Dakota had shown up for a job interview at Abenobashi. Most of the funds she'd been drawing on for her needs were exhausted. Thankfully, at this point, she was emotionally sound enough after the cult had taken a sledgehammer... no... a wrecking ball... no still... the frackin' Death Star to her former life. She did want the job, since she figured it'd be fun. She like video games, after all. Working in a business dealing with arcade games would be fun. |

As Dakota entered the arcade, the first thing she would see would be a front desk, where one of Nickle three original employees was stationed. Chio beam brightly as Dakota entered, "Welcome to Abenobashi Arcade, can I help with anything? Do you need coins for the games?" Dakota would not really have a chance to answer as the front desk phone rang, distracting Chio for a moment, long enough for a rather tall man with long onyx hair to appear from the depths of the Arcade. There was little that Nickle did not know about that went on here inside his arcade and even more so when someone was requesting employment. He hadn't gotten a request for employment in some time and as such, was curious to see what this job seeker looked like. Chio spotted her boss, but was unable to really chat due to being on the phone with a parent who wanted to plan a birthday party for their child. With a gentle wink and a thumbs up Chio relaxed and focussed on the task at hand, while Nickle put his hands on his hips and looked down at Dakota. He was after all, a pretty tall man. "So, you're the one asking for a job, right? You said over the phone your name was Dakota right?" |

Dakota inhaled, about to answer that she was here for a job interview. When the phone rang. It was bit annoying, but making even a small show of it would be poor form for a job interview, even at an arcade! It seemed she'd have to wait, it sounded like they were planning something. And Dakota knows how long planning something took. It seemed that the higher ranking person was Nickle, the person running the place. Well, he's the most sensible person to do this right? "Right. I'm Dakota Anthony. You must be Mr.Ryuko, the person in charge of this place." she introduced herself. |

Nickle folded his arms and raised his right eyebrow for a moment, looking over Dakota and starting to try at least gauge what type of person she was. She seemed nice enough, reminding Nickle a bit of how Chizu used to be when she was younger. Looking like she'd been in a few scuffles, having a forward attitude, but still a nice enough person. Satisfied with at least the initial character judgement, Nickle extended a hand, "Its a pleasure to meet you Dakota. Come with me to my office so we discuss a few things." Nickle then turn, unfolding his arms and letting his thumbs slide and hook into his pockets. Nickle lead Dakota through the arcade, letting her look around at some of the newest arcade games. Newer versions of old classics could be seen, namely shooters, racing games, pac-man, ticket games etc "The arcade does pretty good for itself on these classics, but our main source of income are the Virtual Reality pods we keep in the back. They cost more than a couple of tokens, but they're worth the expense." Nickle pointed to a separate room, where Dakota could just see the edge of one of the round pods through the doorway. Before long, they reach the office door where Nickle worked. He opened it and motioned for Dakota to go in first. |

Dakota heard Nickle mention the pods, she smiled, she knew all about them. "I know, I used them before." Dakota mentioned "I've heard all the crap this town's gone through. Hopefully, fate won't toss us a real version of it. Heh." Dakota knew the cost wasn't very cheap to play, but what with her life lately, she needed all the help she could get. Dakota walked into the office, and took a seat on one of the chairs there. So far, so good it seemed. Then again, it's not like she was being interviewed for a job as Fortune 500 company executive, it was for a part time job working at an (admittedly cutting-edge) arcade. So far, so good. |

"Ah, so you've already been here? Well that saves me having to explain some things to you." said Nickle with a smile. He opened his desk draw and after some rummaging, took out some papers and handed them over to Dakota to look at. "This is just a formality for now, but I'd like you to put down your personal details. Name, age, sex, date of birth, you get the idea, just so I can keep everything on record should I choose to employ you." Nickle leaned back in his chair, putting his hands behind his head, "The one thing I like about this arcade, is that even thought its been through hell, its managed to survive all this time." It managed to survive the multiverse shift to Traverse Town when the heartless attacked as well, now that Nickle thought about it. "So, let's talk. Tell me about yourself Dakota-san. You're a student at Hyakuji, right? What made you decide that you would like to work here?" It was all a formality really. Dakota would pick up easily on how to do her job. Plus Nickle hadn't even told her about the perks. |

