Sakarako was caught at across-roads, watching at Dakota began to catch up with her. The shield was definitely worth saving as it would protect her from any attacks that Dakota might later get. However she was still in the lead and her speed was increasing. One way or the other Sakarako could ride out the duel for a little bit to see what Dakota would do... He heart jumped for a second as Nickle suddenly appeared on the bike's screen. "Oi, I know what you're thinking now! Don't you start getting all comfy just because you've got a lead on Dakota-san. That's not how my Assistant Manager should be thinking." With a small blip, Nickle's face vanished from the screen and as she somewhat lazily wound around the corner coming up, Sakarako knew he was right. "It's go big or don't go at all, right Ryuko-san!?" she said with a new determination in her voice. She lowered herself slightly to be more aerodynamic before reaching a long straight part of the track, where sharks were swimming along either side of race-course. The holographic screens appeared and Sakarako shouted out in excitement as she popped a wheelie and drove through one of the power up screens to get herself a: [result]4&4,d10,0,4&d10[/result] |

Dakota flipped a switch, and her vehicle sped up dramatically, boosting herself further quite a distance.
Now beginning to catch up, she still had quite a ways to go before she'd be along side the assistant manager. Seeing the sharks on the side, she couldn't help but think "I'd sure hate to spin off course here, heh." She sped through yet another hologram, waiting to see what the result was, it ended it's spinning on... [result]8&8,1d10,0,8&1d10[/result] |

Sakarako scowled a little bit, having received possibly what was one of the largest game changing power-ups...again...and finding herself in a position where it would be to her misfortune to use it against Dakota. She was gaining speed, but apparently, so was her opponent. The girl had caught up surprisingly well and was no longer trailing her from a distance. She was getting quite close to being on the assistant manager's tail. Sakarako turned her attention in front of her as the straight track began to do a spiral loop-do-loop, with increasing numbers of sharks appearing on either side. However, at the end up the loop-do-loop, was a chasm. A jump from one track to the next. Sakarako didn't remember this part of the track! It had only been a week since she'd tested it out. When had Nickle found the time to add this onto the system? Well nothing for it. She twisted the throttle on her bike to maximum and readied herself to become airborne, soaring over a school of sharks and towards, "Mermaids!?" A row of them suddenly appeared in front of Sakarako as she flew over to the next track. "Move! You're gonna get-" shattered into a million digital pieces.... Sakarako landed with a jolt onto the next track, sliding to the side out of control for a moment before turning her bike towards the right direction. The mermaid had been a power-up... "I think I'm going to have to have a word with Ryuko-san about keeping me more informed about his system updates." she said with a sigh as she watched her randomizer land on a: [result]4&4,d10,0,4&d10[/result] |

The engine blew smoke again, and refused to speed up. "For the love of! Augh!" Dakota thought "Did the maker of this car outsource production to Acme or something?" Seeing the power up mermaids were power ups, she simply sped right through them, and got a... [result]1&1,1d10,0,1&1d10[/result] |

Three times... Sakarako had gotten a 4, for the third time... This was just getting plain old silly! That damn mermaid had jipped her of a power-up. Regardless, the next set of power-ups could bee seen right around the corner. Sakarako sped towards them, her annoyance growing by the second. "Not a 4. Not a 4. Not a 4. Not a 4!" she said as she blitzed through one of the holograms and claimed a: [result]3&3,d10,0,3&d10[/result] |

It seemed her opponent wasn't having any luck with power ups, though Dakota's luck wasn't all that great either. The power ups she was getting still meant she was trailing her opponent. At this point, all it would take for Sakarako to win would be one more accelerate. Speaking of which, Dakota activated her booster, jetting forward a little more. She was still trailing her opponent though...
Tearing through yet another hologram, the numbers once again whirled, landing on a... [result]2&2,1d10,0,2&1d10[/result] |

Sakarako sighed a breath of relief, glad to have gotten something other than a 4. She knew her luck couldn't have been that bad. Still, she was almost there to the goal. She looked back Dakota, aiming her attack before throwing it and creating another quicksand trap for her opponent so that she could slow her down a bit more. She was getting closer and Sakarako could taste victory. It was just so close... She could see the next set of holograms, rushing towards it and smashing through it to gain herself a: [result]10&10,d10,0,10&d10[/result] |

Dakota was trailing far behind, though she ended up with a fairly good power up. Acting on the boost, she quickly rocketed forward, closing some more of the cap between herself and the assistant manager.
Speeding forward, she smashed through more holograms... [result]5&5,1d10,0,5&1d10[/result] |

Sakarako shielded her eyes as the track suddenly opened up to a long winding coral road, with a large palace gleaming out at the end of it, signifying the end of the race-course. She watched as her number randomizer landed on a 10. She couldn't help smiling a little. She looked back towards Dakota, now trailing her quite closely. "You're not a bad rider Dakota-san, but luck was on my side this time. See you at the finish line." Sakarako then revved her throttle, causing her engine to roar and her bike to slowly begin causing red particles of light to fall in cascades from her bike. A loud voice thenn echoed out over the track, "ACCELERATION!" as Sakarako's bike suddenly rocketed forwards, causing the gap between her and Dakota to become even greater.

"Luck's not on my side, story of my recent life." she muses. She does make it to the finish line, but Sakarako had been there long before she did. "Eh, thanks." she mentions. Edited by Tzauri, Feb 23 2012, 04:27 PM.

Sakarako watched as Dakota came and crossed the finish line. "Don't be too hard on yourself, you just had a bad run, but at the end there, you really had me going." The assistant manager then looked up and shouted out, "Ryuko-san, that's enough right?" Nickle's face then appeared on a large holographic screen. He was clearly happy with what he had seen, "Hai hai Sakarako. Dakota-san did very well I'm impressed. Let me get you both out." Nickle's screen vanished and slowly the world of Atlantis began to fade around them, growing blacker and darker until eventually Dakota would feel herself drifting off into a pleasant sensation of being caught between a dream and being awake. Slowly, she would open her eyes and hear a small hissing noise and the VR pod began to open up. As she got out she would see Sakarako stretching behind her back and Nickle with his hand outstretched and a very sastified grin on his face, "Dakota-san, I'd like to officially welcome you to the Abenobashi Aracde team." |

Dakota got out of the pod, though the half-sleeping sensation made her curious if people who weren't morning people were grouchy after getting out of the pod. She quickly dismissed the question from her mind, before she was told she was on the team. "I am? Awesome!" she mentioned. |
