Shit. This time, they were almost too late. The three SUVs were wrecked, most of their passengers killed by the initial barrage of throwing knives that had pierced through the bulletproof windows. A well-dressed man in a bloody suit was trying to limp away while two black armoured commando-like bodyguards were firing their M16s at a cloaked figure striding slowly towards them. Their fire was dead on, but the bullets seemed to flatten themselves and fall away harmlessly before they even touched the undead ninja. "Aw, shit." Kell muttered. "Going by the mask's design, that's one of the jōnin." Spoiler: click to toggle "Ready up, ladies. Those two mooks are going to get their asses killed quick." Kell clenched her fists, prepared to do whatever it took to kill their enemy. "CHARGE!" |

Dawn had begun to hear the commotion from quite a distance away and wanted to find out what the hell was going on. It wasn't odd to hear the odd explosion or noise that could be somehow made from the powers of the students sparring each other in good fun but it was rather unusual to hear just standard gun fire. Whenever there was just standard gun fire it meant that something strange was probably up and whatever strange event that it was begged Dawn's attention. As she turned a corner she came across the scene, the three vehicles wrecked and multiple dead bodies. She steadied herself from seeing the corpses on the ground. Whilst she had seen weird creatures before and even talked to someone who was sort of a zombie just seeing dead people was strange for her. However she didn't have time to get used to it as she witnessed two people firing at a cloaked figure. If she didn't know better she might have thought those gunmen were the people who began this but considering that who she assumed were their friends were all dead she thought better. When she observed how ineffective their weapons were against the creepy cloaked man Dawn decided that she should try her best to help, even if she wasn't sure that she could handle whatever this thing was. On the plus side she didn't think the creature noticed her yet which meant she could try to end this before it began. Dawn concentrated for a moment before she picked up a nearby pebble and inserted magic into it causing a small sigil to appear on it. She threw the pebble towards the cloaked figure and as it got really close activated her magic in the hope that the surprise of an explosion coming from a pebble would catch him off guard. |

Were Liz not on somewhat "neutral" terms with Kell, she may not have even join in on this situation. Liz was worried that if something happened to Kell, she may no longer have a willing test subject later on. Liz was not too far behind Kell, watching the scene unfold as Kell charged in to help out. Elizabeth used the moment to activate her stealth camouflage, slowly walking towards the cloaked creature. Moving slowly made the stealth work much better compared to a quicker speed, Liz in no hurry since she believe she could take care of it quite easily. However, the unknown factor was still there since the being was not humanoid, nor could she get any sort of data about what was underneath the cloak. Step by step, Liz made her approach, attempting to be as silent as possible. After a moment, Liz arrived at the target and hoped that it had not noticed her. Using the explosion as a distraction, she'd use the smoke as cover and come in with a heavy right punch that'd easily crush through a brick. Her figure would slightly flicker in the smoke as the stealth camouflage was still active, not needing to decloak since she was so close. |

Naturally, Rikina had accompanied Kell to the slaughter herself. Kell was, after all, the dark elf's BFF. And of course, she'd been anticipating this all the time; Kell should have easily known that, considering that she'd mentioned wanting to impale the necromancer with his own staff. Even if the staff wasn't pointy. Actually, especially if it wasn't pointy. "Kell, I've never heard a zombie scream before. I'm curious." Rikina giggled. Fights were entertaining enough, but they weren't quite the same if her she couldn't see the fear on a foe's face, and listen to their dying screams of terror. Rikina charged the jonin undead, trying to channel her chains of terror, letting out a sound that sounded half way between a giggle and a cackle. Kell would probably know that she was probably hoping for more than she'd get out of the mook. If she got in melee range, she would, of course, strike it with Mercy & Compassion. No, not like she was going for a non-lethal takedown; the daggers had been named before she got them. Edited by Tzauri, Jan 13 2014, 10:14 PM.

But how can mirrors be real if our eyes aren't real?
|
Murder was on the menu, which meant Siv was present. Sometimes, she wondered if she had the blood of a Norse berserker in her veins. The channeler had her sword's sheath hanging from her waist on a blue sash, but the sword itself was in her hand. Whatever opponent they were going to be facing would stand face to face with a whirlwind of steel and pain. She was not alone, though. Feline was wondering how her neighbor had so easily managed to pull her into trouble. Something about an evil trickster who was tricking people into helping him achieve some shady ritual. The kind of situations Feline had been trained to prevent. Once the first target came into sight. A blue glow surrounded Feline. Then the glow shattered like crystal, leaving the busty girl with a huge cannon in her hands and clad in blue-and-white armor... Somehow with an entirely flat chest. "Cover me!" she shouted to Siv as much as anyone else. When she slammed the cannon's back into the ground, the exhausts glowed blue. That was one bullet loaded. Siv, in the mean time, gave her neighbor a nod and charged at the ninja, sword raised. Fast as lightning, she wove the Flame and Void around her mind, clearing herself of useless distractions. Time for a battle. |

