NICE DRIVE!

Within a certain big city, in a certain commercial district a massive tower stretching to the heavens had been constructed. It was named for the organization that had funded its creation: Teiai Tower. Though its creation has been completed and the building fully furnished, it was not yet opened to the public. However, on this night its grand opening and true purpose would be seen. Somewhere within Teiai Tower, four youths from Hyakuji were about to awaken. A dim light illuminated the small white room. Erin, Ryosuke, Hana and Drake were all located in the very center of the room. Each person was seated in a chair, their ankles shackled to the legs, and arranged back to back in the form of a cross. As their consciousness returned they would immediately find their surroundings strange. The room was devoid of any style of proper decoration. In one corner was a desk with three drawers. Another held a mirror mounted on the wall. In the center of the opposite wall from these objects was a large steel door with a few small metal bars at the top as if it were a prison cell. The corner to the left of this held a small backpack and the fourth corner of the room was entirely empty. If those stuck in the chairs glanced a little they could vaguely make out the person seated to either side of them. Their hands were free, but with just a few moments of testing an unfortunate fact would become clear. Something was blocking the use of their powers and suppressing their strength to leave them on the level of an average human. However, for Erin it was all to familiar. It was just like that night on the Ship of Hope, Espoir. The final piece to this odd situation was a single envelope. One rested in the lap of each of the four students. With no clear way out of the restraints no real options remained aside from examining the contents of the envelope. As each person opened the envelope they would find a small typed letter addressed to them: Erin Haru Drake Hana Four students and four letters with contradicting statements. The contents of the letter seemed set on turning the four against one another before the night ended. However, what was the truth? If they revealed the contents of their letters then they would already meet failure. It was a dangerous game intending to be ran alongside the other games through the night. And the first game was about to be revealed! With loud clicks the ankle restraints unlocked and opened releasing the four students from being bound to their chairs. However, before they had time to rise or talk things out a voice began to speak over some sort of loudspeaker. "Greetings and welcome to Teiai Tower," a strong older voice spoke addressing the four students, "You have been personally selected to take part in tonight's tournament. However, before learning the particular rules you must pass this qualifying game. You're locked in this room and you'll have to find the way out. If you can escape then you qualify to continue to the full tournament. The time limit is thirty minutes. However, you are buying your time to complete this challenge. For every 5 minutes that pass you will owe 100,000 Yen. If you fail to escape within the time limit then you will be escorted from the tower and expected to pay back your debt with applicable interest as soon as possible. The countdown begins now." It was likely the group, despite Erin, might feel some sort of panic. It was certainly a terrifying situation to be in and the lack of powers changed things a great deal. What would be striking for Erin, however, was the voice. While it was unfamiliar to the others, Erin would find the voice all too recognizable. The image of the man it belonged to flashed within his mind for a split second: ![]() Yukio Tonegawa, a high-ranking member within the Teiai Group. Well known for his ruthlessness and his impeccable business sense. Any idea he champions twists to his favor bringing fruitful success. He is poised to one day control all of the Teiai Group. Freed from their restraints, the clock was now ticking away. Trapped within a single room the group would have to work together to discover an exit. This was the qualifying game to proceed in the tournament. Failure to accomplish the task would result in each member of the group exiting Teiai Tower with a 600,000 Yen debt. The first game had begun: Escape the Room THE DEVIL'S NIGHT HAD BEGUN AGAIN!

