Heleth smiled in mild satisfaction as the fox didn't gain extra points despite his explaination. Serves you right insulting people like that!
The red demon made sure her fangs were clearly visible as that was an indirect victory. No need to say or add anything. He was punished already.

Beside her, Aya simply raised an eyebrow. At least any kind of petty revenge she could try to scheme was put down by the teacher's actions.

"Look, a fox playing the hound!" she whispered to Aya with her usual grin.

The white haired girl stood silent. Maybe the teacher's intervention prevented nothing after all.

No points? Shun's response left Eva mildly confused, hadn't she given the correct answer? He said he didn't count responses she got from her data uplink, but how else was she going to find the answer? The gynoid had no idea what the youkai were since it wasn't part of her programming, so it stood to reason that she was to find the answer by any means necessary, no?

Well in the end it didn't matter much to Eva, if it mattered at all. She could easily ace the exam by memorizing the material (downloading the data beforehand and storing it in her memory banks), and she wasn't even part of this class. The gynoid was here to observe the lecture in Sophia's place, that was her primary objective, any other knowledge gained was considered a bonus.

Speaking of bonuses... Eva certainly didn't expect to see the young man known as Ryou to transform into a fox, or transform at all. Shun had mentioned that Ryou was a youkai as well, which led Eva to believe that youkais were capable of transforming into other beings, and she added the data entry into her memory.

Come to think of it, their target was a youkai as well, one capable of transforming into snow if legends were to be believed. "We should proceed with caution. Being a youkai may not be enough to deter an attack." The gynoid fell in line after Ethan and switched on her thermal vision. The presence of a yuki-onna will probably result in significantly lower temperatures than the surrounding area, so she kept an eye out for anything that's suspiciously cold

So some of them were perverts?

It was probably more surprising that someone else actually knew what Weiss was talking about. Yang didn't exactly look like the otaku type, but looks can be deceptive.

"Is the one who froze this river a pervert?"

That is all Weiss had to say about the issue.

Although, at least Weiss had finally stood up, although, she was still reading whatever manga it was she was reading. Looked like she was going to walk and read at the same time...

Wah!

A fox was there before him, but. How could? Oh the world was full of surprises and though Lella knew this it still surprised him. There was nothing that couldn't surprise the photomancer. Rubbing his forehead he just muttered to himself about being stupid. Though that's why he was in the class to begin with. It didn't matter though, he realised his stupidity. Why would smelling something do anything for him anyway?

Eh, didn't matter to Lella though. "Never mind, smell is nothing. Let's go find ourselves a." He was going to say the name but forgot it. His other classmates had distracted him to the point where he was going to say perverted fox hound woman. That didn't quite sound right to him. "Find ourselves. Whatever it is we are looking for!"

Yeah that was appropriate. Maybe when they finished the lesson he would have redeemed himself. Lella smiled a cheeky smile and chuckled to himself. How was he supposed to make friends if he wasn't educated like the rest of them? He felt a bit sorry for the boy who started cautioslly walking after the fox. Oh yeah, they were hunting that's where they were going.

"Wait for me shy boy and fox guy!" he shouted as he skipped right next to Ethan. Holding a hand out he giggled. "There isn't anything to be afraid of. This class is full of people who can protect you."

Malik stood close to the class as he listened closely and was prepared for what might happened. Like all the other students, he wore his uniform with the exception of a tie. Malik thought of it being to formal for him. This was Hyakuji High, technically anything could happen in the midst of this supernatural haven for gifted children. Malik gazed softly and without an hostility towards the youkai dragon. He was expecting his teacher to be human, but instead it was a mystical, intellectual dragon. The young electromancer thought the school couldn't get anymore interesting. He really did liked it here. Everyone seemed so free, active, and joyful. The boy was wondering when he will get to show his abilities as well. It not everyday you see a boy who could create and control lightning.

As he continued to stand right where he was, he proceeded to listen to the teacher and waited what he wanted the students, including him to do. This was he first of his classes and he really does enjoy it. Malik found interest in the supernatural as well as the paranormal, which were thing concerning ghosts and the after-life. He was fascinated by these kinds of subject sense he was young.

