*Cling-cling*

The doors to the small bookstore opened, a fairly regular customer walking in, making his usual rounds through the store. He was sometimes in for books, sometimes in to see his girlfriend, and sometimes here to do both. Since she had the day off today, it was fairly obvious as to why he was here. Books. Meglumar wasn't much on reading them for entertainment. He still did, but not to the extent of some of the bookworms of Hyakuji.

No, he read mostly to learn things about magics, even if they were mostly just fake-ey occult books with very little useful information. Still, it was something to do, a way to support the bookstore, a place to get away from home to, and overall a fairly nice place to be. However, today was different.

He spied a semi-familiar face, Semi familiar in that he had spent some time with the girl recently. In the past. Fighting pirates. Typically, such a thing leaves a lasting impression. And right now it looked as if she was looking through books... "It has been a while....Valentine-san, right?"

Valentine was in one of the rows, looking through some of the books. She gave a somewhat confused look when reading some of its contents, "How is this supposed to make sense?" she said aloud but at a decent level, "How do a few sentences give you the power to do something?" The sound of the door opening hadn't caught Valentines attention until her name was called, looking out of the book and to the person who had called her, "Who are you?" she asked, not knowing who he was despite their adventure to the time of run and booty, "And how do you know my name?"

Valentine kept the book in font of her, the book still open on the page she was looking at, "I don't remember running into you, though I don't remember half of these humans names anyways." She turned her body to face him now, closing the book and holding the book in one hand, "So what do you want?"

Meglumar just....stared at her, with a sudden look of slight annoyance. She didn't recognize him. And she thought he was a human. OKAY. GRANTED. That was a common mistake. Only observant humans were able to instantly pick up he was a nonhuman due to the ears, but even still, this girl had just annoyed him greatly. He wasn't one to SHOW all his emotions at once, but the annoyance was there. OH was it there...

"First....and foremost....I...am...not...HUMAN." He said, the annoyance leaking out on the human part. He didn't have anything against his human half, or his naiad half for that matter, but he was half and half. He didn't like being lumped into the same group with either one. "I am HALF Human. Only half." He said, clearing that up right away.

"And second....We're classmates. We traveled into the past together. I saw you looking through books and was curious as to how you were since that time. Especially since you had some issues during said trip."He said, remembering her minor....breakdown...

Valentine watched as Meg got a bit annoyed, raising an eyebrow as he said he was half human, "Well my apologies then, half human," Valentine said in a slight taunting tone, "If you are half human, what is the other half?" She asked him. She stood the for a moment, her eyes looking over his body and facial features. The half human then brought up their relation to one another, "I think I do remember you slightly but I didn't care too much to worry about what everyone else s names were."

She looked away when Meg had reminded her of her breakdown when she was stuck in the closed room, "That is none of your concern. As you can see, I'm doing just fine." She was a bit embarrassed when he had reminded her, the thought of her showing weakness also making her a bit embarrassed, "I didn't intend for anyone to see that." After a few moments of avoiding eye contact, she looked back to him with her arms crossed and the book under her arm, "Is that all you came to talk to me about?" she said, slight irritation rising, "I'm not a baby."

Meglumar closed his eyes, more frustration as he just sighed. "My other half is that of the water nymph people, the Naiad." She then mentioned slightly remembering him, before going into a defensive state when he brought up the situation, becoming hostile and snippy the second it was brought up.

She mentioned not wanting anyone to see that, before looking away awkwardly away from him, before looking at him and reaffirming her status as not that of an infant. "I am aware. Regardless, it is social custom in most civilized places to express concern for others. Especially if the people have something from common. And from how you talk, you sound like you are not of this world either." He said, pointing out why he cared, and asking a question at the same time.

