The card wasn't anything fancy in his possession, it was where he stood now that was fancy. It was only a dream, something his father and grandmother only ever dreamed about it. Squeezing the card tight to reign in his excitement Lella put on his warmest attitude around himself. Shaking with glee the young boy took his first steps towards empowering himself through the rumored Elemancer Castle. It did take him almost three hours to finally locate the excat location the card he had been given. The castle and grounds were so hidden he was about to just give up on joining the group itself. Though now that he stood there he was glad he had persistance. Lella slid the invitation into his pocket and looked around. He wasn't quite sure where to go. Lelle jumped a bit as his pre-paid cellphone rang. Taking it out of his other pocket the boy sighed. It was his father texting him again. Ever since the last week had passed without him calling his family his father had sent him this phone. It had no minutes, only unlimited texting. Many people might find that strange but being his shoes he didn't care. Dropping the phone between his feet he raised a booted foot and frowned. He coudln't do it. He didn't have the willpower to completely sever his connection with his father. "Why can't I just leave my family? It's so unfair." He muttered to himself before picking the tiny device back up and just holding it out. Looking past the phone he stared back at the castle. If he was going to join there ranks he just knew he was going to have to make a few friends first. He just couldn't see anyone yet because he had dropped his phone once again, because it scared him again by going off. Lella was obviously, to anyone passing by, new to technology and the area itself. |

eh . . . He thought as he trudged through the woods. He had expected more from hunting around the Elemancer Castle. The creatures here were much like the others in the woods, to be honest the more monstrous variety of beasts were less common here. Most likely a result of the mages here, they probably kill the things and let them rot He considered it a terrible waste, biomass shouldn’t be left to waste. He looked a little worse for wear as he pushed back the bushes and saw Lelle, contemplating the castle while holding a phone. We have cell service out here? he mentally stated, once again recalling his proximity to the massive facility that was known as the Elemancer castle and realizing that such a place probably had some way of getting cell service. On his shoulder was an armadillo like haemonculi with a pointed nose, one of his own creations. Several metallic canisters were strapped to his back, weighing him down. He leaned up against a tree to catch his breath, the sleeve of his dark colored storm jacket giving him a cushion from the tree’s rough bark. “Would you mind pointing me to the city, I’ve been in the woods for a few days and kind of got a bit turned around” While the Elemancer Castle’s location was somewhat of a secret Lenny, a competent forester, had been wondering Hyakuji’s woods for quite a while now, it was to be expected that he would eventually bump into it. A minor footpath had been made to the castle from all the new recruits that hoofed it to the castle, making the location even less concealed. A while ago Lenny had decided to step outside of his traditional hunting grounds and to try out this area; and now he was here, loaded down with biomass from his prey with his other Hunting haemonculi en route to their dens in the deeper parts of the woods, all that was left was to get home. His shoulder companion looked the boy over with sharp eyes. “It’s pretty impressive to see, though it’s a wonder how hard it is to find” He stated, noticing the direction Lelle was looking. He thought it looked like a nice place, but as a non-elemancer it would probably be impossible for him to ever get in. |

The rustle of undergrowth snapped the boy back to attention before anything was ever truly spoken. Stashing the phone quickly back into his pocket Lella turned around with wide eyes. His trip to the place hadn't really been all that, wonderful. With that thought he now had strangers sneaking up behind him. Hadn't his father always told him that being too loose would be dangerous? Whatever the real reason for his spooks the young photomancer raised his hands in a gesture that said 'please don't hurt me'. At least they remained that way until the other person spoke. Once he made his intentions known that was when his own eyes lingered onto the constructs on the man's back. Cocking his head to the side with a curious emotion washing over his face Lella stepped a little closer. "Are those. Are those things alive?" He had seen electronic inventions inside his father's study and around the school all the time. It was different when the things were finally brought up close. Each day the school had something different to bring to his attention. Today, it was this, tomorrow, who knew. Pausing for a few seconds he cleared his thoughts and finally let the questions the man had asked sink in. Lost? This boy was lost? Well, if he had stumbled upon this place by accident didn't that mean he wasn't supposed to be here? "Um, what. What were you searching for in the woods." Scratching his head Lella was only a few feet away from the boy now. He turned sideways so he was still able to keep an eye on the stranger as well as the castle. "Eh, yeah I suppose it is very majestic. I just arrived a few seconds ago. You, you don't belong here do you?" His eyes narrowed just a bit but only due to the fact that trust was something earned and he had a bad habit of giving it out freely. "Guess we can figure this out ourselves yeah?" Lella held out a hand to shake, smiling and chuckling out loud. The young boy hoped that maybe this other man could help him find out where he was supposed to go. Unless the man was hostile than, well the photomancer didn't even want to think about that. |

