If this wasn't a conclusive evidence then she doesn't know what else is.

Begin deduction.

Looks like the detective was right about her not being whom her mother thought she was. If this mail isn't forged then it was clear that she was an acquaintance to the labor rights activist, the ones who supposedly 'kidnapped' her. A staged kidnapping, that's what. For whatever reason she had allowed herself to be kidnapped, apparently to help the labor rights activist to get the attention of the girl's father.

Now. From this point on things gets complicated. One possibility she had earlier was that the daughter was kidnapped by a third party, which could probably explain the mystery caller. However if the mother was defiant on the fact that the husband has no enemies, then this route is ruled out. Unless of course, the second kidnapping was done by a third party, and the mystery call was from the labor rights activist... If that's the case then things have taken a turn for a lot worse.

Another possibility, the daughter simply ran off with the labor rights activists after obtaining the ransom money. However that seemed unlikely as there's really no reason for the daughter of a powerful family who owns a large corporation to be a runaway with... ransom money. Which Mina was quite sure wasn't that much compared to what the daughter could have if she just asked from her mother. This is the least possible route she could think of, so rule that out.

There may be others, there are still a lot that she's yet to know about. It could happen one way or the other, in ways she never could have imagined. Too many variables, too many unknown factors...

...Waitaminute.

"I wish to know everything the detective was told of earlier," The girl said to whomever was present as she descended down the stairs, content with what she had found in the room. Really, she might have missed something he knows.

"The detective will see to it that my daughter is found! An arrogant girl such as yourself isn't even worthy! Are you even a proper officer or detective? I'd like to see your liscense!" The woman said, obviously still in a huff from earlier. The simple fact was people were prideful and when that pride was hurt they were willing to act self destructively in order to take out some sort of revenge.

"The REAL police and detectives are quite capable of handling this themselves!"

For such a cool-headed person you wouldn't have thought that anything would be able to even partially phase her. However this time the girl was certainly taken aback, despite barely showing it in her expression or action save for the little furrowing of her eyebrows. The girl simply kept silent, standing there on the stairs and returning the dagger stare from the mother with her own. The girl refused to back down. She's a police officer, an Ace Inspector, just like her mother... Her mother never backs down from anything...!

"SORRY! Sorry for the trouble! Good lord, come on, Mina!" A sudden crash came from the entrance of the mansion, and the burly inspector from earlier came rumbling towards the stairs, grabbing his daughter's hand and hastily dragging her away from the spot. "We're done investigating here for now! Thank you for your time, hope you have a nice day!" The man said over the repeated and deep bows, before promptly exiting the mansion with Mina in tow. Of course, the girl was none too happy with this.

"Dad, what is the meaning of this?! We were conducting an investigation!" The girl yelled indignantly at her father, dropping the business tone she was used to and was all out annoyed at the interference.

Her father isn't gonna be the one backing down now though.

"I don't care about all that, you're still in school!" Her father snapped back at her, the goofy and silly expression he was so used to having on his face had completely disappeared, to be replaced with a look more fitting of a parent scolding his child for a wrongdoing. And that certainly did the trick shutting her up, the girl loosing her cool for the second time in a couple of minutes. "You really shouldn't be concerned about all this stuff at all! You should be more worried about your education, not catching criminals! Leave that to the REAL police!"

Right now the girl was more than just surprised, she's dejected. The idea of having someone reject her as a police officer was painful to the girl. Especially not... especially not after mom...

"...Mina?" The man said after a few moment of silence, afraid he might have actually went too far in telling her off. "...Mina ...I..."

