With Lorelei’s silent confirmation of her thoughts, Sophia knew she had made the right choice. The Valkyrie smiled and took a deep breath, wincing slightly as more blood poured from the gash in her side. “This isn’t another promise Lorelei.” Hovering her hand over her wound, she chanted Lux Curationum and watched the gash close. It wasn’t completely healed, but it’ll be enough for now. She then stood shakily and held out a hand to the fallen girl, pulling her up to her feet. “This is me helping a friend realize her dreams. Besides…” She looked up at the sky, and presumably the outside world. “I think a certain young man would be sad if his doll got hurt.”

Despite her words Sophia knew there wasn’t much, if anything, she could do. One thing was confirmed though: for whatever reason, the reaper didn’t want to hurt her. That may be their only advantage, but it might be the only one they need. “I don’t think we need to say anything more, I reject your ‘freedom’ Adour. If you want to kill Lorelei, you’ll have to kill me too.” A risky statement, but Sophia was determined. With another deep breath the Valkyrie invoked Alarum Valhalla and stood by Lorelei’s side, gently covering the doll with a wing.

Here stands a Reaper and an Angel, with the life of a doll hanging in the balance. The next move will decide the fate of Lorelei and Sophia, and perhaps even this world.

"Thank you." Lorelei smiled, placing both her faith into the Valkyrie.

As Sophia helped Lorelei off the floor, both Adour and the Reaper stood motionless; the lilac-haired girl watching the red-robed man, and the man precariously staring at the Valkyrie and doll. However, Sophia would notice that Lorelei was nearly incapable of supporting her own weight. She was barely more than a cripple, unable to move anything below her neck. Though, most people probably wouldn't even be in one piece after such a fall.

Posted ImageAdour seemed to flicker into animation once more, as Sophia spoke. However, the serious and grave expression was still present, giving him the air that was very unlike that of Adour.

"Is that your choice, then, Sophia Antisitia?"

It was rhetorical, he didn't need to ask. Adour was given the answer as the wings sprouted upon Sophia's back.
Posted Image"Then so be it."

Reaching into his pocket, the man withdrew a deck of cards. Placing the stack upon his open palm, Adour extended the pile slowly in Sophia's direction. A silent audible formed, as the top card of the deck began to glow. The next moment, pulled by magic, the card suspended into the air, revealing its contents to Sophia.

"Speaking of 'young men', I've got a call to make."

Posted Image
"Ey Cerul, ya there?" Adour asked lightheartedly, his voice floating into the air. For moments, there was silence.

Lorelei gasped, her eyes flitting up at the card.

Then, another voice, one that Sophia had never heard before.

"...What is it Adour?" The soft yet strong voice vibrated the air, coming from the card before the robed man. Cerul, perhaps Sophia had heard the name before, mentioned offhandedly and in remembrance. But, now, she hears this otherworldly voice.

"Something... interesting happened," Adour replied coyly.

"I don't have time this, what do you want?" The voice sharpened, obviously not in the mood for Adour's usual antics. "Did you find her?'

Adour snarled unseen at the voice, the apprehension causing him to sour slightly. "Yeah, I did." Adour spared an annoyed glance at Sophia. "However, she's not exactly being cooperative."

"I didn't expect her to be."

"Also, Larue and that hag are still in this world, and I'm already pretty torn up," Adour notified the man on the line cheerfully. Moments of silence then engulfed the line. Meanwhile, the Reaper hadn't made a single move from her position, though her face suggested that she was paying very close attention to the exchange between Adour and the mysterious voice.

"I understand," the voice replied after a short absence. Its tone was entirely impassive, simply an acknowledgement of the developing circumstances. "I'll see what I can do on my end. You jsut worry about finishing your job."

"Yeah, yeah, I hear ya," Adour brushed off the man's hurry. "Much appreciated." The sarcasm in the air was enough to choke an elephant. At that, the card lost its glow, the picture of the man fading, before returning to the blonde's magical deck.

