TIME: THE SUN GOES DOWN... OVER THE WATER. EVERYTHING GETS HOTTER WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN~ (but it's not down yet, it's still sunset) LOCATION: WE'RE LOST IN THE FUCKING WOODS, SOMEONE SEND HELP "Alright.. the final match of the tournament.. At last..." Deus said, exhausted from all this announcing nonsense. Despite the fact he hardly did anything. "This is only the final match of the first round.." Chronus said, confused. "How many rounds are there..?" "Four." "Four." Chronus and Thanatos replied simultaneously. "... Ah.." Deus said, his spirits obviously broken. "Three more... three.... more...." He said collapsing to his knees. "Man.. we've hardly said anything at all about the match." "Just hurry up and help me drag Deus off the stage!!" Thanatos said carrying the boy away. "Right well! fight seven! Start! Great fighters! We're rooting for you! Etc Etc!!" Chronus said before dashing over to help get Deus off the ring. Edited by Cypriss, Jan 14 2012, 08:11 PM.

Asher had only been at Hyakuji for a short time. He only knew a small handful of people, he was still adjusting to the place, and he didn't feel at all fully comfortable in his new home. And yet, he was already about to be thrown into a series of fights against some of Hyakuji's more ambitious fighters. It was by his choice, of course -- this was an opportunity to see how he could hold up against his fellow students, and he wanted to take every opportunity to prove and sharpen his mettle. His usual school uniform was gone, replaced by his combat attire. The young first-year emerged from the treeline, clad in a lightweight white sleeveless trenchcoat, its tight mandarin-style collar fastened around his neck. The coat was trimmed in blue, and rested over a white long-sleeved shirt and pants, which in turn ran down to the blue gloves and boots adorning his hands and feet. He held no apparent weapons; instead, his pendant and chain remained around his neck and wrist, ready for his incantation to be activated. As he approached their designated fighting area, which seemed to be a ring of some sorts in the midst of the woods, he kept a calm but alert posture, offering a small grin and a respectful nod. "I don't believe we've had the opportunity to have met yet," he said in introduction, "My name is Asher von Dietrich, of the Order of the Grand Cross. It will be an honor to fight you here." Sho had arrived to face her foe. Her foe appeared to be either a priest or an exorcist, she wasn't sure which. She took note of the surrounding material. Wood, water, earth, stone, air, cloth. She didn't want to have to count her own clothing as material, but if she wanted to win, she might have to make due. "I feel the same way. I am ShÅkyo Sakusei. Don't go easy on me just because I'm a girl,"she said. She was clad in a white blouse with long sleeves, as well as a matching teal vest and dress. Her black ribbon contrasted against her white hair. It was like she came in her Sunday best. Her eyes were already glowing red with her anticipation and her activation of her abilities. |

Asher cracked his knuckles, and nodded his head once more in response to his opponent's greeting. Looking over the girl across from him, it looked to Asher as if she was older than him, perhaps by a couple hears. Great... My first opponent and I'm up against an older student. If that were the case, she would almost certainly have a much stronger grasp of her powers than Asher did of his. She would have spent one or more years at Hyakuji sharpening her skills and gaining practical experience. More than anything, Asher thought, he couldn't allow her to get settled into her rhythm. If the battle was fought on her terms, it couldn't go anywhere good for the young Paladin. "Don't worry," he answered her, "I didn't enter this tournament to go easy on anyone... I wouldn't expect it from you, and you shouldn't expect it from me." Keeping her off-balance meant that it was critically important for Asher to make the first move. He lifted his right hand to the ornate golden cross pendant around his neck, gripping the cross tightly. "Heiligseifer!!!" At his call, a bright light burst forth from the pendant, and as he swung his arm down to his side, the pendant became a golden-bladed, single-handed sword in his right hand, its crossbar bearing a bold blue gemstone at its center. The reliquary weapon formed, he took off at her in a sprint, leaping forward to deliver a quick combination of sword cuts. He would lead the assault with a downward, overhead slice and, assuming he wasn't halted by a strong block, he would land and follow it up with a quick horizontal slash as well. No matter what, he would keep this an offensive battle. This girl could not be allowed to fight on her own terms. |

Sho jumped back once as her foe came at her, swinging a sword made from his cross. As the vertical slash started its descent, She noticed her foe's guard was open. She quickly resorted to a counter attack and created a jagged pillar of stone where she had been just moments before, it stood about her height and had several sharp spikes just as long. Several of these were pointed at the paladin, and with his guard as open as it was, he'd need quick thinking to get out of that prickly situation. |

She was quick. Quicker than Asher had anticipated, but then again, he probably should have given her more credit from the start. She moved swiftly to evade his overhand slash, and -- what was this?? A pillar of pointed stone coming up from the ground? So this was how her power worked, was it? He continued his slash, the blade meeting the stony pillar as it rose. He was able to push himself away from the rocky hazard, but not without one of the jagged points cutting into his left arm, just around the forearm. It tore through his clothing and drew blood, but thankfully wasn't deep enough to wound him too gravely. "It appears that I underestimated you by opening with such a basic attack... Do accept my apologies." Reorienting himself, Asher began another dashing advance, sword held low at his side as he silently whispered to himself. "The light of the Divine shall pierce even the darkest heart..." Asher swung his blade upward as if delivering an uppercut, but the attack was merely a ruse. He would deliberately come up short on the strike, and quickly extend his left hand, index and middle fingers together, releasing a thin, piercing beam of holy energy directed at Sho. Sho attempted to dodge the sword slash, but noticed something was off. A searing pain in her arm told her that the light her opponent shot was the real attack and had burned her arm a bit. "So that's your game, eh?"she said as she quickly devised a new strategy. Her foe could use light. Light is beaten by.....mirrors. She had none. Then light is refracted by crystals. That could work. She grabbed onto the stone pillar and focused. It began to crumple until it resembled a broadsword made of a mixture of crystals. It's multitude of colors wasn't pretty, but it was sharp and cast glares all over the battle field. She held it with two hands and had reasonable control with it. Sho rushed at her foe, holding the blade at her side before swinging it horizontally at her foe once she was within attacking range. This move would allow her to keep the blade near her so that should she need to block with it, she could. Power uses:2/10 |

