When Selene opened the crumpled note, her mind was immediately assaulted with a malevolent stream of bloody images. Faces of dead children, blood spattered everywhere and dripping off the walls, the grin of a girl missing one eye as she opened her mouth to bite down on Selene's neck and ripping her head off, briefly showing that she had no tongue like the rest of the ghosts surrounding her...

And then it was gone. The images of death were shown briefly, but painfully, as Selene would feel a brief migraine that turned into a dull ache as she read the note:

Victim's Memoirs #1

We've been walking around this accursed school for what feels like days now... I'm so hungry and thirsty. Kain bled to death because of those ghosts... we've managed to hide from them, but for how long can we do that?

Tomoe's starting to get antsy too... she wants to climb the fence and head out into the woods, but I doubt it'll be any safer out there than here. Akihiko and Hato are bickering at each other as usual, and Yuma's probably the only sane one left amongst us, and has helped us evade the ghosts so far.

What can we do if those guys find us again!? If only there was some way of reasoning with the ghosts... find out what they want and appease them...

Even as Selene read the note, she felt a strange tug at the back of her mind... as if a part of her was caught in puppet strings and was slowly being reeled her into the pace of whoever was holding the end of the line...

However, for Saito, even though he was next to Selene, he would find himself unaffected by whatever evil magic was unleashed by the opening of the note.

Meanwhile, Nanoha's light revealed to Seth two things. One, was that there was a giant, gaping hole on the left corner of the classroom, and that the crumpled mass that he was kicking just now... belonged to a girl.

"Ngghhh... nyaaa..."

Posted Image

...

A... totally living girl! She was alive and well, and she was-

...

Near the edge of the hole near where said girl was sleeping was a pile of bleached bones that belonged to a small child in a school uniform. Good thing Seth didn't decide to kick THAT lump.

Of course, nudging the sleeping girl caused her eyes to flutter open, and the first thing she would see was the skull of the child looking back at her, causing her to scream in horror. Then she would see Seth, and scream even louder as she backed up against the door.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! DON'T KILL ME! OH GOD, PLEASE, DON'T KILL ME! IT HURTS!"

... Wait, what? Kill her? Like the corpse next to Seth? Surely Seth isn't THAT twisted, is he?

Be sure to watch out for that hole, don't stupidly fall through it just because you didn't see it. Except he'd be too focused on the suddenly and shockingly stirring pile of mass he just kicked, stepping back slightly in alarm before noticing it was... a girl?

Wait- hold on, who is-?

He didn't even have the chance to voice his curiosity. He couldn't help but jump at the sudden piercing scream in the otherwise eerily dark and quiet atmosphere, and for some reason he seriously doesn't like to be so loud at the moment! "W-wait! Calm down, I'm not here to hurt you!" He spoke up over her own screaming, raising his empty hands and staying where he is, at least just to show he doesn't mean any harm.

Though there was no doubt, his mind was working very frantically right now somewhere at the back of his head. There's... actually people around here... living people? He thought this place was like... some sort of desolate ruin. It definitely looks the part. Who the heck is she? Has she been caught up in the same situation as the others...? Anyone else around? So many questions he wanted to ask... well, when she decides not to get freaked out any more, that is.

"Here goes..." Selene took a deep breath, giving Nanoha and Saito a nod as a means of thanking them for providing a source of light. And then the corporate heiress proceeded to unfurl the paper, only to suddenly let out a brief shriek as images flashed through her mind - visions of the dead, blood everywhere. "They're dead! Blood... so much blood... no, away from me!" Selene exclaimed, barely coherent before the corporate heiress sank to her knees, clutching her head in her hands, breathing in ragged gasps.

"It's all right... I'm fine... I'm fine..." Selene muttered as she slowly rose to her feet, grabbing hold of Saito's arm as an assist to help pull herself back up, before proceeding to read the contents of the message out loud. "So looks like we're not the first ones to fall into this..." the corporate heiress remarked, a certain understanding dawning on her. Sadly, while versed in magic, the workings of the spirit world was a largely unexplored subject for the Frostfire magus - and that was the biggest problem, how do they even combat a foe that they do not comprehend? As far as she knew, ghosts are not bound to the same rules as demons and other material foes are, and hence dealing with a malevolent spiritual being is never simple as just blasting it to oblivion.

