Free stuff, who didn't like free stuff? Well, when the free stuff consisted of used syringes, disposable gloves by the truckload, and other random hospital garbage, one would probably be a bit put-off. In Ian's case, however, the (potentially pathogenic) waste of others was a goldmine. His fingers had been extended out into threadlike tendrils, probing and carefully rooting through the biohazardous disposal container. It was actually supposed to be locked to prevent this sort of thing, but Ian had a way around that. By placing his fingertip to the lock and expanding bone outwards, he could open the tumblers easily.

A very literal skeleton key!

What he was looking for specifically were blood samples or anything that could be infected with a dangerous virus. Due to his body manipulation abilities, he was capable of harboring a disease inside of himself with no ill effect so long as he maintained his tissues and organs by constant feeding. Symbiosis with pathogens was entirely possible, so he was looking for the most dangerous virus he could find to infect himself with. That way, he'd be capable of passing it to others with his attacks. A diabolical plan, but the problem was that he had no way of telling what was actually infectious or not, let alone what pathogens he'd be letting into himself.

And so, he was going for a brute force method, trying to catch whatever he could infect himself with. One very valid issue, however, was that his immune system was extremely powerful, given that his body, and every cell in it, had the ability to freely consume organic matter. So this whole thing was actually a fruitless waste of time, and Ian didn't realize it.

Valentine was on the search for some more Hyakujians that would like to "donate" their blood for her research, swinging by the hospital to watch people. She was standing in the front and watching as people walked by her, observing them for anything that might peak her interests. After a while or so, Valentine became bored of the position and decided to move to the side of the structure to see if anything is any different. A noise happened to catch her ears, hearing something coming from the back of the building. She walked towards the back of the hospital and trying to be as silent as possible to avoid detection, peeking around the corner to find an interesting sight.

It was an odd sight, something Vale knew instantly just by seeing it. She continued to look at it from around the corner, writing in her notes of what she had seen. She turned to place her back flat against the wall as she wrote, no longer looking in the direction of the being. After writing in her notes, she put her device away and swiftly pulled out a syringe. She was ready to take a sample of the being, slowly peeking around the corner again to see where it was after taking her eyes off of it for a moment.

Continuing his unwittingly harmless work, Ian was gleefully consuming any and all organic samples he found. Hahahahaha! Viral warfare!....Except it was all in vain, as he'd later find out eventually when he showed no signs of sickness. So what he was more or less accomplishing was waste disposal in a rather weird way, actually helping the hospital somewhat. Hazardous waste disposal was actually a serious issue, as organic waste needed to be incinerated. However, this tended to produce pollutants, so there was no effective way to really get rid of it. And here Ian was being an unwitting solution to the problem by eating the stuff.

Little tissue samples, the occasional bit of surgically removed flesh, etc. All of it was fair game. Completely focused on his work, he had no idea that he was being watched. Tendrils picked and poked through the refuse, overturning and sifting through the materials as thoroughly as he could muster. There was some really weird stuff to be found, honestly, up to and including umbilical cords and cancerous tumors.

Valentine watched as she continued to peek around the corner to try and find an opening, slowly creeping around the corner with her syringe in hand. She watched as he took materials in, strange objects and other things. She continued to move closer, readying her syringe for the impact. Valentine was a good distance, dashing towards him and pushing the needle towards a vein and pulling back on the plunger. She tried to get as much as she could before the being could react to it, pulling the plunger back as quick as she could to get blood.

Within the moment, she took the needle out and jumped back to stay a safe distance from him. "I do not think you will be missing this at all," she said, looking within the syringe and examining its contents, "Since I will be using it to conduct research." She capped the needle and ran a yellow strip of tape on it so she wouldn't confuse it with another vile.

Ian's focus was broken by the sudden action. Finding a needle jammed into his body, his first thought was that he was under attack. Tentacles tipped with bone spikes erupted from his back, piercing through his shirt. Thankfully, Valentine was quick enough to avoid the lunging points. Valentine had gotten plenty of his blood, though. Ian took a moment to listen to her words and grew rather annoyed.