Posted Image"Well, there you have it," Adour remarked, like the host of some game show. "You're resolute in your convictions, and it would be inconvenient for me to shirk from mine." Adour smiled to himself, nodding to the waiting Reaper.

"You know, I would've preferred not to fight you," the blonde shrugged, despite his injuries. Two cards appeared in the palm of his hand.

"But your choice had made this inevitable. No-"

"You talk too much."

In the next moment, the ground suddenly erupted between the two, spraying grass, dirt and debris liberally like confetti. Wait, no- the ground didn't burst. Something crashed downward, with immense force. As soon as the dust cleared, Sophia would see a giant white tree trunk before her, where Adour used to be. Except, it wasn't a tree trunk. What looked like skin covered the expanse of the appendage, a sickly and pale white, like the bark of maple trees. The bottom of the thing came to long elongated root-like fingers, each tipped and clawed. Upwards, Sophia would soon find herself staring into another titan.

Posted Image
"You're just like Larue, always talking and always preaching." The air vibrated with the voice, the words seeming to just flit into existence and pull themselves forcibly against Sophia's eardrums. The voice itself, would be familiar. It was Edda. And if the giant dragon towering above them was any indication, she had found them.

"Don't you guys ever get tired of hearing your own voice?" The tree-esque dragon swayed its head idly, its pearl eyes turning upon Sophia and Lorelei. After the initial confusion, Sophia would also see that the Reaper had disappeared.

"So, it was Cerul then?" the voice remarked, more as a note to herself rather than a question. A soft laugh brushed through the leaves and grass. "How quaint. It would seem the pupil exceeded the master. Don't you agree, Larue?"

"Larue?" Lorelei ceased her silence, speaking out. With tepid eyes, the doll traced up the limb of the creature, before falling upon the opal eyes. "Larue," she confirmed, as if in a daze.

The dragon remained motionless.

"Like my makeover, Lorelei?" the voice taunted childishly. "He seemed to adore that throne and tree so much, I've decided to give it to him! A gift for holding the fort down for so long. Of course, I took some liberties; it wouldn't be any fun stuck as a tree for a thousand years." An haughty giggle echoed; it was if Edda was speaking right beside their ears.

"You fiend..." Lorelei muttered in dismay. Even though they were enemies, the doll had nod desire to see this. It was just wrong, for something human to be twisted and snapped into something like this.

Sophia tensed when Adour pulled out his card, pulling Lorelei closer with her wing like a protective older sister. She had witnessed his card based powers firsthand and knew how dangerous he is. Luckily it turns out that he was just contacting someone, someone perhaps even more dangerous if Lorelei’s reaction was any indication. Whoever he was, he was apparently trying to apprehend her for some reason. “I don’t know what he wants, but if you’re looking for a fight you’ll get one Ado...”

… The ground suddenly exploded in front of her and the Valkyrie shielded her face with her free wing. The second the debris died down she lowered the wing and gasped in surprise when she saw who… or rather, what it was. Even knowing that Edda was a dragon the sight awed her. “So Larue is… gone?” She can’t say she missed him though, but Lorelei… The doll looked visibly shaken at the sight of Larue fossilized there.

But… What now? It was a Mexican standoff, except it’s a tree dragon, a magical card user, and a Valkyrie. At least things were better… somewhat. Maybe Adour would be too distracted with Edda and they were able to get away or something… She cast a glance at Lorelei. “What should we do? Do we fight them…? Or…?” Edda was not her enemy, not directly at least. “If it’s just Adour I might be able to do something, but against Edda…”

After a moment, Lorelei broke her eyes from Larue, from the giant white dragon, turning them to face Sophia. Her stare showed no hesitation or fear. Lorelei had decided that she would continue, no matter now stood in her way. However, that didn't mean that she was going to throw her, and Sophia's life away. They were at an impasse; it was true. Both Sophia and her were wounded, and were in no position to confront Edda. That, and the circumstance around Adour and that Reaper were still unknown.

