To be honest, this request was... better than Tsubame can ever ask for. Yes, she has all the reasons, if she want to, to try and get out of helping Gail to change, in fear that she may end up getting killed in the changing room if they are alone in there. However, that will be breaking Tsu-chan's characteristics, and that would not be favorable. After all, the all high-spirited and trouble loving Tsu-chan will never ever pass up such a chance to prank or create nice, tiny troubles to amuse herself if she was not shot down since the first moment.

With a grin on her face, Tsubame opens the door to the changing room, and brings out a uniform for Gail from her own closet. Given that Gail is about 3 inches taller than she is, the shirt may rile up a little more on the poor girl, but it would seem that their build is similar except for that- she'd fit in no problem.

Of course, Tsubame would not have predicted the dilemma that Gail may have.

"This is my spare, so feel free to use this~" The girl hands over the maid outfit, and leaves the locker open. "If you need to store anything, you can put it in here for now until you leave~" Her innocent smile covers all, if any, intentions that she has in her mind.

Well, the fact that Gail has requested to change by herself has proved one point, at least. She is not really out for her, if she really is someone who is trying to hunt for her life.

... Maybe it is all because Tsubame was on the edge. After that incident after work where she was injured, she has been on a very, very high alert, to the point where, sometimes, she would almost break her facade at the tiniest things.

She closes her eyes, and pushes those thoughts out of her mind. She needs to learn not to freak out about every other new person she meets, too. She has a handful already with her old ones.

And that simply makes her think of the incident with J over Christmas.

... She was hoping not to recall it.

"Let me know if you have any difficulty, neh~?" The girl skips out of the changing room, and closes the door behind her so that Gail can change. She exhales softly.

She was hoping not to recall whatever happened during Christmas, but somehow, just somehow, she related things back to him again, and back to that night again. And, even though it has been a while, it still hurts inside.

She was hoping that slaving away at work would make her forget, too. But nope. She still recalled.

"Are you done~?" After the a bit, the girl voices.

Gail nodded, acknowledging the outfit and stepping into the changing room. She listened intently to every word that Tsu said, memorizing their entire conversation. She had difficulty catching emotional responses, like relief or anxiety, but she had no problem with words - so the words were what she focused on. Unless Tsu had literally said "I am relived that I do not have to enter the room with you", Gail would never have noticed anything, no matter how obvious the hints were.

The moment she was alone in the changing room, she began to think. What to do about the daggers? One option was to Shift them away to the Astral Plane - she doubted that anyone would find them there, and she'd be able to come back for them later. But Tsu was still nearby. Shifting an object caused a loud, and very distinct noise that she would undoubtedly hear, and she didn't want to incur suspicion. If Tsu asked what the noise had been, she would have no alternate explanation.

She considered leaving them in the changing room, but there was no easy hiding place. And again, Tsu was still just outside - she would hear if Gail began dismounting the mirror or moving one of the ceiling tiles. If she came in while Gail was hiding the daggers, she would likely see them. And if that happened, Gail would have no choice but to immediately kill her and hide the body.

She didn't want to do that. Not so much because of jeopardizing the mission, but because Tsu seemed to be one of Seth's friends. Seth would probably be sad if she died.

But, it would seem that she wouldn't have to hide them under her clothes after all. Thankfully, she had been given a locker to store her belongings...When she exited the changing room, she predicted that Tsu may perform some kind of inspection to ensure that she had donned the outfit properly. It was likely that she would find the daggers if they were hidden under the uniform. The best thing to do was to put them here.

She took off her shirt in front of the mirror, revealing a plain grey sports bra and six leather straps, one around each wrist, and two around each forearm. In each strap was a ring of three metal daggers. Gail silently removed each strap, laying them down on the bench-like platform by the wall.

That was 18 of the daggers. There were still three other rings around her thighs - one on her left leg, and two on her right. Carefully removing those as well, she put them with the others. That made 27. There was only one more concealed weapon.

The 28th dagger was hidden inside of her right boot. More accurately, within the sole of the shoe, underneath the chamber for the foot. The dagger was drawn with a flick of the heel, where it emerged from the bottom of the shoe like a switchblade. She decided to leave it there, instead of removing it. It was hidden well enough.

She took the 9 rings of daggers and wrapped them in her shirt, placing it in the locker first. After that followed her pants, and finally, her boots. From here, she just had to hope that no one decided to look through her things. Closing the locker door, she considered it the best she could do.

