The sharpened edge of the kusarigama cut, parting flesh as it slipped easily through what portion of the creature's neck she could reach. Suzume finished the slash, fumbling slightly with the weapon's wooden grip as she felt herself pitch forward, her momentum carrying her slightly further than she intended. Despite all appearances, Suzume made use of her kusarigama the least out of all the weapons she carried with her, and never against a creature quite like this before.

Her eyes widened as she realized her mistake, and cold hand gripped her heart as the creature moved its head, and she realized what it was trying to do. Here she was, an inch from free fall, moving forward, and the Soulbreaker had angled its head to skewer her through the gut with her own blade--the blade she was currently falling on top of.

There wasn't enough time to think, and not nearly enough time to consider the situation. Suzume let her grip slacken on the weapon's chain, her feet slipping out from under her as she tried to desperately angle her fall to the side. A line of fire erupted across her right side--she couldn't quite help the faint cry that escaped her as the dagger sliced through her robes. The blade struck the leather cuirass she wore beneath them, but at this angle, there was no hope for the hardened leather of stopping it completely. The knife slowed, but sliced through as she fell, skittering against her ribs. It wasn't as bad as if it had stabbed her in the gut, but it still hurt.

Gritting her teeth against the pain, Suzume twisted around, raising her right hand and and thrusting it at the underside of the creature's neck, just as she fell towards the ground. If her hand made contact, the mechanism that operated her hidden blade would engage, a thin sliver of steel shooting out from her wrist and striking at the Soulbreaker's neck.

Blaine's muscles screamed as his wires hit the Soulbreaker, fighting a vertical tug of war on the side of the building to try and keep the parasite away from Suzume, he grit his teeth at her involuntary scream as the knife-horn sliced into her, however the assassin would feel a great deal of satisfaction as he blow struck the Soulreaper squarely in the neck. With a sudden jerk and gurgle the beast became limp, slumping to the side. It began to melt into a gooey puddle of purple ooze, completely losing the ferocious shape that it had been seen in moments before.

Blaine rappelled down the side of the building, recalling all of his wires as soon as he was one the ground. He spared a glance for the creatures host, a medium sized dog, lying on the ground and slowly regaining consciousness. He spotted the Z-Magnum lying on the ground, before shifting into the form of a small mechanical sprite. "Zeks, Phage, make sure the dog is not retaining any kind of parasite infection before it runs off." said Blaine as he moved towards Suzume. The red Arcanite, Zeks, was already near the dog, letting a green glow pass over the dog as it began to examine it as purple one, named Phage, flew out from behind Blaine's neck and went to assist her brother with the inspection.

Blaine knelt down beside Suzume, the Fairy's Eye analysis her body to gauge the degree of the injury, "You're hurt, let me take a look at it. Do you need to be taken to hospital?" Blaine's tone was serious, but then again it always was when someone, anyone, got injured when dealing with a parasite.

Suzume collapsed onto the ground as soon as the Soulbreaker vanished, her hidden blade retracting smoothly into its place under her wrist as she dropped to one knee, pressing her hand firmly against her injured side. Blood slipped through her fingers, making her gloves slippery. She sucked in a breath through her teeth. No vital organs, she forced herself to think, even as the world spun around her and bile bubbled up in the back of her throat. No major arteries.

No, nothing like that, replied a sarcastic voice in the back of her mind, just a cut to the bone. Suzume wasn't squeamish, or at least, she wasn't anymore. Any squeamishness she had been born with had been bred out of her, especially in recent months. She might not like the sight of blood, but when it was necessary, she could tolerate it. However, somehow, it was easier to remain calm and stoic about things like this when it was someone else's injuries being discussed. She did tense, though, when Blaine caught hold of her arm, did attempt to draw herself up straighter. Pain shot through her side and she gave up the attempt quickly, remaining crouched with her hand pressed against her ribs.

"No," she said, shaking her head at him. "No hospital." Hospitals meant doctors, they meant identities, and they meant tricky questions. The Kurohana had doctors, and a good number of people trained to handle injuries like this one. She just had to get to Nori. She had to get away from Blaine and find Nori--in this city, somewhere. In the suburban district. When she got away from Blaine, she could call him and he'd come get her.

But at the moment, the priority was getting away from Blaine. "I'm fine--" Another hissing breath. That really hurt. A true shinobi was supposed to be able to focus through any pain, but sometimes the world conspired to remind Suzume that a little over a year ago, she would still have been considered in-training. "--sharp blade--clean cut--didn't hit anything--." She was glad she didn't like to poison her blades on a regular basis, when she did, she rarely used lethal poisons, but the ones she did use would have complicated things. She was also glad she kept her knives sharp. A clean cut might look worse, but would heal better than a messy one.

She told herself she was not listing every fact about knives and injuries she knew just to keep herself focused in the moment.

"I'll be fine--just go--I'll be fine."

The fact that she spoke in gasping breaths probably wouldn't convince Blaine to believe her, but she hoped he would at least take the hint and go away, no matter how much a part of her wanted to accept his help, if only to make the fire in her side go away right this minute.

