Occupation: Corporate Executive, CEO and founder of Morris Powered Electronics.
Powers/ Abilities:

Psychometric Intuition:

Simon's primary ability is to have a supernatural insight into the people he is speaking to. While not outright telepathy, Simon will intuitively know key details about whomever he is speaking to, such as what motivates the person, what they fear, and to some degree important events in that person's life. The stronger a thought, fact, or memory is in the subject's consciousness, the more easily he can learn it. In simpler terms, Simon always knows what to say in order to manipulate people to his own ends, though his intuition has limitations:

1. Simon cannot learn anything the individual does not know.
2. Information that the individual does not want others to know about them is much more difficult to learn.
3. Certain minds are partially or even completely immune to being subject to this ability. Simon has no idea why this is, and is bothered when it comes up. Out of character, a user may simply decide to have Simon's ability not work on their character at their discretion.
4. Insanity = No coherent reading. Ian/Jean is immune to it completely, being heavily unstable and having a different brain structure. Similar characters may be difficult or also impossible to read, though Simon can tell the difference between insanity and immunity to his ability caused by 3.

It is worth noting that his ability works on supernatural or non-human beings. Anything sentient is potentially susceptible to his Intuition, though ostensibly beings of higher power/consciousness than he can simply block his ability.

Avatar of Despair:

Simon's existence is inhuman, though his body is completely human. A combination of many factors led to Simon coming to be. Humanity has always questioned why it must suffer. Cursing and anger at higher powers for misfortune and pain in life has led many to renounce faith in deities and spirits over human history. The sheer resentment and belief that humanity suffers for a reason created many malignant spirits and negative emotional magic sources to tap. Simon is the human incarnation of one such spirit, and is aware of this fact. Not a very major one, even, he just likes to personally meddle in human affairs to pursue an agenda.

Those with spiritual senses will essentially have a "false positive" with Simon, mistaking him to be spiritual in nature. This is true, his spirit being formed of belief, but Simon is far from being a benevolent being. Those who, through some way or another, glimpse his true nature are subjected to dreadful visions, some unrelated to Simon entirely.

He has many names, though does not remember them all nor answer to them. Those that he does remember are: Ya'ash in Hebrew, Iblis in Arabic (not to be confused with the mythical Iblis, however), Evanthos in Latin, The Plague in Europe, and Mr. Pennybags as a common pseudonym when online. He has recently remembered being referred to by the name Asenath as well in the past.

Simon's true form is abstract, given his nature. Should he be forced to assume it through some way, such as being forced out of his human body, he will assume his true form: A fetus made out of puppet strings, the threads radiating outwards in a flat circle around him that shifts and orbits like a planetary ring. On the edge of that ring are porcelain dolls that hang downward, as if either controlled by his strings or lynched by them, though the dolls always hang straight downward despite any movement of his body or orbital ring, even phasing through each other if necessary. His neck is segmented like a centipede, his head thrashing and convulsing in an erratic way, and his closed eyes dim faintly into pure blackness, a droplet of pure, concentrated existential misery forming his core essence within the fetus' skull.

Spirit of Despair's Divine Splinters:

Simon is capable of manipulating splinters of souls. He is unable to influence an entire soul, not even his own spiritual form, though he can control minute bits. All the suffering and despair Simon has inflicted and fed upon at Hyakuji has nourished him to where his spirit has ascended in power, and thus his influence grows.

Primarily, Simon can shed tiny slivers of his essence and implant them within others. This is a process that requires the target to be feeling significant, if not immense, amounts of despair. If Simon is in the presence of such a person, he can willingly shed a sliver of himself. The sliver will then emerge from his body in the form of an inky black floating wisp and fly at the victim. Should it successfully phase into the victim's body, it will essentially poison them spiritually. This inflicts chronic depression and fatigue, as well as lingering self-doubt and negativity. A sort of general malaise. The effects are magnified severely if the target lacks a soul, as then Simon's sliver essentially is the only spirit they have. If a victim with a sliver of Simon's essence within their soul is driven to further and further despair, they will risk being overwhelmed by the sliver in their spirits, magnifying their pain to even greater suffering. This can, however, amplify their latent powers significantly in some cases, occasionally tempting victims to give into their despair in order to attack something they hate. If someone is totally consumed by despair, their minds and wills to live totally broken, Simon's essence will consume them from the inside and allow Simon to partially exist inside of them, always present inside their heads, though he can only speak, never control. It takes a profoundly intense, painful, and difficult ritual to purify one's soul of taint, if it hasn't been totally submerged by suffering, but it is possible to perform by skilled magic users specializing in spiritual magic or priests.