"Nnng," Drake mumbled as he awoke, "What the hell..." His eyes quickly darted around the room taking note of things as he tried to remember how he ended up there. However, everything was far too hazy. It was then he realized he was there with other people. His first reaction was to stand up, but he felt resistance and realized he was bound by the ankles to the chair itself. Reaching down with a hand, Drake planned to freeze his restraints until he could shatter them, but he found himself unable to do anything. "Is anyone else awake?" he questioned in a hushed tone just in case they had been kidnapped or something. Though it was at this point he noticed the letter in his lap. He quickly opened it and poured over the contents. His eyes widened as he reached the final sentiments and he quickly crumpled the letter in his grasp working to avert anyone else having a chance to read it. This was then followed by the voice over the loudspeaker addressing the group. So he had been forced into some sort of gambling tournament? While Drake couldn't deny the concept sounded fun, he didn't appreciate not having a choice about playing or not. Not only this, but others were forced along as well it seemed. But how did he end up in this situation? Suddenly it clicked within his mind. It must have started earlier in the day... It was raining and Drake was rushing to get out from the torrential downpour. In one of the rougher parts of downtown Hyakuji, Drake rushed under the first awning he came to and upon noticing the building was opened gently ducked inside to get out of the rain. Inside, soaked from the downpour, he found several groups of people seated at various tables all playing some game with white tiles. Drake knew the came was called Mahjong, but he had never personally played before. "Hey kid what the hell do ya think yer doin' here?" one of the gruffer looking men at the nearest table spoke up addressing Drake as he straightened the tie of his suit. "Ah sorry to bother," Drake apologized as he bowed, "I got caught in the storm. I was just looking for a dry place to wait until a things clear up a bit. I can try to head on if it's trouble." "Tch, no trouble," the gruff man replied, "You ever played before kid?" "Mahjong?" Drake questioned as he shook his head side to side, "I know of it, but I've never played." His answer was honest. He was interested in trying it since he had come to Japan, but thus far a chance had not arrived. "You got any money on you kid?" the gruff man questioned with a sly laugh, "We'll pass time with a game; we were just about to start a new one. You can pick things up as we go, but this is a gambler's game. You in?" "Ah, I've got a bit," Drake admitted nervously, "But sure, I'll at least play a some to see what it's like." Truth be told he couldn't resist. It was a new game he had never tried before or had a chance to master. The gruff man laughed seemingly hiding some unknown intent as he forced one of his companions to move and let Drake take his seat. 15 minutes had passed. "Riichi," the gruff man announced with a laugh as he tossed one of the 1000 point sticks into the center of the table. This was it. He had secured victory and there was nothing stopping him at this point. However, this was when the situation changed within the small parlor. "Ron," Drake declared in a calm tone as he flipped down his tiles and revealed them to the group. The other three at the table looked on in shock as they confirmed the validity of this claim. "What!?" the gruff man declared in anger as he smashed his fist on the table. "Buahaha," the man to the left declared as he slapped the table several times, "Well whaddya know... this kid's pretty sharp. Well done!" "I just got lucky I guess," Drake declared sheepishly. In truth, he had already figured out the basics of the game and within moments worked out how to read his opponents. Though he was still not familiar with the finer points of the game, he knew more than enough to overcome amateurs. 45 minutes passed from there. "Ron," Drake declared again avoiding sounding too excited as the gruff man pounded the table in anger. In just this short amount of time Drake had managed to win every hand of the game. He had went from the small amount of money he held on him for the day to cleaning out every other player at the table. However, as the gruff man lamented his failure at hoping to easily trick the young boy into debt there was a snake watching from the dark corner of the room. ![]() Lifting his cellphone this man called a certain someone and he spoke in a hushed tone, "Yeah, it's Endo. I think I've found just the right person for our little project. Yeah. That's right. Yes. I'll take care of it then; don't worry." Meanwhile, Drake was trying to be nice about his crushing victory. He was in the midst of offering to return their money considering it a payment for the "Mahjong lessons" but the three men seemed wary of accepting such an embarrassing loss. Drake never had a chance to notice Endo sneaking up behind him with the chloroform rag in his hand... A loud click snapped Drake from his memories as the group of four were released from their restraints. Standing up, Drake spun around to face his three "cellmates" as it were. Two boys and a girl. They were probably all students judging from their looks. "Well," Drake began addressing the others as he adjusted his glasses slowly, "This is a mess, huh?" There's evil in your heart .. and it wants out to play.
|
Hana dressed in a black dress with an accompanying black wig, walked the floors of the casino with relative calmness. Yes, it was true, an underage minor wasn't allowed there but what they didn't know wouldn't kill them. So it was up to her to make sure she kept her age a secret. Not that it was that hard -- with Hana's buxom figure, she could easily pass as an adult. But still, it didn't hurt to be careful. So why exactly did this young kunoichi sneak into the casino? Was it to try her hand at making a fortune? Of course not. The risk of getting caught out was far too high for that. Then why was she there? Let's just say it was like a training excercise. Sneak in and fly under the radar for as long as she could before sneaking out unnoticed. It was perfect to hone her ninja skills of silent penetration. But now she was inside, she had to find something to pass the time while avoiding security. Settling to watch a poker game nearby, she sat at a seat a few feet away from the table. Watching their faces, their expressions, their small twitches and nervous idiosyncrasies.. It was fairly easy for Hana to tell whether someone was bluffing or not. It was quite similar to receiving threats. Just watching their body language was enough to know whether it was empty or not. As time passes, only two player's cards remain unfolded. Both men are locked in a steely gaze, trying to determine who had the upper hand. "Do you think he's bluffing?" asks a man sitting beside her, nodding his head in the blonde man's direction. Hana looked over to the man and paused. She turned her head back to the game and answered, "No. The other guy is." The man looked at Hana with shock and a little confusion. "Really? I find that hard to believe.. I mean, look at him! He's sweating bullets!" Hana chuckled lightly and eyed the nervous poker player. "He looks nervous. But I don't think he's bluffing. That guy on the other hand.." "He's definitely bluffing." Unbelieving, the man scoffed only to have Hana's theory proven correct seconds later. Staring at Hana in shock and visibly awaiting an explanation, the teenager chuckled again. "He looked too calm.. I could tell it was forced." The shock on his face turned to stupor and then awe. As new games were dealt, Hana's uncanny ability to tell who was bluffing and who wasn't was proved to be much more than just a fluke. The man remained at her side, always shocked with each outcome. "If you're this great at reading poker face, then why don't you play?" he finally asked, puzzled as to why this young woman didn't put her gift of sorts to use. "I'm not as old as you think." she confessed, staring straight into his eyes with a sneaky grin. Before he could say anything else however, two - what appeared to be - security guards approached her. "Excuse me miss, we have reason to believe you are a minor. If you would kindly show us some proof of age?" With a sigh, Hana held up her hands in defeat. "Alright, you got me." All of a sudden, a chloroform rag was forced over her nose and mouth prompting her to retaliate at first. But it wasn't long before she lost consciousness. Hana's eyes flickered open before she looked around in a disoriented daze. Where was she..? A not very well-lit room, that's for sure. She opted to stare at the plain, bare wall in front of her as she tried to remember what had happened. Jerking upward from her slumped position as soon as she remembered, Hana acted more alert and wary. That was when she noticed her ankles were shackled. Right. Of course. Someone who knocked you out with chloroform would do that, wouldn't they? Ready to use her powers and get the hell out of there, it was only when she tried to that she realized she couldn't. She tried again. It didn't work that time either. Unnerved by her sudden loss of power, she shook her shackles angrily. She sat back and crossed her arms in a huff, not being able to do anything besides that. The envelope sitting on her lap finally caught her attention, which led to her opening and reading the letter within. .. The hell? A gambling tournament? What kind of gambling tournament took unconscious people and locked them up in a room like this?! Nonetheless, it seemed like it was the only way to get out of this hellhole. Hana ripped up the letter into tiny pieces of paper and let them fall at her feet. Okay, now that was done, now what? A male voice spoke in a whisper, asking whether anyone else had gained consciousness. The way Hana saw this was if she wanted to get out of here, she was going to have to sabotage these guys.. But if she came across an obstacle she couldn't get over, she would need help. So for now, it was best to act as nice and sweet as possible. That way, they'd see her betrayal less likely. And if she managed to get them to like her even, this will go even smoother for her. "I'm awake.." replied Hana in a soft, sweet-voiced whisper. As her eyes examined the room she took note of the things inside it. So there was a desk, a mirror.. Well, that was as far as she could see. What was behind her was a mystery to her. The sound of a click at her feet made her look down to see her shackles had opened. Shortly after, a voice started speaking. Geez.. This was the type of things you'd see in movies or something. So why was it happening to Hana?! Instantly, she got up to see what she couldn't when she was bound to the chair. There was a heavy-looking door and a backpack.. Not very useful. When the voice stopped speaking and Hana knew what she had to do, she instantly got to work. First things first, checking the door couldn't open. Sure, there was a very very slim chance that it was unlocked but it was worth a shot. She rammed her shoulder against it several times but to no avail. Seeing as the door wasn't budging, she moved over to the desk and pulled on the drawers to see if they would open. While she may have seemed a bit rushed, in this situation, time was money.. |