"You could have just asked! "Oh, hello sir, would you be willing to donate blood for research purposes?" And I'd have said yes in an instant!" A vein engorged with blood slithered from his fingertip, extending outwards towards Valentine. Irked, Ian decided to have fun with the situation as usual.

"But hey, research samples, I can get behind that..." His tongue grew out from his mouth to a foot in length, licking his lips before retracting it. "Why not have some other samples, miss? You were so polite...I'll give you what you want, and then some!" His nostrils flared open inhumanly wide, and he began tickling the insides of his sinuses by vibrating the flesh, causing himself to sneeze over and over while he sent his mucus glands into overdrive. As anyone who ever had a cold can attest, the body is amazing at producing mucus. And with Ian's ability on top of that, hoo boy.

Snot projectiles were launched at Valentine, as Ian began spitting in her direction as well. Harmless retribution, if rather gross. He was capable of much, much worse, though.

Valentine watched as he began to spoke, crossing her arms and looking to him as he said he would have kindly given it to her, "Well most people here in this city tend to want a reason of some sort," she said, explaining her reason for taking it by force, "I guess research is not good enough for their standards." She then watched as his nostrils flared up, sneezing out mucus and it landing on the ground in front of her with some on her shoes. She was a definitely grossed out by his act, her face slightly showing so.

"That was a bit unnecessary," she said, moving her foot away, "I am actually looking for a specific fluid actually, DNA." She shook of a bit of the mucus that was on her shoes, flinging it on the wall next to her and scraping the rest on a fallen trashcan. "That is why I am collecting blood since it is a more direct access to it," she placed her hands on her hips, looking down at the mess he made, "So, what do your powers entail? Because I would like to know what I am dealing with."

Satisfied with his minor act of payback, he reverted his body to normal. The tentacles slid back into his body, and his nose shifted back to regular size as well. However, the genetic researcher had piqued his interest. Not only was she asking about him, but she seemed to be in the business of doing genetic research, and that was something that caught his attention.

"How dandy, a fellow biology enthusiast! Despite this rough start, we might actually get along quite well." Laughing a bit, as was his tendency, he offered a smile in hopes of reconciling. "Well, since you asked politely this time, I'll tell you absolutely everything."

Having tested and (ab)used his ability for quite a long time, Ian's awareness of what he could do was extensive. He'd already demonstrated himself, even. "My power is to disassemble and reassemble organic matter. This includes the consumption of any source of organic material, to the point where I don't need a digestive system." Ian pulled up his shirt, and the skin over his stomach parted, revealing empty space inside of his body that he used to carry things. "I got rid of that, and put the space to use." He pulled out his phone and wallet to demonstrate, before replacing them and closing back up.

"Instead, I directly convert the biomass from external sources into usable material for my body. This same ability allows me to grow and mutate my body for whatever purpose I deem fit." It was so utilitarian, Ian loved how versatile he could be. He wasn't going to mention the drawbacks and weaknesses he had, of course.

"Now that I've answered your question with utter honesty, it's only fair that I ask one of you, miss. Are you capable of splicing genes together? I ask this because my ability to consume and absorb doesn't permit me to incorporate any useful genetic traits from what I consume. If you were able and willing to assist me with that little problem, I'd be quite willing to put my talents to use for you." Ian was born with his ability. To him, he felt certain that his ability was a genetic mutation, and as such, he wondered if it would be possible to consume DNA from others with genetic abilities and incorporate them into his own genome. It would be a breakthrough in his endless quest for power.

Valentine listened as he began explaining his powers, pulling out her device and writing in it. The device had a holographic image between two pen like objects, using her finger to write between it on the hologram. She looked to him as he told her more of his powers, changing biomass into materials for his body, "That sounds rather useful," she commented as she continued to write within her device, keeping her eyes on the device, "And could you convert humans or other things into biomass or bio-liquid? Or maybe the reverse?"