"I wonder how long they managed to last, though?" the corporate heiress remarked as she kept the note. "And if there are others in here who lasted longer, maybe they might have learned something more about what evil holds sway over this place, and perhaps clues to overcoming it..." the corporate heiress continued. "There isn't anything more over here, so let's move on and see how thing are going over at Seth-kun's side."

Suffice to say, the screaming girl gave Nanoha a fright, so much that she was visibly shaken and her breathing quickened at the intensity of the girl’s scream and utter horror at whatever scared her this much. Nanoha, a high class mage who has exceptional magical powers at her disposal, was scared. Though of course she can’t hardly be blamed for it as it wasn’t a physical threat but rather mental. The school building seems to have an effect on her psyche in some way.

After she calmed herself down, she went up with Seth to help and try to calm the girl as well. “It’s okay, no one here’s going to kill anyone. Please, calm down.” Nanoha tried to assure the girl with her own voice somewhat slightly shaken. “We’re here to help.”

Of all the things that they could've found in this god-forsaken place, a girl that seemed completely alive and well certainly wasn't very high up on the list. For all they knew, it looked like the poor thing was just as scared out of her wits as they were, what with all the screaming about how Seth was going to kill her...not that Saito was particularly calm, considering how Selene had suddenly started screaming and grabbed onto his arm.

Being grabbed out of the blue had made his heart rate go from steady and stable to lightning fast, and it was taking a fair bit of effort to get it back down again. The stolen glances over at the pile of bleached bones probably weren't helping all that much, but they were just something that you couldn't resist looking at. Nevermind the girl scared out of her mind, they had to figure out just how long those bones had been here...

...and how they'd gotten there.

"God knows. All I know is that it doesn't fill me with confidence. I mean, sure, they might have been there for days or decades, but how did they get here? Or, even better, why are they here?" Saito asked without really wanting to find out the answers, but nevertheless following Selene over to the others. If there was one thing he'd learned from spending so many nights curled up all by his lonesome and watching horror movies, it was that splitting up was a really dumb idea.

"Hey there, missy, what's your name?"

Of course, a disembodied voice talking directly talking to someone scared out of their mind was a much better idea.

The girl backed up into the corner of the room, still scared of Seth's sudden appearance. It took Nanoha's and (hilariously enough) Del's urging as well to help calm her down, though the latter made her think it was Saito trying to sound too friendly.
"Haaah... haah... sorry... you guys really are alive..." she breathed deeply. "I didn't think I'd ever see another living soul here, especially since that other ghost told us that we were the only ones in this school..."

After fully calming down, she stood up and dusted herself off. "I'm Seiko Shinohara from Kisaragi Academy, class 2-9. My classmates and I were doing this little charm called the 'Sachiko Ever After Charm' for our friend, Suzumoto-san, who was transferring schools. All of a sudden there was some kind of earthquake that brought us here... or at least, myself and Naomi -"
The girl seemed to suddenly realize what she was implying with that statement. "Naomi! Shit... I was just with her a few moments ago! We managed to make up after a slight argument after she was attacked in the infirmary by a ghost, but she ran away because of... something I said..." she said with a twinge of sadness in her voice. "I don't know how I ended up in this part of the school, but I need to get a hold of Naomi at least. Please, can you help me find her and our other classmates? If you found me, there has to be a way to find them too!"

The girl seemed normal enough, though something about her seemed eerily off. It wasn't the kind that implied that she was lying about her situation, it was more as if something about her being here was wrong. However, she was friendly enough and wasn't threatening anyone - in fact, given that she wasn't from Hyakuji it was safe say that she was a normal girl brought here at the worst (or best) possible time. Such a nagging suspicion was easily brushed off in lieu of more important questions - questions that came from her.

"Who are you guys, by the way? I don't recognize that school uniform... though it DOES look pretty fancy~" Seiko asked. "And what's that staff thing you got there? It shines pretty brightly like a beacon and it looks pretty cool!" she asked Nanoha in particular.

...Hold on hold on... Sachiko...? And then earthquake...?

...Well damn... looks like his suspicion actually hit the mark... Or one of it anyway, it's a little bit too much of a coincidence to find someone else at this place claiming they had done the very same ritual to the very same effect...

That doesn't exactly explain much though, since they're probably in the same boat as they are...

...Never mind, some of what the girl just said seemed to leave little impact on him at least, considering... yeah, Hyakuji and all. Nevertheless it did leave a little insight of this place's nature (he hoped). I mean... ghosts? Clearly this is an abandoned school but this is definitely not just any abandoned school... on Earth...