"Buaaah!" Haru shouted as he tried to realised his ankles from the chair he was sitting on. Haru didn't know what was happening in here, where was it, and how did he get in here! and why this chair didn't allow his ankles to have a freedom! "Gah.. This chair is annoying!" Haru said to himself as he was still trying to realised it. He then let out a sigh, now Haru gave up, this chair was really though, and his strenght was not strong enough to break the chair. Haru then turned his head upwards, and noticed that there's something strange with this room. This room was small white room, the light in this room wasn't so bright, it was dim, and The room was devoid of any style of proper decoration. The furniture in this room was just a desk with three drawers, mirror, and a small backpack. Haru was really confused now, he then turned his glanced to the other and he heard someone asking if anyone else awake, Hearing that Haru was relieved and answered "Yes, I'm awake!" Haru said to the other guy with a glasses. But when he said that he noticed something was falling from his lap. "Eh?" Haru then took a look of it and saw a letter. He then tried to take it up, it was hard with his ankles bound with the chair! But he managed to take it! "Yes!" Haru shouted in his mind, he then slowly open the letter, and read it. .....!! Haru's eyes widened after reading that letter and he quickly closed the letter and saved it! Haru was really confused what's going on here, and what was that letter supposed to mean? "A glasses boy...?" Haru thought in his mind. But after thinking like that, the shackles on his legs was being removed, it was freedom for Haru but when he wanted to stand up he then heard a Voice coming over the loudspeaker in the room, Haru listen to that man carefully, and yeah, it's obviously, this time he had been forced to join this gambling tournament. and---- "What!?" Haru shouted in his mind after hearing the man talking. Being locked and should search for a way out were fine! but! every 5 minutes that pass they will owe 100,000 Yen! "What Kind of game is this? It's an intresting game.. but why every 5 minutes that pass we will owe 100,000 yen? Really this world is a real devil." Haru said. Haru then tried to recall what was happening and why he could be in this room! But the result was zero... All he could remember was.... It was in the morning, And Haru didn't have a lot of money, yesterday he spent his money to buy unnecessary things, he regret because of that, and now Haru was really hungry, so he decided to go out for a while hoping that he could find some cheap delicious food. Haru then walked, walked, and walked, but he couldn't find foods that had a low price! Sighed, "Why does this world full with an expensive things??" Haru said to himself as he was really really feeling regret because of that he spent his money for unnecessary things. This time he really should search for a part-time job! If not, the world would kill him because of he didn't have money!! The world just being the world, It was really eviiil! "Alright then.. I think i'm gonna search fo----" Before Haru could finish his sentence, someone was calling him. "Oi Brat! Come here for a moment!" Said an old man, in front of that old man, there were a tiny table with three shells on it. Haru was twitching when he heard that old man called him brat, Haru then quickly turned his head to the oldman "Excuse me, Brat? What's that supposed to mean, Old man?" "Ahaha, no need to be like that! Just come here for a moment, brat!" The old man called Haru with Brat again. "Could you stop calling me that?" Haru said as he walked towards the oldman and scanning things that were infront of the oldman, and he changed his glanced again to the oldman. "What do you want?" The oldman then smirked "Intrested with my----" "No thanks, I don't have a lot of money today! sorry for that! and thanks, oldman!" A quick fast reply then came out from Haru mouth as he started to walk away from the oldman. Seeing that, the oldman then sweatdrop and called Haru again "O-oi!! Wait a minute, Brat! I didn't told you to buy it!!" "Er.. so?" Haru then walked to the oldman again, and lowered his body "Old man, I told you before I don't have money today.. Geez.." "That's why I called you, you don't have money, right? and it seemed that you're someone that love playing a game" The old man then stopped talked as he stared at Haru sharply. "Am I right, brat?" Seeing the oldman like that, Haru then gulped "Yes, I am. So what? You want to help me to gain some money with just playing a game??" "Hehe, Indeed. Let's Gambling" Said the oldman, hearing that, Haru's eyes widened, he was thinking maybe this old man would trick him, but if he really could help him, then--- no no no, he must be just using Haru. "What, brat? Do you think I'm lying? Hm, That's fine with me" The oldman then gave Haru another serious glare. Gulped. "Fine, I will join you if the game is an intresting game" Haru said to the oldman, Haru's answer made the oldman smile widely. "Nice answer brat, first let me explain the rule. There's just one rule in here, you win you take all the money, and if I win I'll take the money, simple isn't it? and this game's name is 'Shell game' " Haru was not sure for this, but again, he didn't know why but this game seemed to be an intresting game, Haru knew gamble isn't good, but he should try it! and so The old man explain how to play this game "All you should do is choosing which one that have a stone in it, got it?" Haru then just nodded as he stared at the three shells. "Alright, I think you're understand..." The oldman stopped talking as he stared at Haru "Remember brat, pay attention on it, or I'll take your money with me." The old man smirked as he start to put a tiny stone in the middle shell. Seeing that Haru quickly look at the middle shell. He didn't want to lose his money, duh!! so, the game was begin, the old man started to move his hand slowly, switching the shell one by one, Haru was confused what was the old man doing moving it slowly like---- "W-w-w-what!? Crap!" The oldman's hand now moving faster and faster, and same as Haru's eyes. Then it was moving faster and faster and faster, and now it's moving like a ghost!! oh my god! this old man is really good switching this shell, but that's not make Haru give up, Haru still focus. After awhile switching the shells like a ghost, the old man stopped. "Now, where's the stone?" He said while smiling at Haru. "Hm.. Do you think you can trick my eyes, old man??" Haru said as he stood up "The answer is in your right hand!!!!" The oldman's eyes then widened, Ryou was right! The oldman then smiled to him "How did you know, brat?" "Ha! Do you think I'm a fool!? I saw your hand open the shell and threw it to your other hands!!" He shouted while pointing his finger to the old man. "Khukhukhukhu, you're really good, brat! so I'm understimate you, brat.." The old man said as he open his right hand showing the stone in there and giving Haru his money. "Wanna another shot?" The old man offered for another game to Haru, and with confidence Haru accepted it, Haru won again, again and again. He was really excited for this game, Haru himself didn't know, was it just lucky or he just too good for this game! "Haha! See! I'm right!! now give me the money, Oldman! I love gamb------" A sudden chloroform rag was covering his mouth and nose, and after that-- Suddenly he woke up in this room. He didn't know what the hell is going on, and more important! his money was still right there!! After remembering that Haru then let out a heavy sigh, he lost his money and now he had been forced to join this gambling tournament, Actually in the other side Haru was really intresting with gamble and thanks to that old man!! He then shook his head, aside all unnecessary think and now focus on how to escape from this room! Just like they always said! 'Time Is Money!' "But again... Who is this 'boy in glasses' that this letter mention..? And... What's up with this room? Geez! Why I have so many questions in my mind! Gah.. Gimme a break! Alright! First! I need to focus to escape from this room!" Edited by Ryou, Jan 31 2012, 08:52 AM.

