But how can mirrors be real if our eyes aren't real?
|
Hyakuji 2.0 Template Character Name: Siv Valdís Aesleif Gender: Female Age: 18 Height: 1.56m Weight: 49kg Description or Image of Character Appearance: Image She also possesses a large number of self-harm scars on her lower arms. These are covered at all times. Themes: Themes Occupation: Student Grade Level: Senior Powers/ Abilities: Saidar: Siv uses what is called saidar. Saidar is not so much a way of using magic, as much as it is an entirely seperate source of power. Saidar is the female half of a source of magical power that requires the user to 'weave' their spells, as it were. As such, most spells from saidar are named Weaves. The male power of Saidar is called Saidin. Users of either source have to weave their spells from the Five Powers - Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Spirit. Women are generally more powerful in Water and Air, and men in Fire and Earth. Strength in Spirit is equally divided among the genders but rare in both. Use of either power is very different from the other - saidin requires the user to fight for the weaves, and giving even the slightest quarter in the inner struggle can lead to death, whereas if you fight saidar, the flows will only get worse and worse. You have to give in to saidar if you want to use it. For eiter gender, holding the Power ceeates a feeling of rapture beyond compare. Siv can create the following weaves- -Healing: Siv can heal wounds such as broken bones quite easily by weaving all the five powers. This requires physical contact with the subject. Wounds healed leave no scars, and a Healer may also choose to remove older wounds too. This way, Healing can retroactively restore crippled limbs, fix bones that grew back in the wrong way, and even remove shrapnel lodged inside the body. By weaving Spirit, Water and Air in very large amounts, Siv can also heal someone to their full health, but this has a large backlash to both her and the healed person. Even death can be Healed as long as the subject has not been dead longer than 30 seconds. Depending on the amount of damage that has been restored, both Healer and Healed will find themselves extremely tired, to the point that they can no longer stand up, and they will be ravenously hungry for at least two days. If a person is also too close to dying, the Healer needs to concentrate closely, leaving them open for attack, because if they use too much power, the shock can be enough to kill the subject rather than reviving them. Healing can also be used to simply remove battle fatigue. One downside is that a saidar-channeler can never Heal themselves. -Air Bonds: A weave made of pure air, Air Bonds allows Siv to create several "tendrils" of air, which she can use to pick objects up to move them around or throw them, or perform any other function such an appendage might perform. When only using a single Air Bond, Siv can reach up to 100 meters away from her. However, she will lose much of her finesse after 50. At max, Siv can control 10 tendrils. These will be small, though, reaching no farther than 10 meters away and each of them possesses about the same strength as a human arm. She has enough finesse to perform low-precision tasks with them, so she can, say, do the dishes or 'float' items over to herself without using her hands, but she cannot do things like writing or typing or pouring drinks. However, using just a single tendril and having no others active, the Air Bond is strong enough to crush small vehicles in its grip and throw medium-sized cars around. -The Flame and the Void: A weave using Fire and Spirit, the Flame and the Void is simple to explain but requires great practice to master. Siv often used it to escape from her depression when cutting herself didn't help, and she has become as able in it as she can get without actually possessing a Talent for it. First, the channeler weaves two nets around his own consciousness, one of Fire, and one of Spirit on top of it. Then, they 'implode' the net of Fire, causing it to burn away all emotions, distractions, and needless thoughts. This is called "The Flame". As long as the net of Spirit stays up, blocking the unconsciousness from filling the emptiness left by the Flame, the channeler's senses are sharpened to near perfection. In addition, the net of Spirit, pure spiritual power, enhances the body's speed as well. This is called the Void. A regular human, under the influence of the Void, could catch arrows with their bare hands or parry machine gun fire with a sword. Their eyesight is also greatly enhanced, for instance allowing them to see people's faces in great detail from a much longer distance than a normal person could. Though the channeler is perfectly aware of their wounds while in the Void, they feel disconnected, as if they are another person's wounds. Due to this, a channeler in the Void has a high resistance to pain. All the channeler needs to do to leave the Void is popping the bubble of spirit around them. Heavy emotional shock, losing consciousness, or being sick can cause the Void to destabilize and collapse, causing severe headaches and a momentary inability to channel. -Mindflay: Siv weaves Fire and Spirit together and touches an opponent with it. Though Mindflay can't actually inflict pain, it can greatly enhance already existing pain. A papercut can be turned into a crippling cramp in the hand. A small bruise can have the victim howling in pain. A slightly upset tummy makes you want to curl up in bed and never get up again. This weave is visible as a tendril of purple energy extending from Siv's body. Mindflay has a 10 meter range for inflicting the effect, and only a single target can be affected by Mindflay at a time. If the victim is already under Mindflay's effect, then the effect will wear off once the distance between Siv and the target becomes greater than 25 meters. Equipment