"You need a job," ~~~~~ It was a single sentence that prompted their appearance here in the first place. The maid cafe isn't a place he would ever frequent, at least, not intentionally as of far. However today he came here with a purpose. He came here with a girl, and he's helping her get a job. Yea, you can't really trust Gail to be able to get a job by herself. And... kind of surprising how quickly she accepted his suggestion the moment he mentioned the maid cafe is owned by the Supernatural Studies teacher, Hiro Tsukasa. ...He still can't shake off this cold feeling whenever he enters this place though. Granted, his history with the employees of the cafe... wasn't entirely good. "Excuse me? We're here looking for a job~" He sounded fairly cheerful despite earlier comment about the cold feeling he was getting from a couple of the workers, waving at one of them to get their attention. |

"I have a job for you." Whoever was on the other side of the telephone was using a voice modulator, and while she didn't know how to, Gail figured that if she had tried to trace the caller, it would fail. They were going through a great deal of trouble to conceal their identity. "I don't accept anonymous requests." She gave a simple, straightforward answer. The only way she could guarantee payment for her work was if the client could be held accountable. And in this business, the idea of trusting someone on their word was laughable. "I did not think that you would trust me." A distorted chuckle through the voice modulator. "But even so - your asking price is 2,000,000 Yen, correct?" Gail stayed on the line, but she didn't understand what the person was saying. They acknowledged both that she did not accept anonymous requests, and that they had no intention of revealing their identity. And yet, they still wanted to move on to the issue of payment. "That is correct." She decided to humor them. A decision that proved very beneficial. "We have already wired 4,000,000 Yen to your account - twice your asking price, as advance payment. Of course, you'll receive another 4,000,000 Yen upon...completion." Even through the voice modulator, Gail could imagine the confident smile on the other person's face. "...Already have? And if I refuse?" "I don't think you will." They were right. 8 Million Yen - half in advance - was the best offer she had received in her career. Even if they bailed on the second half, the 4 million was more than enough for a single assassination. Then, only one question remained. "Who is my target?" She heard the stacking of papers from the other side of the line. "A magus. Hiro Tsukasa. He works at a school in this country - one you will have to infiltrate." The voice continued before Gail could respond. "All of the necessary paperwork has been...taken care of. We'll be sending you all of the identification you'll need shortly. All you have to do is attend." Whoever they were, they were definitely prepared. Before even contacting her, they had already deposited money in her account, dug up her background, and forged the documents she would need. Usually, Gail felt like she was the one in control - her client paid on pain of death. But this time, she was already caught in another's flow. "...Very well. The contract is signed." Gail looked around the building, seeing it through her real eyes for the first time. She had seen this place before while trailing Tsukasa in Astral Form, but she could never figure out exactly what it was. It seemed similar to a restaurant, but all of the workers wore these strange, frilly outfits. Now that she was actually here in her body, she could perhaps shed some light on this mysterious...mystery. The truth was, she didn't really need a job. In fact, she already had one. But she couldn't exactly tell Seth that. But this wasn't bad, either...if her target was here as well, there would be more opportunity to observe him - and perhaps, set up a chance to take action. Seth, at least, seemed to be familiar with this place. She still remembered when they had first met, and he had taken her to the arcade. She had been gripping his sleeve like a lost kitten. It was only now that she realized that she could really walk alongside him. Perhaps...she was making progress. But was it towards the right goal? |

There's someone here already. Wait, this early? The store hasn't even open for that long! "Irrashaimase Goshijinsama~" One of the few maids around the restaurant hurries and rushes to the door, opens the door to the Mahou Cafe, and invites the two people in. However, when the two people was invited into the cafe, there is a shocked expression on this greeter's face. This should also invite a shocked expression on that of Seth, too. Yes, the maid is no other than the infamous roommate of Seth's... let's say acquaintance for now, Tsubame Hoshino. "Oooooooh Seth-sama~ You're early~!" Slightly overly welcoming, Tsubame proceeds to grab Seth's hand and drags him in, sorta... well, ignoring the girl behind her. "What, did you miss Tsu so much that you came and visit her at work~?" Today is a relatively normal day. Really. First day of actual business after the New Years holidays, and one of those ordinary days starting with waking up in the same room as that stupid Hana of a roommate. Then, getting showered, dressed up, and to work. Class doesn't start for another day or two, so thank god she can still get away from that sickening room for both work and Zodiac. But when class starts... UGH. Maybe the mentality of messing with Hana's life because of Tsubame's strong dislike has already stemmed its root so deeply, that her day has changed for the MUCH better when she saw Hana's potential prey of love, Seth, comes into the scene. It didn't take a fool to figure out that Hana has a romance affection to Seth, regardless of what basis it is on, and that Seth is the person to go to if Tsubame wants to get Hana under control. Precisely because of that, it also means that if Tsubame wants to piss Hana off to no end, it is to be "super friendly" to Seth. And to actually make it normal feeling to Seth, or to keep him oblivious, continuously, is to do it whenever, even if she doesn't see Hana on the site. But then... "Ara? Another girl?" Tsubame looks beyond Seth, and sees an unfamiliar looking girl behind him. She turns to Seth again, a cheshire cat's smirk appears on her face, as she elbows Seth a little, and says more quietly, "Not bad, Seth-sama~" "Now now, please come in too~" The girl proceeds to bring Seth and the unfamiliar girl to one of the two seats table in her area, and sits them down. "What'd Seth-sama and the pretty Ojousama here want today~?" With a mysterious grin, the girl lays down the menu, and continues to look at the girl, rather interested, as if she has found some victims that she can prey upon for some pranks and such. The girl, obviously, either didn't hear what Seth said, or ignored it purposely. |

