Saito didn't much mind small, dark spaces most of the time, considering that as a young lad he spent quite a large amount of time hanging out in arcades and gaming halls, but there was just something about this place that rubbed him the wrong way. That was probably why he was following Nanoha so closely, glad for the illumination that that staff of hers provided. Being able to see just where in the hell they were going was certainly better than navigating this deathtrap blind... ...assuming that they could see all of the dangers around them, that is. "...you sure you didn't hit your head on the way down? There's nothin' over there but dust," he tried to rationalise, not entirely believing it himself but certainly trying damned hard to go along with it. Regardless of there being nothing but dust and darkness near the infirmary as far as they could see, Saito couldn't help but raise Del in that direction, gripping the hilt hard enough to turn his knuckles white. After all, an enemy that they couldn't see was an enemy that they couldn't fight, and an enemy they couldn't fight...... |

NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION. Thankfully for Seth, said inquisition didn't appear. What did happen next though made things more unnerving. "I'm going with you! Maybe Naomi's up there..." Seiko said as she followed Seth up the stairs regardless of any objections he might have. This meant that she missed Selene noticing the headless ghost down the hallway on the opposite side. This also meant that two entirely new groups had their attentions split down different directions. To Selene, the ghost girl seemed to be beckoning for her to come closer, and the corporate heiress would find herself inexplicably unable to resist the ghost's calling regardless of whether or not Saito or Nanoha tried to stop her. In fact, if they tried to stop her, she would unknowingly shove them away until she got to her destination. The ghost girl would lead her to the first floor, where Selene would find herself looking at the partially decomposing corpse of a young middle school girl (and subsequently not know how the hell she got there in the first place either) in front of the stairs. There was also a bloody and crumpled piece of paper in her hand. On the wall next to the corpse was a flyer, but even if Selene looked at it, she wouldn't see any words written on it. Saito and Nanoha would be able to though, and it simply read:
There was also a trail of fresh blood on the wall, as if someone who was bleeding profusely leaned against it for support before moving left - the right side led to a dead end, after all. Said trail of blood lead to a slumped figure near the four way intersection in the middle of the hallway... ![]() "Ghhhh..." Wait, this woman was... alive?

"That's strange... but there she is..." Selene remarked as Nanoha and Saito denied having seen the almost-headless ghost that the corporate heiress was seeing over at the infirmary, who was clearly beckoning the pumpkin-haired girl over. Now, the corporate heiress was anything BUT one of those horror movie too-dumb-to-live victims who would approach a beckoning specter against her better judgement. However, even without herself consciously realizing it the pumpkin-haired girl would find herself drawn towards the ghost girl, slowly approaching her position despite knowing better not to, following the headless specter until she arrived at the first floor. "What am I doing?" Selene muttered, wondering how and why she even followed a headless ghost girl to begin with, eventually finding herself staring at a partially-decomposed corpse, which from what was left of it that could be identified, belonged to a middle school girl. "What does it say?" the corporate heiress wondered as she tried to read the flyer on the wall next to the corpse, but instead finding the whole thing ineligible . "Bloody hell, forget it," the pumpkin-haired girl mumbled as she gave up trying to figure out what was on the flyer, instead her gaze wandering over to the middle schooler's corpse, the corporate heiress' eyes softening with pity. No one deserved to meet their end in such an accursed place, especially one so young. "Another note..." the corporate heiress remarked as she spied a bloody, crumpled note clutched in the dead girl's hand. "Valkyrie, cover me," Selene commanded her Valkyrie as she got down on one knee to retrieve the crumpled note from the corpse, with her summoned Valkyrie keeping an eye out for her master in case the dead girl turned out to be not quite dead. |

Selene seemed to have dismissed Nanoha and Saito’s finding. Instead, she went on ahead as if to follow this invisible phantom she spoke of earlier, and that was not normal, at least not in Nanoha’s book. “Selene-san, wait.” Nanoha called out after the older girl, grabbing her by the arm only to be shoved away. “Wait!” Nanoha called out, more exasperated than before now and forced to follow Selene to make sure she doesn’t hurt herself. Scared as she was of this unnatural dark place, Nanoha was even more afraid of something untoward happening to any of them right now. When they finally got to where Selene was headed to, they were in for a surprise. Nanoha closed her mouth with a free hand to stifle her cry at finding a rotting corpse, the worst she could think of finding in this god forsaken place besides the bones earlier. She backed herself away to put some distance between her and the grisly find. As she looked away from it, she saw the flyer on the wall and what was written on it. But for some reason, Selene reacted to it as if she couldn’t read it. “It said stop reading the damn memoirs we keep finding.” Nanoha said angrily, finding herself unable to keep her composure in check. “Selene-san, I don’t think you should read that.” Nanoha warned Selene, fearing the worst. She was so focused on Selene and her odd behavior that she doesn’t notice the trail of blood or who does it lead to… |