"Are you done~?"

Tsu's voice reminded Gail that she was taking a bit too long. She still hadn't even started putting on the uniform.

"I am doing fine."

Moving a bit faster, she looked at each piece of the uniform as though decoding a puzzle. She had already seen and memorized Tsu's clothing, which would allow her to put on the outermost pieces of the uniform correctly, but with the bottom layers, she would have to think harder.

The bottom-most layer, at least what she thought was, seemed to be a plain blue dress. Along with it were multiple frills and ribbons, along with a large apron. It was difficult to tell which part went where seeing it all laid out, but she had a tactic that she knew would work. She would just have to try every piece in every position until it matched what she had seen Tsu wearing perfectly.

After about 20 minutes, Gail finally emerged from the changing room.

Posted Image
"Have I donned the outfit correctly?"

Her bland face seemed at odds with the cheerful frills and ribbons of the costume, but she would never have been able to tell. She wasn't sure what functional purpose it served, but she was familiar with the concept of having an outfit for a job. After all, she rarely went to kill someone in casual clothes, unless it was on short notice. She had a suit with a mask that she would put on instead. So this was kind of like that, except instead of a suit and mask, it was a frilly dress, and instead of murdering people, she served them tea.

Of course, the purpose of the suit and mask was to preserve her identity. She wasn't sure what secrets this outfit held in terms of aiding her in being a servant. But she trusted that Tsu would show her how to properly make use of it.

Despite the worries that are still hanging in Tsubame's mind, the look of the cold, emotionless girl has definitely brought an involuntary curl up on her lips. So it does seem that the girl is fit in this uniform, after all.

… Of course, if Tsubame had known about what went through Gail's mind earlier on when she was alone in the changing room, that's another story.

"Perfect~" The girl did not really touch Gail, and goes in rounds around Gail like a bee around a flower instead, and make nods here and there as she take a good look at the details of the uniform. "Gail-nyan is cute~~"

… And here goes the Tsu-chan special - making up weird cute nicknames again. Well, not sure about the cute part, but definitely weird.

Though, truth be told, Tsubame has not expected the girl to go so well with the uniform. It adds a strange element to the uniform itself, the girl's bland expression. An element that the cafe is currently in lacking, actually, the "kuu-chara" element. Well, whether the girl really is "kuu" to begin with, Tsubame knows not, and cares not either, but it is indeed something nice to have around.

After all, it'd be interesting~

"Now now, let's go and see how our Goshijinsama like it~" After finally stopping behind Gail, the girl proceeds to push Gail out from where they were at- behind the counter, towards where Seth would have been sitting and probably impatiently waiting for.

After all, it does seem to Tsubame that while Gail may not be share a similar relationship with Seth as Hana, Gail does treasure Seth, to a certain extend.

The girl does look up to Seth and seeks him out for suggestions, no?

Well. Alright, maybe a liiiiittle bit impatient, but only because he wanted to see how funny the bland girl would look like in a cheery and frilly maid outfit. The boy snickered to himself at the image that popped in his head as he waited. Yes, he's just expecting to be a troll to the poor girl. When the two arrived however, "Oh, you're done-"

He regretted having that train of thought in his head. In fact, said train going at five hundred miles per hour probably crashed into a wall that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. The image of the real Gail in a maid costume had a completely different impact on him than the one in his head. He didn't think the girl would look so well in that costume. In a weird way. BUT IT'S GOOD! Good in a weird- I mean, weird in a good way! No wait, NOT WEIRD! Just... good. Yeah, good. I mean... it's a strange combination that's for sure, Gail and a maid uniform, but still. "Can I have her all for myself?"

WRONG.

"Aa--uh... I mean... it... it looks good, yersh," A hasty reply, a hasty thumbs up and a smile that obviously looked like he's trying his best to act cool. "It looks perfect on you. You'll be a great maid," Probably not the most normal of answer, but if it makes him mess up his lines like that then it should be good, right?

Poor girl, ending up with someone like him.

It was difficult to tell, even for Seth, but hearing his response actually made Gail happy. Of course, her face was the same as it always was. She wasn't even used to feeling happiness, let alone showing it.

...After all, it was a feeling that she had never known before she met Seth.

