OOC: Closed for Capitan

It was Holland's first day at Hyakuji and of course, being who she was, couldn't resist checking out the local arcade. The arcade was like a home to her. Not only did she enjoy playing at the Arcade, she also enjoyed scoping out the equipment. Generally, arcades were an easy access to a fun time for Holland.

She was planning to connect herself to one of the games. Her father advised against it, especially in public places and alone, but most people never even messed with her. She would simply take a sheet of paper, write out that the particular game was out of order, pick-lock the back, and connect her mind to the game.

It seemed as if this would be a good location to practice too. Not too many people were there and closing something down unnoticed would be simple. "Why not play a few games before I start the real fun?" She smiled and tried to find her way to Mrs. Packman.

As the girl would find her way to the machine, she would see someone was already playing it. The young man was dressed fairly normally, just a white T-shirt and jeans, hair cut down to his shoulders....There were only 2 odd things with the scene. One, the boy had sharp ears, almost like an elf. The other was that Ms Pac Man was flying across the screen at ludicrous speed.

Wait, wasn't Meglumar an employee at the Arcade? Maybe. Maybe not. Likely not since nothing ever occurred with that so he's just here as a regular teen enjoying a moment of peace. While he had enjoyed the past of this world, finding the lack of technology to be fairly nice, he did miss some important things: His loved ones, Bathing, climate control, and Pacman.

Should the girl keep watching, she'd see that after a few moments the screen was cleared....only for a Killscreen to appear. "....By the gods, not again, it's 3 board earlier..." He grunted out, obviously frustrated as the unwinnable board appeared. Within a few seconds it was over, the boy entering his name into the high score board....which...seemed to be identical to the top 3 scores...

Holland came to Ms. Packman only to see that it had already been taken. Maybe he would move? But then she stood and watched for a bit. He was actually quite good, if not one of the better players out there. After the kill-screen appeared, his high score appeared to reveal that his score was top score in several places.

"Y-your quite good." Holland blushed as she spoke up to him. She normally didn't speak to anyone on her own accord unless it was out of formal basic speaking terms of course. She was interested in playing a game or two with him to see how she'd do against someone who played like she did. Before, no one she had ever met made her satisfied when she played a game of Ms. Packman with them.

"May-maybe we can play a game or...or two?" she blushed again, slightly adverting her gaze.

Meglumar turned his head to see a girl behind him. Not one to be gender biased, he did find it slightly odd a girl was in this section of the arcade. Most were fans of the rhythm based games or dancing games. Still, it wasn't SO out of place that he made any real mental notice of it. Just noting the curious nature of it.

She commented on his skill with the game, before asking if he minded playing a game against her as well, before averting her gaze. A...ha. "This is acceptable." He said, slotting another coin into the machine and stepping aside. He'd played the game more than enough and it would be wise to take a small break.

"After you." He said, giving her the first player position for the game. Ladies first and all.

Holland smiled when he agreed to play a game or two. "Ah, thank you." she smiled and took place at the machine to play the game. It had been a while since she had played Ms. Pacman, but she as sure of herself that she still had the skills. The game loaded up it's music and began with the first board. Holland smiled as she reviewed over the entirety of the board and then began her move.

Down. Left. Down. Left. Up. Left. Down. Right. Up. Right. Left. Up. Left. Down. Up. Left. Up. Down. Left. Right. Down. Right. Up. Left. Right. Up. Left. Down. Right. Down. Right. Up. Left. Right. Up. Right. Down. Left. Cherry. Right. Down. Left. Down. Left. Down. Right. Down. Left. Right. Up. Right. Down. Left.

The board flashed that she had completed the first level. So she had memorized it after all. She laughed a little and turned to the man. Oh...that's right...she didn't know his name....nor had she introduced herself! "Ah! I'm sorry," she blushed. "I'm Holland Albracht." she smiled lightly before turning back to concentrate on her game. The same steps repeated, a few ghost evasions....

Meglumar watched over the game, the girl knowing what she was doing with a raised eyebrow. The methodology for clearing the first stage was almost identical to his own. It wouldn't work later on but it was a solid way of clearing the early stages. He was impressed. She spoke up on the screen transition, stating her name.