"No, he's not gone," Lorelei remarked, biting her lips anxiously. Her grip upon Sophia's wings tightened. "That's Larue." The white dragon; that was Larue.

Lorelei eyes fell as Sophia continued her questioning. "I... Don't know..." Now, she simply doesn't know. Could not know. The future was uncertain to her, and had disappeared from her eyes ever since she had pulled Sophia here. Powerlessness, that's what Lorelei felt. Again, she had to depend upon others to fight her battles.

"Yes it is," the voice affirmed. "Honestly though, he's much more agreeable this way; doesn't complain nearly as much."

Lorelei let out a sigh. No, she couldn't give up. Not yet. She had to see this through, one way or another.

"We can't fight her," the doll admitted in a hushed whisper. Not that it mattered; Edda could probably hear them regardless. The dragon swayed his head idly, as if to signify the point. Despite that, however, Lorelei continued.

"We would have to run... Find some way to get out of here..." She was ambiguous; whether Lorelei meant leaving the immediate area, this world, or this reality, were unclear. Perhaps she meant all of them. "A distraction," Lorelei proclaimed to the Valkyrie. "Something to hold her attention... Just for awhile..." It was the best she got. Lorelei didn't have a concrete plan, but it was difficult to concoct anything sensible when you could barely stand. Not to mention the creature Larue had become bearing down on them.

"You bitch!

As if on cue, an explosion rocked the opposite side of the white claw. Immediately afterwards, the dragon reared, its deep guttural cry filling the forest, as it brought its hand back into the air. As it retreated, Sophia would be able to feel a burst of heat and embers. And see a familiar robed man, standing in the middle of a growing maelstrom.

Posted Image

"Stop getting in my way!" For the first time, Sophia would see Adour seriously angered. The foliage and shurbbery around the young man began to die and wilt, a side effect of the whirling blaze that surrounded him.

"I'll kill you, you hag!"

"Oh? Impressive, you're still alive," the voice mused. "But you're much too young to be able to kill me. Besides, those wounds I gave you must still be stinging, right? Are you sure you should be so agitated?" Edda taunted nonchalantly. Despite the energy of Adour's attack, the white dragon had already recovered, staring placidly down at Adour.

"Shut up!" Adour snapped back angrily. The magician seemed to have temporarily forgotten about his wuarrel with Sophia and Lorelei, his attention completely held by Edda. "I'll make you pay...!" It seemed the hooded man had some history with Edda.

"For what, exactly?"

As the two continued their vocal banter, Lorelei turned an eye towards Sophia. "Now, while they're distracted. Let us, away..." Seeing as Lorelei couldn't move, however, she depended upon Sophia to ferry them to safety. However, judging Adour's temperament and display, it would seem the boy was going to go toe to toe with a bonafide deity.

Thus, Sophia had two choices.

Sophia nodded in agreement, retreat was their best… no, only option, and with the Adour and the beast that Larue had become locked in combat, this was their best chance. The Valkyrie thought she heard a crack as she backed away with Lorelei in tow, but with all the debris flying around it was easily put out of mind. As soon as they were a short distance away, she pushed off the ground and took to the skies, cradling the doll in her arms as she flew.

The pair flew through the hole Edda had made and into the night sky, never looking back. “I can maintain these wings for another fifteen minutes or so, after that I won’t be able to fly again until tomorrow.” Come to think of it, time worked differently here didn’t it? But it was still best not to make assumptions and end up falling to their demise. Whatever the case, something had to be answered first, and Sophia looked at Lorelei.

“…Where do we go?”

"That should be enough," Lorelei nodded, despite her face being covered in worry. Though she couldn't help but wonder how much time did they have. How long could that wounded man hold off Edda? The sounds of battle could still be heard behind them, the snapping of trees and the crisp crackle of fire. What did Edda want with her, anyways? After all, Larue was the one who imprisoned her here, and she had already turned him into a thrall. So what could she possibly want with them?