"Yeah... you totally didn't listen to a word I said..." The boy muttered exasperatedly, though he decided to just mull it over. It was probably lucky for Tsubame that he didn't suspect her even once for the little episode back at the dorm, whether it being her flawless acting skill or he's just too nice for his own good. Whichever. Maybe both. Ah well. He's not here for anything no thanks to his financial crisis, but despite that he picked up the menu and skimmed through it for the... most expensive one they have. Just doing his job as a customer. Truly."I'll take this one," He said, pointing to a certain unquestionably huge sundae before snapping the menu shut and turning his attention to Gail. "And for the pretty Ojousama here..." He said, resting his arms on the table, smiling at her briefly before turning to Tsubame. "She'll be having a part-time job here. Is that alright?" |

Gail was reading the menu intensely, as though trying to memorize it. When Seth had taken her to a restaurant for the first time, she couldn't even read the menu there. Now she at least knew what it was, but there were so many choices that she wasn't really sure what to order. She was used to Seth buying food for her. And of course, before she met Seth, she wasn't even used to being able to decide what to eat. For someone who had been robbed of her will at birth, the ability to make choices was more frightening than relieving. It would have been easy to just order the same thing as Seth, but she wasn't actually sure what he had bought. He hadn't said it out loud and she couldn't see where he had pointed on the menu from the other side of the table. But there was another option, of course. Putting the menu aside, Gail asked, "Seth, can we share your food?" It didn't seem all that unreasonable in Gail's mind - they had given each other food before. Seth bought things to eat for her all the time. It's not like this would be any different, would it? |

"Certainly," Is the standard answer that Tsubame gives to Seth, and she quickly puts the order onto her notepad. There is a mysterious smirk within Tsubame's eyes when she hears the comment that the pal that Seth brought to the site made, as if she was teasing Seth that he is such a playboy- and indeed, she is implying that, rather evidently, too. However, before she could even say anything to tease, Seth has cut right into business, and told her that this girl needs a part-time job here. The sweet smile on the girl saw a little stiffness within, then dissolves a little away, as she takes a more serious look at the girl more closely. Who is this woman? Lesse, white hair, green eyes, bland expression, quiet, seemingly socially-inept, and, for some reason, has a weird aura around her. No. Not Yuri kind of Aura. Just… Well, yeah. Puppet like. Is she the kuu type? A little more than that, right? Whatever. If this is Seth that is asking her, she may as well put some effort into it. After all, the more favors that Seth ask of her and she fulfills, the more in debt Seth is to her. It's a nice thing to have against her roommate. "Part-time, is it?" The business-seeming side of Tsubame fades a little, and the cheerful smile appears again. "Not sure if Tenchou-sama is still hiring, but it doesn't hurt to try~ After all, we do lack a kuudere character here in the cafe." Tsubame begins to use some of the more… well, 2 Dimension based terms, regardless of whether Seth and Gail understands it or not. "Now now, Ojousama, may Tsu-chan inquire about your name, age, and your relationship with Seth-sama here~?" The mysterious, prankster styled smile appears on Tsubame's face again, as she asks about Gail. This is part of the necessary to actually find out more about the girl, but also, well, maybe there is just something more to piss Hana off with. After all, she doesn't go back into the room all that more often after she has pissed Hana off so badly on Christmas Eve, that even if she get Hana on the edge, she won't get penalized by it on a daily basis~ |