Look at his little dance
|
He couldn't believe he'd been caught so easily. But at the same time he had hoped to dive in and play the Teiai Group's games again. He had hoped to do it without dragging his fellow students in but... Well. He'd spotted them, but they hadn't given him the chance to say anything before grabbing him and putting that rag in his face. Unable to move his legs Erin looked at the letter, ignoring his fellow students for a moment. Success and Failure. He could only guess at the meanings. The losers on the Espoir had been forced into labor so it would probably be the same here. All four succeeding was the same as failing. But could he really condemn one of them? He looked the letter over looking for some loophole, but he didn't see one. He folded the sheet and put it in his pocket. As Tonegawa finished speaking Erin scoffed, but made up his mind. These were his companions, and assuming they all had the same orders he had to assume one of them would try to betray them, so he would confront the first person to try something. It wasn't a perfect strategy by any stretch of the imagination. But Erin didn't want to betray anyone. Someone would betray them and he would leave them to their fate. He could reveal that he'd been in this sort of situation before, but that might run the risk of making him the target. So, if he was confronted he would admit it, but he had no intention of volunteering it. Of course admitting he had been here before might also be something he wasn't allowed to do. It was noted alongside the victory condition. If any of the other groups had been aboard the Espoir then he would be recognized. That much was certain. But at least for this first event it could be ignored. They had to escape the room within five minutes, at least if they didn't want to waste money. Erin rose to his feet and spoke solemnly. "Let's get out of here before we owe too much." Regardless of their loss here he suspected they would be able to make it up as they progressed, but was that true? As far as he could tell they weren't going to be given a stack of cash from the get go this time. Would the events on the way up affect what they had at all? There was no time to worry about it right now. They had to get through that steel door. If they'd had their powers then he wouldn't be surprised if they could slam right through it but that wasn't the sort of situation they were in. So he would scout out for now. He reached the door and with a hop grasped the bars, pulling himself up to look outside of the room they had to escape. Maybe there was a clue out there. He had delved back into the darkness and he was excited. |