Okay so there was barely any lead, so screw him. "...Fine then, if we're going to find the others then let's get moving..." He said curtly, tearing his attention away from the rest of the group and the girl as he immediately made his way towards the front door of the classroom. Just because they found one person doesn't mean they found the others...

Cold man...

And a stroke of luck. The discovery of the notes and the human remains suggested that they weren't the only ones to wind up in this realm, and now they have come across (what appears to be) the first living person other than themselves, one girl known as Shinohara Seiko from Kisaragi Academy, who by her accounts ended up here in the exact same way, via that Sachiko Ever After charm that Aisia had gotten them to try out. Although the mention of attacks by ghosts prompted the corporate heiress to be on guard - so there ARE non-human denizens in this plane afterall, and from the sound of it were hostile towards the living.

"I'm Selene Frostfire, and these are friends of mine. We study in Hyakuji High, and ended up in here after we performed the same spell known as "Sachiko Ever After", waking up in this dilapidated school after an earthquake happened," the corporate heiress bowed slightly as she introduced herself to Seiko. "We're a high school whose population mostly consists of people with super powers of all kinds," the pumpkin-haired girl explained as Seiko showed amazement towards Nanoha's weapon, Raising Heart.

"Let's go, we'll find Naomi-chan," the corporate heiress remarked as Seth was the first to press on, not seeming to bother with introducing himself or discussing any potential plans of action with the rest of the group or the newfound survivor. "And I suggest that you stay close to us, Seiko-chan," Selene commented as she drew her ritual dagger, drawing a trickle of blood from her hand before clenching her blooded hand into a tight fist as she chanted in an arcane language, a blue glow surrounding the girl as glowing runes manifested in midair around her, akin to a holography display as her hair and clothing billowed from a wind that whipped up out of nowhere.

"I summon thee, Valkyrie!" the corporate heiress, spread out her arms as a blue-white spell circle appeared on the ground before her, a column of white light radiating from the center of the magic circle as a familiar armor-clad figure materialized before the English heiress, planting her swords into the ground before saluting her master as the spell circle faded away, once more plunging their surroundings into a dreary darkness.

"Let's go then, shall we?" Selene remarked as she followed after Seth, with her summoned Valkyrie in tow, glancing back to ensure that Nanoha, Saito and Seiko were keeping up and everyone was within sight.

The discovery of someone still alive here amongst the ruins and other terrible discoveries did little alleviate Nanoha's worry about this foreboding place. But she kept her cool and calm and smiled assuringly at Seiko who was relieved of finding them; no reason to make her worry.

"I'm Nanoha Go, also from Hyakuji High as well. And this is Raising Heart." She introduced herself and her glowing Device.

[Nice to meet you!]

"Right, let's move on then." Nanoha said, following behind the others, unable to make a decision for her own and leaving it to the others to lead the way forward into wherever they go.

Well, that certainly got the poor girl to calm down for a few seconds, even if the information that she gave their little group wasn't very heartening. If there were more people here, then this was something bigger than just the usual Hyakuji hijinks that came with going to the school...and judging by the pile of bleached bones next to the giant hole in the floor, it wasn't anything good.

...but, just sitting still and scared out of their minds wasn't going to do them any good. They needed to get moving, get away from this place, and they needed to do it fast.

"Nice to meet you, Seiko. I'm Saito, and my partner here's Derflinger. Now then, now that everyone's all warm and friendly, can we make a move? This place creeps me right the hell out."

Gripping the sword tightly against his body, he followed in Nanoha's footsteps with more than a little trepidation, not really wanting to find out what was waiting for them in the unexplored depths of Heavenly Host Elementary.

"Nice to meet you too," Seiko cheerily replied to everyone except Seth, mostly because she didn't have a chance to when he just walked out of the room without so much as a peep. "Err... not to be rude, but is he always like that? Or is he just worried about your other friends?" she warily asked.

Either way, the entire party managed to get out of the room and into the hallway past the hole. There were more flyers posted on the walls as well, some of them cryptic, and others just creepy. One in particular made Seiko gulp:

Quote:

Are you sure that the one with you is a real person?

They reached the end of the hallway without incident, however, and there were two paths to take. The one on the left led upstairs, while the one on the right lead deeper into the school grounds, towards the science lab and the infirmary. Which way should the group go? Or perhaps they should split up?
"Upstairs is just the boys and girls' restrooms... but something is weird about one of the stalls in the girl's room... it always feels so drafty for some reason," Seiko explained.