His hand that was raised out of concern was slapped off from the air. He had one fleeting sight of the girl's angry expression directed straight at her father, before she turned on her heel and quickly stomped away, clearly with the aura of fury accompanying her wake.

~~~~~
She immediately headed back to the crime scene soon after, unwilling to let those people who denied her position as the Ace Inspector deter her from solving this case and capturing the criminal and bringing them to justice. It was how her mother had done things, how her mother had thought her...
But... where does she even start...?
It wouldn't be long until the girl heard a motorcycle nearby. Oliver leaned forward arms resting on the handlebars as he glanced to her. He was about to say something cocky when he noticed her expression... Ah.. That expression.. He knew that one well. He sighed heavily before taking off his helmet
At times like these he had to wonder what Jameson would do or say. What action or words would lead to the best outcome? But in time like this Oliver felt more confident. Because it was a girl, for one, and because he understood her feelings a bit. She lived in her mom's shadow like Oliver lived in Jameson's. She hated being treated like a second rate inspector just like he did.
She was prideful, though. He couldn't come across like he was pitying her. He'd have to go about this the right way, that's where it being a woman was a good thing. With guys Oliver could care less but with women Oliver generally understood what to say and how to say it.
" You know, kidnapping cases are especially important to me.." He said quietly. "Because I know how that feels to feel scared and alone and like there's no one that can save you..." He paused and glanced to the girl before laughing. "Sorry, rambling again." He said rubbing his neck with a sigh. "Hey uh.."
"I've hit an impasse on my investigation and I feel like.. maybe now isn't the best time for us to be competing. For her sake perhaps it's best to work together? I could use a reality breaker right about now.." He said flashing her a small smile.
"What is with that smile? You look creepy,"
Yea... Just endure that for now.
The girl simply replied to his offer with a huff, folding her arms and staring at the trees, wholly uninterested in partnering with him whatsoever. Especially not after HE was the one who decided that they solve the case in their own separate ways. Really, what's up with him, suddenly wanting to partner up...?
...
"Do not be ridiculous. There is no way I would be the one to help you,"
The girl said with the same business-ey tone, not looking at him. Though this time it somehow seemed... forced? "I have told you earlier. Your job as a detective is just to find the culprit. As a police officer I will be the one to apprehend them,"
Don't mind her, that's just her style of accepting the proposal and admitting her inability as a full-fledged investigator. But of course, she would never say that to anyone. Well, pride aside. "If you would be so pleased as to share any information you have obtained?"
"Ghkk!" He scowled clenching his teeth tightly as he tried hard to suppress a scowl. He buried his hand in his palm grinding his teeth with frustration. In the end he was one hundred percent correct about her being much like the annoying type of girl he most hated. Chetri, Robyn, and now Mina. Girls that couldn't take a hint even when it was right in front of her.
"So not cute...!" He said as he exhaled a long breath and wandered back to his bike as he got a helmet from under his seat and tossed it over to her. "If you want to know then.." He paused as he pointed back over his shoulder to the bike. "Then come with me." He said as he put on his helmet. At times like this he was kind of glad he rode a bike..
A bit of torture for her to earn what she wanted..! Payback for her bad personality. Besides even a girl like her wouldn't be completely immune at that distance, right? Her heart would go DOKI DOKI pressed against him and her femininity would blossom! There was a saying like 'the first to fall in love looses' right?
Well ignoring that idiocy he also needed her to go with him to his next meeting so that they could continue this investigation.
"Wait... w-we are going on a bike...?" It probably wasn't apparent considering how well she managed to keep that cool expression on her face all the time, but you can tell from the slightly shaky voice and the little bead of cold sweat that... riding a bike... wasn't exactly something she had expected to do. Or was keen to do. For some reason.
"I, uh... do not... do not get me wrong, there is no way I would be afraid of riding a bike... Why... why should I be? That is totally ridiculous..." Yes, it was incomprehensible. why would anyone be afraid of riding a death machine going at a hundred miles per hour with the potential of crashing into a car or a truck or an airplane? Only a coward would think like that and she is not a coward so she should not be afraid of riding a bike!
...