Blaine frowned slightly at Suzume’s response, although in retrospect he could not say that he had not seen it coming. Given her skills and her attire it made sense that she didn’t want her actions getting any attention. A hospital would never treat an anonymous person for free. A clinic, with the right kind of forceful persuasion might, but Blaine was still new to the area and could not think of a single place that may be nearby.

“Alright, no hospitals, I get that and you clearly have your reasons,” He looked around the open street, no one was around yet. Once the quiet started to settle over the area it wouldn’t take long before people started showing up and Suzume’s injured body was spotted, “But I’m not going to leave you bleeding out here on the street, clean cut or not. I’m going to get you out of sight at least.

Suzume would see Zeks and Phage appear over Blaine’s shoulder, having completed their inspection.
“The dog’s fine, we couldn’t find and residual infection,” started Zeks.
“The parasite’s proteins are dissolving into nothing. All clear.” finished Phage
Blaine gave them a nod of thanks before turning his attention back to Suzume, the Arcanites floating a little bit away to give him space.

Blaine shifted his weight, sliding his hands underneath Suzume’s legs and back so he could get her in a bridal carry.
“This is going to hurt, but I’ll move as best I can.”
Blaine needed to be quick, there was some back doorway steps in the alley. It was a safe enough spot where Suzume would not be seen. Whether she protested or not, he carefully picked her up with surprising ease. She was light, but her geared seemed to weigh more, “Zeks, Phage, get her weapons and bring them along. I want to leave as little as possible for the local authorities to trace.”

As the Arcanites retrieved the knife and kusarigama, Blaine moved towards the nearby alley trying to keep Suzume’s body stable as he walked, spotting a set of concrete stairs that lead up to a large loading doorway. He moved up the stairs a bit more slowly, before finally kneeling down and placing Suzume so she rested against the large door-frame. Blaine was half considering offering to cauterize her wound, but thought better of it.

He didn’t leave just yet, thinking carefully before speaking, “Is there someone that you will let help you? Do you have a way of contacting them right now?”
It was old military habits from Blaine's father kicking in, never leave a man behind and if that is not an option, ensure they have a safe extraction.

There was a soft clattering of metal as the Arcanites placed the weapons nearby Suzume.

Blaine was staring at her unblinkingly, he clearly wasn't about to go until she gave him an answer.

Suzume grit her teeth as Blaine picked her up, clamping down on the groan of pain before it could leave her throat. She couldn't quite help the sharp indrawn breath that followed. The ninja made no move to resist as Blaine moved her off the street, curling up into herself and trying to lessen some of the jostling. Some shaking was inevitable, though, so she tried to breathe deeply, focusing on the situation instead of the pain. And through all of this, she kept an eye on Blaine. Helping her move away from the battlefield was one thing, but if he tried to remove her mask...if he tried anything that looked like it was meant to hurt her...

She still had her hidden blade. And she wasn't so weakened that she didn't know how to use it. She wanted to trust Blaine, but she knew she couldn't afford to take chances, weakened as she was and considering who her enemies were.

She let out a shuddering breath as Blaine eased her down against the wall. It might have been interpreted as one of pain, but it was actually a sigh of relief, that for a moment, the British gunslinger was all that he appeared to be. She propped her head up against the wall as he asked his questions, turning towards him. In answer, Suzume raised her left hand slowly, her right still pressed against her wound, and reached into the pocket of her robe. She drew out a small black cellphone, the screen becoming slick with blood as she drew her hand across it. It didn't require too much coordination to make the call--her contact was on speed dial. Number 5, for easiest access. She closed her eyes, catching her breath as it rang, then abruptly opened them, looking at Blaine. Her eyes were the only part of her visible beneath her robes, and despite the paleness of the skin that surrounded them, they were alert, evaluating, watching.

They met Blaine's briefly before sliding away.

"Regent," said a man's voice on the other end of the line, in Japanese. While the phone was pressed to her ear, if the alleyway was quiet enough and Blaine's ears sharp enough, he might be able to pick up some of the other end of the conversation. Might.

"Nori," she said, replying back in the same language. Her voice was still shaky, but she had gathered some control of herself, it seemed. She talked in full sentences now, punctuated by only the occasional gasp or breath. "I'm injured and in need of assistance. I'm downtown." She described the location around her, listening to Nori's silence at the other end of the line. She had learned with him that sometimes his silences were more important than his words. When she was finished, she heard him take a breath, heard the concern for her in his voice, hidden underneath formality.

"Understood. I can be there in twenty minutes."

Her eyes moved towards Blaine again. "I have a guest," she warned him.

She could almost hear Nori's surprise from the other end of the line, and ended the call before he could comment. The last time she'd said that, there had been no end to trouble. She almost smiled as she put the phone away. That had been a simpler time then.