This girl was clever in her ability to manipulate her surroundings. Asher wondered if her powers were limited to stone, or if she could work with other materials, as well. He would certainly find out before long, if the fight dragged on. She had made for herself a broadsword of stone and crystal shards. An effective weapon, to be sure, but such a heavy stone blade would likely make her attacks sluggish. Asher could use this to his advantage, he thought. His beam attack wouldn't work against that; she had cleverly thought to refract light with crystals, effectively allowing her to block his technique. Asher only had two offensive abilities, and thankfully only one of them was light-based. With that in mind, as she approached the pillar of stone, he began another quiet chant under his breath. "Blessed is the sword which strikes in the name of the Almighty... For God shall crush all foes." Asher didn't take hits too well, but he did have agility going for him. As she began her strike, Asher dropped low to the ground, his left hand planted against the dirt, one leg extended far behind him, pressing himself as low as he could get to allow the blade to pass over him. Once it had passed, he rose quickly and swung his sword downward from over his head, releasing an arc-shaped blast of raw holy energy at Sho. Sho saw her foe duck under her blade and knew she had to react quickly. Her sword bent and dug into the ground, then quickly straightened out, flinging her out of the way of the sword/energy attack. She decided to change tactics during this time, and the sword disintegrated, leaving behind two sturdy crystal twin swords. They were light and quick, and still allowed her to block light based attacks. "You fight well. But I've fought someone much harder to catch,"she said. She took up a defensive stance that would allow her to make an easy counter attack. Power uses:3/10 |

Asher could hardly believe his eyes as the sword changed shape, propelling her away from his sword beam. Just how many tricks did this girl have up her sleeve? With the two warriors now separated, she had the opportunity to taunt him some as she changed tactics again, forming two light swords. That would probably prove difficult for him, unless he also decided to bring out his relic shield. "I consider it a blessing to fight with someone experienced... It's a good way to test my mettle against what Hyakuji has to offer! We've each managed to wound each other once, so thus far I'd say this is an even fight." Still, he had gotten off his gameplan. He had wanted to keep her off-balance to keep her from dictating the pace of the battle, and yet his first round of aggressive moves had been countered very effectively. He twirled the blade in his hand once, sizing her up for a moment. She'd seen both his techniques, and he still only knew what he guessed was the surface of her capabilities. This was not going as he'd planned. Still, she seemed determined to force him into making the next move, so he had to attempt something. She hadn't seen his shield yet... Perhaps he could lure her into a position where he could strike her with it? He advanced toward her, more slowly this time. When he finally drew near, a quick skip set him up to take a leap forward at her, sword drawn down low by his waist, his left arm up in front of him, ready to swing his blade down overhead at her shoulder. If she took the bait, his next move could be a decisive counter attack. If she didn't.... He was in trouble. |

Sho yawned. She felt like giving poetic criticism. "An attack from the front is very unwise, Especially when your foe has an advantage in size, Or when your foe is skilled at any distance, Or can kick your rear at any instance." As she recited her poem, she jumped sideways as her foe used the jump attack at her and she countered by summoning a pillar with a top shaped like the sole of a boot from behind the paladin. Her poem was literal. |

Asher smirked. She was moving to evade the attack -- perfect! Now she was perfectly set up for him to -- and suddenly he was struck in the back by a.. boot-shaped pillar? That was exactly what the young Paladin was NOT expecting to happen, and the attack caught him thoroughly off-guard. As it struck him in the back, he flew forward, landing roughly on the ground before tumbling several feet in a messy roll. He attempted to continue that roll and get onto his knees, ready to prepare for a counter-attack. But the move was so utterly unexpected, that as he gathered himself out of the rough roll, it may well have left her an opening to attack him. If she relented, he'd have time to regroup. If not, he was going to have to defend in a hurry. [Power Uses: 3/10] |

Sho smiled as she caught her foe off guard. Now she had to keep up the attacks. She stomped her foot down and then a line of jagged rocks began to erupt from the ground, making a beelilne for the paladin."I hope you can fight harder,"she taunted. Power uses:4/10 |

The rough, tumbling landing finally ended, and Asher rose just in time to see the series of spiked rocks coming at him from the ground -- seemingly coming right toward him. He'd have to make a move quickly if he wanted to keep this from getting out of hand. Rising quickly to his feet, he broke into a run, straight toward the oncoming rocks, eyes narrowed in concentration. As they approached, he took a short hop forward, landing on the backside of one of the spikes as he angled toward it. "Blessed is the sword which strikes in the name of the Almighty... For God shall crush all foes." Once again he uttered the all-too-familiar verse; he hoped that at one point in his career he'd learn to use these techniques without having to constantly recite the accompanying words. But as he chanted, he pushed off the backside of the rock, leaping high into the air and slashing down at a 45-degree angle, sending another arcing blade of holy energy rushing toward Sho. It's not like I have too many moves... Maybe I should try getting in closer? This will have to do for now... [Power Uses: 5/10] Edited by The Kiwi, Jan 18 2012, 09:34 PM.

Sho ducked under the energy blast and took up a defensive stance. She twirled the two swords in her hands once, fond it to be a bit too difficult and considered herself lucky that the first time she tried it, she didn't look like a fool. "Tell me. Why did you become a paladin?"she asked. She felt she might as well learn why her foe chose the path that led him to this battle. |