NICE DRIVE!
|
"Not a talkative bunch," Drake mused with a sigh as the girl and one of the boys sprung into action almost immediately with little to no comment, "I guess it can't be helped." Shrugging his shoulders, the boy moved towards the backpack in one corner of the room. It seemed the girl was already inspecting the desk after she failed to budge the door and one of the other guys was inspecting what he could see beyond the door himself. At a glance the mirror seemed to be just that: a mirror. So Drake reasoned the backpack was the best place to check for the time being. Still, the contents of his letter echoed in the back of his mind. One of his companions in this room had dealt with the Teiai Group before. And now they were being offered a bonus to betray the rest of them. Was this really true or just some ploy to turn them on one another? There weren't enough facts to find the truth to either outcome. As he opened the backpack and began to search Drake realized the danger in the situation. If he waited too long in good faith and he was wrong then it would be too late to correct his error. However, if it was all just a ruse Drake didn't know if he could forgive himself for what he might put another person through. ==== The clock had begun ticking and the four students would feel the weight of each second pressing down on them as the room felt like it back thicker and heavier. It was the weight of despair! Despair for the exit from their confinement before the cost became too high! Erin's success at the Ship of Hope, Espoir, had caught the eye of someone very high up in the Teiai Group and now he was being tested once more. Not only this, more students had been dragged in as a consequence as well. Unbeknownst to one another, each student's letter held sentiments fostering betrayal. But what was the truth? If the content of each letter was true then survival only came to those willing to sacrifice their allies. In truth, this was the hardest game of all. A game within the games intended to be played out throughout the night! Trust & Betrayal! As Erin peered through the bars he would find the view limited. However, what he saw looked very much the same as the furnishing aboard Espoir. It seemed to be a lavishly decorated hallway with a very ornate carpet running throughout. Directly across from the door was a small table that seemed to hold a letter upon it. However, it was too far away and the angle was all wrong to have any hopes of reading its content. Meanwhile, Hana began to pull at the drawers of the desk. She found that all three easily opened. Inside, though, each one held no contents at all. However, a single factor united all three. In the center of each drawer there had been scrawled some clear symbols as if carved by a knife. Left Drawer Middle Drawer Right Drawer "Huh," Drake spoke in a curious tone as he rose from the corner letting the backpack drop to his feet as he drew forth its contents for the rest of the group to see, "As far as I can tell it's entirely empty beside this... a can of black spray paint." The spray paint can in his hand was clear and there was zero way it could be anything else. Drake shook the can slowly and the proper sound echoed in the room. "I think this is just one piece towards a bigger puzzle," Drake mused as he glanced around the room again, "What about the rest of you? Anything?" |

