It's just impossible to remedy her inability to find her way to get around anywhere. Despite having probably walked through the same alley for like... more than a dozen times throughout her life in this city there's just no way for her to be able to even remember what each street looks like save for a couple of specific places.

Easily leading to her daily dilemma of getting lost for an extended period of time until midnight. Of course, this could hardly phase the sevn hundred years old half-phantom, whose only way to get out of this situation is to walk around randomly in hopes that with every turn she would run straight into her destination. Fat chance obviously. Her other bet is to run into someone who could help her out at this time of the night. When the moon was out, eerie silence filled the air, the occasional dark cloud blocking out the starry skies.

Ominous, one could call it.

Not that she would ever pay any more attention to it than a lemon.

A black cloak flowed down into the streets, it was almost liquid in how it stretched out longer then whipped around in the wind, finally spilling onto the concrete forming a pool of black ripples around his feet hidden within the cloak. The figure's head rose, hood slowly giving way to bleach white bone. Hollow eye sockets with nothing within except to points of intense red light.

His voice was cold like the wind rushing through graves in a graveyard, terrifying and calm. His words run inside your mind as well as in your ears, coming from all around you rather than from that bone mouth. "It's time..." Came his calm reply. "Seven hundred years is too long to turn a blind eye.." He said as a purple energy formed into a scythe in his hand, long jet black from handle to the tip of the blade, and wrapped in ebony chains that rattled with each movement. A large red eye on the blade fixed on her.

"Go quietly or go with force... You've no options left..." He pointed the scythe to her. "Nex Queror" He said before movign towards her rpaidly, blade aimed to slice right through!

"How about neither?"

The half-phantom reacted mostly out of reflex, replying before she was even sure what she was replying to and acted before she was even sure what she was reacting to. Looks like the half-phantom is yet to be rusty from not fighting for so long. In retaliation to the sudden attack from the bony looking thingy wrapped in long billowing black robe the girl immediately raised her hand, and in a blinding flash of light materialized Hakurouken out of nowhere, blocking the scythe with a loud CLANG!

...Okay. So this is new. Or old, who knows. She'd probably met more than her fair share of everything trying to kill her since the last seven hundred years or so... as usual, this can't be good. Though apparently it's nothing the half-phantom would find out to be worrisome. Or so she thought. "Alright so... I dunno who you are, but I'm not gonna let you have the pleasure of killing me out of nowhere," The girl said in a surprisingly calm voice despite the fact that she was being assaulted out of the blue by a skeleton model she saw during science class wrapped in black robe and wielding a scythe pretending to-

Ba-dump.

Suddenly she felt tense.

Ba-dump.

What the hell is this rotten smell?

Ba-dump.

Her eyes widened in anxiety, a bead of cold sweat rolling down her cheek, the hand holding Hakurouken began to tremble and losing strength. She found herself unconsciously shifting her foot away from the hooded skeleton, with only one clear intent in her mind.

Get the hell out of there NOW!

She was scared enough to run away? He hadn't been expecting that! However escape wouldn't be so easy. He was determined. Since his foe was a legendary opponent that had lived for 700 years even a momentary advantage was necessary to hope to win, that meant pressing this momentary hesitation for all it was worth. He'd hardly be a reaper if he let her flee now!

The reaper pressed forward, his cloak flowing out behind him as he dashed in towards her, even as she hesitated he gathered up his power and force, taking his scythe's chain and whipping it around to try and wrap her blade and pull it away while he swung his scythe to slash into her with the other hand!

"You got what everyone got! A lifetime! But all lives must end!" He said as he moved to slash through her midsection and drain her life force from this body. Even if her body defied the laws of life and death a direct blow from his scythe would sort it out.

God... dammit, NO! She couldn't be bothered to even take note that her sword was taken away, there's only one thing she seriously wanted to do at the moment and that is to get the HELL OUT OF THERE as fast as she can. The half-phantom backed off, though her earlier faltering cost her valuable time as the scythe came down before she could turn around towards safety.

The half-phantom hissed under her breath as an excruciating pain shot through her abdomen as the silvery blade of the scythe made a cut across her midriff. Not particularly deep to be fatal but deep enough to drive the point home. She clasped a hand over the incision, feeling warm blood seeping through her fingers as she immediately turned tail and ran off in the opposite direction.

