Profile Notes
Evray "Charmed. The pleasure is mine." Evray Estus is a character played by Fallen_shinku. Abandoned in an orphanage in Germany with a mysterious benefactor, Evray grew up never knowing of his parents. It wasn't until he reached adolescence that he became aware that his father was a member of the Tower of Fangs and had since died. Mentally dependent on his doll, Evray has undergone some changes since its disappearance. Appearance A rather plain individual, Evray is not known for his sense of style, despite being an accomplished tailor. In fact, he has never been seen outside his signature ensemble of a hoodie, slacks and worn dress shoes. Well, at least he seems to smile more often now, nor does he require any more use of a breath mask. Despite his rather lax attire though, Evray in fact hold high regard for aesthetics, able to distinguish between good and bad tastes. The boy's hair is also messy and matted, a dull black in color. Perhaps what is most noticeable would be the complexion, both smooth and pale. Abilities True Demonition “Derive 'Kruschtya'” ... The form adopted by Evray Estus when he utilizes Kruschtya's Key. After a certain encounter, Evray's ability of "demonition" was taken from him. Or rather, it was returned. Standing twelve feet, including horns, this giant form possesses an intimidating aura. A muted grey clothes hides the majority of its body; its limbs and torso covered in an armor-like carapace. Aside from its staggering height, the creature is also surprisingly hefty, and in extension, rather cumbersome in its movements. Though similar in effect to other forms of shape shifting, its process is fundamentally different. First off, the transformation takes place by replacing Evray's representation in this world, with an pre-determined avatar from his dreamscape. Meaning, this form of shapeshifting is not considered "magical", instead, functioning more along the lines of "supernatural". In essence, magic-cancellation effects and banishment (as in those used to exile summoned beasts and the like) would have no effect. As for actual attributes and traits, as stated above, this form is considerably bulky and possesses formidable strength many times that of an average teenager. Being a rather physically strong manifestation, it can also take a good deal of punishment. However, being such a heavy-hitter has made Evray a bit less than maneuverable. This can be summed up as follows. Strength: Considerable amounts. Most of its strength lies within its strong hands and grip. In this form, Evray can smash his way through doors and non-reinforced walls with relative ease. It has enough strength to do a number of super human feats and beyond, due to it, well, not being human anymore. Denting and crushing a small car is not beyond its capabilities. Its ideal form of engagement is to charge at the enemy and proceed to rip it apart. Or tear it to shreds. Note, the horns on its head and its tail are also considerably resilient and sharp, able to cut through concrete. Endurance: Contrary to the usually soft-spoken and frail Evray, his avatar is tenacious and durable. Aside from its unnaturally tough exterior, parts of its body is also armored. Most conventional weaponry would leave superficial wounds, but an expert (as in someone who knew what they were doing) at the use of weapons would still be able to wound and injure this form. It would just be harder than if the target was human. At its limit, his avatar can take the equivalent of a head-on collision with a small semi-truck. And barely survive. With a body of broken bones; a bleeding mess on the floor. Note that his endurance isn't an notable ability at all. It is just that, well, a bigger and heavier body would be harder to kill. Note, weaker points in Evray's avatar would be the holes in his "face" (eyes and mouth), followed by his wrists and then the other joints. Weakness: As with all things, there are some disadvantages and blatant drawbacks of Evray utilizing this form. First off, and probably most obvious, is its maneuverability. Though not particularly slow, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to say that Evray's avatar is about as maneuverable as a rock. Don't expect this heavy-weight to be jumping over fences or dancing the waltz. Or handling sharp corners with finesse. Additionally, much to Evray's ire, playing musical instruments is also out of the question. In fact, any task requiring subtlety, delicacy, and dexterity would be unfavorable. Perhaps not as obvious, but Evray's ability for verbal communication is also effectively nulled. Not due to a deficit in intellect or mental capacity, but due to the avatar's lack of a functional tongue or telepathy. Thus, Evray would be limited to gestures and guttural roars to convey himself. Note, that Evray is still capable of understanding normal speech. But, whether he does or not is another story... Additionally, there is no set limit on just how long Evray can stay in this form. Also, he cannot choose when to cease the transformation. Evray can only revert if one of the following conditions are met: Evray Estus loses consciousness; Evray Estus dies; Kruschtya's Key is removed from Evray's Person. While transformed, the Key rests somewhere inside its torso, serving as a replacement for where the internal organs would rest. Though perhaps a particular "doll"... Finally, it should be noted that wounds do not transfer over from Evray's human body to his avatar or vice-versa, due to them being two separate physical bodies. Though when the transformation reverts, Evray will still carry any wounds he had received prior to using this ability. As for the avatar, it will be called at full status at every use, regardless of Evray's current health. Lamentations of the Lost Garden "Last Zoa's Cry" ![]() %"Ironic, isn't it?"