OOC: CLOSED for Hiro Holland was in the area and wanted a bite to eat. It was already one o clock and she didn't really know the area, so she said she would stop off in the first place she found. But of course...the first place she found was a Maid Cafe. "You've got to be kidding me right?" she sighed. "Well. A promise is a promise." Holland hesitantly walked inside to a world that she had only seen whole surfing the back areas of the internet. It wasn't too busy at all, but it was a little loud because of the rambunctious men in the background. "May I help you?!" came a cheerful woman in a hot pink maid costume. It startled Holland a little bit, but she tried to gather her mind and tried to form sentenced. "I...uh...I...I..." Edited by DramasticStar, Jan 25 2012, 12:12 AM.

"I believe she's here for a bite to eat or perhaps something to drink," Drake Frostbane offered up from his empty table nearby in a friendly tone as he glanced up from the chessboard resting in the center of his table, "Or that would be my guess~" It was only by chance that he had been seated near the entrance and happened to be glancing up just in time to see the fellow student stammering with the waitress and seemingly unable to get any words out. Drake didn't really know what reason there was to be so nervous. Though, again, he was used to being served all the time back in his own world. Perhaps it was something to consider for future interactions with humans. Still, Drake had become quite acquainted with human life in a rather short amount of time; best of all his secret was still safe. Cafe Mahou was supposedly a popular place with the students and so he had decided to check the place out. And thus he sat with his cup of tea and the chessboard he had brought in the center of the table. To onlookers it must have seemed quite strange. The board seemed to use some sort of hologram to project the images of each piece, but unless it had some sort of built in AI then it seemed Drake was merely playing a game against himself. |

Holland looked over as she was saved from the waitress's question. "Ummm...yes...thank you..." And then she glanced down to see the chessboard that sat in front of him and completely disregarded the waitress at that point. Holland walked over and sat in the chair front of the man and stared intently at his chess board as if trying to solve it with her eyes. This was new to her. She had been exposed to military technology and while she had seen holographic things before, never had she seen such a civilian item carried out holographically. She wanted to touch it. To connect to a world she had never seemed to connect to before. But what if she couldn't connect to it like she could everything else? What if she became stuck? Why in public? Her eyes were at this point glazing over as she stared at the board. What was it that enticed her so? And then she came to. "Oh...oh god I'm sorry....." "Why are you apologizing?" Drake asked feeling a bit confused about her reaction as he slowly adjusted his glasses. However, to be fair, Drake had a fairly charismatic personality so someone as socially awkward as this was a bit foreign to him. Still, he seemed to have helped her out by speaking up so he was glad for that. Reaching out slowly, Drake picked up his cup of tea and took a sip before returning it to its spot on the table. The girl certainly seemed interested in the chess board. "Checkmate," Drake mumbled as he moved the remaining Rook on his side on the chessboard. Slowly, letters appeared in the center spelling out the same phrase noting his victory before every piece began to vanish clearing the board. From there, he let his gaze return back to his guest. "Do you play?" he asked in a curious tone before continuing, "Ah, sorry, where are my manners. My name is Drake Frostbane. I'm a student at Hyakuji High; I assume you're a student too..." |

"I'm sorry I just-" she began explaining herself but then the chess board began to move as if magic. It was stunning; amazing even! The fact that something so simple could be turned into something with such complexity with the use of technology. The idea of it was fascinating. Holland felt drawn to it and she reached her hand out as if to touch it...even if just a small touch, but she quickly withdrew her hand and help it close to her. "Ah...I'm sorr- I mean...umm...ahh...I kind of play...A little I guess. I-I'm Holland Albracht. I am a student there...I-I just moved here." She shifted her eyes from him to the chess board. She couldn't stay focused. She wanted to know what made it work! Holland suddenly remembered the disregarded waitress and turned to her bowing lightly. "I'm sorry. Please forgive me for my rudeness." she sat back up and glanced lightly at Drake. "May I have a lemon tea with a small order of-" she glanced at the board behind the waitress and ordered the first thing she saw, "snack cakes." She turned back to Drake and chuckled a little awkwardly. She wasn't used to meeting very many new people. She tended to keep to herself. "Oh! That is...if well...you...you don't mind me sitting here as I...I've so rudely done already..." |