Meg explained to her what his other half was, Vale thinking a bit about what that would be like according to some of the books she has read. Valentine decided to put the book back as Meg told her about others showing concern, Valentine slightly rolling her eyes at the thought of someone showing concern over her. He then mentioned the way she spoke, her alien accent unnoticeable to herself. She put the book away and turned to look to him once again, "I didn't realize that my voice had any sign of accents," she said as she looked at him, thinking about her accent, "And yes, you are correct. I'm not from Earth, this time period being foreign as well."

"Am I being researched?" she thought to herself, looking around as she thought, "You are a curious one, I'll give you that." Valentine then walked over to a group of sofas, sitting down in one of them, "So, since you're asking me so many questions," she said, looking over to him, "What are your powers? And are they genetic?"

Aha. So not even from this time period? Well, considering the complete mess with this world's timeline, it almost sounded like a temporal repeat of the dimensional incident with the heartless. Except instead of the heartless, there was the machine empire. At least it didn't devour worlds and unleash a nightmarish apocalyptic war on the time periods.

She noted his curiousity, moving over to the nearby sofas and taking a seat, asking him questions now, this time on his powers. "My gifts are swordsmanship, and magic. I was born with some magical ability, but needed to learn how to use it. I also am the only known wielder of a keyblade at the moment." He said, tempted to summon it, but the girl had seen it already.

"You'll recall it as being the weapon that unlocked that door for us in the past. It's true nature isn't completely known, but what is known is that it is a weapon of Light, granted to those to fight against evil Many others had them, but eventually I was the only one left with one."

"Born with magical ability?" She repeated his words, "Sounds interesting. And, a keyblade?" She asked with a slight head tilt, not knowing what that'd look like. Meg then reminded him that he had used it on the door back in time during that one point where she did that one thing, "I honestly can say I remember it in detail but I do remember something about it," She said to him as she thought about it for a moment.

Meg then mentioned he was the last remaining one to use one, "Where are the rest then?" she asked him, "Were the others humans?" she asked, "How long ago was it? Do you like being human?" Valentine stormed him with questions, the little girl being so curious. She sat up a bit as he asked him the series of questions, listening in on what he had to say,

...When did this turn into an interrogation?

"....One question at a time." The half-nymph said, going through what she said in his mind, before responding. "First. Not human. HALF human." He said, still not letting that go. "And I appreciate my human half. It is who I am. Just as my nonhuman half. Just as I am sure you are proud of your people, whoever they might be."

"As for the keyblades. Some were human, yes. Others were not. My girlfriend, a human/elemental hybrid, wielded one. There was a walking shadow who wielded one. It all depended on who had the will to fight. Then when all the fighting was done, they vanished. Nobody knows where too." He said, going over that.

"Now it is my turn to question. You are not from this time, and seem dismissive of humans. Why are you here?"

Valentine watched the half human as he spoke, reconfirming to her that he was only half human. After he corrected her, he then began to speak of the keyblades and their wielders, "Sounds pretty odd to me," she said as she continued to watch him, "Must of a been a bad stroke of luck." She sits back a bit with one arm on the arm rest and the other on the backrest, her body still facing his. Meg then decided to ask her a question since she was questioning him.

"Why am I here?" she repeated, "I don't really know myself. All I know is that I didn't come here by choice, I was forced here. I was doing a routine mining survey for a company I work for, well, used to work for. Suddenly something went wrong with the charge and then I was hit with a large amount of....I don't know what it was but then I blacked out." She looked down a bit as she spoke, trying to remember what exactly had happened.

"I was lucky enough to meet someone who could help me with my situation but there was nothing else he could do. That's the result of me being here in this time period. But for being on...what do humans call it, Earth, it was part of my job." She continued to speak to him, her gaze still downwards.

She then looked back up at him and looked away immediately, "I don't need you worrying about me so just forget I said anything," she said, crossing her arms, "It's not like you could do anything anyways."