% Evray's most terrifying ability. An unearthly smoke exudes out of the palms of the beast, capable of reaching up to five feet radius from its originating point. The smoke stays for a duration of five posts maximum, though usually disappears immediately when Evray ceases the use of this ability, which he can only use twice per thread, regardless of duration. Though it deals no direct damage, the smoke is tinged and etched with a curse; a curse of a demented wish for creation, a twisted amalgamation of desire, ambition and epicurean craftsmanship. A corrupted desire to hold onto something barbed and long gone. In short, this smoke renders petrification. However, despite this terrifying power, it has limitations. Aside from its rather short area of effective, the smoke is rather fragile and thick. It cannot even pass through simple layers of clothing, and can only effect bare and exposed organic material. In fact, if one had a simple pocket fan, it would be sufficient to keep the smoke at bay. No doubt Aeromancers and the like would make short work of this curse. Additionally, it is incredibly slow moving, only reaching its maximum reach (five feet) after its maximum duration of five posts of use. One could evade the gas by simply walking away. Finally, the curse works gradually, taking a full six posts to complete. In other words, one would have to be in contact with the cloud for the entirety of six posts to become completely petrified; this means its impossible for Evray to achieve a full petrification. One post would result in flaking of the skin, and perhaps hardening of hairs and finger tips. These cease as soon as one ceases contact with the smoke. Two posts would insult in a hardening of affected tissue and appendages. Victims would feel an aching within joints and a sluggishness of movements. These would also cease after ending contact with the smoke. After the third post, is when the early signs of petrification appears. Extremities such as fingers and toes are now stone, with similar affects to minor frostbite. These would revert after a two posts of no contact with the smoke, one posts if one had a supernatural form of regeneration, body resistance etc or immediately if any form of outside healing is used. Four posts would reach the severity of frostbite upon the whole hand and/or feet. Natural recovery would require three posts, with enhanced biological recovery being two posts. If one was insane enough to stay in the post for a duration of five posts (the maximum duration per use), they would find that one of their limbs would effectively be stone. Natural recovery is now impossible, those with enhanced recovery will need three posts. Note, since this is a magical curse, those with wards, resistance to magic etc would be resistant or outright immune to it. Curative magics would also be effective on the curse. Any level of the curse can be removed with the use of remedial magecraft and/or items. Finally, all traces of the smoke and petrification would immediately cease as soon Evray reverts. Lamentations of the Lost Garden "Last Zoa's Wish" ![]() "Everything leaves. Everything dies. And then, everything turns to ash." A power derived from the origin of "Purity", but corrupted and morphed through Mara's influence into something completely different. Though initially used for offensive purposes by Rayne and Empty Apocrypha, Evray's rendition of this origin has defensive properties. Simply put, Evray is able to create a "rejection field" in a dome-like area around himself, capable of extending up to two meters, and capable of starting from his "center" to a meter away. This dome like umbrella, as the name implies, rejects both solid and liquid masses, in addition to magical effects, from its vicinity. Meaning, any element which doesn't have the same DNA, mana signature, or belongs to Evray would be forcibly evicted from this barrier. Foreign objects trying to enter such a field would be repelled; objects that find themselves within this boundary would be obliterated. Note, Evray is able to use his ability both when he is "human", and when he adopts the form of Los, though there is a different limitation for each. As a human, Evray can only hold the barrier up for a duration of one post (meaning that he can bring it up in one post, and that is falls apart before the conclusion of the next). As Los, the barrier can be held up to three posts, though the additional limitation is that Los is unable to move while the