Nanoha had Selene's back while she read another one of those creepy notes, so the familiar bringing up the rear was free to take a look around...and almost immediately regret it. There was a rather sizeable smear of blood along one of the walls, and rather fresh by the looks of it. With the girls busy investigating the corpse near the stairs, it was up to Saito to check out the rather less living-impaired presence around the corner. "Jesus, are you okay?" he asked, voice thick with worry as he rushed to the injured woman's side, completely ignoring the fact that everything they'd seen so far was a lot more sinister than it seemed on the surface. If someone was injured, it was their job to make sure they were okay! Besides, she might have some information about where they'd ended up, even if it was something they would really rather not hear. |

"I'm fine... ugh..." the lady groaned. She seemed to be worried about something else though, enough that she was almost willing to ignore her own pain. "I was looking for my students... I'm an English teacher from Kisaragi Academy, Yui Shishido... Did you happen to see any other students here? I've only managed to see a couple before they got chased by this... giant man with a sledgehammer. I've managed to hide, but... I don't know how much longer I can do that with these injuries..." Wait, Kisaragi Academy? Wasn't that... Meanwhile, Selene would actually feel... annoyance at the comment made by Nanoha. After all, what if these notes held the key to their freedom? Nanoha certainly didn't know any better! She couldn't see that this was their hope! Yes... their only hope of leaving this place... In fact, Nanoha's outburst could be enough to make Selene completely ignore her warning and just read the note...
See? Selene was right! There was a way out, and these notes held the key!... But why did it seem to make Selene more single-minded in purpose? What's drawing her into wanting to read ALL of these damned notes? Well, there was still a lot of the school left to explore! The dead end on their right was no go, but the intersection on the left led north to the school. The path was riddled with holes and the occasional bloody elementary school shoe, but nothing of value. At least, not to Selene, anyway. To Saito and Nanoha though, they were newspaper clippings that pieced together a very gruesome story... But first things first. They need to help the teacher - she looked really hurt. Wait, Selene, why are you impatient about wanting to help her? Wouldn't your healing magic work in this situation best? |

"Nanoha-chan? W-why are you trying to stop me?" Selene retorted indignantly as Nanoha tried to hold her back as the pumpkin-haired girl attempted to read the bloody note that she'd retrieved from the dead girl's hand. It was clear - or perhaps not so clear; depending on how well one knew Selene - that the corporate heiress wasn't being her normal self. While the English heiress' eyes were normally bright with benevolence and a wisdom beyond her years, one might start to notice the brightness was being slowly replaced by a wild glimmer, like that of someone who was slowly being driven mad from despair. "Don't you see?" Selene remarked, the corporate heiress appearing to (even if so subtly) become ever so unhinged as she spoke with a tone of impatience that was unlike what her friends would normally hear from her. "If others have wound up in this accursed place before us... then perhaps some of them made it out alive! And who knows, they may have left us some clues to how we might do the same, right?" the pumpkin-haired girl remarked, before uncrumpling the bloody note to read its contents. "So... apparently not all of the spirits here are malevolent, I think some of them might actually be out to help us..." the corporate heiress remarked as the note's author mentioned of meeting a ghost with half her head missing - and Selene could only wonder; was it the same ghost with half her head missing that she'd seen earlier? "We need to do something about your injuries first, Shishido-sensei," the corporate heiress remarked as she dismissed her Valkyrie, and in her place summoning forth the Dryad. ![]() "Let's hope this helps with your wound," the pumpkin-haired girl remarked as the lesser Aeon cast her healing spell on the injured teacher, a warm golden glow lighting up the surroundings as the Dryad bathed Yui in a warm and soothing golden light that would serve to enhance her natural healing factor to speed up the healing of injuries, and once that was done Selene would turn to the others. "Let's go, we still have plenty of ground to cover... and more clues to discover as to how we might get out of this accursed place," the corporate heiress remarked, her tone of voice and the look in her eyes making her seem like she'd become a totally different person. Nanoha visibly rolled her eyes up at Selene’s reasoning. “If they got out… then why are the notes coming from the dead bodies?” Nanoha replied angrily, finding somewhat to her surprise that she was arguing about this with Selene of all people. But the situation stands at that Selene was doing something she doesn’t like especially after reading the warning. She was half contemplating of using Raising Heart to knock it out of her but thought how silly that would be. But the temptation to do it was there. With the discovery of the injured teacher now in their midst, Nanoha was more than ready to just stay put and hope something might come their way to get them out of here. She was worried too about the teacher who gave them some morbid information of what else could be roaming in these accursed dark halls. “Sensei, how many of you were here?” Nanoha asked the obvious. The thought that there were others besides them was somewhat comforting and she hoped that with numbers they can overcome this strange place. But Selene however would rather seem to have none of it, urging the others to find more clues. “Selene-san, I think we shouldn’t do anything rash until we find the others first.” Nanoha suggested politely. “We need to wait for Seth and that girl Seiko to come back first before we go anywhere.” |