The cloaked ninja's hands could be seen drawing knives as it prepared to kill the two faceless commandos in front of him. If not for Dawn's intervention, Kell's group would've been too late to stop him from adding to the body count. The undead assassin grunted slightly as the explosion rocked him, forcing him a single step forwards. In the air, a few spiderweb-like cracks could be seen. He had been protecting himself with a transparent forcefield of some sort, but the young mage's attack had been able to put a dent in it. She shown them the minimal level of power needed to damage the thing. Elizabeth's attack arrived just a few moments later, widening the cracks with a mighty fist that managed to stagger him just a little more. That was all that they would get, though. As fast as the blink of an eye, the ninja suddenly slipped to the side with a cricket-like chirp echoing from his mask. Feline could sense that the zombie had been affected by Rikina's Chains of Terror, forcing him to focus on his own safety over attacking them. His sense of self was shaky from being revived in such a horrible fashion, which made him vulnerable to psychic powers. That said, she could also sense that he was already fighting back against the fear that was in his unbeating heart. In but a few short minutes, he'd be able to start thinking more rationally and even read their movements. To make matters worse, he begun to sidestep with blurring motions as he chanted in a low voice. The damage to his protective barrier was slowly being repaired. He didn't seem like he was capable of attacking while fixing up his shield, but they'd have a hell of a time trying to crack the thing open again if they didn't stop him from continuing to cast his magic. "You there, new girl!" Kell shouted to Dawn. "Good job, but you got to keep him running! If he gets too close, he'll start dicing us or those guys apart!" She motioned to Siv and Elizabeth, signalling to them to work with Dawn to restrain the ninja. She then gestured to the rest of her group to wait for a better opportunity to strike. He might've been running scared, but the ninja was still a formidable fighter. Rikina and Youhei would be shit out of luck in close combat, and Feline was probably the only one here who could tear through the forcefield in a single attack. They needed to wait for all six bullets to be loaded before they could carry out their all-out assault. Kell looked at the commandos, who were keeping their assault rifles pointed at the ninja. They'd be unloading right now if the teens weren't in their line of fire. "How considerate." She said dryly, rolling her eyes as she started to direct traffic again. Alright, so this was going to be a real problem. "If only there were some reinforcements...." Edited by Flambe, Jan 16 2014, 02:55 PM.

Dawn looked towards the cloaked figure in time to see that a force field around him had been cracked from all the blows that had been afflicted on him. She was a bit surprised that there was a force field but considering the place that she was at it really shouldn't of been a surprise. People with powers were commonplace here after all and even this thing wasn't going to be an exception to that rule. Hearing a voice shout Dawn quickly turned and nodded towards the source of the voice. She didn't know what she had gotten into but she was prepared to try and help the group stop whatever the hell this creature was. "Be careful, i'm gonna try and immobilize him." The other girls could potentially make this plan go horribly wrong but Dawn was willing to try this. "Try to avoid the chains otherwise you might end up getting attached to that thing." Dawn began to conjure magical energies throughout her before swinging forth her hands. Out of her hands golden chains flew towards the cloaked figure with the intent to wrap themselves around him or his forcefield then attach him to a nearby surface somewhere in an attempt to restrain him. Dawn then began to concentrate and send magic towards the palm of her hand, white ley lines began to form swirling around her arm ending in the center of her palm. Unfortunately it was taking longer to form her cannon due to the quick succession of multiple magics so she wouldn't be able to fire it off at the figure yet. She hoped that the rest of the others would be able to keep the barrier busy. Edited by Shadies, Jan 16 2014, 09:35 PM.

Elizabeth wasn't exactly pleased with the results, expecting to hit the being and not some sort of forcefield that was protecting it. Nonetheless, she knows her enemies ability than previously, compiling information as the fight continued. Liz stayed in the smoke that remained, continuing to use her stealth camouflage as long as needed. It didn't seem like this being had any sort of technology to make her camouflage moot, deciding it was best to use the element of surprise to full force. Just then, the being moved slightly away from its previous position, Liz tracking its movements as it moved away. She wouldn't have the cover of smoke if she pursued it, deciding to move within the smoke towards the rear end of him. Luckily, Liz was monitoring the the voices of the others, hearing the plan and deciding to hold off on attacking from the rear for now. Noticing it was taking a bit too long, Liz deciding to come in from the rear. She punched into the cement and pulled up a large chunk of material, chucking it at the being and then coming in with another heavy punch. She'd be in its immediate range, attempting to, not only keep it from regenerating its barrier but also knock it out. |