field is in effect. Regardless, this ability has a cool down of two posts, beginning after the barrier ceases. Personality Recently, something seems a bit off about Evray. At times lost, confused, and rambling, while others he remains silent, condescending, and sardonic. Ever since the disappearance of Lorelei, Evray had changed. Its hard to say at least what; sometimes he seems no different than before. Yet, it would seem as if he was a completely different person. "Unstable" could be a word to describe him now, though not exactly "volatile". His persona seems to change upon a whim, from the creepy kid behind you to a condescending aristocrat. At it just isn't in his personality either; how he walks, carry himself, write, stands every minute little thing seemed to be vary from time to time. A psychologist might point to signs of schizophrenia or multiple personality disorder, but Evray would deny such things, claiming that he is still simply Evray. Sadly, that is not too simple. History Evray's childhood has nothing of particular note. The boy grew up in an orphanage in Germany, a small rural town hidden from the spotlight. Left in the orphanage as a baby, he was the “middle child”, so to speak. He cried, but never threw huge tantrums. He ate, but was by no means gluttonous. He played with the other children, but was no leader, or rambunctious. He also fought, though it was rare. In a sense, it can be said that Evray did enough to be present, but never anything that stood out. A name everyone at the orphanage was familiar with, but of no one actually knew. What is of particular note occurs both before and after Evray's childhood. Ever since being first found at the doorsteps of the orphanage, Evray had had a mysterious sponsor. About the head of every month, a parcel containing a sum of currency (Not much), would be found, always contained within the same type of envelope. No one knew who could've sent the money, and there was never a sign of a courier. But it would arrive steadily and dependably, always the second day of the month, near the end of the day. And it would always appear at the doorstep, with not a fleeting shadow to mark its arrival. Though the sum was never enough to prompt an investigation, it was an odd curiosity, probably the most notable thing about the the child. In actuality, Evray's sponsor wasn't some mysterious, unknown benefactor. Well, in a sense it is, but it was no stranger, despite Evray never having met the individual. It was his “father”, for a lack of a better term. Even to this day, Evray is unsure of his “father's” name. Only what he had done. Evray's “father”, was a mage. And not just any mage, but a mage of the Tower of Fangs, premier academy for magical research, situated in France. However, that is all that can be said about the man. Though not a student of the tower, he could barely be considered a teaching assistant. Unlike most other magus, his father had no impressive lineage to boast about, he himself possessing little in the forms of Magic Circuits, conduits needed to utilize ambient Mana. Though the man was in possession of a brilliant mind and affinity for magic, he lacked the necessary conduits to utilize his fullest potential. And, in his mind, what was rightfully his. Thus, the man conducted two of the most memorable acts (or perhaps infamous would be the word, though sometimes the two work in conjunction) of his magical career at the tower. First, it was the artificial implantation of Circuits into an individual. Under normal circumstances, the Circuits present within an individual are determined at birth. There had been special instances where one develops Magic Circuits during one's life, but those processes were considered the exceptions, and entailed a string of complication, side-affects, probabilities and dangers. Something that wouldn't do for Evray's father. Thus, he went for an alternative albeit circumvent method. Due to the difficulties of integrating new Circuits into an existing individual, his father sought to grow additional circuits into a a new one. And that is how Evray came to be. It is unsure just how the man managed this. It isn't even certain whether Evray was the man's child, another's or even a child at all. One thing that is certain, however, is that the man somehow got access to a child, and was able to implant additional Circuits into him. That much, had proven to be a flawless success. Onto the second part of his scheme; accessing those Circuits. Though the man possessed little capacity for high-end magic, he was uncannily familiar with its workings. Using elementary theorems and applications, his father was able to create a parasitic spell, manifested as “worms”, and imbued it into Envray. This spell allowed his father to access and utilize Evray's additional Magic Circuits. The worms attached themselves into Evray's circuit networks, and relayed the energy back to his father. In a sense, it can be said that his father used Evray as a magical proxy. And with that, the man was able to progress in the Tower of Fangs. That was, at least until Evray reached the age of fourteen. It happened abruptly, with no prior