"How do I proceed from here?" Her question was completely on-point, as she always was. Gail was not one for distractions - Seth wanted her to be a maid, so she would accomplish that goal no matter what, even if she didn't actually know how to be a maid at all. She was perhaps the only person in Hyakuji who could be so determined, while simultaneously being so unenthusiastic.

She knew that it involved being a servant, which she was more than used to. But she could also tell that there were various facets of it that she could not fathom - for instance, the purpose of the uniform. As far as she could tell, it served no objective purpose. It certainly wasn't armor.

She wasn't sure, but she thought that she was a 'maid' now...Tsu had said that she would 'try being a maid' and then asked her to wear this garment. So it followed, logically, that wearing the uniform somehow made her a 'maid'. But she doubted it was that simple. What was next?

While Gail can let that slide, how would the devious little prankster called Tsubame let the horribly thought-out comment slide away just like that?

No. Not in a million years. Especially not when Hana is involved.

God damn it Hana.

"Can I have her all for myself~?" With a cheshire cat's smile on, Tsubame teasingly mimics the words of Seth, and giggles a little as she glances at Gail.

"Silly Goshijinsama~" She is plotting, whether Gail notices it in her eyes or not. "Why, of course, if this is Goshijinsama's wish~"

Without further ado, Tsubame pushes Gail a little forward, and hands over a menu from the counter to Gail, "Normally, as a maid serving in this cafe, we are to serve all the customers who come in, all our masters, equally, whole-heartedly and with all in our power, giving them a comfortable time and place to stay and relax. And to separate us who aims to serve and those who aim to be served apart, we wear this uniform."

"We usually begin by placing our masters in a table, serving them a cup of clear water, then serve them a menu to see what they would want for the day. I am sure you have noticed what I have done earlier on when I brought you in already, right~?" And there begin Tsubame's lecture. Everything seems normal so far~

"Given that it is your first day, and a Master have already asked for you all for himself, why don't you go give this a try~" And, again, a glance of prank and a tease of smirk appears subtly on Tsubame's expression. "Just for today, would you serve our Seth-sama here with everything you have~?"

As if the tease was not quite enough, the girl just had to add something.

"After all, the master did say that he wants you~?"

"Goddammit Tsu-chan~" That was the thought that hovered across his mind as he kept a neutral and undisturbed smile on his face, enduring the endless subtle teasing the girl's tossing at him like a landslide. And, despite how much he's silently cherishing this moment of having his own personal maid for the day (and Gail at that, darn she looks so cute), he couldn't help but feel depressingly guilty at the fact that he was the reason the poor girl's just being taken advantage of at the moment. Even if she doesn't realize it at all. Wait, that only made it sound worse...

Dear god, what have he done... Of all the part-time jobs he could have introduced her to, he had to pick this one...

It was partly to fulfill his hidden guilty pleasure. Well, he's got it, but now he's just feeling guilty.

Poor girl, ending up with someone like--wait, we said that before.

Gail nodded silently to Tsu, seeming to understand. As long as she had an example to work with, she could achieve results simply by mimicking it exactly, even if she didn't understand the core concepts. She ran over Tsu's introduction in her mind, preparing herself for her mission. She was determined to succeed at being a maid or die trying.

She was a bit surprised that the uniform served only for her to be recognized as a maid. It didn't really help her perform maid tasks at all, it seemed, but was still required in order to 'be a maid'. One of the many things she simply would never understand. But she would go along with it if it was Seth's wish.

"Hurm...Well, she sure is...cold. You really have poor taste in women! Robyn is cold, Gail is cold, and so is this one. Nice girls are better...Especially ones that are eager to please! The cold ones like Chetri are frustrating women that only bring you suffering."

Oliver's words from that day were still fresh in her mind. Of course, he had no idea that she had been there when he said that, and probably never would. But she had taken those words to heart nonetheless. She still wasn't quite sure what he had meant by 'cold'...She remembered that he had defined 'hot' as being physically attractive in some manner. Was 'cold', being the opposite of 'hot', a description of being unattractive?

She wasn't sure what she could do about that. She didn't really fully understand the problem from the beginning...but she knew what 'eager to please' meant. That was something she felt like she could do, and moreover, it was something that Seth had asked of her directly. So she decided that she would accept and try her best.

