Yukari and Xie Several things happened at once as soon as the pair burst through the doors. The ninja on-guard took a step back, taken aback by Xie's outburst. He recovered quickly, and before the boy's shout could die down, had charged forward, a blade in his hand as he aimed it quickly and efficiently at Xie's chest. A small figure robed in black leaped down from above, grabbing hold of the ninja by the shoulder and pulling him away in the instant before the blade connected. Suzume drew the ninja down and back as she landed, pivoting quickly on her heel. Her right hand went up, swift and silent, the hidden blade beneath her sleeve engaging as she pressed the palm of her hand against the back of her opponent's head. He twitched, then went still. She withdrew the blade, the edge glistening with blood before it returned to its sheath, and finished her turn, pulling the corpse in front of her as two shinobi in the center of the room sprang into action, one of them flicking his wrist at her and letting loose a volley of blades. She pushed the dead ninja away, launching herself into a roll. The knives skittered uselessly against the tiles, and she let one of her own throwing knives land into her hand as she ran towards the nearest ninja. She raised the blade, aiming it at his neck, and he quickly blocked it with one of his own, the clang of metal against metal sounding in the small room as the two of them clashed together and then came apart. It had happened in a matter of seconds, blindingly fast. Someone, the shaking robed girl in the center of the room, screamed. Suzume hadn't intended to get involved, but Xie and Yukari had forced her hand. She'd read the opposing ninjas' intentions as soon as the two of them burst through the door, knew that they meant to kill them--knew that they still did. Suzume pulled her head back, dodging a knife slash to the face, and watched helplessly as the second ninja, the one guarding the back entrance, sprang forward. He drew his sword, a straight-edged ninjato from its sheath, moving towards Yukari. She didn't cry out--there wasn't time. Instead, she dropped down to the ground and turned, attempting to sweep her opponent's feet out from under him. She hoped Yukari and Xie could react in time. Seth and Kayo Meanwhile, the five police officers, including the one that had ended up with a kimono draped over his uniform, cornered Seth and Kayo on the top floor, glaring at them. They formed a half-circle, edging the pair against the wall and away from the doors, as the captain, in the center, reached out a hand and wiped white geisha make-up from his face. Wait, how that that happened in the first place? "That is enough!" he said, and to say he was annoyed would be an understatement. The poor guy looked almost purple. "I hope you two have a good explanation for this." The two of them really better start thinking of their excuse now. The game, it appeared, was up. However, just before the policemen could close in on them fully--when all but Oshiro, who was close enough to touch Seth, were just a few feet away--a shout sounded from down the corridor, interrupting them. The group of policemen looked up, watching as one of them, one of the pair of young men who had gone to check the tapes, came running down the hallway, breathing hard. "Captain!" he yelled, raising his hand. "Captain! Cap--!" A dark figure descended on him, steel flashing through the air. The dagger pierced his chest, a flower of dark blood blooming on the front of his uniform. The ninja withdrew the blade, coolly efficient, and swept it out to the side in a flourish, splattering blood against the tiles of the museum floor. He turned his eyes on them, the eyes the only thing visible from underneath his black robes. Behind him, two others watched, visible only if someone was really looking, which the policemen were not. It was clear what had just happened. The police had found the evidence they wanted on the tapes, and because of that, the attacking ninja did not plan on letting them leave. It was just business, but just business didn't explain the glee in the eyes of the ninja who walked forward, eyes fixing on the police. The four policemen reached for their weapons, stunned, and Oshiro took a step forward, putting herself quietly in front of Kayo and Seth. "Well," said the ninja, the voice revealing that the attacker was female. "What do we have here?" Strictly speaking, the ninja were not supposed to speak, but her voice betrayed her. It was more than a job for her. She was enjoying this. Her eyes gleamed as she glanced at the policemen preparing to flank her, and she raised her blade. If Seth or Kayo were observant enough, they might have noticed that her weapon gleamed darkly, with something other than blood. Poison? Oshiro tilted her head, looking back at Seth and Kayo. Her eyes fixed on Seth. "Get out of here," she said, the first time she had spoken that night. She inclined her head towards Kayo. "Both of you. Now." The situation had changed. Now, it looked like she was planning to buy them time to escape. |