warning. Evray fell deathly sick, his body reduced into a melting fever and bedridden. Nothing could point to a cause, and the boy also began hacking out blood. Pupils became dilated and accounts of delusions. The entire orchestra of a constant, heavy fever was present. But of greater interest was what transpired at the Tower of Fangs, within his father's studies. Suddenly, the man fell suspect to a blind rage, and a pounding headache. The man's internal temperature skyrocketed, and his Circuit networks were shot into overdrive, nearing overload. The man suffered a nigh complete breakdown, torching his notes and studies in a flurry. Thankfully, he eventually burned out and was taken into intensive care. It was there that the Tower discovered the man's dealings and ploy, and reprimands swiftly followed. Everay has no idea what happened to his father, if anything at all. In any case, the Tower then turned its attention to the son. The cause of the Evray's sudden drastic decline in health, and as some research showed also accounted for the man's sudden episode, was due to a delayed reaction between Evray's own Magic Circuit and the parasitic worms placed within him. In order for the worms to be able to feed the energy from Evray's Circuit, they must be within the “virgin” aka natural sate, as in non-opened. Magical Circuits are purged and become open upon the subject first utilizing the power of prana, or conversion of ambient energy. The only conclusion was that through the stroke of luck or coincidence, Evray unconciously came upon the trigger required to purge his Magic Circuits, despite his father's countermeasure against such a thing. This resulting flow of energy sent the worms into a nigh-frenzy, feeding and rerouting the surplus of magical prana. No doubt, that lead to destructive consequences. The Tower “adopted” the boy, though more for interest and research rather than any humanitarian cause. Despite the mage's attempts, they were unable to remove the spell from the child. At least, without causing irreparable damage to the system. And that would be avoided at all cause, as Evray was the only person to have ever received additional, artificial, circuits, without any sort of additional stress. Thus, they tried to school him in magic. This proved to be fruitless. Despite possessing an impressive number and quality of Circuits, Evray was unable to utilize a single node. This was due to the parasitic worms, whom have made a near interplay within the boy's magical network, steadily feeding off the prana produced by the units. Now, however, instead of rerouting the prana, the parasite seemed to consume, steadily growing. However, this showed no effect, until a week later. It was then that they discovered Evray's unique ability. The spell had adapted into Evray's Magic Circuits. And his body had adapted to the spell. Seeing this interesting symbiosis, the Tower decided to relay Evray's case to the nearby Academia Beluosus, where he spent two years. It was obvious that Evray didn't belong, ever since the onset. Despite his “unique” abilities, he couldn't compare to the other students, in physique, constitution, and natural lethality. This became all too evident in an incident a few days prior to his departure. Due to being the only human, even if an empowered one, there was no way he could compete. He became the recieving end of the stick, which caused him to develop a much more introverted personality. As time moved on, the more rambunctious and rowdy of the students began to grow more aggressive, and push soon became shove. Evray, at this time, had next to no control over his demonition. His could conjure misshaped forms, but what is that when compared to being which have developed over centuries? It was one such incident, which led to Evray seek refuge in one of the darker corners of the Academia. The room was dark. That was the first thing that encroached upon the room, slowly closing the door behind him. Actually, in truth, that was not his first thought, that being to get away from the other students. Just to get away. He didn't want to be there, with all their eyes watching him, as a mad mix of enemy, food, prey. Toy. In any light, it was different. Back at the orphanage, the only place he could truthfully call home, they were all children, people. But here, Evray was different. Very much so. His thoughts went back as he took a few steps forward into the room. The darkness seem to hit at him, as if trying to impede his progress. And as of human nature, that oddly compelled him to continue forward. Step, step. It was truly dark, Evray thought again. But as his eyes adjusted, he could barely just make out other shapes about the room; cube-like, boxes maybe. Then, Evray began to cough, the dust and must causing a reaction within him. However, the sounds seemed to be swallowed by the room, not even an echo coming back. Bringing a hand over his mouth, Evray tried to stifle his irritation, but the movements and force only served to spread the displaced particles even more. It would seem the room hadn't been disturbed for quite some time, possibly years. As the dust lifted, he caught sight