There are no miracles.
|
The blaze of heated combat resonated within the air throughout the suburbs, and although it was almost pitch darkness, anyone from a few blocks away could easily hear the rough tatter of guns being fired. It's sound was akin to the distinct chiming of a cathedral bell in the presence of complete silence - profound, famous and ill hidden. A crackling of flames spew from the flipped or otherwise decommissioned vehicles like blood from a body, the prominent memorials of what had occurred and what was to occur. That haze of crimson was a beacon of light among the pervading darkness, illuminating the night sky in the midst of the surrounding bullets and strife. A worn-out pair of shoes hit the asphalt sloppily, fabric soles almost revealing the feet within. They moved, at times even skipped along the road; perfectly carefree and without any care in the world. Waltzing among the battle riddled war zone. Until they finally stopped in front of a certain injured and sprawled man, opposite from the side of Kell and the others. After all, this was quite an open road. "Hey," The boy's stride stalled for a moment, before his legs squatted downwards, stooping until two fiery red eyes met the gaze of the man. "Hey man," A finger followed the greeting, digging itself into the man's shoulder's lightly, yet still enough to be annoyingly irritating. His voice was strong, unwavering, and could perhaps even provide reassurance to the man. For the time being. "Do you know where this is?" The boy unwrapped a slightly crumpled parchment of paper, and then pointed onto a stark red dot highlighted with the bold letters of "Hyakuji". With an equally roughed backpack slung across his two broad shoulders and a disheveled set of clothes, Youhei gave off an air of a person who hadn't seen a city in a week or two. To be blunt, everything about him reeked of uncivilization. He might've held a particularly strange odor as well. "I've been meaning to get there...eventually," He grinned and chuckled to himself as he took a small step back, seemingly unconscious or simply uncaring of the dire situation around him. Instead of helping the man up, Youhei lifted his head - although he wasn't sure what was happening, his blood was already boiling. Rocks were flying, magic conjured from thin air and punches being delivered. "Is this going to be another detour?" Youhei carved a smile from out of his lips, not exactly blood hungry, but rather, brimming with excitement and anticipation. He shot a look back towards the bleeding man, then to the battle ahead. Then from battle back to the man. He was bleeding. A lot. And he was pretty sure those two extremely unmemorable mooks were probably going to die soon - as dictated by the rule of countless manga. This repeated for a few exchanging moments, before he let out a small sigh of resignation, seemingly defeating the inner dilemma within him. "Though I guess I should help you first, shouldn't I?" Rikina was annoyed her attacks weren't getting through the forcefield, but she whined "Come on! Stupid forcefield, I wanna make this jerk bleed!" she cried out in annoyance. She resorted to a forceful flurry of blows, focusing more on power than accuracy. She figured that each attack it blocked forced it to use more chakra or whatever to fuel it, and bet she could eat through it's energy faster than she'd eat through her stamina, trying to keep to it's side in order to reduce the chance of being hit by whatever spell it was chanting. She made a mental note about Dawn's chains, and made sure to keep her eyes pealed for them. She'd definitely avoid them, if she could. |

But how can mirrors be real if our eyes aren't real?

Feline slammed the cannon into the ground once more, pulling the heavy lever. The glow appeared again - two bullets loaded. In the mean time, amidst the flurry of thoughts from everyone, she pinpointed those belonging to the undead ninja. Somehow, it had readable thoughts. Fear, hatred, the usual. Grinning behind her helmet, Feline started to bombard the creature's thoughts with more sensations of horror and the screams of the dying, all of which she had carved into her memory during her training. Oh, oops, the others could totally hear that too - but knowing her friends, that would only empower them. "I'll help." Siv said when restraints were brought up. Almost without thinking, she wove the thick thread of Air, wrapping it tightly around the ninja's force field, ready to reach inwards and constrict him should the field fall. She left openings for the others' attacks - especially Feline's. The psionic momentarily tuned out of the ninja's thoughts to instead focus on Siv. The channeler's mind was empty, short of its sense of purpose, like an arrow drawn and aimed. She could see the threads of air through Siv's mental images, see where she had to aim and where not. Well, the cracks made that clear, but Siv's sharp vision helped a lot. Grunting softly, she raised her cannon and aimed. The exhaust ports glowed blue, and the two shots left the barrel with two loud bangs. If one would pierce the shield, the other would blaze right through and into the opponent. If it wouldn't, then the other would strike like a hammer blow on the weakened shield. Should the shield be pierced, Siv would reach through with her Mindflay, greatly enhancing the agony inflicted by any attacks. |