"You piece of-!" Xie shouted, surprisingly surprised that the ninja would charge at him. However, he was more angry that not only did the robed men not have the decency to pay for his coffee, but had the balls to attack him, of all people! Taking a step back, Xie drew his hand, cocking his fingers at the approaching ninja. But, he wasn't fast enough; the boy was no gunslinger. Heck, Xie was never even trained for combat. The hooded man had rolled initiative and the blade was now only a mere feet from going through flesh- And then, well, something happened. A form suddenly dropped from above, diving upon the ninja before him like a hawk. At first Xie had thought the thing to be some kind of giant black cat, but upon reminding himself how stupid that was, the boy was able to discern the figure as... another ninja. Though this one was fighting with the other ninja, so that was a good thing. snip An odd sound, and one of the cloaked figures went down. A pool of red began swelling about the fresh corpse. Someone in the other room had screamed, a woman perhaps, but Xie gave no thought to that. Someone had just died. Sure, life was cheap, and the Alchemist was probably the furthest thing you can have from a humanist, but was it so cheap that they would rather die than give him five hundred yen? He shook his head. Obviously, this was way past getting back his coffee money now. These robed people in front of him were trained killers; expert at ending lives. But, Xie didn't came here intending to die either. Seeing the remaining man run at Yukari, Xie drew out an annoyed expression. Partly because that idiotic silent girl had completely disregarded his warning and decided to stalk him down the stairs, but mostly because even that one would rather attack him then give him his coffee money back! Yeah, Xie can get rather hung up upon monetary gain. "You're going to fight over a cup of coffee!? The hell is wrong with you?!" A verbal warning shot, but he doubt that curses and spazz would stop a ninja with a blade. Training his hand to the approaching ninja, Xie pointed his index and middle ginger forward, whilst drawing in the others into a close fist. An ignition of prana. This was magecraft. In the next moment, an arc of lightning shot out from his outstretched fingers, flying towards the man. However, regardless of the fate of the man on the ground, Suzume would find Xie's remaining hand pointed at her. Sure, she had just saved their lives, but experimentation had showed that three out of three robed individuals were hostile (four out of four if neither of the two before spilled his coffee). "Did you spill- What the heck is going on here?" Xie cussed at the kunoichi, stopping himself just in time from saying something stupid. Evidently, he still had caffeine on his mind. Especially considering that he had completely ignored the ninja that Suzume had been fighting earlier. Or did people really die over a cup of coffee? Edited by Fallen_shinku, Jan 3 2014, 04:50 PM.

Although she was a warrior, Yukari was totally unprepared for ninjas and for the moment was acting more like a little girl who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Everything moved so fast. First the ninjas attacked, then some woman descended from the ceiling and fought off one of the ninjas, defeating them. The second ninja had tried to go after Yukari but then the rude boy...shot lightning from his fingers...but thats impossible...people can't shoot lightning from their fingers...right? As the boy yelled about coffee to the girl who had defeated the first ninja, Yukari finally snapped out of her stunned daze and felt ashamed of herself for freezing up like that. Her attention for now was completely focused on the unconscious body of the ninja that had tried to go after, she had not yet realized the fate of the other ninja. Realizing the danger of her situation, Yukari approached the ninja's form and reached down to try and take their straight sword. It wasn't the curved boken or katana she was used to but in this situation she would rather have a sword in her hands than watch helpless again while others have to come to her rescue. |

