Lucidus walked up to the arena stretching while doing so. He was suprised that he had made it so far in the tournament. Granted that it was only going to get harder from now on, he would have to be more cautious. Due to the commentators less then stellar announcement Lucidus who was quite agitated by it, didn't know who he was actually fighting. However that was part and parcel of the whole fun of the tournament.

"Well, this should be fun." Lucidus said as he prepared for his opponent to appear. He was running through several different potential strategies in his head, granted he had limited idea of what to do until he knew what his opponent was capable of. However it was always nice to go through potential strategies in his head. Not only could he get a decent plan from doing so, but he also got more into a more excited mood.

High noon. Star grinned in excitement, bouncing up and down in place twice to burn off excess energy as she waited for Oliver to finish his announcement. She could feel the sunlight beating down on her skin, her body tingling with excess energy as it absorbed the sunlight. She had really gotten lucky with this fight time. Dawn and dusk were good for specialized attacks, but they really were limited when it came to light intensity.

High noon was definitely her best time.

And to take advantage of it, Star had opted to fight in a sleeveless tank top, exposing the skin on her arms and part of her back to the sun and increasing the surface area she could absorb light over. The photomancer stepped out after Oliver's lackluster introduction, turning towards Lucidus. Lucidus had taken Jen out of the tournament. Star definitely wasn't going to let that slide without a decent fight, although she was hoping that it didn't go the way of her fights with Bran and Valentine. Those had turned a little too bloody for her liking.

"Heard you took my best friend out of the tournament," said Star, raising her arms up over her head in a stretch. "I'm not gonna let that go so easily, you know~"

"That's good, it means I won't have to hold anything back either." Lucidus said as he smiled towards the girl. It was always more fun when nothing was really held back, granted apart from trying to kill people, that bit was held back. Lucidus glanced towards Star, he remembered her from a few of the Arcadian missions, he was rather sure that she used photomancy. That would be rather bothersome considering the time of day and just how much light she had to make use of.

A small sigh escaped Lucidus's mouth, it would seem that she had the current advantage with the setting of the fight. Lucidus just had to make sure that he played it carefully in regards to this match. "Okay then, I guess I'll go first." Lucidus said as his bow popped into existence, he fired off three arrows with different trajectories. One flew towards Star and the other two flew to the side of her. Lucidus hoped that this would prevent a chance of escaping by dodging to the side, despite the fact that it probably wasn't the only defensive measure she would have.

"Great," said Star with a smile when Lucidus said he wasn't going to be holding back. "Guess that means I've really gotta step up my game."

High noon gave her a lot of raw power to work with, but it put her right where she was at the start. Star had never had a problem with power. Thanks to her elemental heritage, she had been unconsciously burning off high amounts of light energy without even really thinking about it, but that reliance on power had given her issues with control. Even now, she couldn't really use anything less powerful than sunlight to fuel her attacks, and she found that the more ambient sunlight she had around her, the more inclined she was to just chuck portions of light at her opponent instead of actually getting creative.

So she would have to consciously avoid that, or the amount of raw power she gained would just end up making her shoot herself in the foot.

As Lucidus fired off three arrows, Star thrust her palms out in front of her, focusing the light energy into the space between them. "Aldebaran!" she yelled. The light swirled, forming a barrier that grew until it was about half Star's height, covering her entire torso. The arrow slammed into it, and Star grit her teeth, digging her heels into the ground as cracks spiderwebbed up the barrier. She had made it bigger than she needed to, just in case, and that had structurally weakened it.

The barrier held, though, deflecting the arrow. Star drew her arms back, raising her right hand into the air above her. She moved it in an arc, a string of about six light orbs following her hand. The balls of light shot towards Lucidus, zeroing in on his position.

The arrows collided into the barrier of light that was made unfortunately. This wasn't something that Lucidus was really expecting would work but at least it gave him somewhat of an idnication of what Star could do. Lucidus kept his eyes on her as she continued onwards to make the next move, she fired off several large orbs towards him. This slightly worried Lucidus but he was sure that he could easily defend himself from such an attack.

As the orbs flew towards him Lucidus rotated his arrow which had golden energy following it. The bow then turned itself into a shield, he held the shield up against the orbs as they collided into it. His arm felt the impact from the orbs as pain shot through it, all in all however he managed to keep himself reasonably safe from the attack.