Lenny gave a interested smile when he saw Lella put his hands up. Lenny supposed he may have a bit of a frightening appearance, he looked a bit scruffy and earthy, it would be easy to take him as some unhinged wanderer though Lenny did not exactly fit into that description. As Lella seemed to be interested in the haemonculi on Lenny’s shoulder, however, Lenny detected most tensions were gone. “The thing on my shoulder is alive, the canisters on my back are, unfortunately, just metal” he answered to the photomancers curiosity. Lenny noted the approach, but made no effort to move from his position of leaning up against the tree. “And my search? I’ve been trying to catalogue most of the fauna in these woods. With the amount of supernatural things occurring in this area it is amazing what you can find. It’s a bit dazzling that no one has tried to list them all out” It was the same story he had told Suzume a while ago. True, but not entirely detailed enough to really explain what he did. But Lenny assumed it was enough, there was no real reason why this boy needed to know the specifics of what he did in the woods. Lella’s directness may have wounded some, but Lenny was not such a person. Though he didn’t appreciate it entirely he did respect the lack of timidness. When someone had last questioned his motives and identity it had been with subtlety and tact, Lenny supposed he was due for a change. “Do I belong in the woods? Yes. Do I belong in that castle over there? No. Though I suppose you’re probably due for the castle since you seem not have the look of the woods on you” Maybe a bit of a sharp answer, but Lenny thought it was an appropriate answer and retort. Lenny suspected that he knew the forest better than any other person in the city, it was just he had never really been able to work up the nerve to hunt on the Elemancer’s land before. But before long he figured he would know this section by heart. Lenny shook the hand with measured vitality, though he was a bit confused by the sudden chuckling and the ambiguous wording, “This?” he asked. Did he mean figuring out which way the city was? Or did he mean figuring a way into the castle? Lenny wasn’t really sure if he was able to do both. |

The young boy smiled. He had left the question open ended with the word 'this' because he didn't even know what it was that he wanted to do. There wasn't any immediate rush to go to the castle. Why should there be, he was making a new friend right here at the gates. Sure the guy before him had a strange way of living but Lella wasn't one to judge others. "Well, this could mean anything. What we should do now since I doubt you're allowed here and should not know it exists. It could mean how do we return you without alerting anyone else that you've arrived here unannounced. It is your choice." Lella kept his hand held out. He would not let a handshake he offered go unnoticed. Sure there may have been other things he could have done though he would have had to do it tomorrow. Lella was a social addict and he admitted that to himself daily. When one could control an element of nature, one was kept in line by rules. Before that time would come the photomancer was going to have as much fun as he could before that collar was placed over his neck. "My name is Lella by the way. And yes, it is feminine but its also fun." the young man let his hands quiver in the empty space between them. Though every few milliseconds his eyes would wander up to the living creation on the other man's shoulders. He was far more curious about what this man did for a living than getting into the castle at the moment. He felt that if anyone was going to drag him inside and give him an oriantation they would have already done that. |

Lenny’s hand, covered by a rough mitten, clasped onto Lella’s own and shook with a measured tempo. He found Lella to not be outwardly threatening, though he admitted they had been acquainted for a solid minute now so nothing was definate. Lenny grew a slight grin as he noticed Lella’s observation of his haemonculi; Lenny liked it when people took interests in his creations, it was similar to when an artist saw his public admire his painting. To Lenny his creations were art. “Well . . . I’ve been out here for a few days and I’ve only seen you. I’m not exactly certain the castle has the tightest watch on their own lands, hopefully sneaking out won’t be too difficult. The easiest way would be to follow the trails back, but those are the most likely to be watched. I’ll probably head through the woods since the town is . . .” He took a phone out of his pocket a quickly checked a map on it. “That way” he pointed, adjusting his canister strap as he stopped leaning against the tree. As for the part about the name, Lenny half agreed. The name was feminine, but it didn’t really bother him at all, but he had no idea how a name could be fun. He simply assumed it was one of those peculiar opinions that seemed to run so easily around this town. Lenny made no offer to give his name, Lella was still a stranger at this point. Looking around Lenny looked for the best point to leave the paths and return to the woods so he could bring his biomass and samples back home. |