of various trinkets, some boxed, some draped, some lying out in the open. He saw everything from hand-held mirrors to grandfather clocks, all of which his mind told to avoid but which begged otherwise. If the coughing wasn't enough, Evray also began to feel nauseated, disoriented, from the pressure exerted by the room. And one thing flashed by his mind. He shouldn't be here. The whole room was ancient, its items easily being elder than the century. And they were all dead. Not a speck of life was in the room. He had not noticed it before, but as Evray glanced around, not even the faintest semblance of mice, or even cobwebs could be seen. Nothing alive was in the room. Save for himself. Stumbling, Evray tried to find his way out of the labyrinth, blinded by both darkness and dust, disoriented by both a pounding aura and incessant cough. Then, as required of such a situation, Evray tripped. Whether it was a table leg, a staff, a vase, or perhaps even nothing at all, Evray found his center of gravity toppling, and his face saw only the ground. Of course, along his trek downward, no doubt the boy struggled, bringing and displacing many objects along his descent. Then, the faintest of sounds reached his ears, as he laid down on the dust. A small click, as if something was opened. Coughing, the boy pushed himself up, his eyes wet from the effort and strain upon his throat. Before him was a case, pitch black, differing from the muteness of the dust. And within was Lorelei. Enchanted, perhaps yearning, the only words that could describe Estus' first impression of the doll. It seemed to reach out to him, a voice, but not even a whisper. A ghost, maybe? But it didn't matter, the odd spell broke through all confines of logic or rationality. Without a second thought, the boy closed the box and took it with him, leaving with such a haste as if he had set the whole room alight. Evray, despite everything, was no demon. He left shortly after taking Lorelei. After two years of scrapping an education within the institution within the Academia, it became noted that this arrangement wouldn't function. Aside from the fact that most the the prior students held some bias of humans, Evray himself was still essentially human. Thus, he made arrangements to transfer to a more accommodating institute. This institution turned out to be Hyakuji. Not that Evray could tell, in any case. He just tried to past the days as he always had, tending to his own interests; which mainly consisted of knitting, playing various instruments and doting over Lorelei. But despite his eccentric attitude, Evray was still swept up into a myriad of events at the school. In order: Joining Arcadia, having a fight with one of the teachers, witnessing an invasion from a mechanical army from the future, travelling back in time to Dalmasca, and even confronting the King of the Machine Empire. Of course, there was other things too. Smaller things. Evray remembered getting lost in town, ending up in the some cafe. He remembered meeting royalty from some underground kingdom. He remembered. He remembered “helping” a boy who had fainted in the maid cafe. And somehow, someway, Evray even ended up joining the newspaper club. He remembered all of these things. However, something seemed off. Thinking back on it now, Evray remembered all those things happening, it was valid and proven no matter where he looked or who he asked. But, it all felt so numb, so surreal. So far off, as if he had read them in a book then actually be there in person. And, there was one thing he didn't- couldn't remember, was the events that occurred “that night”. Only that something did and it had changed something very important to him. Like something was taken from him, destroyed, and Evray felt hollow. Empty. Lorelei was gone. Again, Evray was alone. Woah woah woah, total petrification? Like, turning to stone and stuff? Nnnnope, that one is not gonna pass. Unless there is a way to actually recover from the petrification after it fully takes place. Even then, five posts, ...make it six. Too bad lol, im treating this like a new char :x |

Changelog v1.01: -Last Zoa's Cry now require six posts instead of four for complete petrification, duration of use is still five posts. This now makes it impossible for Evray to complete a full petrification with one use of Last Zoa's Cry. --Additionally, the following revisions were made to accommodate the additional levels of this skill. ---Duration "3"; now only affects extremities, such as fingers and toes. ---Duration "4"; now affects the hand/feet. ---Duration "5"; now affects an entire limb. -Added a clause which emphasize that any form of curative/remedial magic/treatment is enough to remove the effects of the curse. Thank you Fin. Cheers. |

Derive Kruschtya; Aesthetics change, to more reflect the style of Empty Apocrypha and the Arterial of Creation. Yeah, I just changed the picture. Last Zoa's Wish; Gives Evray the ability to conjure a domed barrier, with different limitations depending whether he has adopted Los' form or not. Range of up to two meters. As Los, movement is impossible while the barrier is active. Cool down of two posts. |
