Footsteps echoed off the concrete of the sidewalk. Quick at first before slowing down. Realizing just how far he had run, Declan turned a wary eye back the way he came. All those people. They had all saw him dead and then he came back to life. He searched his mind. There was a woman there as well. She had detained the others who had been fighting with ribbons it seemed. Her ears though. That bugged him the most.

Was she an elf?

He takes a careful look over the people behind him before he steps back more, beginning to walk backwards for the most part. The last time he regenerated in front of such a large amount of people, they burned him at the stake. Like a monster. The fear of that event was still deep and fresh in his mind. Of course, he had no idea if people coming back to life in Hyakuji was a normal thing.

He turned back around and found himself at a crosswalk. A soft sigh escapes his lips as he looks both ways and then proceeds across when the little light told him to walk. He was hoping he'd be able to return home without being found out. He still had a couple more blocks to walk.

"Where are you headed, I wonder?" A voice called out from right beside Declan as soon as the boy crossed the road, as Lavender stood with her right hand on her hip. And if he bothered to turn his head in the direction of the voice he would find none other than the elf-eared young woman (Lavender) looking at him with a smile. Of course, how she managed to track him down was another story for another time, which Lavender would only explain if he asked.

A bit surprised, he stumbled back to a safe distance of what he could only assume was safe. Upon taking a good look at her though, a puzzled look crosses his face. Was she the one from the mall? The one he revived behind? He stops for a moment, standing on the corner of the crosswalk. A soft sigh escapes his lips. He was about to continue to head on his way, planning on ignoring her, but her ears suddenly caught his attention.

He tilts his head to the side as if looking at other people. No one seemed surprised that she was just there and the fact her ears were pointed. He took a few steps closer and his hand lifted. He was standing fairly close to her when his finger touched her ear and just slid along the shape of it, a soft and gentle touch. "Are you an elf?"

The boy that Lavender had called out to suddenly reached out with his hand, and as the aeromancer was within an arm's reach of him, to touch her on the ear, sliding his finger along it. Lavender promptly responded by shrinking back, her ears drooping as held back a squeal from escaping her lips, her cheeks flushing slightly. "Are you an elf?"

"I could only wish I were," Lavender replied, before making a polite "ahem". "And please refrain from doing that again," Lavender continued, raising an eyebrow as she pointed to her ears as they straightened back to their natural position. She would've gone on to say they are very sensitive, but she didn't really feel like saying something like that to someone she barely knew, and out in the public no less.

"And I have questions of my own for you as well... what were you thinking, running off like that?" the aeromancer asked, recalling the situation back at the mall. "And how did you manage to do what you did back there... y'know, coming back from the dead and such. Even for a place like this, it still sounds like one uncanny ability..."

He gives a soft laugh. "With that kind of reaction, you could of fooled me. It's been a long time since I saw anyone with ears like that." He thinks to himself as he then catches her small *ahem*. His dark navy gaze watches her as she expresses her concern over him touching her ears. "Very well. I'll refrain from touching them.. for a while." He grins and then looks away almost suspiciously, looking about as he avoided eye contact with her next question.

"Y-you could call it magic.. I guess.." He turns, his back to her, the bug she planted still there. He gives out a soft sigh. "So. It's common for people to have powers here?" He turns to look at her. He then points. "One thing that has been driving me crazy. What are those things attached to their heads?" He was pointing to a person talking on a bluetooth mic. To him it looked like they were insane and babbling to themselves. He figured he changed the topic quite well.

"With that kind of reaction, you could of fooled me. It's been a long time since I saw anyone with ears like that. Very well. I'll refrain from touching them.. for a while," the boy said with a grin, although he quickly looked away as soon as Lavender mentioned his ability to return from the dead, as if he were hiding some sort of deep, dark secret... which the aeromancer guessed was most likely the case.

"Y-you could call it magic.. I guess.." he replied somewhat uneasily as he continued to have his back facing Lavender, apparently oblivious to the bug that the aeromancer had planted on him, which was what allowed her to track him down so easily. "So. It's common for people to have powers here?" he asked with a soft sigh, before turning in the direction of a nearby pedestrian who appeared to be talking to himself, although Lavender immediately noticed the small electronic device sitting in his ear to know it was a bluetooth mic.

"One thing that has been driving me crazy. What are those things attached to their heads?" Lavender giggled at the boy's question.