Well, they're in a pinch now. "Well... maybe there are invisible hairdressers around..." He answered the cop's question nervously, more to lighten the mood than anything else as he took off the afro wig and the mid-1900s disco outfit in favor of his usual butler outfit. God knows how long they had actually been running and he doesn't even know where did they end up being. Bit of a problem considering they're now cornered and are probably going to get thrown to the big house later for questioning. He half-considered fighting his way through them... ...Though apparently that wasn't quite necessary. Well... less 'no longer necessary' and more 'the situation has changed'. Well, now he kinda wish Kayo really had been lying about the ninjas. "Not sure if this is a blessing or a curse..." He muttered under his breath, making sure the girl is nice and hidden behind him as the cops kept the wall around them but turned to face the approaching assailant instead. They've got to be kidding, right? What can a bunch of policemen do against a ninja? ...Pardon his lack of faith for the police, but unless they show that they can actually do more than just handcuff people he's not going to let them do the nasty work. "Absolutely not, shorty. Why don't YOU and the rest get out of here instead?" And just to make his point he grabbed Oshiro by the shoulder and shoved her back with a surprising amount of strength for someone of such average stature. He did the same for the other four policemen, taking over Oshiro's spot and cracking his knuckles while facing the attacker. "I'm sure five of you can take care of one little girl better than one guy can, right?" Grinning doesn't seem to help in alleviating his nervousness, dammit. "I'll tell you what we've got here," He added to the group of assassins, his hand raised and beckoning for them to come at him. "One young man you never want to meet after dark," |

~Sugar-Coated Insanity of HYPERNESS~

Kayo watched as the policeman fell, a surprised expression frozen on his face. She saw the dark stain seep into his clothes, heard the sound he made before he was eternally silenced. It was a sound she was sure she would take to her grave. It was her fault he had died. If she hadn't asked them to investigate, this would never had happened. A part of her believed that there wasn't a real ninja. That it was just a petty thief dressed like one. She was so very wrong. The ninja before them was real. Kayo felt cold as she stared at the scene in front of her. Because she had thrown around her power, an innocent man had died. A man with a family. With friends. And maybe, Kayo thought as she glanced at Oshiro, more would follow. Kayo stepped aside as Seth walked in front of her, shoving Oshiro back. She stared blankly at his back for a moment, trying to register what was happening. Seth... intended to fight. To protect them. To protect her. The girl peeked around him at the ninja, the one who drew blood. Her eyes were immediately drawn to her blade, coated with that horrible red liquid. Kayo stared at it, her eyes unfocused. Something about it seemed off. What was wrong with her? Why was this happening? She... she had indirectly killed a man. But now was not the time to dwell on it. If she didn't focus, more people might die. She wasn't very strong. At least, not as strong as Seth. But she had other skills. Skills that she would need to use if they were to have any chance of survival. Kayo shook her head, trying to erase the image of the policeman as he died. Her focus zoomed in on the blade. "It's poisoned..." she told Seth, her voice barely above a whisper. She wasn't going to leave. The best option, for all of them, was to stay put. In the shadows, Kayo caught sight of two other ninjas. If the six of them ran (the policemen and Kayo), those ninjas could easily pick them off. It wasn't as if she needed to be at close range in order to fight. Kayo took a deep breath and fished her calligraphy brush out of her bag. Her hands were shaking as she tried to open the jar of ink. She commanded herself to calm down, and eventually, she managed to open it. The girl dipped her brush in the dark ink and pulled it out, drops scattering over the floor. Quickly, she drew a complicated symbol in the air directly behind Seth. The ink didn't fall, instead, it glowed blue before disappearing into Seth's back. "Clear." That calligraphy would heighten Seth's senses for a little while, allowing him to react quicker. With it, he would immediately be able to see the two other ninjas clearly. Kayo hoped it would even the odds with the speedy assassins. She stuffed her brush, now out of ink, back into her bag and drew out her sketchbook. She held it out in front of her and flipped through it, her thumb running over all one hundred pages. The instant her thumb touched a page, it glowed blue and detached itself, forming a paper crane, so that when she had reached the end of the book, one hundred cranes floated around her. They stayed there, circling her. Kayo wouldn't attack just yet. It was best if she waited, to see what happened. She didn't say anything more, letting her cranes make her threat.