Or was she just alleviating her boredom? Exercising her long-sought freedom?

Lorelei shook her head; it was useless to think about that now. They needed to survive, get out of this snow globe of a world. Somehow.

"We just need some distance-"

The doll's voice was suddenly cut off, as a flurry of cloth whipped in the air before the escaping duo. A dull brown, embellished with light lilac. A sheen shone through, as metal reflected the moonlit sky.

Posted ImageIt was that Reaper.

Her face remained impassive, as she blocked the path before both doll and valkyrie. As she did was gaze at the two, though her stance and scythe made it apparent that she wasn't just going to let them pass. After a moment of silent confrontation, the girl shifted her weight, as if she was standing on the air. Her scythe seemed to follow the motion fluidly.

"Hand her over," the girl spoke, motioning to the doll Sophia cradled.

Lorelei remained motionless, her eyes glued onto the newcomer. It was obvious that this stranger wasn't on their side, but it was also pretty evident that she was not carnal for fight either. Though, her expression suggested she wasn't in the position for diplomacy either.

To emphasis her position, the girl slung her scythe from her resting position, drawing it up by her side. A stance, should a fight break out.

"Give me the doll. Or I will take it by force."

Luck was not with them this day. The sight of the reaper girl stopped Sophia dead in her tracks. The Valkyrie’s hands were tied with Lorelei in her arms, and even if she wasn’t carrying the doll it was unlikely she could defeat the reaper in combat. That didn’t mean she was going to give Lorelei up just like that though, and she shifted the doll to her left arm and pointed at her opponent with her free hand. “I told you before, if you want to kill her, you’ll have to kill me too.”

Of course, she wasn’t going down without a fight. “Why are you so insistent on killing Lorelei?” If she can’t fight physically, she’ll have to try her luck at diplomacy. “You seem to be working with Adour, and he was adamant about ‘freeing’ her. But you realize that she has no desire to be freed, don’t you? If you want to help her, this is not the way.”

As she spoke she heard that same cracking that she had heard while on the forest floor. Strange, considering there’s nothing capable of making that sound up here to her knowledge. Something in the back of her mind told her that it wasn’t good news, but whatever it was it will have to wait until they were safe from the reaper girl first.

Posted Image"Why are you so insistent in shielding her?" the Reaper returned Sophia's question, furrowing her brow, though it was less than noticeable.

"I don't care what she wants," the lilac-haired girl replied, traces of anger through her tone. "Something like her shouldn't even be alive in the first place. An abomination, an affront to all things human." Her tone fell darker and darker as she spoke. Yet, it was nothing like the fanaticism that Adour portrayed; the Reaper's voice was paced and mild. Controlled, yet vividly self-justified.

The Reaper's eyes honed in on Lorelei.

"Nothing more than a parasitic siren."

Harsh accusations toiled forth from the Reaper's mouth. Shouldn't be alive? An abomination? A parasite and siren? They didn't seem like insults one would just throw wildly.

"This girl doesn't even know that she's being played!"

An ephemeral voice echoed from the depths of Sophia's memory.

Everyone here, had their own agenda. Larue fought for control and power. Edda fought for her liberty. Adour fought because of his. Even Rayne, was fighting for something. But what was Lorelei trying to accomplish? What made her wish any more important than the others?

Lorelei remained silent, her eyes dulled at the woman's accusations.

The robed girl began walking forward, towards Sophia. Each steps was supported by the air, causing the edges of her robe to sway and bob up and down. Her blade trailed behind her, the metal covered in a moonlit sheen.

"Now, I'll ask again. Stand aside or be cut down."

crack crack crack

Adour's back collapsed against the charred remains of a tree. This wasn't good. A fresh assortment of blood now adorned his matted red cloak, with a small rivulet made its way down the corner of his cracked lips. Slowly, the river dripped, moving slightly every time the man drew breath. Each breath was a battle for him. And each step was a war.