She picked up what had previously been her own menu and handed it to Seth, even though he already had one. Now armed with two menus, perhaps Seth would be twice as proficient in making an order. Staring directly at Seth, she said in her usual voice, "What is your desire, Master Seth?"

You know what, screw guilt. He's in a bliss right now. Who would have thought that one day he would have such an attractive maid so eager to serve and please him. The boy simply stared at her for a while with a warm smile and misty eyes, as though he was in a trance, with some strange glittering and bubbly flowery backdrop appearing behind him to compliment his contentedness. Aah, Gail~ You are a godsend~ So clueless and so adorable~

"You sure are having the time of your life here, Master~"

It was a shockingly familiar voice that used the same teasing tone as Tsubame. He wouldn't have cared anymore if it was Tsubame, but it just HAD to be HER. The little green and white silver-haired monster that has been making his life miserable all this time! "YOUMA!!!" The boy was severely agitated, fell of his seat and crashed on the floor, attracting curious stares from everyone around the cafe. Bliss begone, now he's got the polar opposite of Gail to deal with. "Youma, what... what are you doing here?!"

"I got lost,"

Duh, of course she did. He had to refrain from facepalming when he heard that. Giving a groan of pain and exasperation the boy got back to his seat. Sheesh, this girl... does she always have to interrupt him in his sweet time here? "Alright, you know what I'm doing, now go home. Shoo,"

"No way, you're treating me!" The half-phantom said cheerfully without a care of the current atmosphere, hopping past him and the two maids and settling himself on the seat opposite to him. "Two omurice, please!"

Headdesk. Why now... why.......

"You sure are having the time of your life here, Master~"

Tsubame turns to the source of the voice in a slight confusion during her amusement of seeing Seth stuck in between his "what-ought-to-do" and his guilty pleasure. Well, at this point, with all the pretty flowers and bubbly shoujo background behind him? He's probably have given up his struggle. Well, at least, that's until the voice is heard.

"… Alright, you know what I'm doing, now go home. Shoo… "

The floramancer couldn't help but to muse a little more. So it seems that this girl- Youma- is someone of importance to Seth. Someone with a feeling of… yeah, someone with a feeling of a rather "annoying" little sister. Well, something like that, or that Youma is also one of those who chases after Seth, and actually have been trying to do so for quite a while now. But judging from what she saw…?

Oh the amusement~

"Yes ma'am~ Two Omurice is it~?" Tsubame takes down the order in her notepad, seeming to have "slight difficulty" in doing so, as she tries to take the order down with a menu clipped under her upper arm. "… Two…. Omu…rice~"

"Would you like anything written on it, Goshijinsama~?" She then turns towards Seth again, with the same ol' bright grin on her face. "Such as, I love you Master~" She takes her menu from under her upper arm, and put it aside on the counter behind them. "Of couse, Gail-nyan will be writing it~"

… Just great.

Gail stood silently, awaiting Seth's order. He certainly looked strange...there were bubbles floating around him and the background seemed different around his general location. She had never really seen him like this before. He didn't seem to be in danger, though, so she just stood idly watching him.

Eventually, his trance was broken by Youma. This would be their second meeting...or more accurately, Youma's second meeting, and Gail's third. She had first seen Youma in Astral Form, when observing Seth.

"I am Seth's maid today. I am not to take orders from anyone else."

If she had understood correctly, Seth had specifically asked that she serve him and only him. Tsu explained that in general it was abnormal for maids, but that for today, it was fine. She intended to hold to that - after all, it was Seth who had asked her to come here from the beginning.

Seeing that Tsu was taking Youma's order, she listened to her request. At first, she was confused - Seth had described love as a feeling, and Oliver had described it as a process. But the way Tsu said the words 'I love you' implied that the word 'love' was a verb - an action. This contradicted her prior knowledge.

...It seemed like everyone who told her about love had a different explanation for it. Was there even an objective definition of it?

Or did what it was really change depending on who you were...?

She turned to Tsu for a moment, listening to her request. Writing, by itself, was not a difficult task, but..."I do not know how to spell the word 'love'." She said bluntly, as though it were nothing serious.

Uh. Okay, as much as he ha come to always expect the unexpected from Gail, this is yet another thing he just would never come to expect no matter what. It's... okay, simple problem, simple solution... just teach her how to spell the word 'love'. "Uh... okay, you spell 'love' with an OW!"