Yukari and Xie
Lightning shot through the air at Xie's command, heading towards the ninja attacking Yukari. The ninja's eyes darted towards Xie, and he jumped back just in time, the bolt of lightning shooting the air where he had been standing and slamming straight into the opposite wall. The ninja's sword clattered to the ground, the ninjato released as soon as the lightning bolt came through, to avoid any conduction of electricity. It appeared as though after the first ninja's death, they wouldn't be taking any chances. If Yukari wanted to pick the sword up off the ground, she would be able to. The ninja, however, wasn't simply going to let her get away with it. He drew a pair of knives, one in each hand, and charged in after her, one hand slashing out at her throat while the other aimed for her torso. Suzume, meanwhile, froze as she saw Xie raise his other hand to her out of the corner of her eye. It was just a moment's hesitation, nothing more, but it was more than enough for her opponent to push himself up off the ground, a well-placed kick striking her torso and causing her to stumble back. The kick knocked the wind out of her, disorienting her enough that she saw stars as her opponent got to his feet, pulling his sword from its sheath. He raised it up over his head as he advanced, gripping it in both hands and cutting downwards. Suzume grit her teeth, sidestepping the sword strike. The blade whistled through the air, she felt the wind of its passing as it missed her by a hair. She jumped back, throwing the two knives in her hand at her opponent, one after another. The first, she threw at his face, the second, she threw at his neck. He moved his sword, cutting through the air in two smooth motions and knocking both knives aside. They clattered to the ground, skittering across the tiled floor. Suzume spared a moment to glance at Xie. She didn't have enough time to signal to him that she was a friend, but she hoped that he wouldn't shoot, not while she was fighting. At the moment, all she could do was hope. Her opponent was good, better than the ninja attacking Yukari. If she slipped up even once, she was dead. She drew her wakizashi, deflecting her opponent's sword strike as he stepped in and swung, and going for the throat. "Well, this is a mess," said the other ninja in black robes, the only one that had yet to attack. Xie, forgotten for now, would probably be in the best position to notice him. The man seemed strangely calm about the ordeal, looking over the fights and the dead ninja as though this was simply something to be expected. The tallest of the hooded robed ones didn't appear to think so. He turned towards the man. "Tengu-san, orders?" he asked. His voice sounded like that of someone trying to control themselves, but who was on the verge of either panic or rage. "Patience, Satoru-kun," said Tengu. He drew his own sword, holding it loosely in one hand but not moving to attack anyone. "Focus on what we came here for. Find the artifact." "Tch." Satoru turned brusquely, looking at one of the other figures. "Ayame!" he barked. The other hooded figure, the one who wasn't shaking, reached up a slender hand, a paper ofuda between her two fingers. The paper began to glow, the talisman disappearing and becoming replaced by an orb of light. She cupped the orb in both hands, closing her eyes... It was almost as though she was searching for something. Seth and Kayo "Hmm..." The kunoichi looked at Seth, as though amused by him. She certainly didn't seem at all phased by his show of strength. "Is that so? Am I supposed to be scared of a man hiding behind little girls?" She certainly didn't look scared. If anything, she looked almost...excited. Her eyes moved from Seth to the girl behind him, watching as Kayo cast magic. There might have been recognition there, for a moment. But she turned her attention away from Kayo, looking back at Seth. Oh, this was too good. She might not even have to lift a finger. "Kill them," she said, inclining her head towards the police. The two ninja in hiding behind her sprang forward, blades drawn. They moved past Seth, heading straight for Kayo and the policemen clustered behind him. The assassins raised their blades, aiming to strike-- --and the earth buckled beneath them, a wall of stone breaking through the museum floor and protecting Kayo and the four members of the police. The ninja slammed uselessly into the barrier, blades coming loose from the impact and skittering across the museum floor. Two pillars shot up from the earth, beneath the ninjas' feet. One of them was struck by the pillar and went flying, slamming into a wall. The other dodged, cat-quick, and darted back to the kunoichi's side. Oshiro came to stand next to Seth, an annoyed look on her face as she worked out a crick in her neck. "Never," she told him, eyes narrowed. "do that again." The kunoichi's eyes narrowed in rage, and she rushed at them, the tip of her blade pointing straight at Seth's heart. |