"That's a Bluetooth mic," Lavender replied, pointing subtly to the device on the person's head. "I've got one myself too, see?" the aeromancer replied as she removed one from a breast pocket on her jacket. "It allows us to speak on our phones while leaving our hands free to do other things," she nodded as she showed the boy her phone - a Sony Ericsson Xperia neo.

"I'm surprised you didn't know... I don't suppose you've spent the past twelve years of your life practicing martial arts in some remote Tibetan monastery or in some other isolated corner of the globe, no?" Lavender asked; not knowing his actual age. "And as for your earlier question... well, nearly everyone who goes to Hyakuji High School - whether a student or staff - has some form of super powers; though most of the townsfolk here are normal people. But when everyone you meet around the next corner potentially possesses some form of powers, you learn to get used to it."

He takes it and with some skill, places it on his ear, looking over her phone. "Why am I thinking that this is a computer?" He blinks at her comment and gives a slight laugh. "Heh.. I suppose you could say that, but triple the time." He looks and begins to press random things. "Oh my. I think it's calling someone." He blinks and tilts his head. "Gah! Where is that voice coming from?" He looks around quickly and removes the earpiece, looking down at it. "It's talking to me!" The phone was stating the call could not be connected. He then pressed more things.

"This is by far the weirdest phone I have ever seen. So small and sleek. The phones we had were huge and clunky. It was kind of funny to see people talking into them. They had big antennae as well." He soon accessed what he could only assume was a game. "Password?"

"Welcome to the modern world," Lavender replied with a chuckle as the boy commented on thinking that the phone she showed him was a computer, and began to fiddling with it, touching the various touch screen icons after putting on the aeromancer's Bluetooth mic, trying out the phone's various Apps, and clearly appearing surprised at the piece of technology, and pointing out how the phones he used to handle were large and clunky. Which Lavender could only wonder, was he referring to the first mobile phones of the 80's such as Motorola's DynaTAC series? Which incidentally hit the markets at least a few years before she was even born.

"I suppose I could have my phone back?" Lavender asked as she held out an open hand, beckoning slightly to the boy to hand her phone back. "Anyway, the name's Lavender Smith, I'm a teacher at Hyakuji High. I suppose you're a student from Hyakuji High as well?" the aeromancer asked after a self-introduction.

He gives her the phone back with a slight frown, like a child who was just told not to play with a new toy because it wasn't his. He perks up a bit and looks down to her eyes. "Ah.. I suppose I will be.. Just for a while to catch up on what I missed.." He gives a light smile to her. "I'm Declan." He thinks a bit. "Seems I missed a lot within the past 35 years." He moves and offers her his hand. "I suppose everyone still greets this way? Otherwise there's been some big changes since I was last walking."

"Thirty-five years? Oh my..." Lavender gasped in mild astonishment as the boy, who introduced himself as Declan revealed how long he had been out of the loop. While he didn't appear any older than a high school student, Lavender had witnessed first hand his rapid ability to heal - to the point of even being able to return from death; there was no reason to suspect he might very well be immortal, and therefore much older than he looked.

"I suppose everyone still greets this way? Otherwise there's been some big changes since I was last walking." Declan asked as he offered his hand to Lavender, proposing a handshake.

"Then be glad some things still haven't changed," Lavender said as she shook his hand before letting go. "I don't know how long you've been out of the loop, but if the way you're reacting towards the world around you was any indication... I'd say it must be quite a long time. Several decades, give or take at least," the aeromancer commented.

A look of shock slipped past him as he realized he probably just gave away some vital information. "A-ah.. Not at all.. It's just I live a very sheltered life. Yes. That's it.. I'm very sheltered." He laughs a bit nervously, obviously lying, but wasn't doing a good job at selling it. "Eh.. Eheh.."

He sighs a bit. "Well looks like the rat's out of the bag." He extends his arms in a weak shrug. "So.. I guess it's just better to come clean with my teacher, eh?" He straightens back up and just looks at her, crossing his arms. He seemed a bit different, like his personality shifted. "I'm Delcan Galbraith.. I'm over a thousand years old." He didn't look to the side or show any indifference when he spoke that, showing he was telling the truth.

"I'm not entirely sure why, but I don't age and can't die. I've been hit by trains and burned at the stake and still look like this." He moves a hand to touch his chin as if in thought. "About two hundred years into this mess you see before you, I made a drastic mistake. I pissed off the wrong people if you catch my drift and was cursed with neverending death, for lack of a better summary. I have died once a day for over eight hundred years. I liken it to Prometheus when he brought fire to the mortals. He has his stomach removed by a giant eagle every day. My curse is just a bit more creative."

