tremor shook the sides of his bowels violently. "Alright, let's finish this before dinner," Reading the signs along the road and about, the boy more or less wandered in the general direction of his destination. Dropping his skateboard on the ground once again, Youhei breezed through streets and corners in no particular urgency, squinting his eyes slightly as he began riding upwards, onto a humble hill. The sun peeked over the zenith of the curved road, obscuring his views of the world on the other side of the turn. He did not know what laid behind that shining light, but for some reason or another, he wasn't afraid of it at all. "This has got to be it," Youhei stopped in his tracks, the wheels under the board grinding to a slow halt. Hyakuji High School stood gallantly in front of him, both a proud and humble existence. He had never seen the thing before, despite all of the time he had spent running around the town already. The sight amazed him, to a certain extent. Adjusting the backpack on his shoulders onto the other, the boy took one step for all of humanity. And then. Bars. The gate. "What am I supposed to do about this thing?" Youhei poked it incessantly for a moment, dumbfounded by exactly what he was looking for. The letter only told him where to go, but not what to do, after all. Well, there was only one thing for him to do now. Loiter around and hope something happens, or something pops up. And thus, Youhei sauntered around with a skateboard in his hands, giving the most displeased and unamused faces ever to no one in particular. He totally looked like a suspicious punk right now. |

So unlike the others Izumi actually has no idea where he wanted to go, and just ended up tailing the kitsune wherever he went. Though he wasn't expecting to linger around combing every inch of the bottom of the stone staircase leading up to the shrine for a tiny little piece of clue. "Isn't there a much better way to get to searching...?" He added, lounging lazily on his floating broom while watching the kitsune do all the hard work. Guh, this is going to take so much longer than he really wanted to bother with... The Ordinary Magician yawned widely as he let the broom hover up the staircase and up to the shrine, leaving Ryou there to his own device. While he himself doesn't go to the shrine much if at all, he at least knows there should be a really huge bell they would ring every new year. He's really only read it in books though, so he's not sure if- Oh there is one. Yay. Luckily for him the clue in his card is actually pretty straightforward. Bell, he's seeing bell, there has to be a clue in that bell, yes? "Huehue, let's see if my genius rings true~" He muttered mischievously to himself, hopping off his broom and quickly made his way towards the bell. It should be inside it... so he ducked and went under the bell, straightened up to get a look arou- GAAAANG!!! "OW!!!" The bell shook and rang loudly as he hit his head hard on it from inside. ...How hard did he have to hit the bell with his head to get it to ring so loudly, don't ask. |

All of the three Bracers, after a moment of looking, would find that a letter had been left for each of them. Ryou would find his simply left on the stair, as if someone had dropped it there on the way to or from the shrine. Youhei would find his stuck in between the bars of the school gate, positioned in a way that it was simply to take, but impossible for the wind to blow it down. Finally, Izumi would find the letter drop down from the bell as he carelessly hit his head on it...
Unfortunately for Ryou, it looked as if he had the wrong location, although, it looked as if the phantom thief was still willing to let the game continue. Izumi and Youhei, on the other hand, would find their letters had similar content.
Ryou probably isn't going to be happy... At least Izumi was there so he could tag along with Izumi. |

Ack- owowow... That was... okay he should've been a bit smarter about it... Really though, the bell looked really huge from the outside, he thought he'd be able to stand at full height inside it... Turns out not. Also there's a letter dropped. Which he would have been delighted about if it wasn't for the fact that his head is stinging like hell now... The Ordinary Magician carefully bent down to grab the letter, slipping under the edge of the bell and out, before he was quick to scamper away from the shrine. Look, the shrine maidens are probably going to come out and search the bells in alarm, and much as he likes to meet up with fine maidens he really doesn't want to get on their bad ends. "Ryoooooooouuuuuuuuuuu!" The Ordinary Magician yelled out to Ryou who should still be at the bottom of the stairs, waving the unopened envelope in his hand. "I found a cluuueee. Oh you found one too, awesome!" Little did he know that comment would probably just make Ryou even more angry. |

What was this? Something caught his eye, a subtle, strangely pristine white flickered at the edge of his vision. Only after a few moments did he realize it to be identical to the letter before - cleverly tucked between the bars of the gate, seemingly impervious to the tugging of the wind. Already, Youhei got a bad vibe from the thing, and at first, hesitated slightly in touching it's smooth surface. Was he too late once again?
His eyes glided over the neatly printed letters swiftly, eager and anxious to actually get some action. "Are you serious?" As he breezed through the contents of the envelope, the paper crumpled and crushed itself under the clenching of his fists, his shoulders shaking with what seemed like an unbridled fury. "Not more puzzles!" As the white of his eyes showed, and his teeth turning into a sharp chompers, the boy shouted into the sky, half hoping the thief would just decide to pop up and let himself be captured. And obviously, that didn't happen either. Quite evidently there was a limit to how annoying someone could be, even for a guy like Youhei. "I hate mystery mangas..." Heaving a sigh, Youhei gave the gate of the school one last kick, before turning about, staring down the hill he had went up prior. "Why couldn't he be a phantom warrior or something?" It wasn't as if he was tired, but his appetite was really starting to get the better of him. "At least I got it right, I guess," He shoved the disheveled paper into his pockets, along with the first. "That means someone owes me dinner," Kicking out his legs, Youhei began to descend once again, towards the heart of the city, still in good spirits. Although he wasn't particularly sure where to go, Youhei figured he would do what any other logical person would in the same situation. Present made past and the ones who ruled the world. There was clearly only one location where this thing could be. However, once again, the problem was finding it. He would probably end up having to ask a random senior citizen again. Whatever the case, this was going to be a long day. "Once I get my hands on you, you're going to teach me all your tricks," Making a fist with his hands, he pumped it upwards in a declaration of his determination and perseverance. "Alright, I'm ready to find some giant feet!" Did Hyakuji even have a museum? |

Ryou snatched up the letter as soon as he saw it, tearing it open greedily. He let it fall into his hand, opening up to read the next clue. It had to be the next clue, didn't it? Of course it did, because how else would the letter have been here? He had to have been right and--wait, he was wrong?! Ryou's eyes narrowed, and he crumpled up the letter in his hand, looking around. How could he be wrong? Where else could there be a pair of giant feet in this gods-cursed city? And for that matter, if he was wrong, how would the thief have known that he would come here? He had to have been watching him--maybe he still was watching him. Maybe he was here somewhere. He spun around as he heard someone call his name, a ball of fire appearing in his hand as he prepared to attack, but it was only Izumi. He relaxed slightly upon seeing Izumi, his hand closing around the ball of fire he held and extinguishing it. "Oh, it's just you," he said, lowering his hand. He paused, then squinted at Izumi, his eyes narrowing as he picked up on what else the Ordinary Magician had said. "Wait, what do you mean, too?" The letter had said that the others would be given the chance to solve the same riddle. Did that mean that both Izumi and Youhei had gotten theirs correct? Had he failed where the likes of those two had succeeded? Impossible. Was it? |