"Urk-" A pulse erupted upon the Chinese guy's head as his query went unanswered. Seriously, were people really dieing over coffee? He knew that shinobi had some sort of code of honor or something, but this was taking it a bit to far. Or was that something else entirely? Thankfully, despite being a headstrong and brash individual, Xie was also an genius. And it didn't take a genius to entertain the possibility that Suzume, perhaps, was not in cohesion with the other ninjas that had infiltrated the museum. After all, she had killed one of them, and was currently fighting another. And his threat to her allowed his opponent to gain ground. Xie frowned, angered at his mistake. However, though it meant that Suzume wasn't apart of the others, it didn't mean she wasn't dangerous. After all, she had killed someone in cold blood. "Hey! Girl!" Xie shouted back at Yukari, that long-haired stalker that had followed him down the stairs. His tone was angry, and what he referred to as might've been a little bit rude, but he didn't really had a name to go off of. Besides, manners was probably the last thing on your mind when you're being attack by ninjas. What was he, French royalty? "If you're not trying to get yourself killed, go back up those stairs! Now!" the alchemist shouted, nodding a head backwards. It would seem that Xie didn't recognize her as a student of Hyakuji. Then again, the Alchemist probably wouldn't recognize anyone outside of school. In fact, he probably wouldn't even recognize people he had already been acquainted with, much less one he's never seen. Well, no matter Yukari's course of action, Xie had landed himself in rather hot waters over a cup of coffee. Of course, there was the minor curiosity of "Supernatural Event Detected", but that had been, admittedly, only an added bonus to his damaged pride. Well, then, again, Xie was never one to question himself, much less admit his own faults. If these hooded hooligans wanted to tussle with him over five hundred yen, who was he to deny them that chance? But then, something else came to Xie's ear. Voices, not clouded or muttered by the grunts and sounds of conflict. As both of the remaining ninjas were otherwise preoccupied, Xie turned safely, his crimson eyes peering into the other room, at the robed figures which overlook the brawl. The figures seemed lax, not at all worried about the conflict before him. Their complacency was getting on Xie's nerves. Either that meant that they were really skilled or really stupid. Though then again, Xie couldn't help but wonder how credible they were when they tripped off the alarm. However, despite eveyrthing, Xie was able to pick out a few things during the short discourse held by the hooded individuals. One, that they were taking orders from that man with the sword. Second, that they were looking for something. Xie's eyes widened when another one of the figure withdrew charms from her robes, before turning it into a prismatic ball. Eastern thaumaturge. Looks like a form scrying. Though he wasn't sure, Xie was fairly confident. So, whatever they were searching for, it was within this building, and that woman was using magecraft to trace it down. A dark bubbling appeared in Xie's soul. A combination of ambition, curiosity, and pride. If it was something that these people would die for... Xie made his move, dashing to the side and around so that he had a vantage over both ninjas. Suzume seemed to be gaining advantage over her opponent, though Xie could see that she had to resort to using her sidearm. The other ninja now was away from his weapon. Xie made a split decision. Waiting until after Suzume's attack, if it had failed to incapacitate the man, Xie cocked his left arm forward, discharging another bolt of magical plasma at the ninja. The resulting flash of magic filled the room briefly. However, those perceptive enough would see another flash, hidden in the first one's shadow, not a split moment later. Another shot was fired, this time from Xie's right. The target was the girl with the scrying ball. Ayame. The shot was probably not going to hit, due to the increased distance and Xie having no training as a marksmen, but his goal wasn't that. From what he knew, magecraft required at least some degree of concentration. And Xie sought to disrupt that vital concentration. After all, if whatever they were looking for was that important, he wanted it. |

Yukari managed to grab the ninja's sword and immediately was forced to put it to use defending herself. She had no chance to hear what Xie or the other figures further back in the room were saying or doing. Her life was on the line and all of her focus had to be on the ninja attacking her. Never before had Yukari truly been in a situation like this where her own skills would decide if she lived or died. Everything about her was so focused and keen, it was as if time was moving slower about her and her sense of awareness was heightened. Yes she was scared but it was all such a rush too. Yukari could see through the ninja's attacks and though unused to wielding a straight blade, she counter charged, ducking to avoid the blade aimed at her throat. From her crouched position, Yukari swung her blade at the ninja's wrist to try and knock the other knife out of his hands before it made contact with her. For a moment she forgot that she was not holding a wooden sword, the weapon in her hand was made of metal and if it made contact it would likely do more than simply knock the weapon from the ninja's hand. Yukari's focus on her own opponent meant she was unaware and thus vulnerable to anything going on outside of her own duel. |