Look at his little dance

"Another fancy place..." Erin muttered under his breath as he let himself fall, "We're in their fancy tower and it isn't some sort of eerie dungeon or the like." Though Erin couldn't say it wasn't a deathtrap. He hoped that it wasn't, but he didn't know. "Looks like a luxury hotel, though looks can be deceiving..." He looked at Drake. Paint? Maybe they had to paint something on the mirror and it would indicate something in the room. Not that they had some obvious pattern or the like to work off of. It seemed a bit silly he admitted. And they could have given them a marker or something if it was like that. Anyways there was hardly anything in the room... He went back to their chairs to see if they'd missed something on the bottoms or something. After all they'd escaped the chairs and they'd all immediately went away from them. It would be a place to hide something important. There was no benefit to betraying each other at this stage so Erin could hope that they'd at least make it out of this area as a semi-cohesive group. |

The girl was checking the desk, the other boy was checking the door, and.. the glasses boy was checking the backpack, For a moment Haru was looking at Drake carefully, he still curious about something, But Haru then shook his head quickly and took a quick step towards the mirror. He choose to examine the mirror, maybe that mirror was like an ordinary mirror, but-- "If that's just an ordinary mirror, why it was here? in this room? are we gonna use that just for to see ourselves in the mirror like we always did in our room? Uh... gimme a break.. I did it again... Think less, Do more, dude..." Haru thought carefully, but when he wanted to take a step towards the mirror, the glasses boy was talking to them as he showed the group a can of black spray paint. "Black spray?" Haru thought in confusion as he still walked towards the mirror. He didn't know what was that for, and yeah just like Drake said, that's just one piece towards a bigger puzzle, "Maybe we can find what is that spray for if we find another... things? or clue? I guess. so that we can escape from this room quickly!" Haru said to the group, and he turned his glance to the girl, It seemed that she got an intresting things or clue, too. However, Haru still really curious plus confused with that letter, Why he couldn't reach the rooftops along with him, that made Haru really confused yet curious, all the letter mentioned was that IF he reached the rooftops alongside the glasses boy, so before he reached it, it was okay, right? wrong? It was just a letter, and it made Haru thinking like this, geez, gimme a break, Haru shook his head again, "C'moon! Stop thinking too much! this isn't the time to think such things! Think less, Do more, dude!" Now Haru was in front of the mirror, he was ready to examine it from the front of the mirror until the back of the mirror, hoping that he could find another clue so that he could escape from this room quickly. Maybe it was like an ordinary mirror, but who knows? |

There's evil in your heart .. and it wants out to play.

As she opened each drawer one after another, due to unfavorable lighting conditions and a panicky mindset, Hana let out a quiet grunt at the seemingly empty drawers. Still, she stuck her hand inside to see if anything was stuffed in the corners. What her fingers met, however, was not an object but instead engravings. Carefully feeling each etched mark, she moved on to the next drawer to discover that it also had similar markings, but a different pattern. And the last drawer too. She turned to face the group, each person relaying a piece of information from their findings. The guy with the glasses had a black spray can, and from what the gentle-looking boy said it seemed that they were being held at some sort of high end building. But what did scratchings in the drawers, a can of black spray paint and their surroundings have in common? How could they get out? She just couldn't get it. "Ano! I found these weird markings inside the drawers.. I think they were carved into it," she spoke a little timidly, meeting their eyes nervously. "I think you guys should feel them.. I have a feeling they might help us get out of here. It doesn't make much sense to me, but maybe one of you can figure it out." Meanwhile, Hana continued to survey their surroundings, trying to think of how this all was connected or of something that might be of use. |