...No, I'm pretty sure you do not spell the word 'love' with the syllable 'ow'.

That's not it, this ghastly half-phantom here just kicked him in the shin! Goddammit, what the hell is wrong with her, hasn't she done enough trouble for today?! And why is she shaking her head? What's with that exasperated souding sigh that sounded like she lost hope for him?! And now she's grinning like she has some devious plan she wants to execute right at this moment! God this girl is so suspicous...

"Say, why don't you go to the kitchen and teach Gail how to write 'love' intead?" The green and white girl said in a sickly sweet voice that could easily rival Tsu's own, and that devious smirk wasn't helping matter much. "Besides, isn't personal mentoring the best kind of mentoring?"

Of course, the boy didn't get it. "Ha? Why should I do OW!" He swore his leg might have been broken at the moment. Though it was probably much less worse than the look she was giving him, which could easily be translated as "Go now or I will kill you~"

He chickened out. "A-alright, I get it, I'm going, sheesh..." Seth muttered in defeat as he got off from his seat. "Come on, Gail," Seriously, what the hell does that girl have in mind...

Hurm. But come to think of it, does he really want to reject that idea outright?

Meanwhile, unnoticed by Seth and hopefully Gail, Youma gave Tsubame a wink. Yep, she definitely had something planned.

Gail nodded in understanding. It seemed that love was spelled with an ow. It was actually a much simpler word to spell than she had imagined. Although at this point, there was another problem. "How do you write an 'ow'?" She asked curiously.

It seemed like Seth wanted to teach her directly, which was fine. She nodded and turned around, following Seth out of the room, leaving Tsu and Youma alone together.

There is conspiracy in the air.

Originally, you would see Tsubame began to want to complain about Seth taking her job, but before her complains even rolled out of her tongue, the lightning has already been stolen by Youma kicking the poor guy's shin. Of course, it takes a bit for Tsubame to hold in her tiny little snicker that she was about to let out upon their interaction.

So she's not the only person who seem to like seeing Seth in a fluffy misery, eh?

Wait, what? She enjoys seeing others in misery? That's insane!

… Com'on, everyone should know this by now.

"Hai hai~ One Master and maid for Kitchen-Interaction special service~" As if it is not blatant enough that Seth is going to the backstage of the cafe with Gail, Tsubame just had to announce it to the world. Well, she was "supposed" to, so….

After they both left, Tsubame looks at Youma with the cat grin, and like a tiny, mischievous cat, the girl approaches Youma carefully, and quietly.

"May Tsu ask, what is Ojousama's wish?" As if waiting for Youma's instruction, she asks.

"Mhmm... I would like... one free uninterrupted show of the maid cafe's behind the scene, if that's alright~" The girl replied in a sly sweet voice, giving a small huff of amusement as she watched the two leave towards the kitchen.

Hurm hurm, today's gonna be so much fun~

~~And somewhere in the kitchen~~

He had to give credit to the store owner though, the kitchen looks awesome. They're fully equipped with shits and stuff that could easily satisfy the needs of the best of cooks around. But we're not here to admire the marvel of a complete kitchen. We're here to teach someone how to spell the word 'love'.

Which... really shouldn't be that much of a trouble now is it? I mean... it's not like he's gonna teach a pre-schooler, and Gail here learns fast. There's really no reason to even bother to think about it too much. So why the hell is he thinking too much about it?! Bah... goddammit Youma and to a lesser extent Tsubame... He felt partially stupid actually going to the kitchen just to teach Gail how to spell a single word. But... wait, then does that mean she doesn't even know how to spell 'Master Seth'? That's inconceivable, she should at least know how to spell that two words!

...

Snap out from your delusion man... The boy shook his head, taking a squeeze bottle of ketchup and a plate. Hopefully Gail's still there following him. "Alright... now pay attention, Tsu said earlier about writing something on omurice," The boy paused for a moment before continuing, "You know, fried rice wrapped in omelet... uh... I guess I can make it after this... But anyway yeah, you write stuff on it with this," He handed her the bottle of ketchup as he took another one from somewhere. "Spell it with the letter L... O... V... E," With each word he traced the nozzle of the ketchup on a spare plate, lightly squeezing the bottle as he wrote out the word. Well. That wasn't so bad. Funny of him to make such a big deal of it, Hah-hah!

Hah...

...

"Now you try it," He said, shoving another plate at her.