'I do wonder what we're going to do next right now.' Malik thought, anticipating the next action of his dragon teacher. There was something else he had on his mind, however. His teacher was supposed to be Hiro, but instead a dragon was here to take his place. Malik suspects that there was certain business Hiro-sensei had to attend to. For now, he will listen to Shun-sensei. He gladly waited fr what should be done next or what the teacher wanted him to do.

"...I dunno, but do you really want to find out though...?" He had to answer warily to Weiss' question first just because she's so insistent on it. Which is a bit worrisome but never mind that.

And then they're off! One study group trudging through the snow-ridden forest led by a fox and leaving behind the two kappa waving them goodbye. Just think of it as your ordinary field trip, except with snow. It's not exactly an ordeal at first, though after a while of walking with Ryou leading them around by a trail of scent that would be familiar to him as something that's light and stinging cold, they would find the snow getting much thicker and the air much colder. Easily a sign that they're probably going in the right direction, though not exactly a pleasant one.

Soon enough they would come to a clearing. The snow around them are so dense they could step on it like concrete floor. The trees around were completely bare of leaves, and visibility was clouded by the unnaturally strong gust of cold wind and snow blowing around the area. In the middle of the clearing, they would find...

"...Hm?"

A woman. Long flowing black hair that reaches to her feet, with skin as pale as the snow around her, clad in her matching white kimono that seemed to make the snow around her look gray. The moment the group had stepped into the clearing she noticed them, turning around to face them in mild surprise, followed by curiosity. "...Why, apparently I have some odd visitors for today," She said, her voice was light and gentle, but having the spine-tingling coldness that would make any man shiver to their bones. "A dragon, a fox, a demon, a living doll and a witch, with humans accompanying them?" She said as her eyes lingered to each of them, as though scrutinizing their- wait where is Shun?

"OKAY, GOOD LUCK YOU GUYS! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT! REMEMBER, PLAY NICE AND DON'T BE MEAN!"

...WHEN THE HELL DID YOU GET WAY OVER THERE?! ARE YOU RUNNING AWAY OR SOMETHING?!

After his journey with the group through the snowy forest, Malik looked to the woman that stood before him. She seemed like a friendly person, but there was a chill in her voice aside from the gentleness presented earlier. He wondered what this woman was doing out here in the snow. She seemed to don't mind the cold at all. Her eyes seemed to examine the group as she looked on. Malik then, noticed that his teacher, Shun-sensei wasn't with the group. He looked around to find his whereabouts. When he spotted the dragon, he was a good distance away from the group. Malik could still here him at this range, though he did wondered why was he over there in the first place. He turned back to women before him. Maybe she was the reason why Shun-sensei was standing so far from the group.

The young electromancer took a deep breath and exhaled. He decided he should talk to the woman and try to make friends with her. Shun-sensei said to be nice and not to be mean to her. Possibly the display of rudeness or insincerity could lead to conflict. Malik started to walk up to her, he eyes showing great courage as he did so. Considering this is winter, He wore a long, warm coat, which was cyan blue.

'Like Shun-sensei said, be nice to her and don't be a jerk. I still wonder who this woman is. Is there a reason she is out in this cold and how is not bothered by it? Maybe this woman is not what she entirely seems.' He thought as he approached the mysterious woman, wondering of the reason she is here in this forest. Malik decides to start the conversation with a friendly greeting. It would be a great start after all.

"Hello there, my name is Malik Roberts. It's nice to meet you." He said, extending his right hand for a handshake, "What is your name, I may ask?" The boy awaited the woman's reaction for his display of kindness. He didn't know what it might be, but hopefully they will start out on good terms. She seemed nice, despite the coldness in her voice mix in with the gentleness.

Weiss was still reading her manga as she followed the class. It was really amazing how she managed to avoid trees, and keep her footing on the terrain while not at all paying attention to where she was going.

When they reached there destination, Weiss didn't even take her eyes off from the manga. Either it was an incredibly interesting manga, or Weiss was just being Weiss. Probably the latter.

"Our teacher wanted to ask you on a date since he is fed up being a lolicon, but he's ran away already. He's that dragon guy over there. His name is Shun. His hobbies are sleeping in the park and sleeping in the park."

Wait, what?