"You don't have to keep apologizing and feel free to sit here; I was getting bored with this thing anyways," Drake reassured her with a laugh, "Well, in any case, it's nice to meet you and welcome to Hyakuji." Alluding to the chess board he was simply referring to the fact that the AI on the toy might have been challenging for the average user, but for him it was a joke. Glancing from the chess board and back to the girl carefully Drake became curious about her own interest in it. "Did you want to try a game on it?" Drake asked in a reassuring tone, "I've just been playing against myself because the game's AI isn't challenging enough." He admitted this fact plain as day with a slow nod of his head. He certainly didn't need another round at this point. Luckily, Holland had come along and that meant he had a distraction for the time being. A part of him thought about asking what her powers was, but then Drake wondered if that was considered rude. He hadn't really been a student at the school long enough to pick up any sort of common behavior on the matter. |

The maid had returned with her Lemon tea and her snack cakes and sat them down in front of her. "Thank you." she nodded lightly and let the waitress scurry off. She smiled lightly and picked up her tea and sipped from it. It was both refreshing and relaxing. Her mother had taught her the "magical" properties of tea. It might not be anything like you'd experience here at Hyakuji...but it sure was magical in its own way. Holland set down her tea as Drake asked her if she wanted to play. She hesitated looking from the board and back to him. "I...I want...I mean...does that mean I have to....I mean-" and she quickly picked up a gooey snack cake, "I can't touch it because I have all of this sticky cake on me! I couldn't risk messing up suck a wonderful thing." she hesitantly laughed hoping he didn't pick up on the fact that she was scared of what might happen if she were to touch the board. She really did want to touch it, but not here. Not when she didn't know what would happen. What if she spazzed? What if her mind became permanently connected to an element of the technology? She shuddered lightly at the thought of it and then realized she was still sitting in front of drake and smiled lightly. |

"Hah, well okay... but if you change your mind then feel free," Drake replied cheerfully as he took another sip of his tea. Holland certainly was timid. It was almost to the point of making it a bit hard to make conversation. However, the path was clear in Drake's mind. He'd just have to take charge of the conversation rather than holding back out of respect. "You know you really don't have to be that nervous," Drake added again in a reassuring tone, "I'm not that dangerous." He was merely teasing, but there was truth in his words and he hoped they hit home with Holland. He couldn't imagine what it must be like to live a life as a person this shy. "So what do you think of Hyakuji thus far?" Drake questioned as he leaned in a little, "Have you already gotten settled in at the school?" |

Holland chuckled lightly at his comment. She knew he wasn't dangerous of course. Well I mean everyone was dangerous to a degree, she was just socially awkward. She stuffed a snack cake in her mouth realizing the reason she came in here was because she was hungry after her stomach gave her an awakening. She swallowed hard and took a sip of tea. She hiccuped lightly and then laughed a little. She was starting to loosen up a bit. "Umm...well...I haven't really gotten to know Hyakuji very well yet...its well...still my first day here. I just got off the train here today from the other side of the country." Holland picked up another snack cake and began nibbling on it. She paused and thought for a second. "I mean from what I've...read...the school is really great. I just...I don't know how much they will be able to help me...but...I guess there's no harm in trying..." she smiled lightly before continuing to nibble on her snack cake again. She looked at the chess board in front of her. "Why do you look at me like that?" she asked herself. |

"Ah I see," Drake nodded with a thoughtful glance, "Well, if you need help with anything or would like a tour of the city I'd be glad to give you one. I'm actually new here myself, but I've got a month or two on you." Drake thought back to his initial arrival in the city. A part of him wondered what happened to that Sword-Girl he had initially made friends with. "And where did you come from?" Drake added leaning a little at the table having his curiosity grow deeper, "That is... if you don't mind talking about it." Drake knew that Hyakuji had some students from within the city itself, but a large majority came from other areas in Japan or even overseas. Drake had managed to pass himself off as coming from somewhere in Europe. Holland seemed to be staring again at the chess board. Drake wondered if she had some affinity for the game or maybe it was the technology held within the toy. That or perhaps she had some bad memory attached to the game. Drake could think of several possible scenarios, but it was far too early to single out the proper one. |