Yeah, she's not looking too good at the moment, holding the helmet tightly in her hand as though she just wanted to toss it away, standing there as rigid and unmoving as a log. But no... she's not afraid...! "A-and... since I am... not afraid of riding a bike... I will... I will t-take the offer..." Totally not afraid at all! The girl put on her helmet, walking towards the bike in such a stiff manner and, after pausing for a significant amount of time just staring at the so-called death machine swung her leg over the seat, instinctively wrapping her arms tightly around Oliver. Too tight, perhaps. "This... this is simply a safety precaution. Do not think too much of it..."
"I'm not thinking anything of it at all.." He said not even trying to hide his grin as he strapped on his helmet. This was it! The desired effect! No, even better! She was completely terrified of it! Even if her grip was painful he was enjoying himself far too much to care. That cold demeanor, that cruel tone, but now she was shakily hesitating and completely vulnerable!
All that was left was to use it..
The bike tore down the streets, taking corners at nearly a ninety degree angel, it ripped between cars and screamed down the roads violently. Oliver was pushing the machine to it's absolute limit...
Inside his mind he was extremely giddy. That cold look! Those cruel words.. That dismissive tone! That inability to comprehend basic social functions! This was his revenge! Weep! Cry! You deserve it! Saying you love someone and then ditching them on valentines! Spending Chritmas alone! Spending Christmas with Chetri! Being thrown around! And saying that she loved him! All of woman kind deserved to be punished!
Mwahahahahah!
....it's possible that lately he'd suffered some psychological trauma and Mina had somehow triggered it....
Anyhow once he got off he bike he was composed once more. "Ah, are you alright..? You seem pale.." He said offering a hand to her with a warm cheerful expression~
If murdering people was not a crime she would murder him right at this moment for making her go through such... such... she can't even find the right word for it, her mind was completely ransacked at the moment. Too bad in fact, that the girl couldn't even notice the cheerful grin on his face over her tear and fear-filled eyes, lying on the ground with her legs shaking so much they couldn't even support her own weight. "Do not... do not be ridiculous... I am simply... I was just..." God no, the girl looked as though she might just puke any second now, she couldn't even finish her sentence.
Eh, she'll recover.
Maybe.
In a few days.
Hopefully.
"Where... where are we...?"
The girl said, still a bit weak from the traumatizing death ride from earlier, taking his hand for support as she let herself be pulled up to her feet. The girl was too preoccupied about staying alive she didn't even have the chance to take a look at where he had taken her to. "I... sincerely hope you did not bring me to a desolate place under the pretext of doing an investigation to take advantage of me..."
"Hah! Take advantage..? I don't take advantage of women. Only the lowest form of trash would put their hand on a lovely lady against her will." He said trying not to laugh at her condition. He had to admit that this was kind of cute. She was so shaken up by it that it almost made him feel bad, alllmost. But not quite. So instead he defaulted to finding it terribly funny instead and tried very hard not to laugh at her.
"No, I took you out to this warehouse. This is where my investigation lead me. From the mother I managed to learn that the meeting place for the drop off of the ransom wasn't far from here, then I asked my local criminal connections if anything strange was going on. During the time the girl was kidnapped there was unusually high activity here so I came here to investigate. However at the time I didn't see anything within that was interesting.."
However Mina would find something interesting. A presence within the building that they were outside of, but not in it. No, instead it was below. Oliver had searched it and found no entrance to a lower level and yet there was someone inside there down below the ground level.
"I am surprised that is not you," Yeah, she just had to say that. The girl was still a bit miffed at the fact that he had just took her on a death ride across town, so you can't really blame her for the extra snark.
But anyway. "You have a criminal as your contact...?" She couldn't help but feel... disapproving, of the idea... She wanted to have a talk about it, but the boy pressed on with the result of his investigation so far, so she had to drop it for some other time. Now. He said he hadn't found anything that could be of interest... But she begged to differ.
"Are you quite sure you have not found anything incriminating?" The girl said, part of her wanted to add something behind the sentence as a jab but decided against it. The girl wrenched open the sliding metal door of the warehouse with a loud metallic creak, walking into the warehouse with an air of authority, not even once considering the idea of something lurking behind something somewhere.
She really should. Especially when her ability kicked in.
An ability that all psychic should always have, the ability to sense... something.