"Damn it..." Adour's vision began to blur from blood loss and trauma.

"Running already?" the omnipresent voice taunted. "You had so much bravado before!" The titan swayed its head back and forth, its hands dragging through the ground only a dozen feet away. A seemingly large distance, but one that the giant can close instantly with a swing of its hand. In fact, Larue could probably just level the entire area around him, that would guarantee Adour's end.

But he didn't. Or, rather, Edda wouldn't allow him.

She's toying with me...

Edda already knew where he was; there was no way she wouldn't. But she had also withheld that information from her thrall, so that she may watch the developments of this game progress.

A game of cat and mouse.

Adour bit his lips, spitting out a globule of dried blood that had accumulated. Well, if Edda wanted to play, Adour was going to live up to her expectations. And exceed it. After all, he still had one card up his sleeve; both metaphorically and literally. Shifting himself, a card appeared in the boy's hand. And just in time, as it would seem that Edda was growing impatient.

"Boo!" The seemingly innocent cheer was echoed by the tearing of trees and the brushing of air. Adour didn't have to peek out to guess that everything around him was going to be flattened in the next instant.

"Fenet!"

Of course, even he knew that he was powerless to stop that monstrosity that Larue had become. But, the objective of most games is not complete annihilation of the opposition. Only brute would think that.

Adour's objective was time.

Persistent wasn’t she? Well too bad Sophia was just as persistent. “I’ll have you know one of my closest friends happens to be a ‘doll’ as well, a mechanical construct brought to life. Are you saying she’s an abomination, an affront to all things human too?” Lorelei’s circumstances might be somewhat different from Eva’s, but Sophia took great offense from the reaper’s words.

Something in the back of her head reminded Sophia that she still had no idea what Lorelei was trying to do in starting all this, and it irritated her like a thorn in her side. But the Valkyrie was more inclined to believe somehow who had protected her over someone threatening her, so she remained steadfast in her defense. “She is very important to a friend of mine, so I have every reason to protect her, reaper.” To be fair Sophia wasn’t that familiar with Evray, but she did remember that he always had Lorelei around and seemed to be very fond of her.

“I’ve given my response to your questions, but you have yet to answer mine. So you either give me a good reason to give Lorelei up, or you kill me along with her.”

Posted Image Something seemed to snap for the reaper, as she shouted "A life is not something for you to just throw away!" The winds suddenly picked up, as the girl tightened her grip upon her scythe. And then, she stopped.

Lorelei shook her head slowly, the small movement taking most of her will.

The Reaper stopped her advance, her eyes widening slightly. As if a revelation have just crossed her mind.

"You... honestly don't know..." A venomous glance was shot at Lorelei but that quickly turned into a look of pity. Despite keeping her eyes upon the doll, Sophia would know that the girl was speaking to her. Slowly, the Reaper lowered her guard. A sigh then escaped those lips, as the Reaper pondered her thoughts silently.

"I... apologize. I did not meant to cause offense," the girl surprisingly admitted. The Reaper was probably referring to Sophia's "close friend". It should be plenty apparent now that the Reaper bore Sophia no ill will, though the girl still had her scythe, so that meant a fight was still possible.

"Are you familiar with a boy, a student of Hyakuji," the Reaper asked. "Named Evray?"

“Evray was the one I was referring to when I said Lorelei is important to a friend of mine.” Sophia had suspected that the young man had something to do with all this since she recognized the doll. “What does he have to do with this?” The Valkyrie had been operating under the assumption that this world is independent of the outside world, but if not…

Upon hearing the name, Lorelei stiffened.

Posted Image"So you're familiar with him," the Reaper nodded, as if a mild burden had just been lifted off her. "Then you might just be aware of his condition. In fact, you should know more than I do..."

After speaking that line, the girl quieted, inspecting Sophia's face for any reaction that might resemble understanding. But the Reaper would find none.