"There were nine of us when the earthquake hit," Yui said in response to Nanoha's question. "When I woke up, it was only myself and two of my other students, Shinozaki-san and Kishinuma-san, and I went out to try and find the others. I... ended up meeting a malevolent ghost who pinned me down with a shelf and caused this." Saito cringed as he saw the level of damage done to her arm. There was a lot of blood lost from the assault with said ghost. With that in mind, he was about to rip off some clothing from his shirt to staunch the bleeding when Selene spoke. "We need to do something about your injuries first, Shishido-sensei," Selene said as she dismissed her Valkyrie and summoned her Dryad to heal the woman's wounds. It sort of worked... to limited effect, anyway. The bleeding stopped, but the pain remained. And as suddenly as she did that, she was already making plans to move out. "Oi, we can't really go anywhere without her, can we? At least make sure your magic did the trick," Saito groaned. "I think it helped..." Yui managed to groan. "The bleeding's stopped at least. Still sore though... anyway, after that, I passed out, and found myself here. There were footsteps, and I tried to see what was going on and I just saw these two little girls being chased by a man with a sledgehammer... I think the other one had powers like your friend because she just made some kind of weird shout and sent the man down the hall..." Wait. A little girl who throws people around with her shout? Saito frowned at that. "Sounds like a particular troll I know. Was she a blonde kid wearing a black headband with eight notes in them?" he asked as he supported her up on her good shoulder. "I couldn't tell... but she was blonde," she said. Well, that certainly narrowed things down. But she said she had another survivor with her?... Either way, Selene seemed to be focused on something else completely different. There was the sound of a door opening and closing, but nothing anyone else heard. Only her. If she ran to the end of the west hall where she heard the sound and she would find an unlocked door that led to a dilapidated shower room. None of the showers worked - no matter how hard anyone tried to turn the knobs, no water would emerge. Actually, how long have they even been here? Did they ever get a chance to drink something before leaving? |

"Glad to be of help, Yui-sensei," Selene remarked with a curt bow and a smile, although there was something off about the corporate heiress' smile; and even as the rest of the group were discussing their next course of action, the pumpkin-haired girl's attention was turned... somewhere else. "Anyone else heard that?" Selene asked as she strained her ears to listen. "Sounds like a door nearby... opening and closing... it's over to the west..." the corporate heiress commented, glancing down the length of the hallway where she apparently heard the noise. "Do you think somebody might be over there? Like possibly one of the others who got separated from the group? Or perhaps more people who have been trapped here by the curse? Don't you think we should find out either way?" the corporate heiress asked, waiting for the others' input. |

Nanoha listened to the teacher's story, and gathered as much that they are truly not alone here after all, even if they're all separated all over the building. The question whether they'll get together again remains to be seen however, and it involves whether they should actively search for them, or in Selene's case, find something which only they can hear or see. "Hear what?" Nanoha asked curtly while standing up suddenly again. "Selene-san something is very wrong here if you're hearing and seeing things we can't." Nanoha was having none of her nonsense right now and she's making one too head start into something they have no idea about. |

"Are you allright, Selene? The rest of us didn't hear it either," Saito added. "Look, maybe we should rest up a bit, I think this place is starting to get to you..." But tt seemed that there would be no time to worry about that at this point. Selene would no longer feel compelled to listen to the rest of her group anymore, only feel the urgent need to find the answers she desperately sought. Perhaps something in the back of her mind would scream out that something was very wrong, as if something was controlling her thoughts and actions, as if she were caught in some kind of curse... but it didn't matter anymore. She needed to find the way out of this place, everyone else be damned! She would find that the pull is hardest towards the third locker inside the shower room, one that had one last note in it covered in blood. Nothing mattered anymore. Not the protests from Saito, or the wounds on Ms. Yui, or Nanoha's words. All she needed to do was read that note... And anyone who tried to stop her... ... Was her enemy. "Hey partner, something's not right with Selene! She's got some kind of [CLANK]in' darkness all about her!" Del yelled. "Yui-sensei, get behind me for now! Something's got a hold on Selene!" Saito yelled as he pulled out Delflinger with his right hand while supporting and defending Yui with his left arm. Sure enough, there were tendrils of darkness that were wrapping themselves around Selene's legs, crawling upwards as if preparing to bind Selene to its will... Though for all intents and purposes, it was already too late. Edited by Pikachu_Fragger, Apr 29 2014, 04:24 AM.

