The Frustrated Treasure Huntress; Turtle

A rare, slightly frustrated frown appeared on Celia's face, as she flipped through a number of books about the Hyakuji area. She was trying to find a good spot to treasure hunt. After all, Hyakuji was practically bombarded with supernatural activity. Surely that means there's at least one little place she could find to dodge lethal traps for the sake of shiny treasures, and given Hyakuji's flare of the supernatural, a magical treasure would clearly not be out of the question of payoffs, now would it? Though right now, she hadn't hit pay dirt here yet.

Ah, the library. It was a treasure cove of information and creativity. A person could easily get lost in one if they liked reading even slightly. One could even hope for an entire planet that was one huge library, minus the man eating shadows. And so, one of the very first stops on Nadia's tour of the school was the library. Dressed in pink tube top and black shorts, she wasn’t dressed to go out. She was dressed to relax while burying herself in some books. As for the glasses? Well, Nadia didn't truly need them. The glasses helped her fit the library scene. While she wasn't one to boast, she understood that her background and appearance typically gave people the idea that she was some kind of bimbo or something.

She disliked when people misjudged her in such a way and sometimes opted out for not letting them assume such a thing in the first place. So here Nadia was, ready to hunt down some books and unconsciously heading toward the more "adventurous" section. Seeing someone already there, Nadia smiled. "Hello!? Mind if I see that book when you finish? If it caught your eye, it just might catch mind too." She said. After all, the best food was something that everyone ate. The best books were things that everyone liked. Sure, there were a few hipsters here and there, but they were the types that lied to themselves.

Celia looked up from her book and smiled a bit. If someone else was there, it'd be a way for her to express her frustration.

"Oh sure." she mentioned "It's not something I'm reading for pleasure anywho. Just doing some research."

The book was clearly about the history of the Hyakuji area, old history. Actually, all the books where... Which should probably strike Nadia as odd, as history class isn't covering local history. If she took a look at the notes, they clearly were oddly specific, clearly not written for any academic pursuit, and mentioning the word 'treasure' a whole lot.

Nadia looked at the girl with interest. She wasn't sure if she should butt in or not, but when people were researching something, they were usually planning to unearth something interesting. People don't usually just research something someone else already knew unless it was some kind of school assignment. This placed Nadia in a bit of a bind since they were in a high school. And while she had yet to attention any classes since she was brand new here, she found that it was completely possible that one of the classes had assigned research projects. It was time to do what Nadia always did and take that risk.

If it did turn out to be a simple assignment, Nadia wouldn't really lose anything, so why not!? "Oh? What are you looking up...if you don't mind me asking?" She questioned, hoping to get to hear about something interesting. But then the book itself was a local history, which could be interesting to Nadia either way. And there it was; a small scribble of something outside of simple learning. Something about a treasure, or at least mentioning a treasure a couple of times. It was something that could prove really interesting. "Heh, and to think, libraries are already filled with treasures." She said, pointing out the words in the book while referencing the books themselves as treasures.

Girl seemed to be rather perceptive. In the treasure hunting business, she knew that one of the leading experts in the field claimed that good perceptiveness is extremely important. That expert was herself, but perceptiveness was the key. Better to see a trap, and disarm it than trip it, and escape unscathed.

"Heh, perceptive." she mentioned "Name's Celia Stark, world's greatest treasure huntress. I'm hoping to use the research to uncover an ancient temple or some crap so I can dodge lethal traps to claim the treasure at the end. It's actually a neat little hobby, once you get over the idea that you could die doing it."

At this point, it's at least somewhat obvious that she's more than a little crazy.

Nadia raised a brow as the girl spoke and then nodded her head. So it seemed the girl was a treasure hunter. It wasn't the exact same as Nadia, but it was close. While she dug deep and far for treasure, Nadia was more the adventure type, she did it for the fun and the wonder, not the reward at the end. And while it was true that this did happen sometime, it wasn't really her goal. Even so, she could see that they did have something in common. The hint of danger and fun is what made an adventure such a thrill. "Well, if it's in these books, you can bet that they've been explored. And while some things may have been missed, the best secrets are the ones in between the lines. But I don't mean to sound all wise or whatever. My name is Nadia Nicolai. I'm a new student here so....nice to meet you!" Nadia said, introducing herself to the girl.

Nadia might have Celia a bit misunderstood. True, she liked the treasure at the end... but the real reason Celia went on these treasure hunts were because... to be honest... she was a bit of an adrenaline junkie. That, and she thought it'd be really cool if she ended up with a magical treasure someday.

"That's where you're wrong." Celia stated "I'm not saying these books are going to pin point me right to the treasure. All the world's information is worthless unless you figure out something about it that nobody else has."

She smiles, thinking of an example.

"The Great Arabian Sand Tower. Many people hunted for it when the sun was high and visibility was best. So many would be hunters thought it was myth." she told her "Take a better look at the legends swirling around it though, and you'll find it only appears the night of the new moon. Granted, the treasure turned into sand after the sun rose, but it was still one of my favorite hunts."

