Okay, so, I've been breaching the idea of an ESPer's club to several people, and they've told me to post it here, so here it is. It's somewhat similar to the Elemencer's club, only dealing with ESPers instead. However, unlike the Elemencer's Club, the ESPer's club wouldn't have any major restrictions to membership, so, in theory, anyone would be able to join, though the missions would most likely be geared for ESPers. So, the basic idea behind it is to provide a club similar to the Elemencer's club for non-elemencers, and isn't focused on dealing with "Threats from the darkness" like Arcadia is. Basically, it's abit like the SOS Brigade from Haruhi, where people just come to hang out and stuff, only with actual ESPers. Okay, so it's pretty much exactly like the SOS Brigade. The basic missions, if we are going to be including any, are probably going to be investigation type missions, where a team of students investigate some unexplained, supernatural activity of some sort, similar to what the WDA does, only less exclusive. There is probably going to be an ongoing plot of some sort once the introduction topic is over, though that's still in the making. The problem is, as of right now, we don't really have an IC reason for the club to start, and without that we can't really bring in any overarching plotlines. Right now, we are treating this as a school club, and Lawman has kindly accepted the role as a supervisor, which means that we need another five members for this club to be created. We are also in need of ideas. The basic structure of the club is there, we it needs more refinement before it can truely come onto it's own and be anything other than an Elemencer's club for Espers. So, apart from gauging the general interest in the ESPer's club, we are also looking for ideas to improve or refine the club, so, if you have any, feel free to post them below. |

EDITED RIGHT AFTER THOSE TWO PEOPLE BELOW ME POSTED SOS Brigade. The best way I could describe how it would work like. Focuses on investigating and studying supernatural and paranormal shits happening around town, which includes spirits, curses, magical anomalies, or... I dunno, stuff. Aside from kids getting together and doing random filler episode stuff. All in the name of storytelling~ Also I do have a character who would be more than eager to start this kind of club. : x Though he wouldn't actually call it the ESPer club. Anyone can join, no power ups and or that sort of shit, and admittedly that kind of stuff just doesn't fit with the idea of a SCHOOL CLUB .__. ALL IN THE NAME OF STORIES MANG. Only thing I'm worried is that it might overlap with Arcadia considering the 'supernatural' stuff. Though looking at the scale difference between Arcadia and a school club... Cthulhu and the ghost of a kid who committed suicide... ...I'VE BEEN WATCHING LETS PLAY VIDEOS OF THE CALLING, MKAY. Edited by Fin, Jun 16 2012, 10:43 AM.

it's an interesting idea but it needs broadened. "Esper" is esp-er, or extrasensory perception. Basically psychics. But that's a narrow field. Something like a "Supernatural Society" would be more suited to accommodating more people. |

Who is the leader? Who is holding the strings? As in, who will be in charge of the plot threads and push it forward? Will there be one, (like Cyp for the WDA, and Hiro for everything else XD lol, jk) or can other come with ideas and have plot based threads? |

@Cyp: Well, yeah, I was kinda thinking that, but "Supernatural society" is going to tread on the toes of both Arcadia and the Elemencer's club, which is something I was trying to avoid with this. Still, anyone can join the club, and if it turns out that there are more Supernaturally powered folks who join than Psychics, it can be easily subjected to a name change. @Lelil: I'm leaning towards the latter for now. Strictly speaking, Lawman should be the one who is "Holding the strings" so to speak, but since I essentially roped him into this and since I, as the guy who came up with the idea, is only tangentially related to it ICly... So, yeah, it's a club where people get together and do stuff, so it's going to be primarily character dirven. |

if you're gonna just do a bunch of stuff with no real aim, may as well ditch the power split in general. Rather than thinking from the position of "Where does this power niche fit" focus on the actual investigations as putting the power monicker there to begin with detracts from it seeming character driven. A club that fulfills requests for other students, a paranormal research group, things like that feel more open. More so since you're using an SOS Brigade parallel to begin with, which grabbed "Whoever she found interesting" for the main driving force. |

Wait, so you want to start a club you are not going to participate in? ._. |

@Yosuke: Make sense. Originally, it was supposed to be a parallel to the Elemencer's club, to provide alternatives to it so the site wouldn't unfairly favour Elemencers. It has deviated quite abit from that idea, though, soo.. The Paranormal Investigation club, then? @Lelil: Yeah, it does sound rather stupid when you put it like that, doesn't it? Still, with the focus change suggested by Yosuke, powers wouldn't be the major limiter, which meant that my character could participate in it... Or I could just create an entirely new character for this club. Lets see how things play out first. |

I'll be honest, this just sounds like a mishmash of every other major group then toned down. Therefore, I have to say I don't see a point for it as is. The Supernatural bent is just going to end up stepping on toes with Arcadia. Is there really a benefit from two dedicated supernatural based groups? Like Yon says, why even base it around a power set? I don't even get this idea of "favoring Elemancers" and where it's come from. First of all, there are a lot of the characters. It's just natural to draft up a side-plot/group around that. And it's not that exclusive. You want involved, between three characters it's not hard to devote one to being Elemental based. I can't even think up a handful of consistent "ESP" based characters. (to be clear, the previous two paragraphs are personal opinion) Here, I'll pitch you the perfect idea here and now. Ape Medaka Box:
Or ape the similar Sket Dance:
Nobody has done it. It doesn't call on a power set. It's sufficiently low key. Edited by Hiro_Tsukasa, Jun 16 2012, 03:01 PM.

Admittedly those two examples totally didn't cross my mind >_< but yeah, that's the kind of vibe I'm getting from this supposed school club. ...that being said, can I have that kind of club? : x |

Truth be told, the idea has pretty much moved towards a Sket-dan-ish type organization from it original origins, it just that no one actually put it down. So, yeah, Sket dan with super powers. Also, on the bit about favouring Elemencers, that kinda my point. Being an Elemencer allows you access to a whole new forum to rp in, exclusive missions, and opportunities that you just don't have if you play any other character type. It's not gamebreaking or anything, but it is enough to encourage some players to favour creating elemencer type characters over others. That's Favouring. I support the idea if there is a big boobed leader! (bo_o)b Also, Fin. As far as I know, to create a club you need a teacher char to 'support' it, which you apparently have in Lawman and in your own char Shun I guess. And then if you get five members you are officially ready to start! ^^ |

by that logic no organization should exist then oh noes theres a group of people with similar powered characters, I have to make one like them to get along. I really don't see any problem since we have at least five fully established groups with their own agenda. |

You're missing my point. I'm not claiming for NO organizations to exist, I want MORE similar organizations to exist such that no particular power sets get the short shaft. Which is why this topic is titled "So, Espers's Club" rather than "Shut down the Elemencer's club". |

I saw your point and it relies on a problem that doesn't really exist. And the solution to solve it can be described as "attempting to shut down the meat grinder by feeding more meat into it." I have yet to see any evidence of people complaining about groups being too exclusive and thus people need to create characters to fit in. It isn't favoring at all, it's people getting together themselves and RPing together. |