Lella took the well answered question and observations to take a well earned look at the object before him. "So what is that. I've never seen anything quite like it." The boy lowered his hand slowly. There was a wonder in new things and right now the castle could certainly wait for another pupil. He was sure there were many photomancer's in there just waiting for him. Lella was more interested in this strange adventurer. How did one go out alone in the world for a few days and not get bored? He had been taught that people were like gold, and if that were true this one was just about silver. Looking back at the castle the boy shrugged before scanning the area behind the stranger. Yes, he was refusing to tell him his name but that didn't matter. Names came after an established gesture of friendship and that's just what he felt he needed. He was kind of brand new here and unsure of everything. Maybe this man had mapped out a safe route back to Hyakuji? That would be wonderful because his first trip had ended up, well, not so well. "So, you're out here mapping then? That's really cool. I'm actually new to this castle so I don't...wait you said sneaking out didn't you?" It had taken him a few seconds to realize this. Did this man think he was going to actually give up the opportunity to become a member of a club that was so secretive and hidden not many people were told about it?! "Ha, oh I get it. Never mind." Yeah it took him a few moments to fully comprehend the stranger's plan. He wasn't staying he was leaving. "Um, need help with anything before you head out, its not like I'm swamped with lessons or anything." he spoke with a tone that screamed how bored he was. He wanted to at least do something risky before he went inside the castle itself for the first time. |

“This” He pointed to the haemonculi on his shoulder, “It doesn’t really have a name yet, it’s one of the odder species I’ve found out here. I’ve been able to tame a few of them, but they are actually pretty docile even when they are wild. Their eyes a pretty sharp and they’re able to alert me to some of the more dangerous things out here. I’ve taken a habit of finding one when I go out” It sounded like the lecture of a biologist, but it was a line Lenny had practiced before. It was partially false, but Lenny wasn’t the type of person to give the whole truth to anyone in one instance. Lenny took a few steps, turning back to look at Lella. “I’m not exactly mapping per se, I’m trying to learn the area better but I’m not really recording anything. The way out is already there, you just need to know where to look” The creature on his shoulder seemed to rustle a but and arched its back, revealing its two pygmy hands, strange parodies of a human’s hands. It’s pointed nose twitched and it soon began to scan the nearby area with its sharp eyes. “People have come here before, they’ve left a few marks that can be followed. It’s just a matter of scent and sight” He noted the tinge of boredom in Lella’s voice. While Lenny appreciated the sentiment to assist, he didn’t really have a need for assistance. I mean he could carry a few canisters, but I can’t drag him away from his destination. He has to get to the castle . . . but maybe he can help me with something inside He had an idea, at least he thought he did, though it placed Lella at a bit of a risk. “Well, there isn’t really much I need before I head out, but as long as it doesn’t get you in trouble would you mind doing a favor for me in the castle? As I said earlier there isn’t really a solid map of the area, or a catalogue of native creatures. I’ve heard things about the archives here from a friend, if you were able to find a manuscript on the beasts of this forest or a map of the area and its more preternatural denizens, I would be more than thankful” It wasn’t exactly the most exciting task, but it would involve searching for information, and possibly information that was kept tight if some key loci of power in the forest were revealed by any of the castle’s maps. It would give Lenny an advantage, and give Lella a task to do. “Oh course you’re in no way obligated to if you don’t want to” It was really Lenny’s only idea of how Lella might help him at this very moment and not be drawn away from his studies. |