Even as the curse woven by the malicious spirits of this accursed placed tightened over their hold over Selene, a part of the corporate heiress retained her better judgment, and could sense something diabolical at work as she found herself being inexorably drawn towards the bloody notes, thinking them to be clues that might prove to the group's salvation. "No, please stop! Something evil is at work here!" The better part of Selene's judgment screamed at herself from the back of her mind; but the pumpkin-haired magus could neither hear herself nor her friends as she made her way past the shower stalls, towards the lockers at the end of the shower room, where an unseen, inexplicable force tugged at her, driving her forward. "It is as I suspected, another one of them..." Selene remarked, a sinister tone highlighting her voice as she discovered yet another bloodstained note in the third locker. "No! Don't do this!" And for a moment the corporate heiress hesitated as she picked up the note, briefly regaining her lucidity just as tendrils of darkness appeared and began crawling up her legs, a sinister force taking control of Selene, a fleeting expression of worried concern crossing the corporate heiress' face as she faced Saito and the others, managing to croak one word of warning to the group. "Get out of here... save yourselves..." And then she was gone - or at least the Selene everyone knew of - as the corporate heiress unfolded the bloodstained note to examine its contents, and on the paper was but one sentence. "Clear out the excess baggage. There can be only one." "Looks like the only way out of here... is that there can be only one..." The corporate heiress remarked in a cold, steely tone of voice as she looked at her friends with an icy, soulless gaze, lifting her ritual dagger. "Don't take this personally, but I have every intention of returning to the world of the living... Dryad, return!" And with that, Selene dismissed the her supportive caster summon, and in her place summoning her offense-oriented summon. "Come hither, Valkyrie!" ![]() "Valkyrie..." there was a slight pause in the corporate heiress' voice, as if part of her was still trying to resist the corruption from within. "...kill." Selene ordered coldly as she pointed to the group; and with a nod, the Valkyrie raised her twin swords in a combative stance, unquestioningly loyal to her summoner even in her (Selene's) corrupted state, staring down the group and waiting for any of them to make their move. |

What ever dark hands were in power of this building, it has pulled the strings only ever so gently as without heed of the voices that dares to fights against it. Why it did so no one can tell, but the resulting mood and turn of event pretty were inevitable. And no sooner than they feared the worst, it came to them. In the form of Selene's new summon coming at them brandishing its sword with every intention to kill. Nanoha jumped back, surprised and only managed to hold up her hand to against the blade to raise a round shield that stood between her and certain death. "Selene-san!" Nanoha pleaded to her, not knowing it would reach her at all or not. "Raising Heat!" Nanoha called out to her Device with a free raised hand, "Shoot!" Four orbs of energy shot out from her sides to arc around the shield and hit the Valkyrie in her sides. "What do we do now?" Nanoha asked the others, finding the situation they are in very, very dire, and it was all the she's doing to keep her powers in check lest she accidentally hurts someone she doesn't mean to. |

"You've got long-range magic to work with. I'll deal with the summon while you go after Selene! If you knock her out, you should be able to dispel it!" Saito said as he too raised his sword at the Valkyrie at the ready. "Wait, kids! It looks like something else is happening!" Yui gasped. It would seem that the Darkening that was enveloping Selene was also empowering the Valkyrie as well. The armor around the Valkyrie became dark and somewhat corrupted, and it would seem as though it gave the twin swords more length and power with energy from the Darkening! "There's gotta be a way to dispel that [CLANK], aibou! Any ideas?" "Dunno, but if you've got an idea Nanoha, I'm all ears! For now, keep Yui-sensei safe for me!" Saito said as he charged towards Selene while trying to bypass her Valkyrie, and attacked her with an overhead slash! Of course, it wouldn't be with the blade facing her - he was going to try knocking her out with the blunt edge of Del! Of course, the Darkening might have a more empowering effect on Selene than anyone anticipated... Edited by Pikachu_Fragger, Jun 10 2014, 07:54 AM.