...Woah. Okay, so he'll take back everything he said about the police never actually doing anything worthwhile, that was actually pretty impressive. "Ahaha... R-right, I'll keep that in mind," He said in a slightly nervous agreement to the policewoman Oshiro, doing his best to avert her sharp eyes. Seriously, a terramancer...? Why couldn't she have said that earlier?! He wouldn't have time to entertain that thought however, as immediately after the kunoichi rushed forward towards him in a silent burst of speed that quickly closed the distance between both of them! His moment of inattentiveness would have probably cost him his blood- Snap! ...Except that would not be the case. Look, his reflex is already akin to that of a top-notch superhuman thanks to the Metavirus in him, AND Kayo went and did... something, that only raised his perception and awareness of his surroundings even more. Basically, right now nothing could touch him without him being able to react to it ten seconds ago. And combined with his already ridiculous physical strength... He literally caught the blade between his fingers, stopping it before it could even come close to his chest. Even if she tries to yank it away it would not budge even the slightest bit lest she wants to break the sword. "Heh. I commend that head-on attack at least, that was very brave!" He said with a confident grin, and wasted no time in returning her attack with his very own HEADBUTT!!! |

Kayo stared in momentary shock as the two ninjas crashed against the wall of earth that Oshiro built. One of them was hit by the follow-up attack and the other retreated. She didn't have much time to remain shock, however, as the ninja-lady darted towards Seth, her blade raised. The girl let out a gasp as she saw the ninja draw nearer; she was incredibly fast. Kayo felt that she might have missed her movements had she blinked. And she was equally surprised when Seth stopped the blade. Maybe she shouldn't have been, though. Seth was already really strong. She knew that. It just... never fully registered until she saw him in action. The shock of seeing blows aimed and blows blocked had knocked Kayo out of her previous state of disbelief. This was a battle. She couldn't afford to worry about... what had happened. It might mean the death of more if she didn't concentrate. Kayo called on her cranes, feeling them hover in the tight circle around her. Her eyes avoided the body in the back, narrowing as she caught sight of the second ninja, the one who had dodged Oshiro's attack. Seth could handle the first one, she knew. Oshiro would help. But he'd have a harder time if he was fighting more than one opponent. Her job was to make sure the other ninja didn't interfere. With a flick of her wrist, Kayo sent all one hundred cranes at the ninja. A quarter of the flock flew straight towards him, the other seventy-five arching around him to attack from all sides. The formation of her attack had a dual effect. Not only was it an attack from all sides, but it also assured that, if the attack was ineffective or was dodged, the cranes were equally dispersed throughout the entire area. After which, the cranes would follow and attack the target individually, in a pattern that only made sense in Kayo's mind. The enemy they were facing was fast. Their only hope was to be faster.

Yukari and Xie The ninja jerked his hand back as Yukari's blade came passing through, the sword cutting through the space his hand had been. While her strike didn't manage to knock the knife out of his hands, it did stop him from reaching her, and her opponent took a half-step back, suddenly wary. He obviously hadn't been expecting her to actually know her way around a blade. That didn't stop him, however, and after a moment of thought, his other hand moved, throwing a knife at her face. The movement was meant to be a distraction, while Yukari was dealing with that, the ninja would move forward, slashing out with the knife towards her center. ... Xie's bolt of lightning, meanwhile, shot towards Ayame, the bright light that emanated from it illuminating the room for one moment. The man who had been standing with Tengu--Satoru--reacted first. While Ayame didn't move, he ran towards her, tackling her to the ground with a shout of "Ayame, look out!" just as the other girl yelled "NO!" The movement knocked both of them flat onto the ground, Ayame's scrying interrupted as she sat up and turned towards him. The sudden fall also knocked their hoods back, exposing their faces briefly. They were both dark-haired and brown eyed, close enough in