Holland finished her snack cake and took another sip of tea. She smiled lightly and help the warm cup in her hand. "Well...I...I came from the US Military base in Nagasaki. I was born in Germany...but....we moved here when I was three...so...I don't really remember it. I-I'm a military brat." she blushed. She didn't know how he'd react to her being from within the US Military. Some people, particularly the Japanese, weren't too happy with it. "I guess it's kind of embarrassing," she chuckled lightly, staring into her cup of tea letting her finger rub the rim of it lightly. "I guess that's why I'm so....awkward though." she laughed at herself. She set her tea down, almost dropping it, but recovering herself barely. She was flustered now, trying to clean up the small bit she had spilled on the table. She gave up and set her napkin over the stain to conceal it. "So...um....Where...where do yo come from? If that's not asking too much of course." she smiled lightly. She was trying to be a little bit more forward with herself. |

"Nice," Drake answered happily, "I've never been to the US, but I hear it's very unique. Certainly not a situation to be embarrassed about though. It's what makes you, you." It seemed, slowly but surely, Holland was starting to loosen up. She seemed to almost spill her drink, but to avoid making her feel self-conscious about it Drake averted his gaze seemingly scoping out the rest of the room and playing ignorant as if he hadn't noticed the event occur. "I've actually been to Germany before, speaking of it," Drake added preparing to tackle her own question, "I prefer just to say I transferred here from Europe. My family moved around a lot growing up so I've been to almost every country in the region." The lie he always had to tell. Drake just couldn't risk anyone discovering his real identity yet. Someone as high profile as him being present could attract a lot of trouble. "I was a bit reluctant about coming here, to be honest," Drake added feeling rather insightful, "I don't really have any problems with controlling my abilities. But I guess I just want to see how far I can push them. I suppose that's a little ambitious..." |

"Ah it is quite ambitious..."she smiled lightly and happy that he seemed not to notice her spill her tea. "Everyone seems to be so....unique here. Everyone seems so...powerful too though." she said gazing into her tea that sat upon the table. "I got placed in Gym and I don't know how I'm going to hold up at all...I mean...are they allowed to use powers in the gym? If not then I guess I'll be ok since I've had martial arts training...but...I'm not too athletic." she muttered a bit rambling on about herself. "But I guess everything will be ok..." she looked up and smiled again. "Oh my glasses have become fogged..." she laughed and took them off. She cleaned them off with her shirt and placed them back on her face. "Don't get too close to the tea with Glasses!" she laughed lightly. |

"Everyone here is certainly fired up most of the time," Drake admitted with a laugh, "It's a little contagious though. I've started to feel that way too the longer I stick around. Ah but I think you'll be just fine. I've had one of the gym classes already. Powers might come into play, but they keep things safe." Really, there wasn't much bad Drake could single out about the school. A lot of people seemed a bit crazy, but he couldn't fault the faculty for that. Seeing Holland start to clean her glasses with her shirt Drake reached to his side and pulled forth a blue handkerchief and handed it out towards her, "Ah, here." It seemed bad of him to just sit there and watch her suffer with her shirt trying to clean off her glasses when he could help. |

Holland took the handkerchief with thanks and took off her glasses. She cleaned them off, removing the smudges left by her shirt and smiled returning them to her face. She offered back the handkerchief with a smile. "So...they...do use powers...hmmm. I wonder how I'll manage." she chuckled lightly. "What...what about you?" she blushed. "Your powers I mean...like...what...what are your powers....if you...like...like don't mine me asking of course imeaniwouldn'twanttointrude." she finished the last few words in one breath and turned bright red. She looked down at her cup and placed her hands on her tea cup once again. She felt like her powers would be kind of useless in a fight now that she really thought about it. If anything were to ever put her in that situation she would surely loose if she were to go up against anyone with an offensive power. Even a defensive power might be able to overpower her. |
