Personality
Roselle appears to be the typical maiden type. She is soft-spoken, polite and every word she speaks seems embroidered with compassion. While she certainly carries a maternal air about her, just by watching how sure she is in her gestures it is clear that Roselle is an independent woman who is apt in her own power and ability. Because of her personality, she has a habit of concerning herself with the safety of others around her and if she could, would not hesitate to die in someone's stead if it weren't for the higher purpose she had readily accepted to live for.

One word that would most probably come to mind when interacting with Roselle; princess. Coupled with her gentle demeanor and kind nature, it would be hard not to believe that she frolicked flowering fields surrounded by all the forest animals in her free time. Though, such thoughts only befit those who've never delved past her surface.

When it comes to battle, Roselle's mindset is in a whole other league. She becomes austere and shows no sympathy for her enemy. Fearless and perhaps even a little fierce, the only time she will relent is if she believes the person she is fighting is pure of heart fundamentally; in which case, she will do her best not to harm and convince her opponent to stop. With that in mind, Roselle only partakes in battle willingly if she has people to protect.

Roselle's approach to anything she does is very formal. She does her best to complete tasks to the best of her ability, until the point where she gets so meticulous that someone else has to stop her from going past her limits. This young woman strives for excellence, though only for the benefit of others around her. Indeed, Roselle is the closest thing to selflessness personified you'll ever see.

Personal History
It all began 20 years ago, though it feels so much more long ago than that..

Roselle was 5 at the time. The business which belonged to her father, Pierre le Noir, had failed and the family was struggling to keep afloat. To their salvation, a wealthy friend of Pierre's offered him a job as a chauffeur. He took it gladly, and remained a chauffeur for about a year. It wasn't until that horribly-fated day..

Before the day of the accident, Roselle's father would wake in the middle of the night from nightmares while shouting apologies. It was horrible for a six-year-old child to witness her father like that, even more so while not knowing why. However, within the following days the situation would make itself painfully clear.

That day was a bright, clear day. The family of the man Roselle's father chauffeured decided to go out together that day. With Pierre at the helm, the car drove off a cliff, killing him as well as the man and his wife. They were survived by their only son. The death of her father was a mighty blow to Roselle, which caused a personality change in which she became quiet and distant.

However, it wasn't over yet. Roselle's mother, Grace, knew exactly why Pierre had done what he did and she knew who was responsible. She resolved to go to the police with her knowledge but before she was about to do that, that same wealthy friend who had given Pierre that job along with a bunch of thugs broke into their home in the middle of the night and took her away.

The following day, her body was discovered in what appeared to be a suicide for the reason of being unable to pay debt owed to Pierre's employer. An already mentally shaken Roselle spiraled even further as she moved to live with her godfather, having no known relatives to live with.

The rest of her life became a blur. She attended school as per normal, but was very solitary and reserved in character. She hesitated to create bonds with others, in fear of the pain she'd feel should they suddenly disappear just like her parents. It was at this point where Roselle decided to immerse herself in the art of sword-fighting -- to protect those dear to her so the events of her past would not repeat themselves.

Upon turning 18, Roselle was given a letter entrusted to her godfather from her mother, written before she died. The contents of the letter explained everything that had transpired those 13 years ago. Everything from the reasons why her father had those nightmares to who was responsible for everything.

Abilities
Jusenkyo Curse
SPOILER:Unbeknownst to Hiro, Roselle was also present while he was at the Cursed Jusenkyo Springs in China. She promptly attempted to save him, but he was saved before she could reach him. Instead, Roselle lost her grip and fell into the very same spring.. "Cursed Spring of Drowned Cute 12-Year Old". When splashed with cold water, she transforms into a cute 12-year old version of herself, warm water reverses the transformation. While child form supposedly enhances magical ability, Roselle has none to improve.

Swordsmanship
At the tender age of 12, Roselle has been training in her skills of swordsmanship. She took an interest in the art of sword-fighting as a means to become a strong protector. With that as her goal, the young girl picked up her first wooden sword and trained with none but herself to teach. She researched through reading books and watching sword fights and through this process, she also refined her skill in investigation and inquiry. As soon as she was able, Roselle enrolled into a sword fighting school which specialized in fighting with long swords. She eventually graduated the top of her class at the age of 22. With 3 years of formal education, and many more of experience under her belt, Roselle has proved to be more than capable with a sword.

L'Cie
Roselle is a l'Cie, humans that are "branded" by divine entities and given great physical power, as well as a Focus to fulfill. In being branded, a l'Cie is given superhuman attributes, but also bear the burden of completing a task known as a Focus for their fal'Cie master. Upon becoming a l'Cie, the person is given a mission to complete by the fal'Cie, called a Focus.

The l'Cie are not outright told what their Focus is; instead, they must figure it out for themselves with the aid of various ambiguous visions revealed to them at the moment of branding. If a l'Cie fails to complete his or her Focus, they will be transformed into crystal and shatter. The "reward" for completing a Focus is not much better, for the l'Cie will be granted "eternal life" and turned into a crystal where they sleep until awakened in order to complete another Focus. It is for this reason that many think the fate of a l'Cie equates to a death sentence.

A l'Cie is granted more than just a Focus: upon transformation, they will gain access to powerful physical capabilities far beyond those of a normal human being. L'Cie can instantaneously alter their capabilities during battle. For example, Roselle may be using superhuman strength, but can switch to superhuman speed should the battle call for it. Between strength, speed and stamina, she may only use one at a time. In this way, the l'Cie gains the power needed to complete their Focus, which may involve slaying a large beast or other creature that no unaugmented human would normally stand a chance against.

The brands that mark a l'Cie as one of the fal'Cie's chosen change gradually, passing through several different stages. When the "eye" at the center opens—the brand's final stage—the l'Cie becomes crystallized and shatters. Roselle is currently in her third state of progression. A brand's rate of progression depends partly on the difficulty of the l'Cie's Focus. It is also linked closely to the individual's mental state, with severe psychological trauma sometimes spurring rapid advancement.

Eidolon
With becoming a l'Cie, Roselle has gained an Eidolon. An Eidolon is a spirit belonging to only a single l'Cie whom they reflect in some matter. Eidolon's can be summoned once every three threads, via the summoning crystal. When summoned, the Eidolon uses the l'Cie's body as a vessel and appears in its entity form. The time at which the Eidolon can stay is determined by its counters. When first summoned, the Eidolon possesses 5 counters. However, one counter is used in one turn and if it takes damage, two counters are used. When the counters are reduced to zero, the Eidolon is dismissed and the summoner becomes unconscious. While the Eidolon is in the l'Cie's body, the l'Cie does not sustain any damage. Roselle can also choose to summon them without their powers, and they can remain for as long as the thread goes on for.

Roselle's Eidolon is Elysium. Elysium has a pair of lithe white wings which are light and flexible, allowing her to manouvre through the air swiftly and effortlessly. As such, Elysium can perform moves in the air such as spiralling and nose dives. Along with her ability of flight, Elysium wields a sword and shield which enables her to manipulate ice. When she swings her sword in a direction, Elysium can cause ice to protrude forth from the ground and potentially trap, if not impale, enemies caught in its path. With her shield, she is able to make it double its size by making ice form from the shield as the base. Anything that makes contact with her sword or her shield becomes encrusted with ice, and with a snap of her fingers, breaks into shards and pierces the enemy.

Epic retconning that's productive dashed with humor sparked by Hiro's adventures, loving this so hard~