appearance to be siblings. Satoru Ayame Satoru sat up, flinging a hand out towards Xie. A pair of ofudas shot out from his hand, flying through the air towards the alchemist. As they flew, blue flames began to consume them. Xie would find that if they touched his skin, they would burn like fire, hurting him without leaving any physical mark. Ayame blinked up at him, wide-eyed, and quickly tugged her white hood back over her face, scrambling to her feet as her brother turned to face Xie. The other girl, meanwhile, had taken a step forward as if about to intervene, but stopped before she could get too close. Her hand was out, and the same scrying ball that Ayame had been holding was in her hand now, her eyes closed as she held the light out over the room. Abruptly, her eyes snapped open, and she turned towards Tengu in alarm. "It's not here!" she said, her voice echoing through the room so that all would be able to hear it. "It isn't here!" For a second, Ayame stood frozen, turning towards the girl. Her hand was in the inside pocket of her robes, as though she had been about to draw something out, but it lay there forgotten for now. The ninja attacking Yukari didn't stop, continuing to press his attack, and Satoru certainly didn't take his eyes off Xie, but the ninja Suzume was fighting did pause, his grip on his sword faltering as he turned his head sharply towards the girl that had spoken. Suzume's sword halted in the air mid-strike, her eyes moving towards the girl as well. Seth and Kayo The kunoichi's eyes widened briefly as Seth grabbed onto her blade, not just from the speed of it, but from the sheer recklessness of the action. Who in their right mind grabbed a poisoned knife by the blade? She released her grip on the knife as Seth's headbutt came in, jerking her head away from his. She wasn't quite fast enough, however, and his head clipped her on the shoulder as she was pulling away. Oshiro immediately stepped forward, taking a wide stance as she swept her hand upward. A pillar of earth rose up from the ground beneath the kunoichi, and she danced back and away from it, one hand gripping her shoulder where Seth had struck her. Her eyes narrowed as a second pillar split the floor and rose up towards her, and she kicked off of the first, bracing her hand on the second pillar and jumping again as the two crossed, trying to catch her between them. With another flip, she was standing at the junction where the two diagonal pillars crossed one another, her hand braced on one as her feet were planted firmly between them. "Not as brave as you've been," she said to Seth, smirking at him from beneath her mask as she gave him a mocking bow. "I do hope you're careful with that knife. It bites." A little nick on the palm of his hand would solve all of her problems. She sprang back as Oshiro sent a third pillar at her, gripping hold of a kunai in each hand and stabbing them both into one of the hanging wall banners from the exhibit. The knives tore through the banners, and caught in the wall, slowing her descent so that she was hanging a few feet off the ground. "And you seem to be in a terrible hurry to destroy the museum, officer," she said to Oshiro. "I thought police officers were supposed to protect city property." "I thought ninja were supposed to be quiet," said Oshiro, her hand still upraised. The kunoichi let go of her kunai landing on the ground. She drew a poisoned blade from its sheath, holding it carefully in the palm of her hand. She leveled the point towards Oshiro, and the policewoman quickly took a step back, throwing up a wall of stone in front of herself to protect her. The kunoichi spun, letting the knife fly, but as soon as it was out of her hand, it was clear that it wasn't heading towards Oshiro. It wasn't even heading towards Seth. The knife's target was Kayo. |

"Tch," Xie made a sound of disappointment as one of the hooded individuals were astute enough to see through his little play. Though he wasn't particularly out for blood, the fact these individuals reacted quickly enough meant that they were much more than run of the mill thieves. Well, then again, normal thieves usually didn't have the means to perform scrying. As the hoods fell of the two, Xie quickly committed both of their faces to memory, inscribing their overheard names as well. Satoru and Ayame, the two look strikingly similar, but starkly different from what Xie had envisioned thieves to be. However, that moment's surprise did nothing to deter the boy's attention on these people. Locking eyes with the male, Xie took a step back as the man reached pocket, throwing out what Xie could only discern as magical talismans. As the slips of paper burst into flames, the boy's eye widened. "Taoist shamanism, or...?" The Tao used spells in a similar manner, but these people didn't particularly screamed sage and or philosophers. But, the main question was; would his hands have an effect on them? Xie had no idea, he had did little in the study of eastern magecraft. Gritting his teeth, the boy decided to entertain the risk, instead