There was silent that followed after Lenny was finished speaking. It was all due to the many things flying through the young man's head at the moment. He had yet to even step inside the castle so how was he supposed to steal from them? Even more difficult how was he, a soon to be very low ranking elementalist, supposed to go to the archives alone. In a castle as big as this there was bound to be traps, bound to be lies and falsehoods like this man spoke before him. People who tended to use his easy, go about lifestyle to their advantage was annoying. It wasn't that he wasn't up for the task but if this man thought it would be a simple 'oh you can do this' request with a 'yep I can do that' reply he had something coming to him. "You are a bit pathetic there aren't you. Lost in the forest for a few days, it's apparent by looking at you that you are not lost. Those canisters you have are probably maps that you located already. Either you are gearing up for something sinister or you think I'm just a fool you can use as a pawn. I don't like being used as a pawn." as he spoke Lella began to circle the man before him slowly. He kept his distance a good two feet away but maintained eye contact on him all the same. All for the sake of safety, in case the man turned hostile Lella wanted a good distance to be able to react. His once happy go anything disposition was still there, just sheltered for the moment. If he was going to steal anything it was going to be for the good of the community, and not for one person's own mission. The thing on the back was stranger still. Lella caught the bluff about what it was easily but refused to say anything. He too had something to hide but he wasn't about to let this man know. If it was found out he'd be too easy to control even then. Maps and charts and such were a warriors upper hand. Lella chose the high road so he could examine what to do next. "So explain to me, why you need the maps, and why you think I should believe that creature came from the forest I just came out of a few minutes ago?" |

Lenny wasn’t sure what tone to settle on when Lella shifted stance. Anger, no not really. Befuddlement was probably a more accurate term though it didn’t settle on his face. To say the least Lenny was confused by the change, to him he had simply asked for someone to get him a book and a map, nothing quite treasonous. Then again he considered it was possible that getting books would be more simple than walking in and asking, he was unfamiliar with how things actually functioned in the elemancer archives though his friend had managed to get a book from there by asking. “I don’t think pathetic is really the most accurate word” He turned his body to face the circling boy. As a precaution he sent a psychic pulse to his Phylactery to begin gathering up a hunting party in case something happened. “I’m a bit more suited to this environment than you if my story is true, and as I observed earlier you don’t look the kind of person suited to navigating wilderness” Lenny disliked being insulted, it was part of his in built nature. Though he could negotiate out of this he wasn’t sure whether he wanted to or not. “I also see no point in asking for maps I already have, the canisters have samples from some of the species I’ve seen out here. It would simply be useful if there was a way of seeing if they know anything I don’t yet about the fauna of this area. If you don’t want to be used as a pawn you probably shouldn’t have offered help” Lenny began taking steps to cycle around Lella as well. He didn’t feel like he needed to keep distance from Lella but he felt the need to reciprocate the gesture, though there was something a bit mocking in the way he did it. “I have no sinister plans. Simply a desire to catalogue the creatures here. Now are you going to stop circling me like a passive aggressive hummingbird or are we just going to keep doing this until you’ve lost feeling in your legs?” |

Lella had to stop himself from breaking out in laughter. He really found himself someone who could match his quick thinking. His plan wasn't really set in stone but he needed to know if the guy before him could handle something quick changing. There was a shift in the air that was noticeable by Lella. It felt as if both of their guards seemed to clash into gear. Did he really come on as that threatening? The boy stopped mid step and fell down on his rear end holding his stomach. His mouth was wide open in laughter and tears fell from his eyes. There was no way he was called what he just was! A passive aggressive hummingbird? This man before him really found him threatening. It was a success. "Oh my god, you really jump the gun don't you." after laughing out that he took a deep breath and wiped the tears from his eyes. Lella wasn't really the type to attempt to deceive another but this was a really special place that not just anyone could know about. He knew that and he was new here."I'm sorry, I had to know. I just can't let anyone go about knowing this place. I'm sure you're aware but elementals are very powerful and if the location of this place is discovered by just anyone; you tell me, bad or good?" Lella narrowed his eyes a little and smiled. This would decide the ending of this meeting. What would the strange forest man before him say? 'Let's just hope he's not crazy like I can be sometimes. Can't have too many fearless men around here.' the young photomancer thought to himself as he waited for an answer. |

The shift in tone was jarring to Lenny. A look of slightly wrathful confusion froze on his face for a few seconds. He couldn’t recall ever seeing someone laugh this hard so suddenly. It appeared humor had been, to a degree, his savior in this situation. That smartness he brought from Seattle still had use here. Any tool as long as it works I suppose “I wouldn’t really call matching the tone jumping the gun” It was possible that Lenny misunderstood what was meant by the statement. To him it was a simple matter of matching blow for blow. It was natural for him to match the steps of his opponent, to match raise for raise so to say. As for the final statement, the question of good or bad, Lenny was unsure of how holistic an answer he could give. He couldn’t give a blanket statement, but he could state his thoughts on the matter. “While they are admittedly powerful a wider knowledge of their location would be bad. I note that I’m an exception, I found the place by accident, but then again I’m an exception in how well I know these woods. In short, anyone finding it is bad, me finding it isn’t really a concern” A bit longer than necessary, but an accurate reflection. Lenny was very direct in his way of living. He hunted, experimented, and traveled cautiously but not fearfully. His lens of living left him mostly uncluttered by major questions of morality which could be a massive benefit or a grievous deficit. But he had no illusions of his own strength, he kept to where he was strong and was wise enough to retreat from arenas where he was weak. |