But she didn't smile. She looked back at Blaine, and considered the wound in her side. Gritting her teeth, she tried to sit up straighter, grasping at the torn fabric of her outer robe with her free hand. Suzume pulled, the fabric tearing and exposing both the wound and the black leather cuirass she wore beneath the robes, her throwing knives strapped to it in strategic places. Where the cuirass dipped down across her chest, strips of white cloth could be seen, from her sarashi bindings, but her modesty was still preserved, and more important than that, her identity. The mask stayed in place, even as she attempted to tear off enough cloth to bind her wound with and slow the bleeding.

Her eyes caught Blaine's, and while she wouldn't ask him to help, she wasn't at the point where she would resist if he offered. Suzume clenched her teeth tightly together, attempting to move the wad of black cloth she had salvaged on top of the wound. Removing her armor and tying a makeshift bandage would be beyond her ability at the moment (without help), but she could at least try and slow the bleeding while she waited for Nori to come.

Blaine's eyes were fixed on Suzume, moving slightly only to watch as she pulled out a cellphone and began making a call. Navi was tracking her movements in her Fairy's Eye state, noting that the only number she dialed was a 5 and displaying this for Blaine to see before she commenced a scanning sequence and got to work on intercepting the call, not that Blaine was about to reveal this to Suzumen, everyone needed their secrets after all and being able to tap into a wireless communication was just an accessory ability in Blaine's Hellsing Hunter arsenal.

He was a bit satisfied actually, that his Arcanites were able to work so diligently without him having to tell them.
He met Suzume's gazed before she turned away and started speaking, at this point taking time to look down the alleyway. He could see people starting to make their back into the street, but none coming to investigate the alleyway, so far. He listened to the brief exchange in the conversation, having to think about it for a moment since Suzume was speaking in Japanese.

As the called ended, Blaine felt that it was his time to leave. Her contact had not sounded too thrilled that someone was here with her. Yet he lingered a moment, watching as she began to tear her outer robe and try to bind her wound. Protective gear underneath was not making it easier for her and she seemed in too much pain to remove it herself. Blaine silently reached out, his hands going to work on the leather cuirass and helping to remove it, it was clear that she was struggling with it in her current state. After a few moments, as the two teenagers worked to loosen the armor and bandage the wound, Blaine spoke.

"I'm sorry you got injured during all of this, I truly am. I am thankful to you for your assistance. A lot more could have been damaged and more people could have been hurt."

He looked up at Suzume for a moment, his fingers and hands slightly stained from her blood, "I'm Blaine. I would like to repay you at some point if you ever need help."

Suzume released her hold on the shred of cloth, allowing Blaine to help her with her armor. She leaned back against the wall to catch her breath, her worries about modesty temporarily taking a back seat to needing to see the wound taken care of. It wouldn't matter what Blaine saw, she decided, as long as he never saw her face. When she had her mask on, she wasn't anybody.

She shook her head, her breathing still coming in shallow pants, and hissed in pain as Blaine's hand accidentally brushed the wound. This was going to be a problem in school tomorrow, she was sure of that. Maybe she could fake an illness for a few days. Would that be too obvious? Blaine had never met her. "Don't--don't be sorry," she said in English. "I knew what I was getting into."

It would have had to happen sometime. Suzume had been in too many supernatural encounters since coming to Hyakuji to not get injured once. She tried to tell herself that as she sat there and did her best to stay still. That if she really thought about it, she had beaten the odds.

The boy introduced himself. Blaine. She made a note to remember that, and have Nori look into it when he came. She didn't think Blaine was a threat to her anymore, but it was simply prudent. Besides, if she was reading him right, he would probably do the same. "Cho," she said, giving the name she had been using as a ninja to conceal her identity. Blaine might recognize it as the Japanese word for 'butterfly'. "I'll be sure--to remember that."

What Blaine did see as he tended to Suzume's wound went past the male teenage brain that would have usually occupied his being in many other occasions. He was different when he was hunting, it was about business and if it was about anything else then crucial mistakes were made and people more often than not ended up dead.

He was somewhat thankful Suzume had not been one of those people. She was an unexpected factor in the mission that actually turned out to greatly benefit it. It was different during large scale missions. Though Hellsing did its utmost to only recruit the cream of the crop when it came to dealing with the paranormal, there were still a decent handful of recruits that didn't last more than a few months.

Blaine's lips drew into a tight line as he heard Suzume's sharp intake of breath. His memories had apparently had distracted him enough that he had accidentally applied pressure on the wound. He was still glad she was taking the situation well after his apology. She knew her line of work well on all accounts, even the aftermath.

He raised an eyebrow slightly at the mention of her name. Cho. Butterfly. It was Japanese enough alright, but given the way Suzume kept her face concealed Blaine had a decent enough hunch to gauge it was an alias. Still he wasn't about to press the issue, Cho was a good enough reference for him to go on.

He finished dressing the wound and took a moment to examine his handiwork before speaking, "That should be alright for now until you can get someone with the right equipment to look at you." He took a moment to look at Suzume making eye-contact. It was somewhat strange he did not blink the entire time he did so. "Do you know how far away your contact is from picking you up? Do you want me to keep a look out until he arrives? Or should I leave and let you cacoon a bit quietly until he gets here?"