Secondarily, Simon can tear out pieces of the souls of his enemies. This once again requires the victim to be in a state of severe anguish. Simon essentially mutilates the soul and rips a piece of it out of the victim, either absorbing it to sustain himself or simply destroying it if he doesn't feel such would be necessary. In either case, the victim is left with a deep feeling of being incomplete, as their very soul has been damaged significantly. Psychological effects vary between victims, but being more prone to negative emotions is the most common effect. Damaged souls will regrow over time, taking about an in-character month without some sort of spiritual healing. Until then, however, the victim will be plagued by the reality that they simply aren't all there. Soulless beings are not affected by this power at all. In the case of ghosts or other spiritual beings however, this ability can be used to shred them apart, annihilating even the dead.

Suffering Empowerment:

Simon's single-minded motivation in life is to make others suffer, though he is quite methodical about it rather than blatant. He is drawn towards individuals who suffer instinctively, and feelings of despair, misery, powerlessness, and hatred empower him. The more suffering Simon causes or is in proximity to, the more pleasure he feels, the more extensively he can analyze people with his primary ability, and the amount of time he is able to exist in the world increases, even if he was killed. Simon's spirit will always exist in some form or another, so even if his human body is killed, one can be assured that a new identity for his spirit will crop up very quickly. Theoretically, the way to get rid of him more permanently would be to murder his human body and then seal his spirit away. He can possess beings or objects without souls if separated from his body, though is not able to control sentient beings until their minds have succumbed to despair completely. This is made possible through Simon psychologically and emotionally torturing the victim, exposure to his true, pure evil helping quite a bit. Note that this is not something I will have him do to unwilling RPers' characters.

Proxy Network:

Simon is able to possess those who feel sufficient, all-consuming despair and anguish, this has been established already and is how he jumps from body to body every century or so for an amount of time he's not sure of. What he's finally hit a breakthrough on, however, is being able to do so remotely.

Worse yet, he's been able to split his attention and possess multiples at a time, though he must be aware of them at the moment and thus needs to be actively observing, even if just remotely.

This results in a situation of Simon now possessing a handful of agents across Hyakuji, forming a simultaneous spy network and sorts of "antennae" for Simon to communicate to and influence others through. Obviously, he can only freely possess nameless NPCs without any abilities this way, though in theory if someone explicitly asked me to have Simon step in on their suffering character, he'd be able to possess them.

In practice, the goal here is to increase Simon's ability to manipulate others by being in multiple places at the same time in effect, controlling several NPCs at once to both both act and spy, and allowing him to indulge in his verbal sadism on characters through an intermediary, so Simon need not risk his carefully-maintained public face.

Equipment You Have:

Phone, briefcase, laptop computer for business, and things that any high-ranking corporate executive would be expected to have. This includes bodyguards at times.

Residency Request:

Simon lives outside of Hyakuji proper at an undisclosed location, though spends most of his time within the city in various hotel suites to run his business and visit the area.

Personality Description:

Simon is literally my conception of unforgivable evil, let's get that out of the way first. He has no redeeming traits, is horrifying in so many ways, and is disgusting to behold when he drops his exterior deceptions. He is, in TvTropes terms, a true Complete Monster.

Apathetic, cruel, ingeniously calculating, and very composed, Simon's internal and external personalities differ severely. On the outside, he is a kind businessman who sponsors many charitable organizations, offers Hyakuji students employment opportunities, and donates money to the school itself while running a business in electronics. Simon's company produces, among conventional goods such as computers and other personal devices, defense systems, and has assisted in the construction of mecha in the past. Simon expresses an honest motivation to protect Hyakuji and ensure it stays safe, something that even lie detectors will identify as true.