dodging off to the side. The sudden dive caused the boy to fall onto one knee, meeting Satoru's eyes once again as soon as he verified that he has evaded the attack. However, Xie said nothing, only his ruby eyes sharp, hard set and defiant, much like the man's own. Some might read it as a challenge, while others might see it as an appraiser's gaze of academic curiosity. In either case, comfortable was probably be the furthest word to describe the wordless exchange. But the contact was broken as another voice erupted through the room. Turning towards the voice, Xie quickly glanced over the remaining hooded figure. She cradled another orb, but her words were much more intriguing than the accessory in her hand. It's not here. Whatever these louts were seeking, it was not to be found in the museum. "And just what is 'it'?" Xie shouted up at the robed assembly. The young man couldn't help it; these people had caught his interest. Whatever artifact they were seeking, it seemed that there were very willing to go to drastic measures to obtain it. Standing up again, Xie trailed his eyes over everyone present, trying to gleam any information off their faces. "What could seriously be worth so much trouble...?" This was more a verbal expression of his own annoyance, wodnerment, and imagination, rather than a question. Though, Xie was probably the last person that should be allowed to say that. After all, the reason he was here in the first place was a cup of coffee. His eyes finally stopped down at Suzume and the man she was currently engaged with. With a slight huff, the navy-haired boy cocked his hand at the masked man upon the floor. Taking the man's slight hesitation, Xie trained his finger towards the head. Though the bolt wasn't quite strong enough to pierce cleanly through the skull, a shot to the head at such a distance would be rather... messy. However, the boy's slow and deliberate movements made it obvious that he wasn't going to fire. Not immediately, in any case. "Are you deaf? You heard her right?" Xie spoke rhetorically, motioning slightly with his head to the girl with the orb. "Or are you stupid enough to fight over a cup of coffee?" The man would probably have no idea what the tactless Xie was going on about. But, if what that girl had said was true, then whatever it was their troupe was fighting for was gone. The battle had lost all meaning. Of course, if the man, or any of the others insisted on continuing, Xie would have no qualms with with sending a bolt of lightning at his face. |

Kuh, slippery as a snake, he hates fighting people like these...! Mainly because anything he himself throws will only work if it hits, and yes it did hit! But it wasn't enough and, "Geh- cricked my neck...!" Yeah that. See, as much as he wanted to chase the kunoichi around and give her a good beating with his own hand, he's really not inclined to get himself caught in the middle of the policewoman's rapid fire earthen assault. Besides, "Silly you, knives can't bite. They stab people," ...Thanks for pointing out the obvious, but really, he's not sure what is it about this knife that makes her comment about it in the middle of- ...Oh. "...Really?" He said with... actually quite a bit of surprise with... disappointment as well? He's still holding the knife in his hand, actually clenching on it even more that the edges cut deeper into his hand. The moment the kunoichi acted with an attack aimed at neither him nor Oshiro, Seth was way more than ready. The kunai barely left the kunoichi's hand when Seth had thrown the one in his own, letting it fly and collide with the kunoichi's kunai, knocking it out of the air with an audible Clang! "You know what I hate about people like you?" The young man said with a... somewhat angry growl, glaring at the kunoichi with a dangerously predatory look as he rose back up to his feet. Hand raised, the cut one in fact, clenching it into a fist before yelling out with a thunderous voice-! "YOU PEOPLE WHO RELY ON STUPID TRICKS AND TOYS WILL NEVER WIN IN A FIGHT AGAINST A MAN!!!" ...That... doesn't sound like Seth. I mean, yes it sounds like Seth, but... it doesn't...? Nope, it's not Seth. Now, not exactly sure how many people would notice it to ask, but in any case, meet V. The Metavirus that lived inside Seth's body as well as acting as the source for all of his ridiculous physical capabilities. ...Which also includes an extremely high resistance towards most kind of poison and toxins. You can also probably guess what kind of personality this... V, has... |

Still focused on her own battle, Yukari saw the ninja throw a knife at her face. The girl quickly side-stepped and pivoted to avoid the attack. As the ninja then made a second attack which struck air where she had been standing, Yukari swung the sword in her hands down at the ninja's side as hard as she could. She was a skilled swordswoman but not so experienced when it came to real battles where one's life is on the line. Still she managed to keep her fear at bay but only just. ((Back from Hiatus, sorry this took so long)) |
