Deus leaned against a wall waiting for Emiko for what felt like forever. He really needed a nap. This girl was being a demon when it came to punishing him for napping. "Not the end of our travels together, eh?" He said to himself with a small grin as he extended both arms out, stretching and turning. However, when he'd turned he saw Emiko dashing out of the store, and jsut ahead of her some guy.

Deus scooped up their stuff quickly and rushed over to Emiko. "Hey, hold on, idiot!" He spat out annoyed. "What are you gonna do, chase him down and tackle him? You'll get yourself killed!" Of course Deus was overladen with bags, he was doing good to stay within earshot of Emiko, much less actually catch up to either of the people dashing off.

He wondered what happened? If she'd been robbed it was really bad. She'd used everything she had on souvenirs earlier but her wallet had all sorts of other stuff that was important, right? And Deus was completely out of money after buying some stuff for himself. They'd have to go the entire way home on empty pockets. And that's if something really important wasn't in there..

Damn annoying girl..! Always getting them into such situations!!

“Wait! Please wait!” Emiko yelled as she sprinted after the man. There were many people on the station, which slowed her down, and she couldn’t recklessly push people out of the way but she did jump over several peoples luggage as she was determined to catch up with the man. It seemed like her time in the schools track and field team did come in handy in real-life situations.

Yelling apologies over her shoulder Emiko burst though the door and out on the street just moments after the man had done the same. Stopping for a few seconds to look around and over the heads of the crowds she saw him on the other side of the street, standing still and looking directly at her before turning around and walking away. “No! Wait! Izo-kuuun!” Emi yelled loudly and held out a hand, as if that simple gesture would make him stop. Then she stepped out on the road, still in pursuit, several seconds after the streetlight had switched from green to red for pedestrians…

Deus glanced between her and the person she was chasing. She seemed.. extremely motivated to catch this guy. Wasn't that odd? While Emiko was rarely a damsel in distress that sat back letting others get hurt or taking abuse herself she was never the sort of bold heroine to catch a thief.

And then she called out his name? Ah... I see.. So she'd been stolen from by someone she knew.. Deus felt his heart clench at that. Nothing worse than learning someone you knew had become the sort of scum that would steal from tourists. He was sure that she wouldn't take this well.

However she then chased him out into the street, okay that was definitely not taking it well. He didn't have a whole lot of time so he just dropped the bags where he was on the side of the road. He grabbed the girl by the arm pulling her out of the road and pulling her to him. "you idiot!! WHAT WALLET IS WORTH YOUR LIFE?!" He said forcefully. He hugged her tight and exhaled a long breath.

He released her and glanced back to the bags, rushing over to gather them up. what a pain in the ass! She really never learned, did she?

HOOOOOOOOONK!!

Emiko was suddenly pulled out of the way in the last second and a loud screech was accompanied by the horn. Several other cars honked in response and one had been dangerously close to loose control and drive straight into the crowd on the sidewalk.

"You idiot!! WHAT WALLET IS WORTH YOUR LIFE?!"

Stumbling backwards Emi realized that she was in Deus’ arms. He was hugging her tight before letting her go to pick up the bags he had dropped. Emiko staggered to the side and leaned against a wall while panting heavily from the running, but also from the shock as she had just realized she’d nearly been run over by a car because she has stepped out on the street without looking. Bending forward and placing her hands on her knees Emi took deep calming breaths while waiting for Deus to return.

When he came back she had regained enough composure to explain herself. “Did you see who it was? Did you recognize him?” she asked and turned her head in the direction where she had last seen the suit clad man. “It was Izo-kun. Do you remember Anna and Eri? We met them in the park and they thought I was their… their mother.” Emiko looked back at Deus with intensity burning in her eyes, “And they showed us a picture of a woman that looked just like…” she swallowed hard, me

It had happened almost half a year ago when she had met Anna and Eri in the park, and together with Deus tried to find their way back home. Izo had been their driver and responsible for the two kids, and luckily they had been reunited without any drama. Well, except for the fact that Emiko was left with the mystery of who the woman in the picture was and if they were related in some way.

Oh.. He'd assumed her wallet was stolen by the man, but instead it had been that guy from back then. He could barely even remember that incident, but then for Emiko who knew nothing of her actual parents this sort of thing must have always been at the back of her mind. He glanced between her and where the man had gone. "Man, the only one you're good at lying to is yourself." He said with a sigh.

Of course he wanted to just stop and give up, but seeing how desperately she chased him he knew. "All along you've said you have no interest in looking into it but.. that's just a lie, right? You say that because looking into it is dangerous. It could destroy things you thought you understood about yourself and it could only lead to sadness... but.."

He turned and looked. "The fact is you jsut ran with all your might at a single glimpse.. Your mind has been saying no but when you have to act on instinct, on what you really want, it's telling you to chase him.." He frowned and turned looking out into the crowd, trying to spot the man one more time. No use, though, he was long gone. "Damn, wish I'd been quicker.. He could be anywhere by now.."

“No! I haven been-“ Emiko silenced. She honestly hadn’t thought about that incident for a couple of months now. Sure, directly after it had happened she found herself thinking about it whenever she had a calm silent moment to herself, but as time passed Emiko thought less and less about it and it finally it was buried deep enough in her mind. Although Deus was right, just one quick glimpse of Izo and it had brought everything back.

She had chased him because she had wanted to ask how Eri and Anna were doing, but a part of her also wanted to know why he was there. Was it a coincidence? Since he was in Tokyo, did that mean that it was Eri’s and Anna’s home? And, of course, their mother’s as well? Or had he been following her? Had he been on some sort of mission and wanted to check up on Emi’s whereabouts? Maybe he wanted to make sure that she wasn’t doing some research of her own in and attempt to find the kids and their mother?

There were so many questions to be answered now. That which had once been deeply buried had now been brought up to the surface.

“Come, let’s go. We need to catch our train,” Emiko said quietly, her mind reeling with questions and different theories. After the incident in the park it had taken a couple of months to let it go, but she had done it. But now, she wasn’t so sure if she could do it once again.