You Have: -One katana, Kara no Konpaku, Emptiness of the Soul, a family heirloom from her mother's side, associated with the art of the Flame and the Void. Usually kept in her room. -General school stuff. -iPhone 5s, with iOS7 of course. -A small knife she keeps in her pocket for self-defense. Residency Request: Yuki Dorm Room 321 Schedule: Homeroom Teacher: Lavender 1) Cooking 2) Survival Studies 3) Science Personality Description: Siv is, to most people, an incredibly kind, almost motherly girl. She's accepting of most flaws, and tries to make people see the best in themselves most of the time. One of her flaws is that she is quite honest, having much of her heart on the tip of her tongue, and she doesn't hesitate to throw it out. However, honest as she is, one thing she always dodges and avoids: questions about her past. Siv can get extremely defensive when people prod into her past, lashing out verbally and sometimes even physically. It's nearly impossible to get these answers out of her if you're not in her inner circle of most trusted friends, even if you were to go so far as to torture her. She hides the physical signs of her past depressions as well - the maze of red scars on her lower arms are always covered by long sleeves, even in the warmest weather. She rarely swims or performs other actions that require her to bare her arms for this reason. However, this kind motherly girl does have a dark side. She has tendencies to behave like a vigilante, passing justice out to criminals when she pleases. Her actions range from fairly 'innocent' like binding purse thieves to a street light with their own shirts, to the downright psychotic, ripping violent murderers and sexually abusive people limb from limb. Due to her past of abuse by her father, she is somewhat afraid of all males, though she does attempt to stay kind to them. Personal History: Born of a Japanese father and a Norse mother, the youngest of three, you would say that without the presence of Eldritch Abominations, alien invasions, or otherwise truly supernatural events, Siv should have been a pretty happy girl in this world where everyone's parents seem to be either dead or manipulative. However, we are quick to forget that the greatest monsters hide within ourself. Both of Siv's parents were channelers, and her mother taught her several weaves while Siv was small. She was discovered to have a Talent for Healing, meaning that she was able to form the complicated weaves without being taught from a very young age. Everything went nice and easy until somewhere during Siv's 7th year of life. During a terrible accident, her mother died, and the child Siv tried her best to Heal her, but to no avail - the spark of life had been out of her too long. Her father, consumed by grief, still tried to continue, and ended up pulling so much of saidin into him that he burned himself out, as they call it. The ability to channel was scoured out of him, and for both that and his wife's death, the loss of two of the lights in his life, one smaller than the other, he blamed his youngest daughter. The following 10 years were hell for her. The children were terrified by their father. None of them even dared drawing on the power to fend him off - he had been a near-mythical hero in their eyes. The man was everything but, though. Though the older children were also pushed around and bullied, most of the man's ire focused on Siv, who had failed to Heal her mother. When the man was drunk, he beat her, sometimes until she was black and blue. When he felt she didn't obey fast enough, he locked her up in the cramped basement. When he missed his wife and needed to release... Seven years this continued. Nobody knew what was happening, and the children were too scared to fight back. Seven years it took. Seven years of fear and abuse of every kind. And at that point, Siv snapped like a twig. One night, when her father was both drunk and worked up, she used the most simple of weaves, a single thread of Air, thicker than her wrist, and choked her father out, savoring every moment she heard him gasp for breath. Watching his mouth move without sound and his fingers scratch against an unseen bond, she had felt joy creeping into her. Vengeance. With a last flick of her wrist, she crushed the man's skull like an overripe watermelon. That was how her siblings found her. Battered and bloody, with only a few rags around her body, rags which had been her clothes not long before, and sitting on a chair near their father's corpse, Kara no Konpaku, which would later become her trusty weapon, laid across her knees. There was no proof of their father's abuse, sadly. No proof other than that which Siv could have fabricated easily by herself, not to mention with two accomplices. All the police would find was brutal, intentional murder, and three children, one covered in blood. They realized they had to flee. Her brother, who had a Talent for Traveling, the creation of portals, spread the three of them across the world. With one step, Siv crossed from Norway into Hyakuji, Japan. Her father's home town. None of their family still lived there, though. The plan was not well thought-out, though, so Siv improvised. She staggered into the High School, a place famous around the world, holding on to saidar for dear life and putting on her best empty look while clutching Kara no Konpaku. Soon she was found by school authorities, who only got vague answers out of her. Danger back home. A portal. Flight. Fuzzy memories. A tale they gobbled up like sweet pudding, unsurprising with their reputation. Siv was enrolled into Hyakuji and granted a dorm room, and the school provided her with the means to request asylum, which she obtained quickly. Since then, she has lived among the students, none of them aware of what she had done. Mashed Potatoes?

A new character will be replacing Siv. She will, for now, be turned into an NPC. |