It would be a lie to say that Ethan was totally fine and calm about walking into a youkai's domain. In fact, instead of fine and calm, the words panicky and scared-out-of-his-mind better suited the boy. Regardless, he trudged on in relative bravery.

Up until he saw the snow woman of course.

The instant his eyes fell on the yuki-onna, a cold chill worked its way through his body. It was a feeling he was quite familiar with, a fear that would burrow into his body and chain him to where he stood. The only difference would be the drastic drop in temperature, making the symptoms of fear even worse.

'Ah, so scary! So scary! The snow! The atmosphere! It's so cold! It's so scary!' He thought. '...but the teacher is her so we are definitely-'

"OKAY, GOOD LUCK YOU GUYS! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT! REMEMBER, PLAY NICE AND DON'T BE MEAN!"

'Gosh darn it...GAHASGAHGPAFH! We're gonna die! We're gonna be frozen for about 1000 years, then thaw, and then die due to culture shock! She's going to eat our livers! She'll take our heat! She'll force one of us to marry her and then we'll face the real world, which will eventually lead to turning to alcohol to sooth our worries and then drunk driving and then death!'

The boy continued to panic and think of increasingly strange and potentially deadly scenarios in which he could fall into. It took a good five minutes before he calmed down.

'Ok...ok, calm yourself. Nothing bad has happened yet. In fact, her responses seem rather neutral. So, as long as no one says anything stupid-'

"Our teacher wanted to ask you on a date since he is fed up being a lolicon, but he's ran away already. He's that dragon guy over there. His name is Shun. His hobbies are sleeping in the park and sleeping in the park."

'...YOU!'

Hoping to quickly shove Weiss's strange words out of the youkai's head, Ethan quickly wrote a note and held it up to the white clad woman.

[Miss, we have come here in order to negotiate for a kappa(?) and his daughter. It seems as though you have frozen a nearby waterfall, which was a vital space for the kappa. May we ask for you to defrost the waterfall?]

“Shun is not looking for a date.” Eva interjected quickly, a little too quickly some might say. She only noticed that Ethan was holding up a sign after her outburst and stepped back. “The river was frozen by supernatural means, and has proven to be very resilient. Seeing how there are no other persons capable of such a feat in the vicinity, we have reason to suspect that you may be the one responsible.”

The gynoid tilted her head slightly as she regarded the yuki-onna. She didn’t seem malicious like the ones those in the stories she found would imply, but looks can be deceiving, so she remained on guard. “What is your purpose in freezing the river? Perhaps we can reach some sort of compromise.”

Flames rose up around the fox as the kitsune turned his eyes on him, melting a circle in the snow. They cleared, revealing Ryou not as the fox he had been while leading them through the forest, and not even as the human-looking student that had come into the class with them, but as his true form, his single red tail sweeping out from behind him and a pair of fox ears on top of his head. He scowled at the Yuki-Onna, slitted green eyes narrowing.

Truth was, Ryou was terrified. But there was a thing about kitsune. They knew how to act, and how to play games. Yuki-Onna were proud, powerful, and dangerous creatures. They needed to be handled with the utmost respect and civility.

"Cut the crap. You know why we're here."

...Then again, there was probably a reason why Ryou had been kicked out of his forest. The young youkai blinked as he heard Shun shout from somewhere far away from them, and his head swiveled around, turning towards him. "Hey!" he shouted. "You useless bastard, get back here!"

Oh yes, there was probably a very good reason why Ryou had been kicked out of his forest.

The demon registered what other people said. Obviously Weiss's words caused her a bit of irritation, but the student known as Eva already dismissed her words.
But, after the ill behaved fox expressed himself, she decided it was time to speak.

"My, my" Heleth's voice came as a sharp whisper behind Ryou "What a disrespectful creature. How can he pretend some respect from others if he expresses like that?"
The demon intentionally whispered too loud, because she wanted to be heard.

Aya took a step aside. She got it: Heleth didn't like that student, and, despite she had somewhat of a point this time, she could really keep it to herself.

"Please excuse this rude canid" Heleth said as she stepped forward, speaking to the youkai "I'm Heleth Mastema, just a weak demon tasked to solve the problem with the river that has been frozen not so far from here. Me and my coursemates here have been told that this was possibly your doing."
Heleth kept a smiling, diplomatic face as she spoke. Diplomacy was her only weapon. She certainly wasn't strong enough to order a Yuki-onna to undo her doings!
"Maybe Eva's conclusions are a bit rushed, but in the case you indeed froze the river...is there something we can do to have you reconsider and have it melt?"