Lella took another breath and brushed a hand through his hair. It was hard living in a world where you were often alone. Still smiling he listened to the stranger talk. The man was really just an honest explorer who stumbled upon the location. He probably found the place even quicker than he had. Thinking back for a moment he wasn't even quite sure he could remember the path he took. It was as if he just suddenly knew where to find the Elemancer Castle. "I'm sorry for the strange behavior I've been giving. I blame it on my medicine lately. I am running low and this usually happens. Anyhow, you want maps, I want a friend and a mentor. We might be of assistance to each other." Lella leaned back on his hands and sighed. The person before him was strange, but so was Lella. Both of them were kind of with-holding information from each other. It was obvious that one of them were going ot have to spill the beans. Lella was quickly trying to weigh his options. He could help the boy before him, and get nothing back for it. It was obvious that the man before him could really help him if he ever got lost and if the man before him was ever in the dark Lella could help him out there. Then again, he was still trying to get a wrap over himself. "Help me up, then we can finally get down to business. No more. Um, acting." The photomancer looked up at the stranger. His eyes kind of gave off an odd glint of inspiration. It was obvious that the boy was smarter than he acted and maybe a bit stranger too, but Lella was harmless. He just tried to give others a laugh, a smile, a chance to be something more. He held up one of his hands to get help up. |

Another one of these unstable ‘medicine’ people. Ehh, he can’t really be as unhinged as Logan I suppose Lenny though silently, remembering his pill popping siberian acquaintance. “It’s always good to have a bit of assistance” He remarked in confirmation, content to let a more stable path of conversation take over. Lenny was unsure of what to make of Lella. He considered Lella to be lacking in harm, but not really of the greatest substance. To put it simply he didn’t really get a stable reading off of him, a symptom of their brief meeting? But whoever this boy was Lenny grabbed his hand with his gloved mit and pulled him up, showing no great strength or weakness. “You’re mistaken if you think I’m acting” he stated after the boy had gained his footing. Lenny was simply acting the way he always did when he met somebody in the woods. Essentially Lenny was a poacher, a hunter. In addition his own secrets were hidden in the deeper parts of the woods, it was best to simply remain the unknown woodsman, the kind that some in Hyakuji remembered but didn’t know. Lenny’s own eyes seemed somewhat focused though they weren’t really locked onto anything. He seldom used his own eyes anymore, instead using the vision of the creature on his shoulder. That very same beast’s sharp eyes were watching Lella for sudden movements with a rigid face and an almost hound-like nose. He knew remain cautious with what one could find in the woods. |

Brushing off some dirt from his clothes Lella took in a deep breath and sighed. Sometimes he kind of just let his emotions overwhelm him and this was one of those situations. Life had taught him that you had to be cautious when meeting new people. No not life, his family. Some people you just couldn't judge by looking in their eyes into their soul. Acting was what everyone did and if the strange boy before him didn't realize that, Lella would have to change that. "Well if you're not acting then why not tell me your name? Or are you the type to." He raised a balled fist and opened it quickly releasing a small orb of light that jetted past the strangers head quickly disappearing in the light around them. "Jet off with no intention of returning?" He had traveled around the school grounds and many people he met were just as cautious at giving out their identity as well. The whole town was full of secrets. Was he the only person here who didn't have a history to uncover? Not waiting for too much of an answer Lella strode next to Lenny and placed his hands on his hips. With a proud smile he looked over the forest. Nature was a very interesting place and this 'interesting' person just walked out of it. There was no walking away from it, something wanted them to meet. "Let me get this straight, you want maps. Maps of what exactly?" Lella casually glanced back towards Lenny. He had noticed the boy was a bit out of it, then again with that thing on his shoulder who wouldn't be. |