Despite the cracks in the shield showing it's nearing breaking point Lucidus decided it was time to get into close combat. He wasn't sure just how well Star was in close combat but Lucidus had hoped that she was less dangerous then she was at range. However the only real way of finding that out was by gettign into clsoe combat. Lucidus conjured an arrow in his hand and it then began to turn into a blade of sorts, he made his way towards Star quickly but also cautiously before aiming a strike towards her right arm.

Star wasn't too happy about Lucidus rushing towards her. Close combat wasn't something she excelled in. She could make do with a few tricks, but it was definitely not her preferred place to be in a fight. Still, she had trained hard this summer to get better at it, and after getting through Bran and Valentine, she certainly wasn't going to shy away. The photomancer lowered her hands, the barrier of light melting away as she stretched out her left hand.

"Alkaid."

Light flared up in her palm, tracing up her arm as the other part of it shot outwards from the back of her hand, forming her light blade. The attack was coming for her right, so Star quickly swung her left arm in a sweeping motion in front of her, twisting her body around and deflecting Lucidus's blade. She jumped back quickly, holding her left arm in front of herself to protect herself as she fired off a couple more orbs in his direction.

Lucidus scowled as his blade collided into Star's. He wasn't really expecting her to be that good at close combat so it became as a bit of a surprise to him that she managed to easily deflect his blade. Lucidus put a slight bit of distance away from his opponent to think of another way of approaching this opponent. After all she seemed like she could hold her own in close combat. While Lucidus could also hold his own it would ber ather annoying.

It was then that Lucidus noticed more of the orbs flying towards him. He quickly jumped out of the way but two of the orbs collided with the shield breaking it. Lucidus still felt the impact of the orbs going through the shield but fortunately enough his arm managed to just get brushed past. The impact still shook his arm though, Lucidus decided to focus on ranged combat for now. Where the shield was once he formed a bow and his blade turned back into an arrow, he decided that quantity would hopefully override the quality of his opponent's powers. He drew his bow back and manifested several arrows firing them all towards Star in the hope of breaking through and damaging her. Lucidus decided he would save summoning Fenrus until later.

More arrows. Star's eyes widened, and she jumped backwards and away from the attack. The photomancer extended her left arm out, the blade dissolving and reforming the light shield as the arrows crashed into it. The shield was at full strength again, but she had been distracted during its formation, and it hadn't set as well as she would have liked. Star realized her mistake the moment the shield shattered upon impact. She let out a cry of pain as the shards pierced her skin, quickly crossing her arms in front of herself to protect her face and her torso.

The arrow heading directly for her had been stopped by the shield, but the ones coming in from the periphery came through, cutting her skin. Two of them brushed past her arms, one of them cutting open a line on her leg and the other brushing right past her cheek. Star landed on the ground as the attacks passed, breathing heavily.

That hadn't turned out the way she would have liked.

But she could counter. She raised her hand over her head quickly. "Pleiades!" she called.

Seven stars formed in the air around her, spinning end over end towards Lucidus. Their edges were sharp, almost like shurikens as they moved towards him.

Lucidus smirked as his arrows hit home, they were lucky at most. However Lucidus couldn't afford to get happy at every attack that landed on his opponent. Doing so would just cause him to get overconfident and make a mistake. He carefully watched his opponent as she recovered from the attack, despite knowing his opponent he couldn't afford to let his guard down.

Her next attack suprised Lucidus, he wasn't expecting something like that but nevertheless he had an idea of how to deal with it. He prepared himself for the attack and as the stars were close to him Lucidus summoned Fenrus in front of him. The wolf guardian appeared before getting hit by five of the seven stars, after giving a quick yelp the wolf then disappated yet again.

"I hate you for using me as a shield." Lucidus heard Fenrus's mental voice talking to him. "More important matters at the moment Fen." Lucidus quickly responded as two of the remaining stars managed to deliver small cuts on his stomach and arm respectively. Lucidus felt pain flowing through his body from these cuts, however they were rather shallow so it wasn't anything to bad.

Lucidus decided that despite the rather large waste of power uses that it was abusing the fact that her shield had broke was a good idea. He resumed his firing stance and pulled back the string of his bow, while the pain was making it a little more difficult he still managed to summon an arrow larger then normal. He muttered under his breath. "Uranicus Sparsum Telum." He then let the arrow go and as it flew towards Star a loud crack would be heard and the arrow would be split up into 50 normal arrows all flying straight towards Star as their target.