Dakota quickly started to fill out the basics on the form. The details on the form are actually entirely correct for her new body. She listed her details honestly. Nickle mentioned that the arcade had been through Hell over time. "Heh, well. Gone through Hell you say? Seems like me and the arcade have something in common." she told him. Nickle then asked her about why she wanted to work here. "Yeah, I'm a Hyakuji student. I'm interested in working here because I'm interested in video games. Heh, I know that the job doesn't involve playing them, but I'd figure it'd be fun to, you know, work around them." she told him "I figure that's why most people who work here wanted to work here, right? Heck, I'd assume that's part of the reason you chose to start an arcade over, say, a restaurant." |

Nickle raised his eyebrow again at Dakota's first comment. She used that expression again, about going through hell. It seemed there was something about her past that was still impacting her. Well Nickle wasn't one to pry right away. With Dakota working here the story might come out eventually. When she said the job didn't involve playing the games, Nickle chuckled, "Well I like how you think, but the good news for you is that part of the job is in fact playing the games. The VR Pods are constantly being upgraded and tested, so its a lot easier to have my employees test with me than having people from outside doing it." He wondered if that fact would put a smile on the girl's face, she seemed quite stern and down to brass tacks in her mannerisms. She took a good guess as to why Nickle started the arcade, and while it was a good guess, it wasn't to accurate. "Close. I do like games, in this day and age, very few people don't. However I actually took over the arcade from an elderly couple and got a sponsorship from Engage Inc. the company that makes those VR Pods." Nickle leaned forward, giving Dakota a shrewd smile, "Besides, if the arcade ever falls through, I've been told on several occassions I'm a pretty good cook." Nickle then got a bit more serious, "Basically, your duties here will be on a shift basis and you'll rotate as normal. The duties can range from managing the front desk, to repairing games, acting as a promoter within the store about any upcoming events or playing as a boss in-game against the VR Pod players." Nickle smiled, "How's that tickle you?" |

"Whoa!" she gasped. Nickle's tactic to make Dakota smile was completely effective. "Ok, I've just got to get this job. Come on lady luck... don't fail me like you usually do!" It seemed that her possible future boss was at least friendly. Dakota had... a lot of emotional issues to say the least... and she herself wasn't blind to the fact her life was on currently built on some of the rockiest and unstable foundations, to say the least. Wait, did she say 'repair games'. Crap, a mechanic she was not. "It sounds good to me." she mentioned "I'm guessing the repairs are either rather simple, or I get a manual or something, right?" |

Nickle laughed at Dakota's reaction. She seemed pleased with the new information, which had most likely also given her a new incentive. He didn't mind who worked here, so long as they were respectful, did their duties and what they were told and didn't cost the arcade money excessively during the time they started working and afterwards. He saw her face sink a bit once he mentioned the duty of repairing the games. To her possible dissapointment, Nickle shook his head, "Look, some might be simple, others not so much when we're talking about the VR Pods. However, its not essential that you know right from the start. Only my assistant manager and my other two senior employees know how to fix the majority of games in here." Nickle leaned forward, putting one arm on his desk and giving a thumbs up to Dakota, "It just means you won't get paid as much as them. You can still help out with the other duties and if you put in a bit of overtime to learn how to repair the games, well then maybe I'll trust you enough to pay you to do it while you're working." The electromancer then looked at the form that Dakota was writing on, waiting for her to finish so he could give it a read through. |

Less pay? She could deal with that. Money could only solve so many of her problems at this point, beyond the obvious. "Fair enough." she mentioned. She could probably learn that stuff later. At this point, one more thing to learn wasn't such a big deal. It was down right puny in comparison to the issues with her body she was going through. She finished writing down the details. She then handed the paper back to Nickle. This should be useful to this. "Well, guess it's time to hope for the best." she thought. |