Aya didn't speak. The short demon intermission clearly was a double attempt to improve the situation and discredit the fox.
Well played Heleth, really...

Ah...

...What an eccentric lot...

Well. At least one of them is anyway... You know who you are.

"So he's not actually here to ask me on a date..." ...For some odd reason she actually sounded quite disappointed when Weiss' claim was shot down by the doll's. From the looks of it, they were all only here to ask about a frozen river of a sort and her purpose of freezing it...? "...Oh, you mean the river just past the waterfall?" Just from that at least it confirms that she does know what they're all referring to. Ignoring Malik's introduction and offer for a handshake (which in any case is not the form of greeting Japanese people, let alone a conservatively ancient Japanese youkai, would be used to) and holding back from throwing the rude fox into a coffin of ice (helped only by the Demon's quick save), she pondered slightly, tapping her chin with her long, pale finger before answering.

"I refuse to,"

Well, you can't say no one probably didn't expect it. "If anything, why is that kappa not here in person-... kappason?"

...What?

Perhaps something to be paid attention to is how she explicitly asked for the kappa himself.

That was a quick response. Of course, the yuki-onna froze the river for a reason so she wouldn’t unfreeze it just like that. “Then could you tell us why you froze the river?” Come to think of it she had mentioned the kappa too, perhaps she wanted to talk to him. “Perhaps it is related to the kappa you mentioned?” Kinda begs the question though, what does a yuki-onna want with a kappa? Did he wrong her somehow? Maybe he owes her money? Or maybe she's his wife and he hasn't been coming home?

... What? Stranger things have happened in Hyakuji.

The young electromancer can see she was ignoring his greeting to her. It was probably because it wasn't the right custom. He should have bowed to her in respect instead of giving her a handshake. Though, Malik isn't initially japanese, since he moved here when he was 10 years old. Despite living in Hyakuji for the next 6 years, he still had trouble with certain little detail in japanese culture at times. Still, he has become very fluent in the native language and can also write it on paper. As a matter of fact, Malik had always been interested in Japan since he was young and before he moved here.

The boy retracted his hand to himself, seeing as the introduction was having little to no effect on the woman. Now that Malik got a better look at her, he recognized her as a yuki-onna, a youkai he read in japanese folklore. He probably had been too busy trying to make peace with her in the first place rather than determine her race. As the woman heard the question referring to her freezing the waterfall, she revealed that she was the one who froze it. She asked a question in a tone that showed remembrance of her previous actions, which resulted in what was happening at this moment. Malik watched her thinking over the request to unfreeze the river. To his expectancy, she simply refused. He supposed he should have seen that coming. This woman was calm, but certainly stubborn when it came to her own goal. The electromancer let out a small sigh.

'This is most certainly not going to be easy convincing her.' He thought as his mind concocted a way to have the yuki-onna restore the river back to it's wet, flowing state again. He know it will not be easy getting a youkai such as her to do this task. Malik knows he can't just leave the river frozen. If he tried to fire lightning bolts at the ice, he would ending up fighting the yuki-onna, so a battle was out of the question. He is not sure how powerful she is. Also, she is a woman and Malik found it hard to fight against a female due to his chivalry.

The boy was brought from his thoughts when the woman asked of the whereabouts of a kappa. This certain topic is giving Malik an idea. If they could locate this kappa, then the yuki-onna might be happy enough to unfreeze the river. He turned his gaze into the direction of the girl named Eva. He walked up to her to have a private conversation.

"Excuse me, may talk to you in private?" He asked as he walked a good distance from the yuki-onna, so she would not be able to listen, "I have an interesting idea, if we can find this kappa the woman speaks of, then maybe she might feel accepting unfreeze the river. It is possibly a long shot, but it is worth trying. Do you think we should do it?" As he explained the his plan in detail, it was a good idea indeed. Still, there is a risk of it failing. Things could possibly go from bad to worst, if they are unable to find the kappa in question. Once he was done expressing his thoughts on what action to take next, he waited for Eva's response.