Her brow furrowed again, as if disappointed.

"'Evray ends with this world," the Reaper paced her speech, as if she was lecturing. "Simply put, Larue is correct. This place is the boy's heart. This world, is intrinsically linked to the person you know." The girl crossed her arms, as if she was unsatisfied with the explanation she had just given. Even she did not know the finer details of how that might've worked, but her abilities had at least allowed her to confirm it. This world, this place, though seemingly disconnected from reality, is linked through one focal point.

The reaper turned towards the doll, her eyes ice. And like how her abilities as a reaper allowed her to see the lines connecting this world with Evray, that ability also allowed her to see the enigma that was Lorelei.

"Now do you understand? Why I must stop her?"

"Quaint," a voice spoke out besides Sophia. "So Cerul was able to figure that out as well?" Movement would echo from her arm, as Lorelei pushed itself out of her grasp.

"Even after everything Larue did to confine him, he was still able to do something like this. Very impressive," Lorelei noted duly, as she suspended her self in the air between the two. Hesitantly, the Reaper took a step backwards.

"But, perhaps his most impressive feat, was enlisting the aid of a Reaper. Yes, a Reaper would definitively be able to defile the world's law of 'undeath'. But you are wrong on one thing, I'm not the parasitic doll named Lorelei. Not exactly," Lorelei continued in her rant, her eyes narrowed and sharp.

"What are you talking about?"

Those slants turned towards Sophia.

"Allow me to introduce myself properly then," the doll remarked. "Lorelei. There was never a person going by that name. 'Lorelei' was a fantasy, an idle dream created my a delusional boy's dream and a trapped girl's desire. Lorelei was just that, a parasitic doll. An arcane artifact which feast upon souls. It has no intention, malice or emotion. However, when it absorbs a soul, the doll creates a persona based upon those characteristics. It adopts the appearance, memories, emotions and deepest inner desires of the person."

"..." The Reaper was right. Lorelei wasn't, if anything, what she had seemed. A life-eating doll, that adopted the characteristics of the people it consumed.

Lorelei then lifted the hem of her dress slightly, dipping into a formal curtsy.

Posted Image"The last soul this doll consumed was Marian Fairbairn, second protege of Larue Estus. Pleasure to finally make your acquaintance Sophia." Returning to her full height, the girl shrugged.

"Though, if you prefer Lorelei, I have no qualms with that designation either. In fact, I've grown quite fond of it. None of my prey have ever bothered to name me before, I find it to be very fitting."

Turning back to the Reaper, this...girl, smiled.

"So, now that my grande secret is revealed, where does that place you? Did Cerul sent you to end an imitator such as me? Had enough of me masquerading with the soul of his beloved?"

Sophia watched the reaper explain, not wanting to believe her ears. “Is it true..?” Her voice was hushed as she turned to the doll in her arms. “Are you really trying to destroy this world? To… end Evray?” The Valkyrie couldn’t understand, Evray had always doted on the doll, cared for her, even obsessively, so why?

Then the truth came out, and as most truths are, it wasn’t as pretty as what she had imagined. Sophia offered no resistance as Lorelei, or rather the parasite, walked away from her, merely watching in silence. She wondered if Evray knew, and how he would react to this news… that something he treasured so dearly was feeding off him, manipulating him. Maybe it was some kind of symbiotic parasite, maybe they needed each other, since Evray seemed to be dependent on her after all.

No. Even if that was the case, the fact remained that if this continued Evray would end at best. At worst this parasite will consume him and move on to some other unsuspecting victim, and who knows how many more after. No, this had to end here, even if it would hurt Evray. Hopefully his attachment to Lorelei was just some kind of magic cast by the parasite to ensure the host wouldn’t leave, and once destroyed Evray would lose interest in the doll.