As Erin returned to check the chairs he would find nothing of particular note. However, when he checked under his own chair he would find that another letter had been taped to the bottom of it. Inside, it held a playing card, the Ace of Hearts, and another letter addressed to Erin from the Teiai Group. Erin Meanwhile, Haru was busy examining the mirror on the wall. For all intents and purpose it appeared to be a regular mirror. It was a full length mirror so it was about the average height of a person. The mirror was affixed directly to the wall itself with several large bolts in each of the four corners. Given this set-up, the mirror was directly pressing on the wall itself with no room to pry fingers between or see behind the mirror. "Curiouser and curioser," mused Drake with a soft laugh as he moved, at Hana's insistence, to inspect the marking inside the desk drawers. As he ran his fingers over the markings themselves Drake tilted his head in thought as he glanced to Hana wondering if she had any ideas herself about the situation. Carefully, he sat the can of black spray paint atop the desk as he checked the markings closer. "These definitely matter," Drake spoke up finally, "They have to be some kind of code. I wanted to say morse code at first, but I don't think that pans out. There's only two marking types which could represent short and long. However, the way they feel set-up leaves out a lot of possible letters due to how these are constructed and arranged. So they must stand for something else..." |

Well, if they failed to escape from here he could get them all out debt free then. Whenever they let him out he could remove the "For every 5 minutes that pass you will owe 100,000 Yen" rule. At least that was how it worked in theory... Erin wanted to continue though. If they failed he had a get out of jail free card... Could he use it at the very end to ignore the final condition? Then everyone would win together. It was a pleasant thought but someone would betray them inevitably and there was no guarantee they'd allow it. He'd probably need it anyways. Pocketing the card and letter with the other one he rose to his feet. If none of them noticed he wouldn't... No, he should mention it now. Pulling it out later would be strange. But he didn't want to be targeted... He would keep it to himself if no one called him on it. Walking over to the others he took his turn to investigate the drawer as well. So, they were starting with a puzzle. He thought a moment. His mind combining them from left to right though he doubted it would be so simple. Spoiler: click to toggle If that was what they were meant to find he couldn't make heads or tails of it. He shook his head dismissing it. It wasn't morse code. The second line of the set already wasn't a letter. "Yeah, definitely not morse code and definitely important." Maybe if they ignored the symbols themselves and assumed something else. Each pattern meant something. He arbitrarily assigned each symbol a number in his mind and arranged them
Erin had no idea what they were supposed to be noticing. Edited by Kaloo, Feb 5 2012, 02:13 PM.

Unfortunately.. Haru couldn't find anything from the mirror, and it seemed that it was just an ordinary Mirror afterall, so it must be just him, the one who ovethink it. but--"This mirror.. It must be related in something!" Haru thought as he stood infront of the full length mirror mirror, the mirror was directly pressing on the wall itself with no room to pry fingers between or see behind the mirror. It was really annoying yet curiousing. Haru then tried to knock the mirror, he wanted to make sure if there was really no room behind this mirror, but when he wanted to knock it. The girl in the group was calling them and said that she found some weirds marking inside the drawers. Hearing that, Haru then turned his head to the girl and quickly started to walk off from the front of mirror to the girl, and saw and felt the code in each drawers with his hand, from left until the right. It has different mark in each drawers. He look it carefully, thinking something about it. "Morse Code?" Haru thought as he saw the boy in glasses, and then turned his glanced again to the other boy when the other boy said that it was definitely not morse code and definitely important. Actually Haru didn't really have idea about this morse code.. But all he knew was that morse code was usually using dots and dashes or strips, but this all of this mark was using strips. The different was on the horizon position and vertical position. Eventhought if it was a morse code, Haru couldn't find some words that might be a clue. "So.. What kind of code is this?" Haru thought carefully, now they should think fast about it! if they couldn't find any clue of it then they would waste their time. And Time is Money in here! "C'mon! Think, think!" Haru then once again seeing the marks and he decided to discuss it with the group. "You see I agree with you guys, all I know is Morse code is using dots and dashes or strips, and this mark it's just using horizontal and vertical strips, right?" Said Haru to the group as he once again put his hand on the marks and feel them "Plus, look at this.. in the left drawer, it just have one ' - ' and in the right drawer, it didn't have any of this ' - ' symbol.. Eventhough we combined these three mark... er... gah.. It's not helping afterall! I'm so lame.. sorry guys.." Haru then moved his hand up to his head and scratched it, but then when he did that his eyes caught the can of black spray paint. "Eh? This is..." Haru then took it and then shook it slightly, want to make sure if it is still full or almost empty. "What is this for?" Haru asked stupidly, of course it's for painting something, duh! And yeah, Haru was confused about the mark, and waited for the other response, maybe they could solve it if they were discussing about it. But again, Haru thought maybe if after discussing it they couldn't find any clue of it, then it would be just a waste of time, so Haru decided to look around again while the can of black spray paint still in his hand, and then look at the lamp. "Should I paint it on there? hehe" He joked around eventhough it's not funny afterall. Plus, now he couldn't just stay in one place. While thinking about the marks, Haru then looked around again. OOC As the others took their turn feeling out the bottom of those drawers, Hana's eyes watched intensely as she tried to gather some thoughts. What resources were they given? These ambiguous drawer markings in some sort of code, the can of black spray paint, and from the surroundings around them; the mirror, the large steel door and the chairs. How could they make use of these items, or how could they use them together? The first thing that came to mind when she thought of code was a lock. The code must be for a lock, so where would it be? Her eyes fell on the steel door and she approached it, placing her palm on the cool steel. How was the door locked? Perhaps there was a way to input a code? Either way, she couldn't see an easily identifiable lock on the door. She wrapped her slender digits around the cold metal bars and shook them, checking to see if they were set in place. Who knew, maybe moving the bars were the key to their freedom.. Even if it did seemed far-fetched. Right now, she felt like she was grasping at straws. "Any clues, guys?" she called out in an awfully strained cheery voice. One thing she felt strongly about right then was coming back here when she had her powers back and obliterating the fuck out of this place. |