She stopped writing and looked with only her eyes in his direction, keeping her head down at the device. After his answer she would close her device and put it away, crossing her arms and looking to him. She smirked lightly as he was going to ask her a series of questions since he answered all of hers, "I see you are no fool," she commented on the idea of quid pro quo, "Though I may be able to splice genes here and there, I would not consider myself an expert on the topic."

Valentine thought for a moment, "Though with your help, I could maybe...help you in that area if you would like. I am an engineer of sorts but I only covered biology in school and that was too many years ago." She continued to stand with her arms crossed, her serious look and composed posture giving off a feel of intelligence to him. "Then I suppose this will be the deal then. I am in the process of gathering genetic material to do research on and maybe I can fix something out for you if you help test the results."

Nodding his head, he answered the affirmative. "Yes, cannibalism is an option, and a very valid one. Naturally, the more similar to myself something is, the higher quality materials they provide. There haven't been many times where I've actually done so, though, simply due to lack of necessity." He hadn't done that since before he arrived at Hyakuji, even, though he had no hesitation about doing so in the future.

Ah, the wonders of science. Valentine made her terms, and Ian accepted them. "Tests, experiments, what have you, all is fair game." Seeking power and nothing but, Ian felt confident in going through with this. Being more casual than the researcher, or most other people for that matter, he approached her offering his hand. "Or would you prefer a contract?" Written agreements never hurt, though he fully intended to keep his word about all this. They each stood to gain from the arrangement, after all.

"Although, now that I've agreed to such a thing, I'd like to know what you mean by testing the results." He didn't mind being experimented on, but curiosity dictated that he learn what he was getting himself into.

She takes a mental note of his powers in terms of turning people into biomass and liquid, looking him up and down. "Good," she said in response to him giving the ok for tests and other things, "I would rather have you keep your word. I do not require a contract for I shall always keep my word under any circumstance." Valentine brushed her hair back a bit, moving it out of the way of her face as the wind blew it around. Valentine was glad to have a willing subject, probably having the best luck ever since no one else wanted to.

Ian than asked about "testing the results", Valentine nodding and looking to him, "I assume your body is resistant to multiple chemicals and other ailments," she said, "Therefore it would be easier to test results without having any sort of normal reaction. Of course that would be useless if something came in contact with a human and it damaged them. During the same time, I will be using human DNA to test its results on the genetic code." She gave a mouthful, more than she was used to.

"I hope that answers your question, my language my be a bit inaccurate at the moment," she said plainly, "I hope to see results with our partnership." She looked to his offering hand, putting her hands behind her back, "I would suggest you refrain from touching me. That is all I am going to say." Though not liking being touched may be a cultural thing for Valentine, she was also looking out for her well being since her body could easily catch something on Earth.

"Gotcha, gotcha. No touchy." He hadn't the faintest idea that Valentine wasn't human herself. Withdrawing his hand, he laughed lightly again. A productive meeting! Both of them seemed quite satisfied with this arrangement. "Do you want my contact information so you can get in touch with me in the future?" He assumed that it would be difficult for them to get anything done if they had to rely on chance encounters. Then again, maybe she had her ways, who knew?

Ian's mind reeled with possibilities. A partnership like this was certain to yield entertainment, at the very least, and it would be ideal if he actually got something out of it. Strength! More power! Ever hungry for that, he was delighted to have found a potential source. The biohazard dumpster was ignored from then on, as he figured that her samples and resources would be much more reliable.

Valentine watched as he withdrew his hand, keeping her behind her back. Ian then decided to get the contact information, being a wise idea in case she needed him for something. "Yes, I will take your contact information," she said, pulling out a simple conventional flip phone and holding it upside down. She looked at it for a moment and turned it the right way, "I believe these phones have some sort of application to where you can just send me your contact info over the air." She looked through the device, looking for it for a moment.

After a moment of looking, she finds the setting and readies it, "Ok, I will send you it now," she looked down at the device and hit the send button, her information being sent to him while his was sent to hers. "Good," She closed the phone and put it away in her pocket after saving the info, "Now I can contact you when I am ready. I will be seeing you around then." She turned around and headed off, walking through around the crowds to avoid contact.