Get away... get away get away get away get away... the half-phantom repeated the words like a mantra, as though it could help her get to safety. She couldn't understand it, why the hell did that... that... thing! Why the hell did that thing scare her so much?! She had probably seen something much worse during her time back, but unthinkably enough that thing scared the hell out of her! The girl's breath was shallow and irregular, her heartbeat was erratic, she was running as though her life depended on it, trying to make as much distance between that thing and herself as much as possible. She didn't think where she was going, she can't tell anyway. Taking random routes and hoping she could lose it...!

She has an excuse.

This wound... it's not healing...

The girl ran into the dark. The city seemed eerily blacked out tonight. The pale light of the streetlights failed to illuminate the various nooks and crannies of the city. Deep in the alleys occasionally she might notice a flash of shadows burst by. Each sound was suddenly the death toll. Death himself was on her tail, after all.

The pale moonlight and deep sky filled the city with shadows, and the foe was part ghost giving it the power to become invisible and phase through solid materials. When it went to pursuers very few could claim to so easily be able to come from any direction with as much honesty as this one could. He could literally come from any direction, any avenue, and angle.

Eventually from above a large black figure appeared, blotting out the moon and landing in front of her. The cloak spread out. The only white visible was from the skull. Those same red eyes fixed on the girl. "You can't outrun death..." He said cackling as he dashed forward swinging the scythe at her again. "Eventually it catches everyone little girl!" The reaper said eagerly between swipes of the scythe blade.

There was literally nowhere to run. Everywhere she goes she saw something dark and black rushing past her, discouraging her to go any further and forcing her to turn back, only to have her route blocked again by whatever it was that had been pursuing her. She wasn't sure whether she was only facing one or many, but one thing's for sure. She's completely surrounded. Trapped in the middle of darkness being chased by some unknown creature... god, what happened to her luck...

It seemed impossible for her to be any more tense and anxious than she already is. Not knowing what she's going against only made it worse. Knowing it could actually harm her is possibly the worst case scenario. The girl glanced around rapidly, seeing alleys, that thing, alleys, that thing again, dark alleys she wasn't sure where it would lead, GOD THAT THING IS EVERYWHERE! What the hell?!

And that momentary peace she had when things seemed to settle down for a bit was just a fluke.

Blood curdling cackle, horrid chill that came from the hooded skeleton, seemingly freezing her on the spot, numbing her senses she couldn't even feel herself dragging her feet away. The half-phantom was trembling all over, cold sweat running down her face, fear clearly shown in her eyes, the girl couldn't believe just how much more afraid she could be at this... thing. She couldn't run, she couldn't escape...

She just... have to fight. For her life.

Quite possible the first time she had ever specifically fought for her life in seven hundred years.

"STAY AWAY FROM ME!" The girl yelled in a cracked voice, pulling her hands back as a bright flash of white light erupted from her hands, and from out of nowhere the massive sword Roukanken was swung forward to meet the hooded skeleton. She couldn't be bothered about blocking the scythes, that was just a blind desperate swing of the sword to sweep the thing out of her sight. She couldn't even think fast enough to fight properly anymore.

Each tiny cut would find her life force drained, each slash would see her grow weaker and weaker. Her own slashes seemed to do practically nothing against the incorporeal creature. It spun it's scythe to deflect blows elegantly. Each moment was perfectly to counter and parry, to hack and slash.

The creature was enjoying it too.

Pure powerful delight oozed from it's body, an overwhelming aura of malevolence and hatred flowed outwards as he used his chain to wrap around her arm to try and hold it in place so he could push the blade directly into her abdomen and draw out the life force more quickly..

Just enough for her to sleep..

It was time for her to sleep..

Impossible...

Impossible, impossible, impossible!

Why can't she fight back? Why isn't her attacks doing anything? Why is she being overwhelmed when seven hundred years ago she had been the sole horror and terror of a whole country? Right now however things seemed to have flipped. She's the one being terrorized. The sound of metal meeting metal echoed painfully through the silent night, the half-phantom being pushed back with each of her own strikes, incapable of dealing even a single damage to the creature, despite how many times she managed to count her blade going straight through it. But that's just it... Roukanken just went straight through it without actually harming it.

How much worse can this be?

CRASH!!!

Much worse. The girl had raised her oversized sword, that seemed puny compared to the scythe, attempting to block yet another one of the creature's playful strike. The two blades met with a deafening clang, before luck completely flipping against her. Upon the hit Roukanken managed to just barely hold it off, before all of a sudden it shattered in thousands of brilliant multicolored shards, dissipating into nothingness before the pieces could hit the ground.