Nickle nodded. Well it looked like she wasn't one to be argumentative, at least from what he could tell. She'd know what to do and how to do it in no time at all and learning to repair the games? Well that would be easy enough if Dakota remained dedicated. Nickle took her application form and read over it carefully, taking in the details. After a minute or so of reading over the document, Nickle placed it on the table. "Very good. You can consider yourself hired. There's just one last little thing that needs doing before you leave here today." Nickle got up from his chair and moved towards the door, indicating for Dakota to follow him. ------------------------------------------------------- Nickle lead Dakota over to the VR Room, where the pods were stored. What had started as only a handful of pods had no increased to 50 capsules, with well over half of them already being filled by occupants who were enjoying their various virtual reality experiences. Nickle then indicated to a girl with red hair, standing near two pods, "This is my assistant manager Sakarako. She's going to be giving you your initiation." Sakarako stepped forward and took Dakota by the hand smiling, "It's great to have another girl working here." she said sweetly, "We're just gonna play a little game. Ryuko-san has been tweaking a new line of games and we're ready to start with some testing." She released Dakota, after having dragged her in front of one of the empty pods, "What kind of games do you like?" asked the red-haired assistant manager, as he pressed a button that caused the pod to hiss for a moment, before the hydraulics slowly opened it up. |

Dakota smiled when she said she was hired. It seemed things were beginning to turn around for her, between Yukiko and the job. At that point, Nickle seemed to introduce her "Thanks, I'm pretty happy to be here. I'm Dakota." she mentioned. "The whole 'another girl' thing, on the other hand..." she thought. She managed to keep her thoughts and her face separate though. When Sakarako asked her about games, she shrugged "I'm fairly open about the types. Shooters, rpgs, adventure, any really." she told her, then stepped into the pod, when it was ready. "I'm not sure what counts as an initiation here... But I'm half suspicious that it involves sticking me in the hardest difficulty on the hardest game, and seeing how long I last." she chuckled. |

Nickle laughed loudly when Dakota took a guess as to what they'd be having her do for initiation. "No, no, it's nothing like that. I'm not that heartless to my employees!" he then walked over to the pod adjacent to the one Dakota was in, opening it up and setting up the program protocols. "However it is a bit of a fact that Sakarako here is ruthless when she plays and doesn't like to lose. So you'll be going head to head with her." The girl with red hair grin broadly, a cocktail of happiness and malice was being stirred on her face. She stepped inside the second pod as Nickle moved to stand in front of them both. "We'll start you off on an easier game, something that's quick so that we don't need to drag out an possible beatdowns that one person would have on the other." Nickle gave Sakarako a look, ensuring that she was listening to what he was actually saying and a annoyed huff was all Nickle needed to hear to know he could go ahead and close the pods. As the doors began to close, Nickle spoke one last time, "Your brain may feel a bit....ticklish." With the doors shut, Dakota would find herself in complete darkness, except for a small screen above her that was telling her to close her eyes. As the seconds went by, Dakota would almost feel a slight tingle in her hair and then a cold sensation around her wrists, ankles and back of her head as several metal rings and plates gently touched her skin. Then the sensation that Nickle spoke about would start occuring. Like someone was tickling the inside of her head with something fluffy. She'd feel herself awake but falling asleep and odd combination and one that anyone would protest and start to fight against. However, before she knew it, she'd find herself shooting through a tube of multicoloured light at a rapid pace, brilliant flashes of light and code everywhere. Until....she was standing? "Yo! Welcome to the Select Screen!" If Dakota turned around anywhere, she'd find that she was in space! Or rather and endless void with countless stars while standing on a simple white platform. In front of her stood Sakarako clad in a skintight suit that seemed to be made entirely out of red code fragments and data. Dakota herself would be in a similar one, although more towards a colour of her choosing. "Don't worry about the outfit, you can materialize a new one later one. The previous Select Screen had you stuck in these floating balls of data in your birthday suit." |

She'd gone through the process of entering into the games before, but it still amazed her all the same... and it was still slightly creepy. Granted, Dakota had been through enough crap to where she was hardly phased by it. It seemed she was stuck in skintight black suit made of data. She was slightly embarrassed by it though. It seemed that it had been worse, floating around in a data sphere without clothes. That sounded just plain creepy and wrong. Still, she was told she could change it later. "Would have been helpful to know when 'Hyakuji of the Dead' stuck me in a Jill Valentine getup. Ehehe." she replied "Well, let's see what we got." She wondered what they were going to play.