The plan worked, for the most part. Dawn's chains and Siv's air bonds managed to keep the ninja paralyzed, while Elizabeth's attacks from behind managed to put cracks in the forcefield that extended all the way to the front. Rikina's cuts surprisingly managed to add to the damage, straining the barrier to its very limits just before she had to move aside. The ninja continued to warble and screech as the Chains of Terror and the memories that Feline forced into his mind continued to unsettle him. Without the clarity needed to escape the situation, he was unable to escape the two bullets. They sheared through his barrier, tearing through its torso like paper as the Mindflay increased the pain to unbearable levels. The ragged body of the ninja slumped over, apparently held up only by its bindings. ---- The man in the suit coughed, blood leaking out the side of his mouth as he tried to pick himself up. He looked up to Youhei, then back at the nearly destroyed zombie. "Please, get me out of here!" He begged the teen. "I've seen those... those monsters before! They don't die that easily! All they need to do is touch dead bodies to heal!" ---- As if on cue, Kell rushed over to try and land a killing blow on the unholy monster. But before she could, it did the unexpected. Its slim arms stabbed right through the remains of its own torso in order to use the free space to perform the hand signs for a certain ninjutsu. Suddenly, the ninja and Kell swapped locations in a puff of smoke. The wrestler choked as the air bonds and the chains started crushing her, but that was the least of their problems. Those two commandos managed to destroy some of the bodies of their comrades before the ninja could get to them, but they weren't fast enough to keep him from touching one. Almost as if by magic, the flesh of the corpse flowed into their mutual enemy and made it whole again. With a laugh that sounded like it came from a different man, the ninja unleashed a hail of knives at the students. |

Dawn observed the whole event, it seemed like they were easily defeating the ninja. At least right up until it swapped with the girl that was leading them and healed itself and then threw knives at them all. Dawn didn't have time to voice her intentions but she conjured a hail of her own crystal shards to match the ninja's knives. This would eat into her crystal reserve quite a bit but she wanted to make sure that no one got horribly killed whilst she could try to prevent it. Multiples crystal knives appeared in front of her and flew off to intercept the ninja's own knives. Whilst this was happening Dawn released her chains around the leading girl. It wouldn't do to have someone be incapacitated in this situation, they needed all the help they could get to try and deal with this thing whatever it was. This thing seemed rather strong but thankfully due to the armored men had begun to destroy multiple bodies so that the creature couldn't use his comrade's bodies anymore to revive himself, that meant that they just had to deal with the creature. Crystal Count: 38/50 |

Liz continued the assault of punches, her camouflage shimmering with each rapid punch. Along with the attacks of the others, it seemed to be destroying the creatures forcefield. The only thing running through Liz's mind were calculations, adjustments to her position and the kinetic force the creature would receive with each heavy punch to its forcefield. It seemed the creature was finished, Liz deciding to give it a final blow from behind. Suddenly, the creature reacted before her punch came in, Kell appearing in its place. Liz had to immediately stop the punch or risk breaking Kells body, a quick sudden stop just before it reached Kell. Liz removed her camo to appear in sight, "That was rather close," Liz commented, looking to Kell, "Your bones would have been broken beyond repair; consider yourself lucky." Liz looked up at Kells previous location, seeing the creature was free from its binds and touching a corpse. It suddenly laughed after the corpse disappeared within it, throwing a barrage of knives towards the students and her. Quick to react, Elizabeth stood in front of Kell in order to protect her investment. Liz would receive a decent number of knives, a couple sticking inside her arm and torso. "I may be an android, but my sensors allow me to feel pain." Liz's wounds bled a redish liquid, no doubt to simulate blood. |

Curses, it seemed that dead bodies were little more than a health pack for the zombies. Annoyingly, it seemed that the commandos weren't that effective. She was more worried about the knives coming towards Kell though. She'd have dealt with it herself, but it seemed that Liz took the initiative, allowing Rikina to focus on defending herself. Rikina, in a dance like motion, struck each knife that was heading towards her out of the air. She wouldn't have minded getting struck by a single knife, so long as it was in a spot that wouldn't do much injury, but considering just how high the stakes were, she wasn't exactly going to make a 'mistake' just so she could feel a knife in her. "Aw, is that all you've got. Feel free to do that again, you're fun to stab!" she shouted at the ninja, keeping the chains on it if she could. She charged towards the zombie ninja once more, aiming to cut it down. Even more so, she would feint, and aim towards the legs; she wanted to hobble it, so it couldn't pull the same stunt again. |