It would at least help if she could be proficient with her sixth sense, but she's not, so all she could get was... a high amount of activity... that even with her own abysmal ability should be able to pick it up. Interestingly enough... The girl lowered herself down to her knee, tracing a finger on the floor as though focusing on the otherwise unremarkable gray ground. "They are underground..." She muttered in a small voice. "No hidden entrance...?"
"Criminal contacts are useful in our line of work. I don't aspire to be some 'seigi no mikata'. An ally of justice. I'm just someone that tries to do as much good as possible... Jameson calls it 'living as correctly as possible'? Either way if a person that operates outside the law is the only one that can help me catch a much more dangerous criminal then logically I shouldn't take him down because he's more useful to me as a free man." He glanced around curiously, wondering what exactly could be done for this situation.
A sub level that he couldn't find the access too.. "Living rigidly is noble, but it creates as many problems as it solves. Things in this world that don't bend will eventually break." He said as he typed into his phone and called up Beaumont.
"Did you get my message?" ... "Yeah, any blueprints you can get access too.." ... "I see.. Thanks." He closed the call and opened a file sent via text. Blueprints. "There is a basement in the building's original design.." He said wandering over. "Around here is where the old entrance was.." He looked around and sighed. "Times like this I need Seth to just break through..."
"...You talk like my mom," It was the only reason why she decided not to argue with him at all.
"Are you saying that there are no entrance to the underground area?"
The girl stood up, tapping her foot on the floor twice before promptly moving towards the far side of the warehouse, walking along the wall and tapping her knuckles at it. "I may take that word. However there has to be some connection between the underground and the surface. No one can live being buried underground for very long. And even if there are no entrance there has to be a way for those people to get there in the first place,"
She stopped in her track, lazily twirling a finger on the wall as she turned back to Oliver. "I may be able to trace down the residual emotions of those who have been here. Feelings usually leave behind a lingering aura in the air, and some people, myself included, are able to sense it. Not to the extent of my mom though," She added the last sentence under her breath. "Think of it like the spiritual remains of dead people that haunts a certain area. Only in a much more subtle sense. I can track down their trails which will hopefully lead us to a hidden entrance. Somewhere. Possibly. ...Do not question me," The girl added snappily.
"Heh... what complicated feelings you seem to have for your mother..." Oliver said with a grin. Well if she could do such a thing then he wouldn't get in her way. Though the truth was he was more interested in her comments about her mother than the ones she shared about her powers.
Oliver knew all about that sort of twisted logic. Ever since he'd been saved by Jameson he'd been comparing himself to Jameson. He'd always tried to follow in that man's footsteps, he even tried to live life like that man. Back during 'endgame' he'd finally come to terms with the idea of taking lives and that he couldn't live like Jameson. Only recently he'd fully committed to the idea that he could live in his own way, following in Jameson's footsteps without emulating him.
"You know i don't like it.." Oliver said with a sigh as he looked to the girl. "Comparing yourself to your mom isn't fair to you. Your mom was amazing but I think you're already pretty amazing to be out here in harms way for someone else's sake. So what if your powers aren't as refined? You're still young and you have a lot of time to work on that. And I bet there are things you're better at than she was, even if you don't know what they are yet."
"Your mom was your mom, but you're the only one that can be you. The things you're good at, and the things you can do.. Why not focus on those things?" He flashed her a small smile before glancing around. "Anyhow lead away."
She'd find the path of residual emotions lead to a tile of floor nearby, a very small groove was in the floor that if you reached your fingers into it you could grip that tile of flooring and lift it straight up without any problems.
"I told you before, that smile is creepy. Stop doing that,"
...Right.
It may seem like the very same snarky remark she made as last time, but this time it seemed as though she simply did it to escape the topic of conversation... Though with that cool business look on her face and that cold flat tone of voice you seriously can't tell. For all he knew she probably just enjoys taking jabs at him. Even if she doesn't show it.
"...See. Hidden entrance,"
The girl said with a suppressed triumph, tapping a particular tile of flooring with her foot. She... stood there. As though waiting for something. After a few seconds of waiting the girl turned towards Oliver and said impatiently, "What are you doing just standing there? Hurry up and investigate," Oh, so THAT'S what she was waiting for.