"I am Meglumar. Meglumar of th...Meglumar Odai." He said, cutting down on his usual introduction, since, well, family names didn't need the introductions in this world. From her name, it didn't sound as if she was a natural citizen of this nation, so likely she followed the 'western' naming patterns, as it was referred to.

"Your technique is efficient and works well. Am I to presume you play this game often?" He asked, curious.

Holland smiled as she completed the second level with just as much ease as the first. "I-It's nice to meet you..." she turned and bowed lightly. She thought for a second to back when she first started playing packman. "I guess it started out on my father's Atari...and then I just started playing it in the arcade form once I was old enough to go out by myself..." she laughed a little.

The Ms. Packman noise started up again and started running so Holland quickly made her move back to the screen. She started playing again and then turned back to Meglumar. "I haven't played in a really long time though so I might be-" and then she heard the little packman ghosty noise, "-rusty..." Holland sulked lightly. She wasn't used to have gotten a life lost so early in the game.

"Haaa....I guess it's your turn....silly me."

A...ta....ri? What was that? Bah none of his concern. The way she spoke, it sounded as if she had played this game quite often, and growing up with it. He'd been told this game was old, and he could believe it. The game was less...intense than the greater games in the Arcade, most of which were too much for the boy who'd never experienced them growing up.

She made a comment on being rusty at the game, with comedic timing. As soon as she had begun the sentence, she was being boxed in, and by the time she had finished, she was defeated, stepping aside from the machine so that he could approach and take his turn. He nodded in confirmation, starting his run through the game, silent as he worked through the first board, almost like an automaton.

During the break, he finally spoke up. "I have yet to see you within this arcade or the school. Am I to assume you are a new transfer to this place?" He asked, making note of that

Holland rocked back and fourth on her feet watching him play. His play style was almost directly identical to how she played. Not many people in the world actually had a play tactic when it came to Ms. Packman. Many just played for the fun of it and could only get through the first couple of levels. More serious players would learn some strategy, but would never take the time to actually focus and remember patterns. Players like herself, and obviously the person she was conversing with now, remembered the patterns and knew the tactics.

He spoke up during the break and surprised Holland in her deep thought about the game. She almost fell over because she was standing on her heels but she managed to gain her balance with the help of the machine. She blushed a bright red and replied, "Haa...yeah...I-I'm a new transfer...first d-day!"

So it was as he guessed. A new transfer student. "Well then, welcome to Hyakuji." He said, continuing to focus on the game, clearing another board. "What powers do you have? Or are you one of the powerless transfers?" He asked, curious. Most of Hyakuji's students had powers of some kind. There were a few who didn't, of course, but 8 times out of 10, they had some form of a gift.

Holland's face became flushed when he asked about her powers. She had forgotten that the reason she originally came here was to suck herself into a game, but it was too late for that now. She was already talking to someone and sitting down and "sleeping" would no longer be an option.

She hesitated to answer. What would she say? I mean...it wasn't exactly something she could just show..."I....I'm a...technomancer..."she mumbled looking away lightly and pulling at her hair. It's not that she wasn't proud of her power, she was just afraid of it really. There was still a lot that she hadn't done with it and she didn't quite know her limits.

She felt kind of useless with it to be honest. Who actually needed the work of a technomancer? She was too vulnerable to use her power for the military. Once she connected with a piece of equipment she was there until someone moved her or her timed electric buzzer went off. And experimenting with new equipment? It was risky...should anything happen to the machine...a power outage...anything...her mind could become trapped...and what then?

Apologies for the delay, writer's block.

Technomancer, eh?"Aha. I see." He said, continuing his maneuvering through the maze, before deciding it was unfair to hog the game. Deliberately running his Pacman into the wall and letting it get surrounded, he backed away from the machine. "I was unaware that the elemancers considered technology an element now...My girlfriend is a photomancer, the manipulators have some unusual yet potent gifts." He said, completely oblivious to the fact that technology wasn't really an element.

"It is your turn." He said, nodding towards the girl, curious to see how she would do. She played the first board rather well, if not for the early mistake. He was curious, how far could she continue without dying?