That’s not to say it will be easy. With the parasite up and moving around, it was clear that it had been hiding some strength, presumably in case something like this happened. Still, it should be easier than fighting the reaper if it came to that… hopefully. “I can’t allow you to harm my friend any longer, parasite.” Sophia maintained position, making sure to trap the parasite between herself and the reaper, giving a small nod behind the parasite’s back to indicate she would help the reaper. “Marian Fairbairn will be the last soul you devour.”

Posted Image"Shame," the doll remarked. "People can be so fickle." Turning herself, Lorelei faced Sophia, as the Valkyrie and Reaper both bordered her. Crossing her arms before her, the doll had the composure of someone completely confident and in control; magnitudes apart from her demeanor prior. Yet, despite her confidence, she seemed to be putting up no resistance.

"Saying one thing, but then doing another. Guess it really is impossible. After everything, it was all empty, hollow words." The doll's laments, however, now came out menacingly.

And, perhaps a bit sad.

The Reaper caught onto Sophia's motive, nodding back in return.

"I won't fight. I don't have the strength to win against a normal human, much less a Valkyrie and Reaper," Lorelei submitted, letting out a soft sigh. But, despite that, that manipulative and coy smile still plagued her lips. "But even if you were to destroy me, I'm not the only one who seeks this place's destruction. Everything must end, one way or another. You cannot stop that."
Adour fell to one leg, his ragged cloak a bright vermillion contrast to the muddled, burnt, and dusted ground about him. Gone were the trees, grass and shrubbery that had populated the patch of forest before, and replaced was a desolate meadow of waste. Adour's knee began sinking into the filth, his pants taking on the shade of grime and dirt. But that was the least of his worries.

%"Well, its seems our little chase has come to a close."% The pale whilte and blue dragon drifted before him, like a predator only a moment from enjoying its feast. He doubt that the thing even required consumption, if it even could process people, but tearing him to limbs and pieces would mean all the same to Adour.

%"Nowhere to hide now, huh? Well wasn't that tiring? You should've just gave up, that would've saved me a lot of trouble." Despite saying that however, the voice sounded cheerful, almost giddy.

"You... still don't get it, do you?" Adour got out, sputtering dried blood. Slowly he straightened himself.

"Still feel like going? You're nothing but a ragged mess now. Though the Denizens here can't die, I can still very easily break you."

I've found her.

Posted Image"You... really don't get it!" Adour lifted his head, brandishing his fiendish smile from beneath his cowl.

"You're not exactly omniscience either!" The two sides seem to have flipped in demeanor, Adour speaking as if he had held the upper hand all along.

A moment of silence spread, as one could only guess at Edda's reaction to Adour's outburst.

"You..." the voice spoke, before faltering. Adour smiled. Larue roared into the night sky, its cry a mixture irritation, anger, and confusion. Rearing its arm up, its procceeded to slam the hard appendage down upon the man, with enough force to dig a hole into the ground.
"Now! Don't let her escape!" the Reaper shouted, as she sprinted towards Lorelei from behind. The doll, however, hadn't move an inch from her station, seemingly rooted to her position in the air like a flying statue. Only those eyes blinked once or twice, as she continued to gaze at the Valkyrie with that small wry smile.

"You cannot stop this world from turning."

"Anima Fortuna!"

“Some things change, parasite.” Sophia was completely nonplused by Lorelei’s accusations. “Had you truly been a friend to Evray I would have no reason to go back on my words. But yet here you stand, draining the very soul out of my friend.” The Valkyrie approached the doll, ready to apprehend her. “That is something I cannot allow.”

That’s not to say she wasn’t disturbed by Lorelei’s statement. Did someone else want this world, want Evray… removed? The cracking from earlier seemed to have silenced, but that felt more like the calm before the storm instead of an actual resolution. The Valkyrie understood from Adour’s words that whatever magic he had invoked involved the soul, presumably Evray’s, but just what he was doing with it was unknown. In this time of crisis she turned to the only one she thought had the answers. “Reaper! You were with Adour earlier, what is his objective!? What did he do!?”