NICE DRIVE!

Before they knew it, ten minutes had passed as they puzzled over the proper way to escape the room. The group seemed to find clue after clue yet nothing was starting to bring forth the light at the end of the tunnel. Now, all four had debt towards the Teiai Group. If they escaped then perhaps there would be the chance to remove it during the subsequent games. However, should they fail then they would descend into the ultimate Hell! "Well there's one thing we can all agree on," Drake commented as the discussion continued, "Everything we've found so far is probably important for our exit. The spraypaint... this code in the desk drawers... that mirror has to be connected somehow too..." And saying this, Drake walked across the room to begin inspecting the mirror himself. Meanwhile, Hana checked the door again to see if there were any secret devices that might reveal a way to input a code. As she felt around the door and particularly the handle nothing seemed to budge or click. For all intents and purposes, it was just a simple metal door. If there was some mechanism to its locking system then it was elsewhere in the room. However, then a voice echoed over the intercom as Tonegawa informed them of their situation, "Attention, ten minutes have passed. You now owe the Teiai Group 200,000 Yen. I'd advise you to hurry up if you intend to escape this room...heh..." "Dammit," Drake sighed with frustration, "We have to do something..." Turning, the boy adjusted his glasses and went to pick up the chair he had been seated in. It seemed like he was about to do something drastic spurred on by his own frustration. Returning towards the mirror he began to move faster and shouting angrily he smashed the chair into the mirror itself. As it shattered thousands of tiny pieces of glass piled at the floor. Meanwhile, the chair itself (being of poor quality) broke and splintered apart adding to the pile of debris. However, Drake's frustration was replaced with a eureka-like gasp. "Everyone, come look at this!" Drake exclaimed as he pointed towards the shattered mirror. Anyone bothering to look would most likely find themselves surprised as well. Hidden behind the mirror was a small keypad. It had been built directly into the wall and centered at roughly chin-level such that trying to glance behind the mirror as it was attached to the wall would seem as if nothing was there. Only by destroying the mirror could this element be revealed. If there was a keypad, this meant they could enter some sort of code. Though still unsure of its exact meaning, the group had a code. However, a new problem presented itself along with this discovery. Despite being a keypad and having its buttons clearly lined, there were no numbers one each button. The pad held 9 buttons so one might assume that they were numbered 1-9 going in three's from left to right top to bottom. However, could that really be the case? It felt as if every step the group took forward only set them back several more... |

Erin wasn't surprised that they'd failed to escape but he was annoyed about it. He'd really hoped they'd make it out before the time. Well, they still needed to make their way out. Then Drake shattered the mirror and a chair. Damn it! They'd probably needed that mirror somehow. Marching over to reprimand him he saw what had been discovered. "Glad you weren't keeping your cool." Erin said suddenly more cheerful after the rather stark debt they'd suddenly accumulated. They weren't mocking words. After all they never would have found the keypad otherwise. He touched at the keypad a bit but didn't try to punch anything in. Well, there was no penalty for a wrong choice was there? He hesitated, unless entering the wrong code would make it impossible to leave. But if they didn't try they'd never get out, right? Erin found himself paralyzed with fear. While the others were only vaguely aware of the Teiai Group and the debt they would receive he had come face to face with what they could do. "When I looked at the lines over there I couldn't help thinking of directions, though I can't say how that would work." In his mind he was putting arrows on the keypad. The middle was blank, and the eight directions filled in the rest. But that could well be wrong and it didn't make use of the spray can... He grabbed the can of paint from the desk and sprayed a short burst on the wall behind it. They had most of the clues. They just had to work it all together now. He just wanted to know if this can really was just a spray can. Edited by Kaloo, Feb 26 2012, 04:10 PM.