This is because Simon believes that it is humanity's purpose to suffer for eternity as long as they live. Thus, Simon acts to preserve humanity in order to feed off its suffering and prolong his recurring existence, viewing them as slave-like livestock. Maintaining status quo and keeping humanity mired in the tortured cycle of birth, suffering, death, and rebirth is his ultimate goal. He wants nothing more than for every last person on earth to exist in despair for all time, sustaining their lives to preserve his own enjoyment. All of his words are a facade, and he takes great adoration of manipulating humans into conflicts which eternally spawn more and more suffering and despair.

One of his favorite concepts is that of corruption. Simon derives immense pleasure from the perversion and twisting of someone good and happy into someone more like him: intent on inflicting despair on others, and hateful of everything else. He employs his Intuition ability to extremely dangerous effect, steadily preying on a victim's flaws and insecurities with "irrefutable logic" backed up by appeals to their worst fears and biases. He is a tempter, a seducer, and a destroyer of goodness. His words are so venomous and dangerous, that he finds it pathetically easy to manipulate average people to his liking, though strong-willed students are another matter. He is a master of feeding people the perfect mix of what they want to hear and what they don't want to believe, due to his Intuition. Being alone with Simon and his words is a dangerous situation for a character's mental and emotional health, though there's nothing stopping someone from beating the snot out of him if he's alone.

He has no appreciation for anything besides despair and suffering, besides that which is useful to him. He eats frugal meals merely to sustain his body, claiming that wasting money on luxury is misuse of his company's resources all the while to build public support of him. Simon tends to dislike ambient noise (save for screaming, crying, etc.) as "distracting", leading his employees to respect him as a very driven, focused man with a strong sense of social justice. After all, Simon commits himself very seriously and visibly to the preservation of life and liberty, even having a very modest salary for a corporate executive. Simon sees little point in luxuries, so he is perfectly willing to reduce his own paycheck and subsist as modestly as he can for the company's benefit. Luxuries get in the way of efficiency.

Simon's view of life itself is purely negative, finding it obstructive to suffering, filled with too much false pleasure and happiness. All living things are blind cattle to be milked for despair until they perish from it, to be reborn as slaves to his appetite for despair again and again. Nonhuman life is pathetic and worthless, as he is not born of it, though he still derives pleasure from making other sentients suffer. Ideally, however, all living things would exist eternally, suspended forever in timeless agony. He is thus a prominent sponsor and developer of cybernetic technology, stating (honestly) that he wishes to see life transcend mortality in the future.

Public perception of Simon is highly positive, given his social generosity, commitment to the 'improvement' of humanity, and monthly contributions to charity organizations he has founded. A publicly visible record is available on the Morris Powered Electronics website, detailing how much money goes where (with a whole subsection on charity and public welfare research), leading corporate transparency advocates and moral citizens alike to laud Simon as a progressive. He always gives just enough money to preserve the helpless and crippled, while never enough to solve their woes.

Nobody, as of yet, knows of Simon's true nature. A hand-picked team of psychopaths culled from his organizations and businesses, sometimes even international students participating in company-sponsored exchange programs, form his unofficial elite. Simon personally investigates each and every last one of them, both looking into their backgrounds and meeting them in person so he can use his Intuition on them to see just how vile yet trustworthy they are. Simon deliberately keeps them from even knowing about each other, to prevent them from influencing him. Most importantly, however, he has lead them to believe that they're working for someone else entire: The enigmatic internet figure known only as Mr. Pennybags, while each of them manipulate the "doddering simpleton" Simon Morris to their own ends. When, in reality, the reverse is true and Simon is playing his puppets from both sides of the situation.

Personal History:

His true nature as a spirit born of despair and aggregate suffering is detailed above in the powers/abilities section. For generations, longer than his human mind is able to remember entirely, Simon Morris has plagued humanity in some form or another. His memories of past lives are hazy, and some are actually false entirely, though he pays little attention to them anyway. All he is concerned with is preserving humanity and thus himself. His true name is not actually Simon Morris, that is the name of the identity/body his current incarnation takes.

Where "Simon Morris" in particular came from is a mystery. He was just a charismatic, intuitive man gifted with words who rose through corporate power structures easily, eventually founding a company with the intent to protect Hyakuji in particular, finding it a rich mine of life and suffering.