Nadia smiled as Celia spoke. She agreed with the girl wholeheartedly. "Seems like we can both agree on that." She said to her nodding. She then went on to give an example of one of her adventures and Nadia was instantly interested. She had heard about the place and the legend, but did not have the chance to go and find it. It was an adventure she missed out on because of her meddling parents. And once she had the chance to get into it, she found out that someone else had already gotten there. It seemed that that person was standing before her. Nadia smiled widely as she started to feel a little getty. "Oooh...That sounds like a really cool adventure. I'd love to hear more about it." She said, as she mind wandered into what kind of things happened within the Great Arabian Sand Tower.

Well, Celia was all for regaling about her treasure hunts. Along with acting like a complete and utter lunatic, it was sorta one of the things about her. So she began to eagerly regale her new friend in the tale.

"Well, there are two types of ancient ruins. Ones that look like they're from a Legend of Zelda game, and ones that look like there out of an Indiana Jones movie. As much as I like Indiana Jones though, I like the 'Zelda-types' more, and the sand tower was on the far Zelda side of the spectrum. Basically, it was an entire tower with a palace like interior. And even though it was clearly made completely of dry sand, and it had architecture that would have made Michelangelo jealous. I mean, it looked like a palace in terms of craftsmanship. There weren't any traps, kinda disappointing really. I could see why, given that the treasure turned to sand the next day after the sun rose." she told her "Given that it was a Zelda sort of Temple, there were plenty of puzzles though. One where I had to manipulate the sand levels, for instance. Another was a scavenger hunt. I usually try to solve the puzzles without 'cheating'... and by 'cheating', I mean, using my powers to just bypass it if I can... Oh wait, there was one 'trap'... a giant sand stone golem. Of course, it was actually rather easy to beat, the ancients weren't big on hiding easy destroyed weak points. They also probably didn't count on their golem being pitted against someone who could jump high enough to reach the weak point."

Nadia listened attentively, though some of the parts of her stories, she did not understand. Nadia wasn't the gamer type at all, so video games were a kind of foreign concept for her. However, she understood about Indiana Jones movies just fine. She enjoyed watching them and always hoped for an adventure like that one. As for traps, Nadia wasn't big on them either. She didn't go into a place hoping for them, but they did add to the excitement and danger.

The Sand Golem thing made Nadia hop with excitement. She would have loved to see what kind of magic was at work with that one. "That sounds wonderful! I have to say, I'm jealous...though...what is Legend of Zelda?" Nadia questioned. The girl constantly made references to it, but Nadia didn't really pick up on it at all. "Is it like a myth or something? I've never heard of it." She answered. Growing up in high society, her free time wasn't exactly spent on things like games. And even so, she enjoyed cars and guns as a hobby more than videogames ever would.

Celia was a bit surprised when Nadia didn't know what the Legend of Zelda games were "Erm... the Legend of Zelda is a series of video games. Maaaaaybe I should rephrase that. Well, the Indy-like ones are basically all about speed, agility, reflexes, and trap disarming, there are often traps in the Zelda like ones, but those are more about puzzles and thinking. Also, the Zelda like ones often look."

She smiled "I like you. If I find a treasure hunting spot, I'm totally inviting you."

Nadia tilted her head a bit...again...as Celia started to describe them. "A video game huh?" She questioned. "I never play them, though they do sound interesting." She added, a bit curious about how much of an adventure they really were. But with the description the girl gave, Nadia still had trouble picturing that she was talking about. She didn’t really have a basis to get an idea of what Zelda games were like. As for Indiana, she could imagine that fine. So when she spoke, he couldn't help but imagining a playable Indiana Jones movie. "Sounds like we'll be great friends huh? I'd love to go on an adventure." She responded to the invitation. With being new to the school and all, this was kind of a great thing for her. To find someone that had the same interest she had was great indeed. "You have a cellphone; I'll give you my number." Nadia suggested.

"Yay! I've got an adventuring friend!" she giggles "I'll have to show you some games some time though."

Celia never, truth be told, gone on a group treasure hunt before. But she was sure it'd be a blast. A bit harder, since that's twice as many people to trip a trap. But that's also twice as many talents, and twice as many people to see them, right?

Celia promptly takes her iphone from her pocket, and begins to write down her number. While one would expect a treasure huntress to have a gilded iPhone... that would just be tacky. So it was just a normal iPhone.

Nadia nodded in agreement as she took out her cellphone. Much like Celia, her cellphone didn't try and match her stereotype as an adventurer. While Nadia liked them, they didn't define her. There were many things she liked, such as what was displayed on the case of her phone. It was pink and littered to the brim with stylized pictures of cherries and macaroons. They were her favorite deserts so naturally, she had them on there. Exchanging numbers, Nadia was sure to create a special category for her contacts and friends of her new school. With Celia being the first she has exchanged numbers with, Nadia would have to take some time to set things up. Once done, the numbers were exchanged and Nadia smiled. "Alright, first Hyakuji High Number a GO!"

"Well, my brains starting to get tired of books." she mentioned. Celia wasn't dumb, but she had gone through a lot of reading. Research was ok, not too bad. It was part of the fun, but it was tiring.

"You wanna go do something?" she asked.