The half-phantom only had a very short moment to gaze at the unfortunate event, before receiving a particularly deep stab on her shoulder to accompany the innumerable amount of unhealed cuts all over her. Youma gave an ear-splitting yell at the unnaturally excruciating pain, staggering and falling onto her back.

Whimpering, shaking, bloodied, injured, alone, weak, horrified, helpless, backing up wasn't even possible as the creature had her held in place with chains. The green and white of her dress was indistinguishable as blood red was all over. The green bow that usually sits on her head was somewhere in the darkness, ripped in half. The grumpy, or occasionally cheerful expression on her face was completely absent, instead there was only fear, fear, fear, and more fear.

For the second time in seven hundred years, she feared for her life.

She's seriously gonna die...

That word shouldn't have sounded so foreign to her. She had died tons of times. Why the hell should she be afraid of Death? She had seen his face, in the span of seven hundred years, countless of times, stabbed, beheaded, burned, staked, crushed, frozen, drowned, killed, killed, killed...

And every single time she came back to life.

But not this time. This time... she just knew. She's not coming back to life.

Death decided, it's been too long.

Without her knowing it, she was crying.

I'm gonna die...

Did she think crying would help?

I'm gonna die... I'm gonna die I'm gonna die I'm gonna die...

But isn't this good? At least she wouldn't have to live as an immortal anymore. No more having to take on seven hundred years worth of burden on her shoulder. No more problems, no more trouble, no more school, no more homework, no more teachers, no more televisions, no more Gokaiger, no more comics, no more Selene, no more Yuki, no more baseball, no more friends, no more Seth, no more-

I don't wanna die...

What?

"I DON'T WANNA DIE!!!"

The silver-haired girl screamed hysterically into the dark starless sky. It would have been a completely fruitless scream had something incredible not happened. Raising her free hand into the air there was yet another bright flash of white light as she once again summoned Roukanken. She hadn't learned enough? It's futile. She can't harm Death, she can't do anything. This is seriously just another... desperate attempt at... freedom...

There is Roukanken. But is it really Roukanken? The weapon she had just summoned didn't even look remotely like the ones she had used moments ago. If Roukanken was an oversized katana, then this... is just gargantuan. Standing vertically in her hand, the tip of it reaching well over a two-story house, the blade itself as wide as she is tall, the so called sword was engulfed in roaring blue flames that, contrary to factual belief, was completely cool to the touch. At the very core of the sword, one could faintly make out the outline of Roukanken.

This felt so nostalgic.

Enlightened Sword "Rise from Delusion"

"I WON'T DIE!!!" The half-phantom yelled once again, lowering her hand and swinging the gargantuan sword engulfed in blue flames around in a wide arc towards Death! Due to the sheer size of it collateral damage is unavoidable, the sword slicing cleanly through walls, lamppost, electric poles and cables, cars, houses like red hot knife on butter. The flames aren't actually flames. They're like... the other dormant half of her powers... from her other half resting peacefully in afterlife.

Can you really say resting peacefully? Her desire to live, to stay in this world was too strong, that she was actually unconsciously wrestling her other half away from afterlife, without intending it siphoning some of her powers from the afterlife.

Safe to say, it's an incredibly destructive manifestation of her own soul. A mere fraction of it, at least.

Suddenly she remembered herself using this technique about uh... six hundred and twenty four years ago? Oh god, she can't forget the terror-stricken faces of the people before she slaughtered them all. They all looked so funny.

He leaped up and over the blade. "IZANAMI!" He roared out, black wings spreading from his back. The reaper then reached the the chains on his scythe...... hesitating only a moment before shattering them. "UNCHAINED IZANAGI!"

There was a pulse of power from the blade. Two large twisted black bat wings grew out from it as the blade grew and curved into a wickedly jagged edge. Sharp points covered it and gave it a brutally violent edge. And all along the surface of the blade eyes opened. The eyes spun around wildly before all fixing on the girl at once.

The reaper's bleach white skull suddenly spread full of varicose black veins. His form became formless, his mass became shapeless. All that could be seen from the now solid black mass were two red dots and the long scythe blade.

A field spread out around them, drawing them into the spirit world. All sounds faded, all people vanished, all noises went silent, until all that was left was a pitch black city and a blood red moon.

"hehehehehe.."

"HAH.... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

The figure melted into the shadows.. vanishing..