Meanwhile, on the ground, was another note, one that tugged at Selene in particular to get to and read regardless of whoever got to it first:

Victim's Memoirs #2

... Now Tomoe's gone too. Just went up and left towards the forest in an attempt to find a way back to civilization. I get the feeling though that she's lost to us... something that didn't sit well with Hato in particular. Now even Yuma's starting to get nervous and lose her cool. She even slapped Akihiko, something that I've never seen her do even on her worst days. She was never the kind of person for confrontation, so one has to wonder if this place is just slowly changing us.

Also, that one headless girl is starting to show up more often before us... she wasn't the one who killed Kain but still... it's unnerving to see her just watching us from afar like some kind of stalker. And yet... she doesn't seem to want to kill us either. I can't tell whether it's because I'm the only one who sees her or not, but the others don't seem to notice her.

What does she want, anyway?

In the distance near the infirmary, a small glow coming from a girl could be seen... but if Selene were to ask anyone else about it, they wouldn't see it. Even for Selene, she couldn't see much of the girl's face to begin with, as she was lacking, well... most of her head.

The girl didn't approach them from the other end of the hall, but seemed to just peer curiously at Selene in particular.

What the hell was going on? And where would the group end up venturing at this point in their effort to find everyone else and/or Naomi?

Alright... think positively at least... They found... someone, who claimed to have been tossed into this situation the same way as they had... Being optimistic, there others have got to be close by, yeah?

Yeah...

...Don't fool himself, he's worried as hell...

Reaching the branching path he stopped in his track, glancing between the two paths shrouded in darkness taking note of Seiko's words. A momentary contemplation before he decided by his own accord, "...You guys stay down here," He said curtly, cautiously making his way upstairs without any idea of what to expect...

"Don't worry about Seth-kun, he's actually a pretty nice guy once you get to know him a bit better. He just has a tendency to be a little uptight at times, especially in situations like these..." Selene replied to Seiko, who - quite understandably - found Seth's current behavior a cause for concern. As Selene left the room with the rest of the group with her Valkyrie in tow, the corporate heiress stole a glance at the flyers that lined the hallway that they were now heading down, showing various messages, some cryptic and others outright creepy, although Seiko seemed to be particularly unnerved by one that read, "Are you sure that the one with you is a real person?".

"Look, someone left another note here," the corporate heiress remarked as they reached the end of the hallway, with the first thing the pumpkin-haired girl noticing was another note being left on the ground, and for reasons unknown to her, she felt a nagging urge to pick it up and read it. "Now this doesn't look good... if what the writer of this note says is true, there is some force in this place that influences the way we think and act; hey Seth-kun, you shouldn't be running off like-" Selene remarked , trying to stop Seth from splitting from the group, at least until she found herself being interrupted by noticing a faint light coming from the corner of her eye, causing the corporate heiress to turn her head to trace its source, and found it to be none other than what appeared to be the ghost of a girl, who was strangely and gruesomely missing most of her head, looking (?) at the group from the other end of the hall, near the infirmary.

"Hey, did anyone notice a headless ghost... over at other end of the hall, near the infirmary?" the pumpkin-haired girl asked as she pointed at where the headless ghost stood, as the Valkyrie raised her blades, ready to spring to her master's defense. "What does she want?" the corporate heiress wondered; despite her lack of eyes, for some reason Selene felt that the ghost was looking at her in particular, causing her to inch closer towards Nanoha, Saito and the others - not knowing whether she should try to communicate with the ghost, or just sic her Valkyrie on what could be a potential threat.

Nanoha was fine with being their guiding light in this dim, dark world they have fallen into. It was the only thing she could think of doing right now for the others who were actively exploring their surroundings. The place gave her the chills as it is and she didn’t feel like wanting to look too closely at anything here anytime soon for fear of what it would do to her sanity. That didn’t stop the others from stating out their finds however, sparing every single detail they could.

“Hey, did anyone notice a headless ghost... over at other end of the hall, near the infirmary?" Said Selene, adding her own chilling discovery.

Nanoha wished she didn’t look, but her first reaction as to shine Raising Heart in the general direction of the infirmary, only to see nothing much to her relief though her heart was beating fast expecting the worse.

“I… I don’t see anyone?” Nanoha said, almost stammering. “Is it your imagination?”