He unfolds his arms and shrugs. "Well there you have it." He then raised an eyebrow. "It's uncanny how much of an elf you resemble, but that's diverging.. You said you were a teacher? What class do you teach?" He didn't feel the need to tell her how he got to Hyakuji. He was sure the people behind his arrival would look into divulging that particular information to whoever was in charge at the school.

"Well I believe you, Declan, although I can't say I've met many immortals out there... ageless? Yes. But immortals? Not so much," Lavender remarked as Declan revealed himself to be over a thousand years old. With the ability to heal like that - hell, with the ability to come back from death itself it's only natural that defying the ravages of time and aging was no problem to this immortal boy. The aeromancer was no stranger to people who defied aging - most notably Terado, who was a few millenia old at least, as well as Aisia. But while they do not age, and therefore die of natural causes, they could still be killed by violence.

"That's... that's terrible!" Lavender gasped after Declan mentioned how his immortality came with a massive drawback - namely how he would die at least once every day, whatever the means, like something out of a Final Destination movie. "But it could've been worse," the aeromancer continued. "At least looking on the bright side, you're not cursed with immortality without agelessness... I mean, could you imagine being unable to die, yet stuck forever in a constantly-deteriorating body, spending the rest of eternity as a shriveled, weathered husk.." Lavender ended her sentence by deliberately lowering her voice by a couple octaves.

"I teach music, by the way," Lavender replied with a smile as Declan asked about the subject she teaches. "And as to why I resemble an elf... I dunno. Might be a genetic mutation I guess," the aeromancer shrugged, as she continued her stroll down the pavement, looking over her shoulder briefly to see if the boy would follow her.

He stopped and just looked at her, thining to himself. She seemed so genuine about her compassion, yet he had been down a path like that once before that only led to pain on his end. He'd be careful still. The way she explained an old husk with immortality was rather appaling to think of. He had to shake his head to get rid of the image. His dark hair just cascading back about his face when he stopped.

He turns his gaze back to her own eyes as he listened to her explain that she was a music teacher at hyakuji. This at least brought a light smile to his lips. "Music, huh? I believe I have that for my third period." He gives a light shrug and looks off to the side. He was half expecting an angry mob, yet from what she told him, there probably wouldn't be one since powers were quite common in this place.

When he turned his gaze back upon Lavender, his music teacher, he noticed she began to casually walk down the sidewalk. He gives a light shrug, figuring that there wasn't much else to do, so he followed her. his steps quick at first to catch up, but then moving in rhythm to match her pace.

"So.. what is there to do around here? Since this is basically like being tossed into the future for me, I don't know of anything that's fun."

"Music, huh? I believe I have that for my third period."

"Then I figure we'll be seeing each other then. Like, a lot," Lavender replied with a chuckle after Declan revealed that music was on his curriculum. And as the aeromancer glanced over her shoulder she saw that the eternal teen was following her, quickening his pace until he caught up with her, before slowing down to keep in rhythm with her pace.

"So.. what is there to do around here? Since this is basically like being tossed into the future for me, I don't know of anything that's fun." Declan commented as Lavender stopped at a shop selling desserts, with the aeromancer buying an ice-cream cone for herself, choosing a rum and raisin flavored ice-cream.

"Well, how about having some ice-cream first, for starters? What flavor would you like?" the aeromancer replied, looking over her shoulder to see if Declan would be interested in any ice-cream.

He stared quietly at the back of her head as they walked on. He was listening to her responses as he found them vital. He showed a bit of surprise when she mentioned ice cream and looked away from her to take a look over the place, seeing they had somehow walked into an ice cream parlor. His dark gaze then looks to the menu as he perused the selections for something he might like. He glances to her cone when she ordered. The rum looked good but then she added raisins. He hid his doubt if that would taste good. He then picks.

"I guess blueberry and vanilla?" He stuck a more original idea and the blue and white cone was handed to him. He paid for it with what little money he had left. Upon realizing the lack of money he had, he turned to Lavender. "Would there be a bank nearby that could connect to an offshores account? All my money right now is in Europe." His gaze traveled to the Japanese currency in his hand, provided by the people who brought him here to Hyakuji and resulted in his accidental revival.