"Where are you... WHERE ARE YOU YOU LITTLE BASTARD?!" Her scream echoed eerily in the vast plain of darkness, her fiery blue gargantuan sword doing nothing to help illuminate her surrounding. She glanced around, anxious, fearful, her whole action being driven by nothing more than her desire to live. Also meaning she's a whole lot less sane than she usually is.

"GET OUT HERE I TELL YOU!!!" She yelled yet again, wildly swinging her sword around without managing to hit anything. "DON'T YOU HEAR ME?! I'M NOT GONNA DIE!!! IF YOU'RE DEATH THEN I'LL JUST KILL YOU INSTEAD!!!" Just like how she killed everyone whom had tried to kill her during the past seven hundred years.

Underneath her feet a large red eye opened. As soon as it did so she'd find herself sinking into it. She'd be able to move off relatively easily however the eye would rove over following her.

On her left and right the pitch black walls of the alley opened up into massive eyes as large as she was. "Are you afraid of death...?" The voice said calmly. "People die every day.."

A snap behind her, she'd turn and find a solid black body hanging from a black noose that seemed to be part of it's body. It's limp form swung slowly in front of her... "Some even choose it.."

A slit of white split across the formless hung man's face opening up revealing bleach white. A bony finger emerged from within the hung man and then another. The bony hands pulled the slit open revealing a skeleton which forced it's way out of the impossibly small space cackling wildly. "EVERYONE DIES!" It stepping out and walking towards her, the now unoccupied hung body dripping black goop which pooled around the shadow's feet turning into worms which slithered up his body forming into his robe. He plunged his hand into the eye in the wall causing it to gush blood. From the eye he ripped out his scythe, causing more and more blood to flood out, pooling around their feet getting thicker and deeper.

"Including you..." He said leaping forward and swinging the blade, now with amazingly powerful blasts, even proximity to it was enough to drain lifeforce away from anyone nearby. It was clear the power before was nothing compared to it now.

The stench of death grew thick and the blood surged, deeper and higher.

The girl was unbelievably defiant, constantly refusing to give in despite the crushing terror that threatened to outright destroy the life out of her. Each time the voice came she swung the sword madly at their direction, though as usual never managing to hit anything. As though she was merely going against an illusion or something. But this is no illusion. It's a helluva real deal.

"Haven't I told you... I WON'T DIE!!!" She yelled once again, continuously trying to resist her assailant. The half-phantom raised her flaming behemoth of a sword, swinging it in a blind wide arc in front of her to meet with the scythe--!

BOOOOMMM!!!

That kind of power was something she would never want to face in her current condition. As powerful as she is at the very moment, it wasn't enough. The scythe and the sword struck each other with a deafening clang, energy surged unstably from the point of impact before all of a sudden a massive explosion happened on her part, Roukanken blasting off to thousands of deadly little shards as though a grenade had blown it up. As a worse part of the consequences, the scythe finally struck her head on, cleaving on her front from her shoulder down, forming a large bloody gash.

It was too shocking, too painful, she couldn't even scream anymore. Her eyes was wide open, blank and dead-looking, her body went limp as she fell to the ground on her face. Her blood mixing with the metaphorical blood as the last shard of her consciousness faded away to nothingness...

...Seth...

The world shattered apart..

Back in reality the reaper took off his hood. "You poor thing.." A feminine voice said, the scythe turning into a lantern..

Posted Image

"Her life force is weak.. I may have overdone it.." She knelt beside the girl, leaning in close and kissing her, breathing in a bit of life. Not enough to bring her back but enough to keep her from dying. She sat up and lifted the girl off the ground. The lantern took form into an imp.

"Nyeh heh~" He said eagerly as he poked the girl. "What a cutie~" He said turning to her. "You know if Death catches wind of us working for hire.."

"I know.." She said picking the girl up. "But we don't have a choice... I need the money and besides, she was an unreaped spirit..."

However not so far off..

~~~
"Cheh! A reaper working for cash!" Chronus scoffed. "I'm seriously pissed!"
"I, too, find it hard to contain my emotions on this matter.." Thanatos said coldly. "I want to slice her.." He said deviously.
"We'll follow the reaper.. We need to catch 'er in the act in order for it to stick. Grim needs proof. Solid proof... Accusing a reaper is a big deal and this is Japan's main reaper.."
"But..! Still!"
"Look I know." Deus said turning. "Even I didn't like standing idly by while she did that to someone I owe... But similarly I can't strike a reaper without being sure.." He pulled his hood over his head and stepped back into the shadows. "When the time comes we'll make sure she gets what's owed.."