Gail was a little confused. While she certainly had experience with employment and employers, her clients very rarely asked for personal information. The thought that they might ask for things like her name hadn't even entered her mind. She blinked for a moment or two before deciding to respond. "My name is Gail." She said simply, "I have been alive for 16 years, 11 months, 28 days, 4 hours, 53 minutes, and 27 seconds. Approximately." Objective questions were easy for her to answer. But her relationship with Seth was a tougher question...just what was her relationship with Seth? She had been given different answers by different people. Oliver called her his girlfriend, but he denied it...it wasn't that she thought he was wrong, but she was confused. She never fully understood the concept of subjectivity, and in this arena, she was lost. And of course, like all times where she was lost, she looked to Seth for guidance - literally, in this case, she turned her head to look directly at him, with her familiar yet vacant eyes, silently asking for an answer. |

Good thing he's used to her always looking at him for answers, because anyone else would have stared back just as blankly without a clue as to what's going on in her mind. Not necessarily meaning he's starting to get annoyed by it, mind you. "We're just friends," He said, looking at Tsubame with a smile that pretty much said, "Don't think too deep into it..." Honestly. Though if anyone had ever seen them together one couldn't help but question just how their relationship could be 'just friends'. While it's not 'always' or 'all the time' you could say that she depended on him a lot in her quest of fitting in the crowd of normal people. And he held nothing against it, helping her out whenever he can to the best of his abilities, despite sometimes dodging around stuff he'd rather not have her know about. Well, whatever. "Sorry for asking this so abruptly, but could you be her mentor? She needs all the help she could get," |

Gail's words were greeted with a rather shocked expression. Well, what one would expect to be a shocked expression. Tsubame looked at the girl with a little disbelief, then at Seth, her eyes blinking at both of them. How would a person be so certain about the time that they have been born for? Robot? … Well, indeed, Tsubame is surprised. However, this also tells her a little bit about this girl. Although originally her first thought about this girl was that she was rather socially inept, right now, she can tell definitely that there is some issues with this girl. Some minor ones, in the eyes of other, more ordinary people, at least. For Tsubame, however, this is a rather… big problem. Not too big, just not small enough for her to dismiss it completely. First, Tsubame can rule out the chance that Gail is a robot- no robot will go out of its way to add the word "approximately" after the amount of time that they were "born" for. After all, to them, these date and time facts are all data that cannot be disputed. There can be an argument that Gail is programmed to be that way, but no robot would have been alive for more than 16 years, right? The technology back then was definitely not as advanced. The next, and probably only other hypothesis that Tsubame can draw, is that Gail is actually very, very factual, and a data-ist. This is a kind of person that Tsubame names and groups up, a group of people who puts factual information over anything, and discards emotion away so to maximize the the function of the brain to accommodate that of the factual information they have. After all, if emotions, feelings and such are in the way, the brain will be too cluttered to first have to deal with emotions and feelings, that they will then be hugely hindered in their processing of factual data and rational thinking, as well as the processing speed of their logical judgment and reflex reaction. Tsubame conclude as such, because she has seen these people before. She has lived under the same roof with several of them, to be exact. The House. The floramancer's face turned pale for a little bit, when she thought of so, ignoring what Seth has mentioned, that they are just friends. No, no, no. This is simply her over-thinking, an wide imagination. There is no house anymore. Assassins cannot be found everywhere, either. It's not like the entire world is REALLY out to get her, right? "E-Eh?" It took a little before Tsubame actually finally recovered herself from her own thoughts, that when Seth said something again, she finally recalled what she was doing. The strange unease in her mind is not really going anywhere, however. "W-Well, why not let her first try the job out, and see whether she likes it?" The girl pulls a light smile up, and looks at Gail directly now. Her facade is up again, and she has, again, the mysteriously mischievous smile on. "Gail-chan, is it? Do you wanna experience being a maid first-hand~?" For now, she should act as neutral and normal as possible, before something really turns for the wrong. Edited by Sybilus, Jan 24 2012, 04:21 PM.

Gail turned her head slightly, looking back to Tsubame. Her face never changed even though she was confused - always the same bland, vacant look. She didn't notice the waitress's unease, being unable to read people's emotions in that way - she didn't even understand what the saying 'first-hand' meant. But she decided to parse the data one token at a time. "What is a maid?" A simple, straightforward question, as anyone who knew Gail would expect. While she seemed uninterested, mainly because her voice never betrayed an interest in anything, she did sincerely want to get a job here. Partly because her 'target' was the proprietor...but also because she didn't want to disappoint Seth. |

Rumi walked in from the back, adjusting her uniform. She blinked at the others near the table, her shyness once again overcoming her. Silently, she cursed herself for being so anti-social, and yet she worked at a cafe. |