So. She was here by accident. A temporal one, to boot. Yep, a lot like the heartless war. So many people ended up in Hyakuji because of it. Some had found their way home, others, like himself and Star, had chosen to stay. It sounded as she was rather...hating her situation, which he could understand. "You are not the first one to end up in Hyakuji. And you shall not be the last." He said, subtly reminding her she wasn't the ONLY offworlder in the room.

"And while I may not be able to help, it is likely others here can. The people of this world are...creative. Some can bend nature to their will with a thought. Others can do miracles with magics. Others innovate with machines, and others are denizens of other realities." He said, pointing that out.

The girl seemed to be a rather...hostile and antisocial person. Unfortunately for the half-nymph, he was a good guy. Which meant he was required by good guy law to try to help. Right now, that would be by getting her to maybe accept other people COULD help. Not him though.

Valentine sits up as Meg informs her that she is not the first one and nor the last alien lifeform to be at Hyakuji. She is quickly reminded of the Doctor being one, the thought of others being here also made her think a bit. She then sighed as he told her that he couldn't help her but others could, sliding back onto the sofa. Valentine looked to him once again, "So you said you appreciate your human half," she said, bringing up what he had said earlier, "What about being human do you like? Wouldn't you like to be full uh, what was it, Naiad?"

She sat back up, this time properly, "Because humans don't generally have powers by themselves," she said, "They have to inherit it or gain it through some odd occurrence. I mean I know it's not just about power but about DNA. What if this planet preferred a better set of DNA? Don't you think that humans would be less at war and focus on better achievements in life?" Valentine was now getting deeper into philosophy like questions, her eyes fixed on his.

"No. I am what I am. I am accepting of that. I am a being from both peoples, a rarity. Even if it meant being an outcast back on my home, I am who I am. I am a son of man and a son of naiad. To be try to be something else would be to betray both of my people." He said, clearing up that question right away. Even if he was one to sometimes have wished and continued to wish to be one or the other, he was himself. To change would be to become someone different.

"As for that....It's true humans sometimes have to intermingle with others for power, but not all humans do. A good majority I know are powered through their own will. They were gifted in unique ways, yes, but they are capable of accepting and making that power their own. Humans are adaptable. There is no better with them. There is only different." He said, dismissing her argument as being rather illogical. While one excelled in one area, another excelled in another. Humans worked to do well in certain areas on their own, and that diversity led to this sort of a world.

"Your assumption is flawed. It is as if assuming a doctor of all medicines is as good as a doctor who focuses only on one. The doctor who studied that one will know about that one more than the doctor who is busy doing everything else."

Valentine listened as Meg went on, speaking of his reasons for wanting to stay the way he is. She was in thought as Meg told her of others powers and what they represent, Valentine still listening. The half human gave Valentine an analogy, comparing doctors to doctors, "But what if the doctor who knew just as much as the doctor who only focused in one field, wouldn't that make the doctor who focused in one area," She paused for a second, "Unneeded?"

She looked to him more intensely, "Of course you may think that the doctor who covers all fields to multiple areas would be pulled around all the time," she said, thinking of something, "But what if there were more than one of that same doctor who had mastered his craft?" She smirked slightly.

"And of course you may be thinking, 'Well that about the unneeded?' Well, they could always undergo more learning or find another job. I mean, why would you want someone in a position where they aren't suited for the job?" She leaned forward a bit, awaiting his reply.

"You're assumption is flawed, unless you expect every doctor to experience every single possible scenario." He said, shooting that down. "Their individuality is something that allows them unique strengths. And even if it did not, your suggestion of moving to a new form of work still applies to humans. They adapt to what is needed to fulfill the position. And they will each do the same job in different ways, given the chance." He said, pointing out how she inadvertently came up with a good aspect of people.

He had to wonder... "You speak of humans in rather derogatory ways. Do you dislike them? Disapprove of them? ...How many humans do you know as people?" He asked, genuinely curious. She didn't seem to know much about humans, despite being around them for a while... Did she see them as something other than people?