…. For a minute, Tsubame was shocked, and felt as if the blood in her body almost froze all at the same time. Her facial expression must look rather dumbfounded, too, given that she doesn't really find things surprising at all for most of the time, and she probably won't choose to express her surprise in such a way, either, even if she was shaken to the core of her heart. But this. THIS. Just how socially inept is this person? Or is she just never around the 2 dimensional world enough to actually know what a maid is? .. No, even if she is not into this world, there is also historical references that one can draw from. This is maids, after all. And maids and servants have existed for a long, long time for all she cares, even in the main history timeline of the world. However, this, theoretically, is a good question. What exactly is a maid? "… Uhm, well," Tsubame attempted a thoughtful expression that she never has mustered up with her Tsu-chan disguise, and tries to explain this question. After all, she has grown to be so adapted to the idea and not question it, that when she was asked, it simply threw her off guard, "Historically a maid is a female servant around a household. But for nowadays, and for this specific cafe… We are simply female waitresses that play into the role of these historical figures for the entertainment of our customers…?" Oh god, even just listening to herself felt rather dumb. Tsubame has always felt from time to time that she is dumb, but this is the worst that she has ever felt about herself, definitely. "… A-anyway," The girl raises her voice again, trying to divert other's attention away from the dumbness that she felt in her own explanations of what a maid is, "Wouldn't it be easier if you try this yourself?~" Oh holy spirits, help me! Tsubame couldn't believe that even she has one of these days that she would think this to herself. |

Gail listened quietly at the girl's explanation, filing it away in her mind. It was rare for her, but she actually nodded as though she understood. She did, at least on some level - a servant at a household was basically how she had spent the first 13 years of her life. She was used to following orders and doing as she was told, as a servant should. So by that definition, she was a maid already. "I see." Gail responded, "Then, I am prepared." That being said, she simply sat and waited for guidance. It looked like there was another person around wearing the same frilly outfit. Once coincidence, but twice, a pattern - and of course, she had seen many others here wearing the same outfit when spying from the Astral Plane. Was that outfit a uniform for maids...? ...If that was the case, then there was a problem. Her daggers. Hidden beneath Gail's clothing were 9 belts, each of three daggers, around her arms, thighs, and waist - and an additional 28th dagger in her right boot. If she had to change clothes, there was a chance her armaments could be discovered. She normally didn't wear her daggers when going out with Seth. But knowing that this establishment was run by Tsukasa, she couldn't come unarmed. To hide the daggers away, or to try and keep them under the maid outfit...? |

… Wow. That was less question than she has expected. This actually took Tsubame by surprise, simply because of how little of question that Gail has actually posed. After all, she'd have thought that since Gail was not even aware of what a maid is, she would not have understood her as easily as Gail currently responded to be. Well, it does seem to Tsubame that there is some uncertainty, but the overall reaction is definitely more positive that Tsubame thought she would have received. Or, maybe, the trouble does not lie here, but elsewhere, say, for example, when they start changing. Who knows, for all she knows, this person can be, as she has thought earlier on, a person who was out to murder her, and would dig out some sort of gun, dagger, or obscure weapon out of nowhere to kill her as soon as they are in the changing room. But then again, that should be rather unlikely… right? Tsubame just doesn't see a reason why someone who wishes to murder her would go the roundabout way of coming into contact with Seth before approaching her directly at work. That person might as well just come into the store and pretend to be a random customer. … Unless this person wanted her to taste a sample of House's own poison. But that is way too intricate, and Tsubame doesn't even think there is a person out there who wishes to take revenge that way- those who would do that probably are dead already, or went to the prison to attack her extended family instead. … right? Anyway, she needs to first take care of this girl in hand. "Well then, will Gail Ojousama join Tsu to the changing room, then?" The girl gestures to ask Gail to move out of her seat, and looks at Seth with a mischievous smile. "And please be patient in your waiting for your maid today, Seth-sama~" Sadly, the disguise of Tsu-chan cannot be dropped, yet. Besides, if she is going to be so stressed and overthinking about this, may as well use Seth as a teasing victim to relax herself a little. |

Gail slowly got up and began to follow Tsubame. While outwardly she appeared calm as ever, her mind was racing for a solution. She couldn't simply refuse - becoming an employee at this place was part of her mission now. She couldn't afford to deny herself any angle by which she could reach her target. "...I would like to change alone, if that is permissible." Gail said, carefully calculating her words. Conversing with people wasn't something that came naturally to her - each sentence was manually constructed in her mind, after individually considering the definitions of each word. It was the only way she knew how to talk to people. The outfit looked complicated, from looking at Tsubame. It had far more parts than her simple shirt-and-pants outfits. To be honest, she wasn't sure if she could figure it out on her own, but she didn't have much of a choice. She would have to figure out some way to get around this problem later, when she had more time to think. |
